Can a boy wear a men’s tie?

For longer lengths, the child can likely wear a men’s necktie. Just a tip. For boys over 13-years old we recommend a men’s size tie. We usually suggest a width 3-inches or less for most boys in their early teens, compared to a traditional men’s 3.25-inch or larger width.

Who invented the necktie and why?

The Beginnings of the Modern Tie

The origin of the necktie as we know and wear it today can be traced to a tie maker from New York in the 1920’s. Jesse Langford patented an entirely new way to make the tie; he would cut the fabric on an angle and sew it into three segments. This method is still used to this day.

What does a bow tie symbolize?

What a Bow Tie Symbolizes. Bow ties are not just the realm of nerds, science guys, and James Bond anymore (though we’ll always remain fond of seeing him wear one). These days, they represent pure uncaged creativity – a confident willingness to be different, and an uncompromising embrace of style in daily life.

When did men start wearing cravats?

Moreover, Uniform ties have this ‘all in this together’ effect that allows students to bond with one another, and learn to respect each other even more.

People Can’t Agree Whether Giraffes Wear Their Ties At The Top Or Bottom, And The Answers Are Hilarious

The question was posted on Twitter by comedian Jeremy Hammond, and the internet is divided once again. Post your answer below and don’t forget to vote for your favorites!

Humanity has a lot of important unanswered questions. For example, are we alone in the universe? What comes after death? Is it possible to travel faster than the speed of light? But all these discussions will have to wait because there’s one that is much more important: When giraffes go to work, do they put the tie at the top or bottom of their necks?

#1 Half prefers top, half prefers bottom. It’s a tie.

#2 I see a disturbing lack of giraffes commenting. Let the giraffes decide for themselves!

#3 It probably starts at the top but after a tough day negotiating contracts with the baboons and lions, it likely slips down.

#4 I don’t know. Most giraffes I’ve seen are either unemployed or jailed in a zoo.

#5 Where the ties are worn depends on social status: boss giraffes wear them on top, middle management in the middle, simple clerks at the bottom.

#6 I think they only wear bow ties.

#7 Actually, to answer were a giraffe should wear its tie, we first need to know how it wears its dress shirts!

#8 Those of you who say the left picture looks better is obviously looking at it merely from a human’s perspective. You know how that’s highly inconsiderate towards giraffes? Because, basically, what you’re saying is that if they don’t look like us shortnecks they’ll look ugly and undesirable as the long-necked creatures that they are!

#9 Of course at the bottom! They do not have that long arms to tie it at the top

#10 Think about this for a moment. Do humans wear ties at the bottom? or the top of their necks?

#11 The really important question is: do Pandas wear ties, and if, how?

#12 Let me ask another question: do giraffes go to work?

#13 I’m surprised that it took so long for this important question to be asked.

#14 It’s a trick question giraffes prefer turtle necks

#15 They wear very wide ties that cover their entire neck, come on guys…

#16 He can wear it however he likes, he’s a confident, self esteemed giraffe who does not need your approval.

#17 1. Young professional 2. Internet start up CEO.

#18 Do we wear ties directly under our chin? No. We wear ties on the bottom of our necks. Unless you’re an uncultured swine like left giraffe.

#19 1. Looks professional. 2. Looks slack AF. I’m not super familiar with Giraffe law or culture.

#20 Bow ties go at the top of the neck and regular ties at the bottom. How about read a damn book sometime and get learned about giraffe style.

#21 It depends on the dress code at their place of work.

#22 Could vote on it, but of course the answer would involve a tie.

#23 Depends if they’re fucking nerds or fucking gangsters.

#24 Depends on the job, depends on the giraffe. I prefer the more laid back, bottom of the neck look. The right giraffe can really work the look.

#25 Middle is not an option?

#26 I feel a tie is at the top and a scarf is at the bottom. I’m fully qualified to make that assertion.

#27 Obviously the top. How else is he going to bottom his shirt? Also why is his giraffe naked? That’s so inappropriate for the workplace!! Mr. Giraffe, you sir have got me fucked up.

#28 They wear their ties both ways. The top when they’re feeling diligent and intelligent. The bottom when they feel lazy. And sometimes, when their hooves won’t stretch far enough, they just let their ties hang around their neck, completely untied!

#29 As they wear camouflage, giraffes probably do not wear a tie at all, as it does not combine nicely.

#30 It’s irrelevant where the tie is as a wider tie knot with a horizontal pattern will create the illusion of a fuller neck and a fuller neck is what all lady giraffes are into these days

#31 They can probably wear several…

#32 It starts at the top, then slides partially down throughout the day.

#33 Bottom because gravity.

#34 But how do they wear the dress pants to go with the ties?

#35 Pretty sure Giraffes only wear business casual to work.

