Masala Chai Recipe or Masala Chai – an ancient Indian blend of spices mixed as a concoction in tea for the best flavor and aroma in your daily tea. I have used home-made masala tea powder for this recipe. I usually start my day with a hot cup of masala chai or lemongrass tea. Can’t live without sipping tea need them twice a day.

There are a lot of antioxidant’s in tea which is great for your body provided you limit only drinking twice a day. You could use any good brand of tea masala like everest, organic brand however I prefer home-made one.

I would share a small secret today for a flavorful and strong tea. Also, you could refer to the notes below. If you love mint then always add them once your tea is boiled then cover with a lid for 60 secs. You would get all the mint flavor absorbed in your tea. Also, I add the special masala chai powder towards the end. The magic of some herbs and spices are they have a better taste and impact when added towards the end 🙂 hope this help’s you in making a much better chai or tea.

chai masala powder recipe | masala tea powder | chai ka masala with detailed photo and video recipe. an aromatic and spicy masala mix recipe added to indian chai beverage to make it more flavorful and enjoyable. the indian chai drink or popularly known as masala chai is made with a fine blend of tea powder with an added spice mix known as chai masala. basically the spice mix is added on top of the tea powder to the boiling water.

with step by step photo and video recipe. for almost every indian, the morning has to begin with a hot cup of coffee or an indian chai. particularly with indian flavoured masala chai, it is incomplete with a unique blend of spices. this recipe post is dedicated to chai masala mix and how to use it to make a refreshing beverage drink.

i have posted different types of chai and beverage drink using tea powder. but somehow, i missed posting the basic recipe of chai masala mix. the last time when i posted masala chai recipe, it was with fresh herbs like ginger and cardamom added directly to boiling water. the end result would be very similar, but the advantage of this masala mix is it can be stored and used whenever you want. in other words, the chai masala mix makes your life easy and use it to get the same flavour. i personally make it in large quantity as my husband is a big-time tea drinker. he likes to have a cup of masala chai in the morning with breakfast. so it makes it more sense to make it once and use it regularly as you need.

furthermore, before jumping into the recipe, some more tips, suggestions and variations to masala tea powder recipe. firstly, the texture of the masala powder is very critical for this recipe. i personally like it as coarse powder and hence i grounded the dry spices to a fine powder. however, some prefer it to be a fine powder. the issue with fine powder is that it may not get strained with the sieve. secondly, i prefer to add the masala mix with tea powder to boiling water. this helps to release all the flavour of the mix. however, some may prefer to have a mild taste and you can add after milk is added. lastly, if you feel to reduce the spice heat of the mix, you can reduce the quantity of pepper to ¾ or to ½.

now take 30 grams dry ginger and break into pieces.

dry roast until it turns aromatic. keep aside.

further add 6 tulsi seeds, ½ nutmeg and roast well.

cool completely, and transfer all the spice mix into blender.

blend to a slightly coarse powder. chai masala powder is ready, you can store in an airtight container and use for a month. prepare chai using homemade chai ka masala: firstly, in a saucepan take 2 cup water, 4 tsp tea powder and ½ tsp chai masala.

boil for 4 minutes or until strong decoction is prepared.

now add 1 cup milk, 2 tsp sugar and boil the chai twice.

strain the masala tea and enjoy.
