Imam Al-Qurtubi wrote: Topic: Using the 99 names of Allah as ?WAZIFA? or ?WIRD?Respected Scholars,Assalam-o-Alaikum!Hope u all will be fine.In Pakistan, various Maulana or Sufi or Alim give advice to recite WAZIFA (WIRD) of one of the Allah’s 99 names for easily finding the ways for solutions of certain problems of a person’s life, like for job, marriage, education etc. They advice the following procedures of these types of WAZIFA:1 – The Maulana advice to recite one of Allah’s 99 names as WAZIFA (for example: “YA-SALAAMO” or “YA-LATEEFO” or “YA-ALEEMO”) by 100, 500, 1000 or 4000 times. And before and after of this WAZIFA, recite “Durood-e-Ibrahimi” in odd number of times like 3 or 11 times. The choice of Allah?s name and the number of times that name should be repeated is advised by the Maulana according to which certain purpose of life a person is asking for. The Maulana also advice to recite this WAZIFA for a certain number of days like for 11 or 40 days. Some Maulana also advice a particular time of the day to recite this WAZIFA like after offering Isha prayer. The Maulana then advice to ask Allah in Du’a just after reciting the WAZIFA for the solution of that certain purpose for which the WAZIFA is recited (like for good job, for marriage etc.).2 – Some Maulana advice the above mentioned WAZIFA as a ?DHIKR? for the best protection and immunity against magic or black magic if a family has become aware that their relatives are practicing black magic and they are the target of those people in the basic problems of life; like if any of the members of this family is jobless or still unmarried, or if the members of this family are sick, and the severity of their illnesses has increased after visiting these relatives. Even these types of WAZIFA are also suggested by some Maulana on Television in Islamic Channels of Pakistan.3 – Some Sufi also describe that a common “WAZIFA practice” is to use the Beautiful Names of Allah as part of a daily spiritual practice by choosing a couple of the Divine Qualities which seem to be lacking or out of balance in one’s life, and reciting each of the chosen qualities, such as Ya-Lateef, Ya-Salaam, 33 or 99 times as an invocation, while deeply and powerfully imagining and feeling the successful expression of those Divine Qualities in one’s own life experience.4 – Some Sufi advice ?Do not say anything else, just repeat the word (one of Allah?s name such as Ya-Salaam, Ya Lateef) over and over, innumerable times. Finally it will lose all meaning, but take on an entirely new significance. God will open the doors and you will find yourself using that simple word to say everything that you wanted to say”.My Questions are:1 ?Is any of the above mentioned ways of “WAZIFA” Halaal and according to Islam and Sunnah? And if these types of ?WAZIFA? can be considered as ?Dhikr? or ?Supplication? or ?Ibadat?? Or whether these types of ?WAZIFA? are ?Shirk? or ?Bid?ah? or ?Baatil? or ?Haraam??2 – How could we use Allah’s 99 names in our lives or what is the Islamic procedure of using Allah’s name? Is there any way of using Allah?s name as ?DHIKR? or ?SUPPLICATION? or ?WAZIFA? instead of to call upon Allah by His 99 beautiful names in our ?DU?A??3 ? What is ?WAZIFA?? Which words and Dhikr should we recite as a ?WAZIFA??4 – Is there any ?DHIRK? or ?SUPPLICATION? which a person can do for finding a good job if he/she is jobless; or a person can do for his/ her mar riage if he/she is at the age of marriage and is still unmarried; or is there any specific ?DHIRK? or ?SUPPLICATION? for any specific purpose of human life?5- If going to a Magician or sorcerer is ?SHIRK?, then how could a person become aware of that he is suffering from the effects of magic targeted by his relatives or some other people, so that he could break the spell by daily recitation of Quran, in particular Surat Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas and Ayat Al-Kursi? How could we know that we are the target of black magic done by someone? Please answer the correct Islamic point of view and according to Sunnah about this issue in detail. Also mention the views of Saudi Muftis and Saudi Scholars about this issue.I lived in Saudi Arabia for about 18 years and I read the Urdu translation of many Islamic books written by Saudi Muftis and Saudi Scholars, and I strictly avoid different types of ?SHIRK? and ?BID?AH? such as Intermediary between a Person and Allah (Tawassul), going to and believing what a magician or sorcerer says, celebrating Birthday of Prophet (PBUH), 15th night of Shabaan, Ma?raj in Rajab etc. which are very common in our country Pakistan. But as I am at the age of 25 and still unmarried, also I am an Electronic Engineer and searching a job for about an year but still jobless, that?s why my parents strictly and continuously advise to recite the ?WAZIFA of Allah?s Names? but I am continuously avoiding as I have never read in the Islamic books of Saudi Arabia about reciting the beautiful names of Allah a certain number of times, or in a certain place, or at a certain time, or in a certain manner. Besides I perform prayers five times a day and Tahajjud prayer, daily recite Quran, and I do Dhikr and Supplication mentioned in Quran and Hadith, doing SABR in present conditions and problems of my life believing that Allah will reward me and asking Him in DU?A for the solutions of the problems of my life believing that He will do better in my life at the right time that He will choose for my job and my marriage.Jazakum Allah khayran. Thanks! From SANAFi Aman Allah.

