Balun คืออุปกรณ์ที่ทำหน้าที่แปลงค่าความต้านทางจาก75โอมห์ของสาย Coxical เป็น100โอมห์ของสายUTP ชึ่งสายUTP จะตีเกลียวเพื่อให้สนามแม่เหล็กตัดกันภายในสายทำให้เกิดสัญญาณรบกวนน้อย balun จึงเหมาะนำมาใช้ในระบบCCTV เพราะเดินสายได้สะดวกได้สายUTP Cat5E 1เส้นมี4คู่สามารถส่งภาพ4ช่อง ทำให้ประหยัดค่าสายสัญญาณ
Balun แบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภท
1.Passive ไม่มีไพเลี้ยงระยะทางได้ประมาณ300เมตร+
2.Active มีไพเลี้ยง วงจรขยายสัญญาณ. ปรับความเข้ม. แสงสว่างของภาพได้. การต่อBalun แบบ Passive to Active จะได้ระยะทางประมาณ900เมตร+. ถ้าต่อแบบ Active to Active จะได้ระยะ14002000เมตร
Balun มีทั้งแบบ 1, 4, 8, 16 Ch ให้เลือกใช้งาน ตามความเหมาะสมกับงาน
จากการทดลอง ได้ผลตามสเปคที่ได้ระบุไว้. ภาพคมชัด สามารถปรับความคมชัดและแสงสว่างของภาพได้ ตามระยะที่เดินสายไว้
