How many people believe in the idea that the way you think has some effect on your life? That your thoughts are intimately connected to your future? So your thoughts in some way, create your reality. You believe that?

So how many people in this audience have a clear vision of their future?

You see, you think 60 to 70 thousand thoughts in one day. Out of those 60 to 70 thousand thoughts that you think in one day, 90% of those thoughts are the same thoughts as the day before.

So if you believe that your thoughts somehow are connected to your life, then the same thoughts always lead to the same choices, the same choices always lead to the same behaviors, the same behaviors create the same experiences and the same experiences produce the same emotions.

And those very same emotions drive the very same thoughts and your biology, your neural circuitry, your neurochemistry, your neural hormones and even your genetic expression is equal to how you think, how you act and how you feel and how you think, how you act and how you feel is called your personality and

Your personality creates your personal reality – that’s it

So then if you wanted to create a new personal reality, a new life, then you would have to start thinking about what you’ve been thinking about and change it.

You would have to become aware of your unconscious thoughts and observe them. You would have to pay attention to your automatic habits and behaviors and modify them and you would have to look at the emotions you live by every single day that are connected to your past and decide if those emotions belong in your future.

You see, most people try to create a new personal reality as the same personality and it doesn’t work.

You literally have to become someone else

So your brain is organized to reflect everything you know in your life. Your brain is a record of the past – it’s an artifact of all the things you’ve learned and experienced to this moment.

So if you wake up every morning and get out of bed on the same side, shut the alarm clock off with the same finger, shuffle into the bathroom and use the toilet like you always do, go and get a cup of coffee and drink coffee out of your favorite mug, then get in the shower and wash yourself off in the same routine way, drive to work, get to work see the same people that push the same emotional buttons, do the same things that you’ve memorized and do so well, then hurry up and go home and hurry up and check your emails and hurry up and check your facebook then hurry up and go to bed…

Here’s my question,

Did your brain change at all that day?

We could say that you were thinking the same thoughts, performing the same unconscious actions, living by the same emotions but secretly expecting your life to change.

So there’s a principle in neuroscience and the principal says,

NERVE CELLS THAT FIRE TOGETHER, WIRE TOGETHER

So if you’re thinking the same thoughts, making the same choices, demonstrating the same behaviors, reproducing the same experiences that stamp the same networks of neurons into the same patterns and then produce the same emotions, you’re going to hardwire your brain into a very finite signature because as you fire and wire the same circuits in the same way, those circuits begin to become more connected.

And by the time you’re 35 years old, this is science now, we become a set of memorized behaviors, unconscious habits, automatic emotional reactions, beliefs and perceptions and even attitudes that function just like a computer program.

And if you do something over and over and over again, the repetition of those actions over time conditions your body to know how to do it, well, better than your mind and

A habit is when your body knows better than your mind

Where you’ve done something so many times that the body now knows how to do it better than the brain and so 95% of most people’s behaviors, attitudes, thoughts, beliefs, emotional reactions are subconscious programs.

So why is that important?

Because you’re here this week to learn new information and every time you learn something new, you make new connections in your brain – that’s what learning is. Learning is forging new synaptic connections.

Physical evidence as a result of your interaction in the environment and the footprints of consciousness is called learning; making new connections.

And the Nobel Prize, Laureate Kandel in the year 2000, found that when people learned one bit of information, they doubled the number of connections in their brain from 1,300 connections to 2,600 connections but if they didn’t review that information, if they couldn’t repeat it, if they couldn’t remember it, those circuits pruned apart in hours or days.

So if learning is making new synaptic connections then remembering is maintaining and sustaining those connections. And you were here this week to learn vital information about creating a future and

Be defined by a vision of the future instead of the memories of the past

Because if you are not defined by some vision that is bigger than you and you are not passionate about that vision, then you’re left with the old hardware of the past in your brain and you will be predictable in your life.

So would you agree then – new thoughts, new information should lead to new choices. New choices should lead to new behaviors and new behaviors should create new experiences and new experiences should produce new emotions and those new emotions should drive new thoughts and that’s called evolution.

So if your brain is a record of the past and you don’t have a vision of the future, then you are living in the past and you will never arrive at that new future.

