Is the memory of your phone full again? Are you not able to shoot any photos or to receive any files over that messenger app? Or can’t you not save that important PDF document from the email you just got? You need to free up some space, but you don’t know how to do it?
In this video I will show you how you can free up space on your Android phone by copying some of the files over to your computer by using Android File Transfer app made by Google.
With other words in this Android tutorial I will show you how to transfer files from Android to Mac by using the app Android File Transfer, a proper USB cable and your Android phone. Please note that USB debugging has to be enabled on your Android phone for the file transfer to work.

Troubleshooting Android File Transfer
Many of you have been reporting trouble trying to transfer files with Android File Transfer. This video is going to go over how to fix Android File Transfer not working on Macs.
Unfortunately Android File Transfer, along with nearly every other file transfer app, is riddled with incompatibility issues.
Here are four steps that you can use to try and troubleshoot the issues you are facing.
1. Check your cables and connectors
I know it sounds simple, but there are plenty of times when you’ll spend hours attempting to fix some issue with all the complex solutions, when all you had to do was check the cable. Sometimes it’s not plugged in all the way or the cable is dead and needs to be replaced. Also, not all cables are able to transfer data. Some are designed purely to deliver a charge in order to make the cable more cost efficient for production. So be sure to check that your cable is able to transfer data.
2. Update your software
Often times using older software will result in compatibility issues it’s always a good idea to keep your software up to date, unless you have specific reasons for not upgrading. Try upgrading both MacOS on your computer and Android on your phone to make sure the updates won’t fix your issues.
You can upgrade MacOS by going to System Preferences → Software Update
For android go to Settings → Software update
3. Make sure your Phone is in the correct mode
Sometimes your phone doesn’t automatically switch to the correct mode when you connect to your Mac. If you swipe down and look for the section related to USB for File Transfer, tap it and make sure the phone is on \”Transferring files\” rather than the other options.
4. Reinstall Android File Transfer
If all else fails, try reinstalling the program. In order to do this, we will first need to delete Android File Transfer from our Mac, which can be done by going to Applications, Right clicking Android File Transfer, and clicking Move to Trash.
Then you can redownload the program and test again.

MacDroid also lets you work with entire folders at once and you can even edit your android files directly on your phone without transferring them to your Mac.
If you’re tired of having trouble with transferring files from your Android device to your Mac computer, I’d highly recommend checking out MacDroid. It really does make the whole process simple and more effective than any of the other alternatives.
The free version of MacDroid will allow you to transfer files from your Android to your Mac, while the premium version also allows you to transfer from your Mac to your Android.
