The ceremony or ritual performed when someone walks by can mean letting go of worn out sides of yourself as you move through a transition. Dreams of visiting a crypt, grave or funeral or cemetery represent the passing of a side of you that you have outgrown. On the other hand, burial can also indicate that you have buried an aspect of yourself that is being explored and revived. The person being buried, your feelings about the situation, and the people present will provide clues to this shared dream of repression and the necessary transformation that is unfolding. One of the many challenges in planning a funeral is choosing the color of the coffin. Choosing the right coffin color is just as important as choosing the right coffin.

Some may not care much about the color of the coffin and can quickly choose one. Meanwhile, some consider the floral arrangements and outfit of the deceased to complement the color of the coffin.

If you are torn between different burial casket variations, the pink caskets, white caskets, and blue caskets are the most popular options in the US these days. We will help you choose the right coffin tone for yourself or your loved one.

White coffin

The color white is associated with various meanings and is one of the purest colors. White represents simplicity, purity, innocence, peace, tranquility and is the color of perfection. The color white represents new beginnings. In some cultures, white is associated with mourning for the deceased, which also means ending one’s life and starting a new life. So there is a pretty good meaning behind the color white. Although there is some negativity associated with the color white due to its coldness and isolation, there is a lot of positives if we look at the bright side.

Also, most white caskets are made of metal. The benefit of choosing a white coffin is that any floral arrangement or color of flower can go with it, including the outfit of the deceased. You can also opt for white roses and they would still look great.

With white caskets, the interior doesn’t have to be a big problem as it will easily match any color, be it lilac, pink, mahogany or baby blue. White is a popular color best suited to open-minded people who are always willing to share with the world.

Blue box

Blue is a versatile color that represents trust, loyalty, honesty and responsibility. If a person used to be kind or showed self-confidence, then burying them in a blue coffin is a perfect choice.

Blue is also an obvious choice for funerals as it is associated with sadness or “feeling blue”. Above all, this color also stands for peace and quiet.

Like any color with positive and negative connotations, blue can signify calm, wisdom, and serenity, while also signifying depression or authority. Whatever the case, on the bright side, blue conveys a comforting sense of peace.

In some cultures, blue symbolizes paradise, a sign of hope, healing, and sadness. Which also makes sense when choosing a blue coffin for the funeral. Best of all, blue represents the sky.

Blue caskets go best with any color, such as: B. Pink, white, peach or gold tones, and floral arrangements with these color combinations can enhance the appearance of the casket and look appropriate.

Aside from not being able to decide between these colors, it should be easier to decide if your loved one or yourself has a distinctive color or a specific color that represents your or her personality. Or why not choose a color that reflects their taste? It would add more meaning!

If you really can’t decide, optionally choose a coffin, either white, pink or blue, and if you choose white, the interior can be reversed blue. If you only want to use one color, you can choose the other color for flower arrangement. The options are many and the best advantage is that these two colors complement each other. Pink box

It’s a stereotype for sure, but the pink color has always been associated with femininity and possibly purity. Many people think of this as a “girly” color, but its multiple levels of intensity can send different messages.

A pale pink tells a story about a sweet person, while a dusty pink is more sentimental. Go with a light pink for a very romantic woman.

At the end of the scale we find Pink speaking of a person who was incredibly energetic, fun and adventurous.

Many refer to soft pink as “millennial pink” as the generation loves the blush tones.

Pink caskets are very popular all over the world these days, especially in the US. Today, pink caskets are used not only by women, but also by men, and there is nothing wrong with that.

As always, everyone must choose what is closest to their personality, the coffin is a very intimate item that completes each person’s long life journey, and the decision about its color must be made correctly.

A sarcophagus is a stone coffin or container to hold a coffin. Although early sarcophagi were made to hold coffins inside, the term now refers to any stone coffin placed above ground. The earliest stone sarcophagi were used by 3rd dynasty Egyptian pharaohs, who ruled from about 2686 to 2613 BC. reigned.

The ancient Egyptians believed in life after death, and the sarcophagus was said to be the eternal dwelling place of those within. The sarcophagi of pharaohs and wealthy residents were intricately decorated with carvings and paintings. The earliest sarcophagi were designed for the Egyptian pharaohs and reflected the architecture of their palaces. The Egyptians believed that remembering a person’s name would ensure that he or she would live on in the afterlife, so a sarcophagus usually also contained the name of the person or persons buried within. Exterior decorations can also record the accomplishments of the deceased. Sarcophagi also typically contained a list of food offerings, a door for the soul to pass through, and eyes so the deceased could continue to see the world. Eventually, sarcophagi were carved to look like the person inside, following the curvature of the mummy’s body. Sarcophagi can contain more than one coffin. They often had gabled roofs. From the end of the 13th century, sarcophagi were placed on sleds or runners to make it easier to pull them to the cemetery.

