How to Draw an Oval Shape Autocad

Drawing an oval in AutoCAD isn’t the same simple process as drawing a circle. Instead of dragging the mouse to the desired size, you’ll need to mark a few points so the computer can draw your oval to the size you want. The function for drawing an oval is not called an oval tool as you might expect, but rather an ellipse tool. This tool allows you to draw both ellipses, which are larger on one end than the other, along with perfect ovals, which are the same at both ends.
Open AutoCAD and click the “Ellipse” button on the left side toolbar. It shows an ellipse on its side with three red dots on it.
Click the point on the screen where you want to start the oval. This will represent one end of your oval. The command box at the bottom should read “Specify axis endpoint of ellipse.”
Drag your mouse upward and click where you want the other end of the oval to be. This vertical line you are creating will control how tall the oval is. A shorter line creates a shorter oval and a longer line will give you a longer oval. The command box should read ” Specify other endpoint of axis.” Click where you want this top endpoint to be. A circle should appear onscreen.
Drag the mouse out horizontally from the center after specifying these two endpoints. The circle will stretch and form an oval instead of a circle. Stretch the oval out horizontally to the desired distance. The command box should say “Specify distance to other axis.” Click the mouse when the ellipse looks wide enough to create the finished oval.
To Work With Ellipses

Draw an Isometric Circle If you are drawing on isometric planes to simulate 3D, you can use ellipses to represent isometric circles viewed from an oblique angle. Click Tools menu Drafting Settings . In the Drafting Settings dialog box, Snap and Grid tab, under Snap Type and Style, click Isometric Snap. Click OK. Click Home tab Draw panel Ellipse drop-down Axis, End . Find Enter i (Isocircle). Specify the center of the circle. Specify the radius or diameter of the circle.
Draw a True Ellipse Using Endpoints and Distance Click Home tab Draw panel Ellipse drop-down Axis, End . Find Specify the first endpoint of the first axis (1). Specify the second endpoint of the first axis (2). Drag the pointing device away from the midpoint, and click to specify a distance (3) for half the length of the second axis.

The ELLIPSE command is the usual way to create an ellipse — or oval — but there’s a different way that may be more intuitive for you.
Here are the steps:
Draw a rectangle. Select the rectangle. Start the PEDIT command (polyline edit). Choose the Spline option.
Now, select the oval. This is what you see:
Do you see how the handles are still on the corners of the rectangle? And if you open the Properties panel, you’ll see that AutoCAD still considers it a 2D polyline, not an ellipse.
Just to experiment, take the same rectangle and use the Fit option of the PEDIT command (instead of the Spline option). Whoa! You get a circle! But select it, and you’ll see that the handles are still on the corners of the rectangle and AutoCAD still thinks of it as a polyline, not as a circle.
