- Most searched keywords: Whether you are looking for The Sacred & the Digital: Critical Depictions of Religions in Video Games – Google Sách Updating Video game studies are a relative young but flourishing academic discipline. But within game studies, however, the perspective of religion and spirituality is rather neglected, both by game scholars and religion scholars. While religion can take different shapes in digital games, ranging from material and referential to reflexive and ritual, it is not necessarily true that game developers depict their in-game religions in a positive, confirming way, but ever so often games approach the topic critically and disavowingly. The religion criticisms found in video games can be categorized as follows: religion as (1) fraud, aimed to manipulate the uneducated, as (2) blind obedience towards an invisible but ultimately non-existing deity/ies, as (3) violence against those who do not share the same set of religious rules, as (4) madness, a deranged alternative for logical reasoning, and as (5) suppression in the hands of the powerful elite to dominate and subdue the masses into submission and obedience. The critical depictions of religion in video games by their developers is the focus of this special issue.

Assassins Creed Origins Phylakes Guide – How To Kill
Phylakes are a deadly Bounty Hunter enemy that starts to track you down. Thiswill tell you how to kill them, what they give you and what different Phylakes you can encounter on your travels.
You won’t encounter Phylakes until you reach a certain part of the main story. Once you have unlocked Hidden Blades you will be introduced to the Phylakes via an in-game prompt. It warns you that they are deadly powerful Bounty Hunter enemies that you should avoid. While this is very true, it is possible to take them down with the right equipment, a bit of patience and some skill in combat.
Assassins Creed Origins Phylakes Guide – How To Kill
Phylakes are among the most difficult enemies you will encounter at the start of the game. The first Phylakes you meet will be around level 20 and utilize a number of heavy attacks. While seemingly difficult at first, there is a very easy technique to defeat him. Unlock the Fire Bombs skill and ensure you have full arrows. If you follow the Phylake long enough, he will eventually dismount. When on foot, simply get close and hit him with some Fire Bombs. As he begins to burn and panic, throw a few melee strikes from your mount. Don’t waste too many Fire Bombs at the same time as the burning effect does not stack.
Throw 1 or 2, follow up with arrows, repeat. It’s a pretty simply fight if you can remain mounted.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: How to Get Rid of Your Bounty
There are times in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey where you’ll have a bounty placed on your head for falling on the wrong side of the law. Below we’ll be walking you through everything you need to know about the ‘wanted’ system should you be hunted by the law, including how to get rid of your bounty.
On this page:
How to Get Rid of Your Bounty in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
To get rid of a bounty in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you can do it one of four ways, some of which are easier than others.
Hold Y/Triangle on the map screen to pay all bounties. This’ll clear your wanted status but cost a certain amount of money. Move the cursor over a sponsor on the map (marked with a red symbol of a pouch and dagger) to pay that specific bounty. That’ll lower it by however much they’re paying, but won’t get rid of the whole thing, unless they’re the only sponsor. Find the sponsor, but hunt them down and kill them instead of paying. This is the most challenging option, but costs nothing if done successfully. Simply wait. Your bounty decreases slowly over time, so if you don’t commit any crimes, it’ll eventually return to zero.
Mercenaries will pursure players with bounties on their heads. The higher the bounty, the more mercenaries are likely to come hunting you. | Ubisoft
If you’re cutting through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we’ve got everything you’d ever need at our Walkthrough here. Whether it’s combat, stealth or finding the best items, we can provide.
Bounties Explained
You get bounties in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by breaking the law, whether it’s killing civilians or soldiers of whoever owns that area, stealing objects or just generally causing havoc (and getting spotted doing it). As you commit more and more crimes, the bounty meter in the bottom-right will begin to fill, marking how much money is being offered to anybody who can bring you down.
You’ll notice that there are five notches in this Bounty meter, which indicate the severity of the price put on your head. One Bounty notch is at the lower end of the scale, meaning only one or two mecenaries will be after you, but the Bounty meter will increase if you keep on killing enemies, and every time it increases by one notch, a more powerful and deadly mercenary will be sent after either Kassandra or Alexios. Fill up the meter and trained killers from across the world will be after you.
Mercenary assassins will pursue anybody with a bounty on their head. Of course, if you can kill them, you’ll get their high-tier loot for yourself. | Ubisoft
There is a positive side to this however: mercenaries have some of the best equipment in the game, sometimes wielding legendary equipment for you to steal off them. Alternatively, you can knock them out and kidnap them to work on Barnabus’ boat. It’s kinder than killing them… right?

Three Things Star Wars Gets Wrong About Bounty Hunters
Star Wars: the Force Awakens has broken the box office, to no one’s surprise. But what might come as a surprise to some is the fact that the depiction of bounty hunter’s in Star Wars is far from accurate. Here are three things Star Wars gets wrong about real bounty hunting.
Bounty hunters are not assassins
In Star Wars, governments and private parties seeking to capture or kill a desired target can employ bounty hunters. Jango Fett is paid by the Confederacy in Episode II to assassinate Padmé, Boba Fett and numerous others are contracted by Jabba the Hutt, a gangster, to capture Han Solo for debt collection in the original trilogy.
Bounty hunters are never contracted to kill people. For legal, moral, and financial reasons, it is never in the bounty hunter’s best interest to kill unless defending from an attacking fugitive. In the worst case, when a bounty hunter has to kill a skip attempting to harm them, the bounty hunter does not receive any compensation.
Bounty hunters do not work for private interests
Mentioned above, bounty hunters in the Star Wars series can be contracted by governments, businesses, private persons, or even gangs.
In reality, bounty hunters work for the government, and only look for fugitives who have skipped bail. Rather than a gun-for-hire, or a morally grey assassin, bounty hunters today work to ensure justice is carried out, even when the accused attempt to flee their punishment.
Bounty hunting is not illegal
In Star Wars, bounty hunters work from planet-to-planet, and therefore subvert the laws of each system. Bounty hunters don’t treat this as a moral issue; it is simply part of the job.
Bounty hunters in the real world work within the legal system, not against it. When an accused person signs the bail document, they sign most of their constitutional rights away. When they flee the court, bounty hunters therefore are legally exempt from many of the traditional requirements police have to follow in apprehending suspects. A bounty hunter in America can enter a residence or building without announcing themselves, they can even enter under false pretenses or break in. Not only this, but bounty hunters can also make arrests without reading Miranda rights and legally cross state lines. The only real lines that can’t be crossed by bail collection officers are international ones; bounty hunters can be arrested or shot for pursuing accused persons outside of the United States, since their legal protections only go as far as American jurisdiction.
Star Wars, ultimately, is a good story, and so can be forgiven for its inaccurate portrayal of bounty hunting. But the reality, as shown above, can sometimes be just as exciting as fiction.