The sarcophagus was an important part of an elaborate burial process. The ancient Egyptians believed that they would live on in the afterlife. They prepared a dead person for this afterlife by embalming the body and wrapping it in linen, a process known as mummification. The body was then carefully placed in a mummy box – a box that fit between the mummy and the coffin. The coffin was then placed in the sarcophagus. Sometimes the sarcophagus served instead of a coffin.

Some sarcophagi remained hidden for thousands of years. In July 2018, for example, Egyptian archaeologists were exploring a huge 30-ton black granite sarcophagus that had been discovered at a construction site in Alexandria, Egypt. Inside were the remains of three mummies. Early reports that they were military officers were disproved when DNA analysis revealed that one of the bodies was a woman. Unlike the sarcophagi of the wealthy class, there were no inscriptions on the sarcophagus nor any objects buried with the bodies inside except for a small gold artifact and three gold leaves. This leaves few clues as to who they were or when they lived, and creates just the kind of mystery that archaeologists love to solve.

In addition to ancient Egypt, ancient Rome and Greece are also known for the use of sarcophagi. The carvings on the sarcophagi and the treasures within never cease to amaze and delight historians and scientists, providing insights into ancient cultures.

Biblical symbolism of the color black in dreams, what that means in practice, with real dream examples.

In this article, I take inspiration from the Bible to explore the potential spiritual meaning of dreams.

We’ll delve into the mystery of its symbolism in positive and negative contexts, including some real dream examples!

I approach dream interpretation from a biblical perspective. My belief is that our dreams can come from God and are best understood in the context of an ongoing relationship with Him.

The symbolic nature of dreams

Firstly, if you just came across this post and are new to dream interpretation, it is worth noting that dreams are symbolic in nature. You may find it helpful to Understand Your Dreams: A Biblical Introduction to Dream Language and my 3-Step Dream Interpretation Method to give you a foundation.

Second, remember that dreams are personal, so the meanings I suggest may not apply to your specific dream. But please feel free to use my ideas as a springboard to start thinking and praying about dreams for yourself. Don’t take my ideas as gospel, let them help you think metaphorically.

Introduction to the color black

Black is a wonderful color. In decoration it is the darkest color in the palette – due to its complete absorption of light. It exudes elegance and sophistication. Over the centuries it has had many different cultural associations.

The color black is sometimes negatively contextualized in films and media (think of the Black Riders in The Lord of the Rings, for example). However, the color often appears in my dreams in a positive context. That’s what I want to focus on.

As with any dream symbol, black can have both positive and negative meanings in dreams. The context, feeling, and atmosphere of a dream give us clues that help us decide whether to interpret it positively or negatively.

Positive meaning of black: mystery

Most commonly, when the context is positive, the color black in dreams represents mystery in the biblical sense of the word. This is how God uses it most often in my dreams – and I love it!

Our modern conception of mysteries suggests something unknown that cannot be understood or explained. It’s “black” because you can’t see it. However, that doesn’t adequately describe what we’re talking about.

Mystery has a deeper meaning in the Bible. It feels like something secret and hidden, but it also carries the hope that God has hidden it for us to find. It tells us that there is something to seek and to discover. It carries the excitement of a treasure hunt!

The secret is black because you cannot see it now, but it holds a promise that you will see and understand in due course.

Examples of mysteries in the Bible

Here are some examples from the Bible that illustrate this:

Daniel 2:47, NASB The king answered Daniel and said, “Surely your God is the God of gods and Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you were able to reveal this mystery.”

The king answered Daniel and said: “Surely your God is the God of gods and Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, since you were able to reveal these things.” Mark 4:11, NASB And He (Jesus) said to them: “You have been given the mystery of the kingdom of God.

And He (Jesus) said to them: “The kingdom of God has been given to you. Colossians 1:26, NASB…the mystery that was hidden ages and generations past, but has now been revealed to His saints.

..that which was hidden ages and generations past, but has now been revealed to His saints. 1 Corinthians 15:51, NASB Behold, I tell you a secret. ..

Behold, I tell you a.. Revelation 17:7, NASB And the angel said to me: “Why do you wonder? I’ll tell you the secret…”

In each of these examples we can see that something was not initially understood but was revealed at the right time! There is a feeling of understanding something that was not understood before. How exciting!