This article is about Wazifa. For other uses, see Wazifa (disambiguation)
In Sufism, the wazifa (Arabic: وَظِيفَة ; plural: wazaïf) is a regular litany practiced by followers and comprising Quranic verses, hadiths of supplication and various Duas.[1][2]
Presentation [ edit ]
It is recorded in the various rituals of the Sufis that one of their main invocations takes place with an individual or collective daily and weekly dhikr and wird known as wazifa.[3] This wazifa thus refers only to the part of this ritual devoted to the invocation of the supreme qualities of God (Allah) Almighty.[4]
As an example, song and rhyme also play a key role in this wazifa and provide a bridge and connection to the Sufi practice of reciting the ninety-nine names of God while meditating on their meaning.
For each tariqa in Sufism, there are specific collective litany rules comprising a minimum number of people required to create a group which is generally four murids.
In these reciting congregations, the disciples meet daily or weekly to perform collective dhikr, which is a type of meeting thus known as wazifa circle (halqa).[5]
Conditions [ edit ]
There are several conditions for the collective recitation of the wazifa to bring its mystical fruits:[6]
The attendance and presence of all the murids accustomed to the ritual; [7]
accustomed to the ritual; The grouping of reciters by forming a circle ( halqa );
); Prayer aloud from the oral recitation of all parts of the wazifa ;
; Literal and melodic erudition and perfection of reciting dhikr.
In the Tijaniyya order, if the reciters are men and there is no confirmed muqaddam among them, these murids can elect from among them a man who can initiate the wazifa for them.[8]
Time [ edit ]
The best time to practice morning wazifa ranges from fajr prayer to duha prayer and can go beyond until noon.[9]
For the evening wazifa, the preferable time is from the asr prayer in the afternoon until the isha prayer at night.[10]
Particularly in the summer when the nights are short, the possible schedule of the nocturnal wazifa can extend from sunset until dawn the next day.[11]
Practice [ edit ]
The practice and performance of wazifa is very developed and rigorous among the faithful and murids in the tariqas of Sufism.[12]
This litany is assigned as a daily or weekly duty to the disciple by his Sheikh and designed for him according to his predispositions and capacities for spiritual transcendence.[13]
This duty of recitation generally includes the Shahada and the supreme name Allah or its substitute which is the pronoun Huwa (Arabic: هُوَ).[14]

Wird and Wazifa
In `ibadat (acts of worship), we should take only what is proven by the authentic texts of Shari`ah. Imam Al-Qurtubi wrote:
“A person uses every name with its meaning, like he uses the name “The Merciful” while praying for mercy and “The Guide” while praying for guidance and “The Provider” while praying for provision. Still, there is nothing in the authentic references that says that the 99 names are to be recited on a certain occasion or after a certain Prayer on a certain day. Also, there is nothing reported to say that some of the 99 names have some effects on healing diseases or the like. A Muslim should use the names only for general supplication that suits their meanings and the like.”
Here, we’d like to cite the following fatwa issued by Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Al-Munnajid, a prominent Saudi Muslim scholar and lecturer:
“There is no sound basis for reciting these adhkar (plural of dhikr—remembering Allah) or the names of Allah in certain numbers. These numbers are usually stated by some of the innovators, most of whom are Sufis, who describe adhkar and the number of times they are to be repeated, making that up themselves; they say whoever recites such-and-such will get such-and-such benefits and protection, and whoever recites such-and-such a wird (daily quota of supplication) will get such-and-such a reward.
Of course, these are matters which can only be known through revelation. So the basic principle in this case is that dhikr and supplication are of two types:
1. Adhkar that were narrated in the Qur’an and Sunnah, to be recited at a certain time, in a certain place, or in certain circumstances. This type should be recited as prescribed, at the appropriate time, or in the appropriate circumstances or place, with the correct words or posture, without adding anything or taking anything away.