So then if you wake up in the morning and you are not being defined by a vision that’s bigger than you and it doesn’t get you out of bed and inspire you into possibility and you get up living from the old hardware of the past and the old emotions stored in your body,

Do you know what’s gonna happen to you?

You’re gonna wake up and you’re gonna open your eyes and you’re gonna see the same people and go to the same places and do the exact same thing at the exact same time and the moment you open your eyes, all of a sudden now

It’s your external environment that’s controlling how you think and feel

Because you have a neurological network in your brain for every person you know, every place that you go, everything that you own, everything that you do.

And the moment you open your eyes and you see the same people and go to the same places and do the exact same thing at the exact same time, it’s your external environment that’s turning on different circuits in your brain causing you to think equal to everything that you know.

And you told me you believe that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny and as long as you’re thinking equal to your environment, you keep creating the same life.

To change, to truly change, is to think greater than your environment, to think greater than the circumstances in your life, to think greater than the conditions in your world

And every great person in history knew this. Whether it was Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, the Wright brothers, Joan of Arc, they all had a vision – couldn’t see it, couldn’t smell it, couldn’t taste it, couldn’t feel it, but it was alive in their mind.

It was so alive in their mind that they began to live as if that future reality was happening in the present moment.

And so the moment you stop making the same choices that you always make, get ready because it’s going to be uncomfortable and that’s the moment you are heading towards the new self and we call it stepping into the river of change.

But now remember, 95% of who you are is your body as the mind.

You know, you’ve done something enough times that your body does it better than your brain. So you may actually complain unconsciously because your body does it all the time and all of a sudden you say no complaining, no more blaming, no more feeling sorry for myself, no more talking about other people, I’m gonna stop.

You know what happens don’t you?

The body starts sending signals to the brain. The body’s been conditioned that way and all of a sudden you start hearing the thoughts in your head, that say

Why don’t you start tomorrow?

Tomorrow is a better day.

This is too hard for me.

I can’t change.

Something’s wrong with me.

It’s my mother’s fault.

It’s my ex-husband’s fault.

It’s my ex-wife’s fault.

I’m this way because of this event.

Or the most important one, this doesn’t feel right.

And the moment you respond to that fact as if it’s true, that thought leads to the same choice which leads to the same behavior that creates the same experience that produces the same emotion and the person says – this feels right, that feels familiar.

Going from the old self to the new self, stepping into that void, stepping into that uncertainty is the biological, the neurological, the chemical, the hormonal, genetic death of the old self.

And people will say to us, well, in that unknown I can’t predict my life or my future and we always say the same thing to them,

The best way to predict your future is to create it

Not from the known but from the unknown and when you and I get comfortable in the place of the unknown, that’s where the magic happens and it never happens in the known.

Your Thoughts Create Your Future

CHAPTER THREE

Your Thoughts

Create Your Future

By Stephen Knapp

One thing I want to do right now before we go any farther is to explain some information that many people can use. This will show how your thinking creates your consciousness and how to help control it. It provides evidence so that you can see how your life unfolds according to what you draw to it, as dictated by your consciousness and thoughts. By taking the responsibility for yourself and your thinking process, you can make your life more positive and uplifting, and reduce or negate the influence of any hurt or negative energies you encounter. This information can help you take control of your life and be more spiritual.

I’ve said earlier in this book that happiness can be, essentially, a state of mind, or a particular outlook on life. But often times we can observe how our mind is affected by what goes on around us, sometimes by things which do not matter that much. Nonetheless, we get sucked into thinking that it matters a lot. Thus, our thoughts and consciousness become absorbed in negativity, which can greatly affect our disposition, or the way we relate to people, and pave the way for a less than happy future. So what do we do about this?

In the course of our lives we may be bombarded with negative thoughts, energies or scenarios that may come not only from within us but also from outside ourselves or from others. All around us is a network of people, businesses, governments, publications, movies and music, all telling us what has been going on, or what they think is best for us, what we should buy and do, or what we should think about something. As soon as we tune into the radio, television, or open a magazine, it all jumps out at us. Our minds can be receptacles of these thoughts and desires, or even criticisms, which then become a part of our own consciousness if we are not careful. These thoughts are like electrical currents which, although unseen, can be felt and produce internal effects.

