Why record PAL in Europe and other things to keep in mind when shooting video in PAL country.
I talk about the different frame rates. NTSC frame rate is typically 30 fps, 60fps and 120 fps. PAL frame rate is typically 25 fps, 50fps and 100 fps.
Is ntsc better than pal because it uses a higher frame rate?
In Europe and other PAL regions we run our power grid at 50 Hz and that effects light sources such as lightbulbs, LEDlights and fluorescent lights etc and causes a flickering effect that is not prominently noticeable with your eyes only. But if you record NTCS video in PAL regions the frame rate will get out of sync at make the flickering effect more prominent. But if you record video in a PAL region and using PAL you have a frame rate that is matching the 50 Hz electricity power grid. When the frame rate and the power grid frequncy is matching, and get syncronized, there will be no flickering.

I first record myself indoors but in daylight only. Then I turn on a light bulb and see what happens.
Is NTSC better than PAL because it uses a higher frame rate? Not necessarily. NTSC and PAL often saves the same amount of information, same data bitrate, to your memory card. So you don’t get more information only because you shoot at a higher frame rate in NTCS vs PAL.
In low light situations it can also be an advantage to shoot PAL because the lower frame rate enables slower shutter time.

PAL vs. NTSC! – Gran Turismo (PSX)
A comparison between the PAL Version of Gran Turismo (SCES00984) and the NTSC Version (SCUS94194).
The recorded footage is completely unaltered (no cropping, no color corrections).
Both Versions run at nearly identical speeds (PAL seems approx 0.67% faster according to my inaccurate measurements).