#36 Bottom, if they wear pants on the hind legs. Top, if pants fit over all 4 legs.

#37 Do they wear pants for all four legs or just the hind ones?

#38 Neither, should be tied around the top of his head, while he plays air guitar.

#39 The point of the tie is to cover the buttons on the shirt, right? Shirts sitting on the abdo, bro.

#40 The best giraffess have so long necks that were one tie ends they simply wear the next one.

#41 In last month’s GQ (Giraffe Quarterly) magazine, fashion designer Giraffio Armani said position doesn’t matter as long as it’s not a clip-on tie. Giraffio said clip-ons are for sloths.

#42 Top, the tie or cravat was initially intended to protect the throat, not the chest.

#43 If they wear a bow tie it’s at the top, the other kind goes at the bottom. Don’t ask me why, lol.

#44 First pic is going to work, second pic is coming home.

#45 Republican giraffes put the tie at the top of their necks; democrat giraffes put the tie at the bottom.

#46 Doesn’t matter, as long as they look elegent enough

#47 Thank Goodness Giraffes are too smart to wear ties.

#48 Don’t be silly, giraffes don’t go to work!

#49 Ties? Can we get him to wear pants first!

#50 Giraffes don’t wear tie at all…

#51 Neither way because everyone knows that Giraffes wear bowties.

#52 It’s 2016- accept all giraffes for how they choose to wear their ties!

#53 Duh everybody knows they put them on the bottom lol.

#54 Top looks more professional whereas the bottom looks more like a chillen after 6 hours into the shift.

#55 I’m pretty sure they never wear ties, but if they did it would definitely be at the bottom of the neck, the same as us…

#56 The top. If it was at the bottom the tie wouldn’t be long enough.

#57 Guys, guys you’re looking at this all wrong it’s not about whether we wear it at the bottom or top of our neck… It’s about the head to 1/2.

#58 Depends. If their in the open, maybe being chased by predators, they’d want the tie high up so nobody could grab on to it. But during lunch grazing the tree tops, they’d put the tie down low so they wouldn’t snag on a branch (or drop food on it). So you can often tell whether the giraffe is on a break or working, by where his tie is. Unless you’re talking clip on’s.

#59 Bottom, the meaning of ties are to cover up the buttons, you can’t cover all if you use it on the top of your neck, and you’ll look ridiculous and you’ll look like you want to hang yourself with it.

#60 Well if he is also assumably wearing a collared shirt, I doubt his shirt would go all the way to the top of his neck. Thus, I think bottom.

#61 Giraffes don’t wear ties you morons, they’re animals.

#62 I see giraffes as laid back, too cool for school type of animals! So defo on the bottom! Hanging loose, chilling at the watering- hole, catching up on the banter with his other colleague’s and even making a joke or two about how their always the first to know when it rains!!

#63 Bottom

#64 Bottom near the body. at the top it looks like he’s wearing a small flag/pendant.

#65 With the tie on the bottom giraffe looks less professional.

#66 Like I said on the feed..I think bottom, on their shoulders…and I marvel that I thought this through. I need to get out of the house more often.

#67 Obviously at the bottom. If not, the tie would hang in the food at lunch time, and the dress shirt would not fit right in the shoulders.

#68 When giraffes go to work, they only put on their dots.

#69 The tie at the bottom is clearly slovenly & uncouth. If a giraffe came in to my office dressed like that I’d remind him of the whole cheetah/trainers debacle. And no one needs reminding of how that ended, do we?

#70 At the top when he’s at work. Then after work, when he goes out with the guys for beer, at the bottom.

#71 Bottom of neck. Human also put bottom if neck. It look nicer

#72 I don’t know but they must ask their moms to tie it. These beasts cannot even touch their own neck. Have you seen them drinking… LOL

#73 No no no, they would wear it under their chin.. just like us.

#74 You don’t wear your tie up around your jaw, you wear it down close to your shoulders. #2 all the way.

#75 It obviously goes by the shoulders, otherwise they would just look ridiculous.

#76 Definitely number 1. Number 2 is reserved for happy hour!

#77 Well think about it: where do YOU wear your tie.

#78 Pretty sure Giraffes only wear business casual to work.

#79 To all the guys saying the top is this how you wear your tie? What retard wears there tie at the top of there neck.

#80 Bottom

#81 Higher

#82 top

#83 Bottom is legerer.

#84 Who dresses them? Red does not match their spots!

#85 down low

#86 The botem is so much better

#87 Definitely bottom of their neck – juts like we don`t wear ties just below our jaw, right?

#88 Antelopes wear them at the bottom. So maybe it’s the same for giraffes.

#89 The giraffes need a wider tie to cover more of their necks.

#90 For fashion shows, they wear ruff collars. Multiple, like a very tall Christmas tree…

#91 Like #3, I’d say that the ties would move up or down depending on what they did during the day.