As we become objects of such energies, these thoughts and vibrations that we are exposed to can affect the quality of our lives, goals, and the way we think about ourselves. Therefore, to ensure our own success and happiness in life, we must learn how to protect ourselves from these outside influences of negative or materialistic thoughts or actions that may come from or are caused by others. To avoid being overly influenced by the media, we need to make sure we have the time to raise our own consciousness enough to discriminate between what is truly needed for our own happiness, and what is merely the affects of external persuasions that are being dumped on us by outside forces that simply want our money, our vote, or to convince us to act in a certain way, or even to be a silent peon that simply cooperates with the mass consciousness and is not noticed by anyone. It is not easy to avoid the system that continually indoctrinates people, even if on the subtle level, to act in certain ways or spend their money on particular items. Once you are locked into this network, which produces the materialistic mindset, it is most difficult to become self-sufficiently happy. The system makes you think that your happiness has to be according to the dictates and standards set by others, whether it is your teachers, parents, fellow employees, company supervisors, politicians, or what you see on television and in magazines. You will have to be able to rise above this influence to take a good look at who you are, otherwise life could carry you along without you ever knowing your true potential and spiritual possibilities. Don’t be afraid to step outside the mainstream, even if you maintain a low profile in society. Some of the most powerful people on the planet, and the most happy, are those that the world never knows. Their spiritual discipline keeps them from being observed except by a very few.

On a personal level, the more prominent you become in society, the more people will focus their thoughts and energies on you. Some people may simply be envious of you. Or if you are something like a politician, people may blame you for their problems. However, everyday misunderstandings will always develop between people. So, to help protect ourselves from verbal or psychic attacks from others, practice raising the consciousness of those who try to attack you. First, remember there is no attack unless you accept it. See these attacks as calls for help, and review what you will do or say the next time in order to help your would-be attackers. This will protect you and help them as well.

Throughout the day, notice how every word you hear and every action you witness is either an expression of love or a cry for love. This love is the essence of happiness. And in all actions that people may perform, to find the means by which they can love and be loved is their primary purpose, whether they realize it or not. Besides food, shelter and clothing, it is the greatest need of all living beings. It is the essential nature of the soul, and the basis of everyone’s outer actions and desires. So remember to respond to the calls for love with love. Practice being a loving presence for everyone, and observe any changes that occur in yourself and those around you.

Also, practice carrying your own atmosphere with you. In other words, keep that loving presence with you. For example, meditate on being in a sacred place and the feeling or consciousness you have while there. Now be absorbed in and project that atmosphere out around you wherever you are, and to others nearby. As such, you can be your own temple. In this way, when around people of negative energy, you can concentrate on sharing your own positive energy rather than absorbing theirs. In this way, you also create a protective barrier around yourself while maintaining a kind and friendly attitude. The primary objective in such a situation is to give them more of your energy, your understanding, and your essence rather than accepting theirs. You can even imagine light emanating from within you and encompassing them, clearing and cleansing all undesirable energy from the environment.

Practice being unaffected by the envy of others, whether it is directed at you or anyone else. You will gradually learn to be concerned about their welfare but undisturbed by their behavior. Bless those who wish you misfortune, or who are simply lost in their anger and bitterness toward the world in general. This blessing reduces their ability to harm you, because your positive energy counteracts their negative energy. Remember to apply the science of love in all circumstances. If, however, you react to their negative energy with your own negative thoughts, you simply increase the negativity and unbalanced disposition of your own consciousness, and in the surrounding atmosphere. This makes you even more vulnerable to increased receptivity of low energy thoughts and verbal or psychic attacks. It also increases your susceptibility to reversals in life and the manifestations of your own worries and fears. In other words, negative energy builds upon more negative energy, with which you thus surround yourself.