Real dream examples: Black as a mystery

I’ve included some examples from my own dreams in hindsight in the table below so you can see how this works in practice:

DREAM INTERPRETATION EXPLANATION I was walking through a forest looking for a black bear, and then I suddenly spotted one on the path right in front of me. This dream was given to me at a time when I was seeking God for something and wanted to give up. The dream told me not to give up because the answer would be right in front of me when the time came. Our family recently vacationed in the US in the mountains and I was dying to see a black bear! So I knew this was a positive dream symbol for me. A scene at the end of a long dream – I was taken to a hotel and given a nice new black skirt to replace my old one. I would get a new role that I couldn’t imagine at the time of dreaming. It would be revealed in due course, so I could be patient and hold on to that hope. Clothing in dreams often represents what we are called to do and whether we are equipped for that task. The black skirt was positive because it carried the hope of something beautiful and new. I got a necklace that consisted of alternating dark pink and black beads. God encouraged me that as my relationship with Him deepened, new insights and understandings would come to me. Pink can be about our relationship with God. The deep color suggested that deeper intimacy would come with revealing secrets.

More positive meanings of black

Here are a few other positive uses of black I’ve found in the Bible:

Song of Songs 5:11, NIV says, “His head is of purest gold; his hair is wavy and jet black.” Black hair in this quote is a symbol of youth, attractiveness and vitality. There are no gray hairs here!

Psalm 97:2, NIV says of God, “Clouds and dense darkness surround him,” so sometimes darkness can be positive and represent God’s presence. For example, a black cloud in a dream could be God.

Negative meaning of black: darkness

I think we sometimes use the word “black” when we actually mean “darkness”. For example, we use it to describe stormy conditions (like in black clouds) or to refer to night time. This is certainly true in the Bible, and correlates with the idea of ​​the absence of light rather than color itself. Consider the following verses:

1 Kings 18:45, NASB After a while the sky turned black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy shower

In a little while the sky grew with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy shower Proverbs 7:9, YLT In the twilight—evening of the day, In the darkness of the night and darkness.

In the twilight – in the evening of the day, In the darkness of night and night. Jeremiah 4:28, YLT The land mourns over it, and the heavens above are black.

From the dream perspective, black can also be used to represent something that is not of God. As we have just seen, this has more to do with a lack of light or a lack of God’s presence. This could be the case when we find ourselves acting independently of God, or it could be from the “enemy” in Christian language. This could be a black object, or the dream is set in a dark place or at night.

Black is also sometimes used in the Bible to represent things like famines or difficult times (e.g. the black horse in Revelation 6).

True dream examples: Black as darkness

Here are some other examples from my own dreams where the context or atmosphere of the dream indicated to me that the color black was being used in a negative context.

Note, however, that the interpretation was still positive and God used the dreams to give me courage and hope. It’s really important!

DREAM INTERPRETATION EXPLANATION In the dream I was wearing a dark or black costume in a shady place. The whole dream was dark. I did something I shouldn’t have done because it was my idea, not God’s. The dream gave me the opportunity to change direction. The place felt “dodgy,” suggesting that this was negative context and that God was not in what I was doing. In late 2019 I dreamed I saw a huge black cloud rising in the air behind Windsor Castle, then coming towards us. A great fight ensued and I had to stop what I was doing to escape. This indicated that difficult times were ahead in the UK and that this would have an impact on my work. This proved prophetic for COVID-19 affecting the UK. Windsor Castle represented England to me. Here the black cloud is a negative context. This dream later encouraged me because I could see that God knew all along what was to come. A few years ago I dreamed that a church leader rushed in and told me a storm was going to pass, then I saw it pass. It was pitch black. This dream warned me that our church would be going through a difficult time, but it would pass. Black is used here

means darkness, which in turn indicates difficult or stormy times. But it gave me courage to know that we would get through this.

Conclusion

In a positive context, black usually represents mystery (something good that needs to be discovered or understood in due course). In a negative sense, it symbolizes difficult times in general.

Here are a few final thoughts:

The color black in a dream could represent a number of things. The ideas above should give you a good starting point.

I believe that only God can tell us what it means in a specific dream, so you could try asking Him!

Consider the atmosphere and context of the dream to see if the color is being used in a positive or negative sense.

In addition to the biblical meanings I have shared, keep in mind that it may mean something personal or cultural to you that is not mentioned here.

