2022 Nissan Qashqai – Magnificent SUV!
The SUV, seen as the creator of its class, no longer offers a diesel engine.
Nissan introduced the 3rd generation of the Qashqai, which took the CSUV segment by storm in both the European and Turkish markets. Qashqai, which has sold over 3 million examples in Europe so far, wants to be assertive in its new generation.
Adopting a angular design language, as in other new models of Nissan, Qashqai resembles the new XTrail on the one hand and the electric Ariya on the other. The grille that goes down to the license plate and the headlights, which can be defined as both double and singlepiece, are remarkable. The air intakes under the bumper and on the side also wink at Ariya. It should be noted that the hood edges are also designed as bulging as in the second generation model.
Starting under the front bumper, passing the fenders and under the doors and forming the majority of the rear bumper, the plastic guards, combined with the black roof and side mirrors, made the vehicle look lower than it really is. We can say that the wheels, whose diameter reaches 20 inches for the first time, are also effective in the dynamic appearance.
The rear part of the Qashqai, which looks like a makeup version of the 2nd Generation examples, has elongated the LED stops to the sides. While the gray protection on the bumper draws attention, fin antenna and spoiler are placed on the roof.
As in the past, the Qashqai, which is one of the most compact models in its segment, has increased by 35 mm, while the wheelbase has increased by 20 mm. In width and height, 32 and 10 mm increments were recorded, respectively.
The Qashqai, which has a more modern wind blowing in its interior, has finally switched to a digital instrument panel. The glass and mirror controls used in the doors in the living area, which seems to be copied from the XTrail, look stylish even though they are familiar from Renault models. The presence of physical buttons on the steering wheel, the bottom of which is flattened, and under the touch screen, which is placed on the upper part of the center console, is a difference in the sector that is increasingly moving towards touch.
The same orientation can be seen in the ventilation controls. While the gear shift paddles were added behind the steering wheel, the gear lever was replaced by the selector. The volume offered by the car, which can be purchased with an electric tailgate, has increased by approximately 50 liters.
The equipment of the new generation vehicle includes a contactless charging station, a heated steering wheel, a 10.8inch head up display and electric, memory, heated and massage function front seats, as well as seats with high side support and leather upholstery.
Thanks to the auxiliary system called ProPilot, the car, which can combine the adaptive cruise control system with the information it receives from navigation, can also offer semiautonomous driving in stopandgo traffic. Among the interesting safety equipment of the Qashqai is the airbag placed between the front seats.
In the frontwheel drive versions, the torsion bar rear suspension system is used up to 19inch diameter wheels, while the fourwheel drive or 20inch diameter wheels will use independent rear suspension.
When we go under the hood, it can be seen that Qashqai bids farewell to diesel engines. The petrol engines to be offered for European markets will be electrically assisted. The familiar unit with a volume of 1.33 liters will be able to produce 140 and 158 horsepower and up to 270 Nm of torque with 12 Volt mild hybrid system options. The most powerful of the models, which can be purchased with CVT or manual transmission, will also offer the option of allwheel drive.
The main new engine of Qashqai is in the vehicle with ePower badge. The vehicle, which has a 1.5liter gasoline engine and variable compression ratio, will only feed its batteries with this unit, while the electric motor, which can produce 190 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque, will transfer its power to two wheels.