The highest protection we can provide for ourselves is a solid sense of love and compassion for ourselves and others. We need to think and act in dynamic and positive ways and hold a love for ourselves in order to feel a sense of completeness and happiness in who we are. Without enough love from within, you will lack the necessary armor to protect yourself from the relentless attacks of negative energy. Strong inner love will allow you to deflect such harmful energy, or to even transmute it so that it has no destructive effects. Therefore, always remember to put up a shield of love for your protection, keeping in mind that in order to love others, you need to love yourself first. The more you understand your true spiritual identity, and your connection with the Supreme, the easier it will be to love your Self.

This love is a way of balancing our consciousness and karma, the reactions of past actions. When our consciousness is out of balance, it means we must continue to learn how to get it balanced again. Holding emotions like anger, envy, the urge to get back at someone, etc., all are signs of an unbalanced mind and consciousness. Justice and balance in one’s karma is the equalization of all energies, including our thoughts, words, and deeds. All of these together create impressions in the mind which then helps form our consciousness and produce our emotional predispositions, character traits, memories, and even unexplainable fears. Any imbalances in our consciousness, along with our karma, create many instances and lessons that we are forced to endure in order for us to gain the necessary insights to once again stabilize our consciousness. So what lies ahead for us, and especially what we think of at the time of death, is determined by such factors as our attractions, repulsions, how we behave in this life, and how we handle the way others treat us. This also may be influenced by our previous karma, or how we have handled previous tests and situations in the past. This all effects our state of consciousness at the time of death, which guides our soul in a particular direction into the next life.

To help control this aggregate impression in the mind in order to balance our consciousness for inner peace, we need to bring in higher and positive thoughts. This is called controlling the lower self by the higher Self. We can purposely change our thinking from negative to positive. For example, instead of thinking about how someone did something mean or hateful, we can conclude such thinking and begin focusing on the good things in our lives and be more loving.

The reason why this is important is that thoughts are things, energies that can vibrate on different levels, both high or low. It is a person’s free will that determines how such energy will be used and at what vibratory level it will operate. The intent of one’s thought is what determines this vibratory level, and the ultimate outcome of one’s actions, which then helps create our future. If our, or anyone’s, thoughts are based on goodwill or loving intentions, those thoughts carry a high vibration. If such thoughts have a low or selfish intent, they will carry and spread that low energy. Keeping our intentions in a spiritual direction will always help maintain a high vibratory level of our consciousness, and help protect us from those who have an ulterior motive, even if it is the vibration of the images and words that come over the radio, television, magazines, newspapers, etc.

For example, if we worry about something all the time, it is a way of focusing on a particular thing or idea that will manifest in that way. Thus, worry is a prayer for something one does not want. To avoid undesirable outcomes, we must learn to control our thoughts, especially when we are under emotional stress. Stress and emotion are forms of thought energy which fuel the creation of the image being held in our minds. Instead of worrying, we can replace such negative energy and thought-forms with a visual image of the desired outcome. In this way, we can help that positive image manifest rather than the unwanted one by feeding emotional energy into the thought form you fear. As we get into the habit of energizing only the positive, our thoughts, words and deeds will automatically reflect the higher state of mind. They will, in effect, stop creating new negative karma because they will no longer generate energy that has to be rebalanced, and their positive energy will begin paying off some of the debits in our past bad karma, which itself can manifest as unbalanced or negative thoughts.

Even if you cannot control your thinking, as when you might be in emotional duress, then begin acting in positive ways, such as focusing on the care and concern for others who may be in a more problematic situation than yourself. Or even begin praying for the benefit of those less fortunate. Your thoughts and consciousness will immediately begin to change into that which is positive and uplifting.

The decision to think and function in a positive mode is the first step in transmuting energy to a higher level, which means raising its vibratory rate. Energy transmuted in this way attracts even more positive energy, producing a snowball effect which assists in furthering the creation of a new, happier and more desirable future. Controlling your thought energies in this way can make a difference between success and failure, not only with yourself, but those with whom you associate or work. If you want to help yourself as well as your work partners, or even your enemies, you must practice this form of controlling your thoughts. Otherwise, if you are continually being negative or harboring low levels of thinking, it may be better for those around you to work separately if they wish to be successful, or at least happy. The reason is that you are not contributing to their success or desired future, and neither to your own. This is why transmuting your thoughts to higher and more positive levels of consciousness can determine the difference between success or failure, not only in business, but also in health, happiness, peace of mind, and in reaching your dreams.