2. All adhkar or supplications in general that are not connected to certain times or places. These fall into two categories:
a. Those that were narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so they should be recited in the wording that he used. They should not be connected to any particular time or place, and they should not be connected to a specific number of times to be recited.
b. Those that were not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), rather the person makes them up himself, or they were narrated from the Salaf (the righteous early Muslims). It is permissible to say such words so long as five conditions are met:
(1) One should choose the best and clearest words, for one is conversing with one’s Lord and God.
(2) The words should be of an appropriate style.
(3) The supplication should be free of anything that is forbidden in Islam, e.g., it should not involve any element of seeking help from anyone or anything other than Allah, and so on.
(4) It should be of the general kind of dhikr and supplication, not connected to a particular time, place, or circumstance.
(5) It should not be taken as a regular practice.” (Adopted from TasheehAd-Du`a‘ by Sheikh Bakr Abu Zayd )”
Based on the above, the names of Allah are narrated in the Qur’an and Sunnah, but saying that they must be repeated a certain number of times is an innovation (bid`ah) that should not be followed. Rather we should mention the names of Allah in our supplications and address Allah by all His beautiful names, without singling out some names or stating that they should be recited a certain number of times or at certain times, making that up ourselves. We should adhere to what was narrated in Shari`ah concerning certain times, places, or situations connected to a particular supplication. If no such details were narrated in Shari`ah, then we should not make them up ourselves because that is encroaching upon the rights of Prophethood.
How To Do Wazifa In Islam?
Wazifa does, in fact, have an Islamic foundation. See Abdul Raheem’s succinct explanation for further information. Curing through the Wazeefahs of our Mashaaikh and the Names of Allah are two methods of healing (s.w.t). The Wazeefah described in Tafseer Raheemi does not contain any allusions to hadeeth, which is a rare occurrence.

What is wazifa in Quran?
A regular litany used by Sufi practitioners that includes Quranic verses, hadiths of supplication, and different Duas is known as the wazifa (Arabic: wazifah; plural: wazaf).
What is the difference between Dua and wazifa?
Several wazaif are not permitted to be performed by a non-Sufi without the authorization of a Sufi teacher. If you do not pray to Allah, he would become enraged and punish you. Dua is Ebadah/Ibadah, which signifies form of prayer. Allah says, ″Call me, and I will answer you,″ and the words used are direct: ″I am closer to you than your Jugular vein,″ declares Allah.
Can you do wazifa while on periods?
Is it permissible for me to repeat it during my period? – Quora is a question and answer website. Unfortunately, this is not the case. During periods, you should refrain from reciting the Quran. Similarly to prayers, once you have made Niyah for a wazifa, you can continue and make up for the days that were missed later, just as you would with prayers.

What is the meaning of Istikhara?
In his commentary on this hadith, Ibn Hajr stated: ‘Istikharah is a term that signifies requesting Allah to assist one in making a decision, which means picking the better of two options when only one of them is required to be chosen.’ Once the salaa has been concluded, the supplication of Istikhaara should be said shortly after.
What is Sufi mysticism?
Sufism, also known as tasawwuf in the Arabic-speaking world, is a type of Islamic mysticism that stresses introspection and spiritual intimacy with God.It is a branch of Islam that originated in the Middle East.In spite of the fact that it is frequently misinterpreted as a specific Islamic sect, it is actually a larger form of worship that transcends religious boundaries and directs adherents’ focus inward.
Will Allah accept my Dua?
He will answer to our dua in accordance with what is best for us and at the most convenient moment for him. We must remain persistent in our dua and not give up if we do not receive an answer right away. When our dua is answered, we should remember that Allah SWT knows what is best for us, even if we do not agree with the outcome at the time of the response.
What is the power of Dua?
According to a Hadith, dua has the unique capacity to alter the course of one’s life (Tirmidhi). As recorded in the Qur’an, all of the Prophets (peace be upon them) turned to supplications as their final ‘weapon’ to beg Allah’s assistance when all of their efforts failed while reforming countries in their own harsh contexts.
Is it a sin to pray on your period?
During Ramadan, menstruating girls and women are barred from participating in fasting and prayer.
Are menstrual cups halal?
Yes, women of Islamic religion use cups in Kenya, Pakistan, Jordan, and Syria, among other countries.
What Quran says about menstruation?
The Quran’s verse 2:222 suggests that sexual interactions are banned while a woman is having her period. However, it does not specify the prohibition of prayer, which was added by academics years later in accordance with custom. God requires prayer in order to assist individuals in staying on the right path and away from negative behaviors.