There are few things in design that are more subjective—or important—than the use of color. A color that may evoke one reaction in one person may evoke the opposite reaction in another, due to culture, past association, or even just personal preference. Receive email updates on upcoming articles.

Color theory is a science and an art in itself, upon which some build entire careers, as a color consultant or sometimes as a brand consultant. Knowing how color affects the majority of people is an incredibly valuable skill for designers to master and offer to their clients.

However, there is a lot behind it. Something as simple as changing the exact hue or saturation of a color can create an entirely different feel. Cultural differences can amplify these effects, with a hue that’s cheerful and uplifting in one country becoming depressing in another.

This is the first part of a three part series on color theory. Here we will discuss the meanings behind the different color families and give some examples of how these colors are used (with a bit of analysis for each). In part 2 we will talk about how hue, chroma, value, saturation, tones, tints and shades affect the way we perceive color. And in Part 3, we’ll discuss how to create effective color palettes for your own designs.

Warm colours

Warm colors include red, orange, and yellow, and variations of these three colors. These are the colors of fire, autumn leaves, and sunsets and sunrises, and are generally energizing, passionate, and positive.

Red and yellow are both primary colors, with orange falling in the middle (making it a secondary color), meaning that warm colors are all really warm and aren’t created by combining a warm color with a cool color. Use warm colors in your designs to reflect passion, happiness, enthusiasm and energy.

Red (Primary Color)

Red is a very hot color. It is associated with fire, violence and war. It is also associated with love and passion. In history, it has been associated with both the devil and cupid. Red can actually have a physical effect on people by increasing blood pressure and respiratory rate. It has also been shown to improve human metabolism.

Red can be associated with anger, but also with importance (think of the red carpet at award shows and celebrity events). Red also indicates danger (the reason traffic lights and signs are red and that warning signs are often red).

Outside the western world, red has different associations. In China, for example, red is the color of prosperity and good luck. It can also be used to attract good luck. In other Eastern cultures, red is worn by brides on their wedding days. In South Africa, on the other hand, red is the color of mourning. Red is also associated with communism.

Red has become the color associated with AIDS awareness in Africa due to the popularity of the [RED] campaign.

In design, red can be a strong accent color. It can have an overwhelming effect when used too often in designs, especially in its purest form. It is a great color when there is power or passion to be represented in the design. However, red can be very versatile, with lighter versions being more energetic and darker hues being more powerful and elegant.

Bigsound Buzz’s website uses a monochromatic design of different shades and tones of red, which in this case creates a poppy retro vibe. (2010)

Build in Amsterdam’s website uses a bright red accent color that immediately draws attention to the center of the page. (2010)

orange (secondary color)

Orange is a very vibrant and energetic color. In its muted forms it can be associated with the earth and autumn. Because of its association with the changing seasons, orange can represent change and movement in general. Orange is also strongly associated with creativity.

Because orange is associated with the fruit of the same name, it can be associated with health and vitality. In designs, orange grabs attention without being as overwhelming as red. It is often seen as friendlier and more welcoming and less intrusive.

Bitter Renter’s bright and bold homepage makes full use of the energy orange can bring to a design.

We Are Not Sisters’ dark orange, oversized typography makes an instant impression. (2010)

The subtle use of orange as an accent color in Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street shows that it can be used in more elegant and conservative designs. (2010)

Sbjct mixes a subtle peach color with a dark orange for a more monochromatic design that still has plenty of energy. (2010)

For the typography, Robin De Niro also uses a very light peachy background with two tones of orange in a much more subtle design.

yellow (primary color)

Yellow is often considered the brightest and most energizing of the warm colors. It is associated with luck and sunshine. However, yellow can also be associated with deceit and cowardice (calling someone yellow is calling them a coward).

Yellow is also associated with hope, as seen in some countries when families who have loved ones at war display yellow ribbons. Yellow is also associated with danger, although not as strongly as red.

In some countries, yellow has very different connotations. In Egypt, for example, yellow represents mourning. In Japan it represents courage and in India it is a color for merchants.

In your designs, bright yellow can bring a sense of happiness and happiness. Softer shades of yellow are often used as a gender-neutral color for babies (rather than blue or pink) and toddlers. Bright yellow also conveys a calmer feeling of happiness than bright yellow. Dark yellow and golden yellow can sometimes look aged and can be used in designs where a sense of permanence is desired.

Susa Ventures uses a goldenrod color as an accent color in their typography to great effect.

cold colors

Cool colors like green, blue, and purple are often more muted than warm colors. They are the colors of the night, of the water, of nature and usually have a calming, relaxing and somewhat reserved effect.