One of the ways negative energy can harm you is when you harbor it for long periods of time and it accumulates and becomes lodged in your body. These energies are dense and vibrate at a level too low for the body to process and release. As a result, they become blocked and crystallized, manifesting at best as diminished stamina, loss of energy, or decreased mobility. Thus, stagnant, unreleased negative energy can eventually have a harmful effect and produce dis-ease. However, such energies can be released from the body and our consciousness through methods such as forgiveness, prayer, meditation, or through conscious transmutation, as described above.

Modern medicine is slowly accepting the reality of “mind over matter,” recognizing the power of the mind to influence the functioning of the human body. Therefore, it is in everybody’s best interest to learn to release low energy by first moving it out of the physical body, then the conscious and subconscious mind, and the etheric body and aura. People can accomplish this by a conscious release of old grudges and resentments, or by deliberately shattering it into smaller bits and pieces in order to make the release more effortless.

In addition, strive to “love your enemies,” as Jesus admonishes. Pray for them because such prayers decrease their power to hurt you, and the high energy released in the process will be returned to you in kind. Remember, everyone acts, positively or negatively, to express love or call for love.

Monitor your thoughts carefully. As you think of someone lovingly, angrily or lustfully, note how that person becomes unconsciously affected by your thoughts. Remember, thoughts are things. They are composed of the same electrical, spirit-based energy that pervades the rest of the universe. Thoughts have substance and power, and the more emotional energy people give them, the faster they will become a reality. The spoken word has the same force and creative energy. Therefore, those who learn to control their thoughts and words will control their future. Since humans are constantly creating, the only issue is whether they are being conscious creators or unconscious ones.

Think of plans that can assist the whole of humanity. Raise your level of consciousness. To understand that you are a co-creator is to be in harmony with the universe, acting as a servant of and co-worker with the Divine. If you fail to appreciate this reality, you can become destructive and are responsible for causing even more chaos in society or disharmony in your life. You can easily look around and recognize many others who have this same problem and create the described effects. So don’t be one of them. The choice is yours, and so are the consequences. You manifest what you hold in your consciousness.

Remember, thought is energy that can create your future. Begin thinking of how bright your future will be and begin creating the bright future for yourself that you have a right to. Then just do it!! Stick to your plan to make it a reality, and don’t give up. Don’t doubt yourself, and don’t become confused. Always go forward toward your goal. And only work with and depend on those who will help you reach your goals. You will succeed!!!

Why Changing Your Thinking Can Change Your Future

Your thoughts have created the life you are currently living, and you will be able to create your future with these same thoughts.

Each thought, whether at a conscious or unconscious level is always creating. Think of it as sowing and reaping; your thoughts are the sowing of seeds and your actions are the reaping of those thoughts. There are no thoughts that do not have an effect, every thought moves you in a particular direction.

Positive thoughts move you closer to your positive desires, while negative thoughts move you further away. You can never achieve a positive outcome while filling your mind with negative thoughts. Understanding the power of your mind and controlling your thoughts can lead to a much happier and fulfilling life.

In terms of wealth, it is my opinion that true wealth is experiencing abundance in every area of one’s existence. It serves no purpose to be financially successful and spiritually broke, or to have great friends and be in terrible health. A balance of abundance in every area should be the goal.

You must take control over creating the life of your dreams, all while minimizing the flow in of things that you do not want. The thoughts you think are constantly attracting things, situations, people and health into your life. Not believing in the power of this principle will not prevent it from working. Your thoughts are doing one of two things– they are moving you toward your goals or they are moving you away from your goals. Your past thoughts have shaped the world you live in today, and the thoughts you are thinking today are shaping your future.

Let’s use that powerful knowledge to create a better future!

The power of thought

Where do your thoughts come from?