#92 It just depends on the giraffe’s likings… I say either one!

#93 The real question is . . . how are giraffes even putting on ties?

#94 Giraffes wear their ties at the collar of their shirts like every other animal. Since a giraffe’s shirt would only cover its torso, the tie would go at the bottom of its neck. For those of you who think that a giraffe would go shirtless and just wear a tie, where do you think giraffes work? Chippendales?

#95 First of all people, do giraffes even ware ties? Secondly, they don’t have hands to tie them up…

How Would A Giraffe Would Wear A Necktie? No One Knows & It’s Tearing The Internet Apart

The internet is full of useless information. This, we know — it’s where we turn to settle debates and check meaningless facts. But perhaps no question is quite as pointless (or, conversely, adorable) as the one currently trending on Twitter: How would a giraffe wear a necktie? Yes, really. No one can agree on the answer — and it’s tearing the internet apart.

It all started with a single tweet from Brooklyn-based comedian Jeremy Hammond, reading, “When giraffes go to work do you think they put the tie at the top or bottom of their necks? Asking for a friend.” Brushing aside the facts that giraffes don’t need to work or earn a salary, the intriguing proposition caused quite a stir. The adorable query, posted Nov. 17, has since been retweeted nearly 9,000 times, and the debate continues to rage on even several weeks later. It seems — despite the obvious fact that a giraffe is more of a cravat kind of animal— that no one can come to a consensus on how the tie would be worn. It may well be the biggest philosophical dilemma since the whole “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” thing started.

Still can’t quite picture the absurdity of a giraffe in a necktie? The original tweet included an useful comparison of what a tie would look like worn on the base of the neck as compared to the top near the head:

A giraffe’s neck is typically six feet long, which is a lot of ground for a normal tie to cover. Despite being the tallest land mammal, giraffes, like humans, have seven neck vertebrae; however, unlike humans, they do not possess opposable thumbs and certainly wouldn’t be able to tie a Windsor knot. This, of course, has not stopped internet commenters from weighing in with their many varied opinions on the subject, though; and to be fair, both sides have sound reasoning, so it really appears to be a matter of taste.

Team Top feels that a high tie is more professional, and would make a better impression at a meeting:

While Team Bottom believes that a tie at the base is more in line with how a human would wear it:

If you are looking for real physical proof, the debate has even inspired some to search for examples from books and movies, as well as create their own office giraffe artwork.

Some commenters suggest that we are focussing on the wrong kind of ties, and should instead turn our attention to bow ties:

While others believe that multiple ties are in order to accomodate a neck of that size…

… or perhaps just one big tie to cover the entire neck:

Or even (gasp!) no tie at all, according to Zootopia:

When the images of the giraffes were compared to images of humans in ties, the answer seemed fairly clear — with Team Bottom winning the debate.

However, if you are still not convinced, take a look at a real, live giraffe sporting a piece of human clothing:

Phew! Glad we sorted that out!

The internet is locked in an intense debate on how a giraffe would wear a neck tie

Stop everything you’re doing and join in on a very important debate that’s taking over the internet: Where does a giraffe wear its necktie when it goes to work?

When giraffes go to work do you think they put the tie at the top or bottom of their necks? Asking for a friend. pic.twitter.com/e3cFarF75P — jeremy hammond (@jeremythunder) November 17, 2016

Most have concluded that they would wear the tie at the bottom of the neck, because that’s where a human wears a tie. And a dress shirt goes to the bottom of the neck, so if a tie is placed under the collar, the answer would have to be the bottom of the neck.

My colleague Ted Berg brings up a rather compelling counterpoint: Maybe they make different shirts for giraffes.

It’s an interesting theory, but has been debunked by this very scientific photo of a giraffe wearing a collared shirt:

Giraffes clearly wear the same shirts as humans.

The top-of-the-neck crowd — there a few of these radical thinkers out there — says that placing the tie at the bottom of the neck makes for an unprofessional look:

Top looks more professional whereas the bottom looks more like a chillen after 6 hours into the shift https://t.co/wi9V8vN4vv — Emeli Avaloz (@FrickenEmeliCx) November 29, 2016

Looks better at the top. https://t.co/h2aMpcQikv — Old Customer. (@GermanJuice___) November 29, 2016

They have a point. If the giraffe is wearing the tie without a shirt, the top of the neck look is preferred. But what kind of establishment is this giraffe working at where it can get away with not wearing a shirt? Unless it’s a Chippendales dancer, that look is completely unprofessional.

A dress shirt stretching to the top of his neck just doesn’t make sense from a logistical standpoint, and nothing would look more unprofessional than wearing a tie outside the confines of the shirt. The bottom of the neck is really the only option.

That’s just my two cents. What do you think? Vote in our very important poll.