Blue is the only primary color within the cool spectrum, meaning the other colors are created by combining blue with a warm color (yellow for green and red for purple).

For this reason, green takes on some of the characteristics of yellow and purple some of the characteristics of red. Use cool colors in your designs to convey a sense of calm or professionalism.

Green (secondary color)

Green is a very down-to-earth color. It can represent new beginnings and growth. It also signifies renewal and abundance. Alternatively, green can also represent envy or jealousy and lack of experience.

Green shares many of the same calming qualities as blue, but it also contains some of yellow’s energy. In design, green can have a balancing and harmonizing effect and is very stable.

It is suitable for designs related to prosperity, stability, renewal and nature. Lighter green is more energizing and vibrant, while olive green is more representative of the natural world. Dark green is the most stable and representative of prosperity.

The website for Memory is Our Homeland uses a teal hue energized by the yellow typography without being too garish.

The Rhythm of Food website uses a light kelly green that is ideal for a website that blends food and information.

Rich hunter green is a great accent color on an elegant restaurant website like Le Farfalle Osteria. (2010)

Anna Rosa Krau’s website has a soft sage green background that looks almost neutral for this portfolio.

HelloMind’s light green background is youthful and conveys a sense of growth (in line with their product for improving your brain function).

Bold and modern, Studio Farquhar’s lime green accents stand out with their minimalist layout.

Blue (Primary Color)

Blue is often associated with sadness in the English language. Blue is also commonly used to represent calm and responsibility. Light blue can be refreshing and friendly. Dark blue ones are stronger and more reliable. Blue is also associated with peace and has spiritual and religious connotations in many cultures and traditions (for example, the Virgin Mary is generally depicted in blue robes).

The meaning of blue depends heavily on the exact shade and hue. When it comes to design, the exact shade of blue you choose has a huge impact on how your designs are perceived. Light blue often has a relaxed and calming effect. Light blue can be stimulating and refreshing. Dark blue, like navy, is excellent for corporate locations or designs where strength and reliability are important.

Purple (secondary color)

In ancient times, the dyes used to create purple hues were extracted from snails and were very expensive, only royalty and the very wealthy could afford them.

Purple is a combination of red and blue, inheriting some attributes from both. It is also associated with creativity and imagination.

In Thailand, purple is the mourning color for widows. Darker purples are traditionally associated with wealth and nobility, while lighter purples (like lavender) are considered more romantic.

In design, dark shades of purple can convey a sense of wealth and luxury. Light shades of purple are softer and associated with spring and romance.

The website for the One Shared House documentary uses a vibrant shade of purple and accents of pink to convey a sense of energy, creativity and imagination.

On the content stack, purple red works well as an accent color against a neutral background, drawing attention to important page elements like buttons.

Purple is the perfect shade for a creative endeavor like KIKK Festival 2016.

neutrals

Neutral colors often serve as a background in design. They are often combined with lighter accent colors. However, they can also be used alone in designs and create very sophisticated layouts. The meanings and impressions of neutral colors are much more influenced by the colors surrounding them than warm and cool colors.

Black

Black is the strongest of the neutral colors. On the plus side, it is commonly associated with power, elegance, and formality. On the negative side, it can be associated with evil, death, and mystery. Black is the traditional color of mourning in many western countries. It is also associated with rebellion in some cultures and associated with Halloween and the occult.

Black, when not only used as an accent or for text, is often used in fancier designs, but also in very elegant designs. It can be either conservative or modern, traditional or bohemian, depending on what colors it is paired with. In design, black is often used for typography and other functional parts due to its neutrality. Black can make it easier to convey a sense of sophistication and mystery in a design.

The black hue used here along with the animation gives it an edgy, almost spooky feel.

White

White is on the opposite end of the spectrum from black, but like black, it can pair well with almost any other color. White is often associated with purity, cleanliness and virtue. In the West, white is commonly worn by brides on their wedding day. It is also associated with the healthcare industry, specifically doctors, nurses, and dentists. White is associated with goodness, and angels are often depicted in white.

Gray

Gray is a neutral color that generally falls on the cool end of the color spectrum. It can sometimes be seen as moody or depressing. In some designs, light shades of gray can be used in place of white, and dark shades of gray can be used in place of black.