We have thousands of individual thoughts per day and more than 90 per cent of these occur at the subconscious level. So, how can we possibly be expected to control all of these thoughts? An important first step towards controlling all of your thoughts is to understand how the conscious and subconscious minds work together. Consider the following example. You wake up one morning, and you are not feeling 100 per cent. You may consciously ask yourself, “Why do I feel badly today?” Your conscious mind takes your question, and asks it to the subconscious mind, in an attempt to find an answer to your question. The subconscious mind has been programmed over your lifetime through the results of your thoughts, habits, environments and experiences. It doesn’t know right from wrong, up from down, in from out, or black from white. Your subconscious mind only knows what you have programmed it to believe is true.

Therefore, when you consciously ask yourself “why do I feel badly?”, your brain hears “I don’t feel well”, and then it asks your subconscious mind to provide you with some answers, based on your past experiences.

I “feel bad” because:

I’m fat.

I party too much

My relationships stink

I don’t like my job

Armed with those kind of thoughts, your mind will start to attract more of the same thoughts throughout the day, and more of that same stuff will be attracted to you. Depending on how we answer the questions asked of the subconscious, we will go about our day trying to prove why we feel the way we do. We don’t feel good about ourselves when we look in the mirror, we get in an argument at work or our date does not go well. We are looking for proof to reflect why we ‘feel bad’.

The key to creating better results is to modify the way you think. You can do this by asking better questions of yourself, thereby filling your mind with more positive images. Here are some examples of positive questions you can ask yourself daily:

Why do I feel so good?

Why are my relationships so good?

Why do I feel so healthy today?

Why am I so grateful?

Similar to the previous example, we will go out into the world looking for proof and answers to the questions we asked. We’ll have a great day at work, eat a healthier meal or realize something we should be grateful for. Depending on the questions you ask, you can create different results! Look at your current situation and identify the areas of your life you would like to change. Even if things are going wonderfully well, there are always areas in your life that you can improve on. Maybe your family life is excellent, but perhaps you would like to see a change in your career. You may be financially secure and happy at home, but not healthy enough to have the energy to enjoy it. It’s time to start asking for, and thinking about what you want! Your life can be enhanced in some very positive ways!

Human beings are unique; they have the ability to project an image or an idea of what we want our future to look like. While most of us imagine a bright future, we often don’t hold onto that image long enough to create it in our lives. Rather than holding onto the image of our bright future, most of us focus on today’s images and issues and end up creating more of that for our future. When you focus on something for long enough, you create it! By identifying areas in your life, you would like to improve, you create an image of that desire and start moving towards it. The more vivid the image of the future, the faster we create the outcome. When we have faith in our ability to achieve it and are receptive to that image, we create power.

Your past thoughts have brought you to the reality you call “today”. If you are unhappy with your current reality, you must first take responsibility. While it is always easier to blame others, or place blame on situations, the reality is that you did “think your way into your situation.” Don’t be hard on yourself. Once you accept this responsibility, you also engage the power to change!

The cause and effect of thoughts can be subtle and are often slow moving; adding confusion to this simple principle. The effects of your thoughts can take some time to manifest into your reality. Just be aware that the thoughts you’re having today will project on to your life later today, tomorrow and into the future! In order to change your future, you must accept that today is just today…and make the best of it! Change your thoughts today no matter what is happening right NOW. Your thoughts can take you to the best and worst places— you alone get to decide which place it will be.

I meet thousands of people in my work. Some are incredibly successful and some struggle every day. What makes one person successful and the other not? Is it education, health, looks, geography or luck? Though these may play a small role, they are not what you need to have more of what you want.

Successful people have FOCUS. Consider the magnifying glass. When you move it around a piece of paper under direct sunlight, nothing happens. Stop the movement and focus the beam of light on one spot, and you create FIRE.

Focused energy creates powerful results.

To achieve more of what you want, stay focused on your desires even when the reality of today draws you towards worrying about what you don’t want. If you tend to struggle with relationships, focus your attention on the idea of what a great relationship would mean to you. How would you feel? What would you be doing? How would you act in that relationship? What type of a person would you be if you where in that relationship? Start to act that way today. Do not focus your attention on the last three bad relationships you went through. This is where many people go wrong. They focus on the reality of the last nasty relationship, and then find themselves in another bad relationship, very similar to the one they were in before.

If you struggle with your weight, focus your attention on your ideal weight and image. Think of what it would feel like if you were already at your ideal weight. How would you act differently? What would people say to you? How would it feel to go bathing suit shopping at your new weight? Many people focus their attention on the weight they need to lose and the process becomes about sacrifice. If you focus on “need to lose” you will create more “need to lose.”

Focus on the desired outcome and the mind will help you create constructive habits, to help you achieve your desired results.

Follow these simple steps to help you focus your thoughts on the right stuff:

Imagine the outcome in the present tense. Example, “I love how I feel in this new relationship” or “I feel great at 128”.

Consider how you would feel if you had it today.

Start acting as if you had the desired results today.

When images of the lack of the desired outcome enter into your thoughts, quickly change your thoughts back to your desired result.

Look at the areas of your life where you are already getting amazing results. In these areas, you know what you want, you believe you can have it and you live in such a way that allows it to come to you.

Alternatively, in the areas of your life where you have been struggling, you may know what you want, but you have been focusing on not having it. You don’t believe it will happen. Does this sound familiar? “I have tried to lose weight many times and I can’t keep it off” or “All of the good people are already in relationships.” Additionally, you are probably not living as if you already had your desired outcome. Are you living the lifestyle required to be at the weight you desire? Are you acting in the loving way you would need to while in a perfect relationship?

Be careful with your mind; you really will “Bring About What You Think About.”

Evaluate the areas of your life that are ideal and the areas that need work and you will find underlying empowering or disempowering thought patterns associated with each area.

Let’s explore this further with an activity. Identify areas in your life you want to improve. Think about what you want. This can be such items as health, relationships, travel, spirituality etc. Think about what defines success for you. Compare your “success symbols” with your feelings. How will you know that you have succeeded? Do you have a clear picture in your mind of what success looks like? How much do you weigh? Picture yourself in the perfect relationship, walking down the beach, while contemplating your achievements on the perfect vacation.

Write down your thoughts on the blank pages that follow.

Visualize your goals and make them vivid in your mind. Perhaps when you are done your meditation, you can visualize? This is an easy process… simply take some deep breaths and imagine yourself as if you already achieved your desired outcome. How does it make you feel? The next time something goes really well for you and you feel ten feet tall, capture that thought in your mind and remember it. Believe and have faith in your ability to create!

Quite often, we create patterns of thoughts that are self-defeating. The biggest issue created by how we talk to ourselves is that we actually believe everything we tell ourselves!

Imagine that these are the things you say to yourself everyday:

“That might work for them but it won’t work for me.”

“I’m not good at that.”

“I can’t do that”

“I have such a hard time losing weight, and I always just gain it back.

“I’ll never be able to lose that much weight.”

“There’s no one out there for me.”

“The economy is slow so I’ll have to settle for less.”

“There are just no jobs”

“I don’t have the skills to do that”

When you say it, it’s true. You will notice that the reverse is also true for areas of your life that you excel at.

When you say things positive things, as in the examples below, you create those truths in your life!

“I find math really easy.”

“I eat what I want and never gain weight.”

“There are lots of jobs out there.”

“I have a wonderful family and a happy home life.”

“If they can do it, so can I”

“I can do anything I put my mind to”

“The perfect person is waiting for me!”

“I am really good at (insert whatever you want here).”

Change the way you talk to yourself, and change your truth!

As you go about your day, think about how you talk to yourself in relation to where you are in your life.

Using the blank pages included, write down 5 examples of things you have said to yourself that are disempowering / negative / defeatist.

I could never do that!

I don’t have the skills to do that

I am shy and can’t talk to people.

I have a difficult time losing weight.

Everything I eat goes directly to my waist!

I’ll never find someone to love me.

All of the good ones are already taken.

There always seems to be more month than money.

That might work for you but it won’t work for me.

Now turn those phrases into success statements using positivity!

I can do anything!

I can learn any skills I need to, so that I can do what I want and I will attract all of the right people and information to me.

I have an easy time making friends and networking.

I eat healthy food and I am at my ideal weight.

I have found the perfect mate, and we are best friends!

All the money I need is on its way.

The people and resources I require flow toward me.

I am outgoing and friendly.

I can eat whatever I want, and I always maintain my ideal weight.

A Perfect Day, A Perfect Life