Gray is generally conservative and formal, but it can also be modern. It is sometimes considered the color of mourning. It is often used in corporate designs where formality and professionalism are paramount. It can be a very sophisticated color. Pure grays are blacks, although other grays may contain blues or browns. Beige and light brown

Immediately see a body

Some people who suddenly mourn have no choice whether or not to ever see the body because they see the body at a very early stage due to the circumstances.

Some witnesses of death. For example, people witnessing the death of someone close to them in a traffic accident or drowning or sudden medical death.

Other people arrive at the place of death shortly after this death. For example, someone discovers the suicide of a loved one or is made aware by someone else of the recent death of a loved one nearby.

When they later related this experience to researchers about sudden bereavement, bereaved families who witnessed or arrived at the scene shortly after a death suddenly said they felt an overwhelming desire to be with the dead person; to hug and touch and comfort them. They didn’t want the dead person to be alone and they wanted the dead person to be with someone who loves them. In other words, the grieving person still felt that their deceased loved one had a “social identity” and needed nurturing [1]. Often during this time, people who are suddenly bereaved resist any attempt by professionals or other caregivers to keep them away from their loved one’s body.

The bereaved person’s experience of seeing their loved one’s body at this time will be different than seeing their loved one’s body later. At this early stage there will be no control over whether or not they see any visible injuries or physical damage on the body of their deceased loved one. You cannot prepare for the situation you are in. In violent disasters, it’s often a chaotic, fast-paced experience.

Later see a corpse

After a sudden death, there are usually opportunities to see the body in a more formal and usually much quieter setting, such as when it is laid out in a mortuary or funeral home. There are often many people who were close to the deceased person, including children, who may wish to see the body at this stage and who did not see the body at the time of death.

Deciding to see the body of a loved one is a big decision. It causes a suddenly grieving person to experience something that would normally create a strong memory central to the bereavement experience. This can be a memory viewed positively or negatively, or both. However, the feelings that result from this memory can change over time.

Deciding not to see a body is also a big decision. It can lead to feelings of regret for not having seen the reality of death with “my own eyes”. This is arguably something more commonly felt in sudden deaths due to the unexpected and unforeseen nature of death and the sense of unreality that often accompanies it.

A University of Oxford study published in the British Medical Journal [1] surveyed people who were suddenly struck by their experience of seeing or not seeing the body of their loved one.

It concluded:

Many people who have survived a sudden and traumatic death find it important to see the body of their loved one.

Within a family, however, there will be different attitudes; some survivors may want to watch, some may not, and some may find watching helpful while others may find it distressing.

Seeing a damaged body is inevitably distressing, but has often been unrepented in research. Doctors should not assume that seeing an injured or injured body will hurt loved ones.

Those who had mixed feelings or regretted seeing the body felt they had lacked choice or preparation.

The way loved ones relate to the body can be a strong clue to professionals as to whether the deceased person retains a social identity for the bereaved.

Therefore, while many suddenly grieving people may find this experience helpful, it is not advisable to encourage a suddenly grieving person to see a body. To help a bereaved person make the best choice for them, you can help them by asking relevant questions and providing them with relevant information. The following guide will help you with this.

A body can be different in death than in life

Some people who are suddenly grieving may want to see the body of their loved one because they have previously had a positive experience of seeing a body, such as a grandparent who has passed away in old age. When someone dies of old age, their dead body often looks a lot like their living body. However, when someone dies suddenly in infancy or midlife, their body can look very different than it did when they were alive. This is especially the case if their death was violent or they had an urgent medical procedure such as major surgery prior to their death.

A body in death can differ from life because:

Injury or surgery has damaged the body. For example, the color of the skin has changed due to internal bleeding, or the facial appearance of the body has changed due to a broken jaw or cuts, etc.

a mortician or undertaker has altered the appearance of a corpse through clothing, hairstyle, or cosmetics. Such “dressing” of the body can be very different from how the person would have done in life.

the body smells different. For example, due to embalming processes or antiseptics used during an operation.

Maggie says, “I had seen my grandmother’s body, so I wasn’t worried about seeing my husband’s body. I knew that seeing my grandmother’s body had helped me come to terms with her death, so I thought it would be the same when I saw Gary’s body. I just didn’t realize how different it would be. Gary’s body was destroyed in the car accident. When he was in the hospital’s intensive care unit, the staff had wired his broken jaw and didn’t bother to tell me it was broken because he had so many internal injuries and other broken bones that they thought his jaw be unimportant information; a small detail. But when he died and I went to see the body, I was deeply shocked that his face looked so collapsed. I figured he’d look about the same in death as he did when he was on life support. I remember yelling “That’s not my husband” and running out. It was terrible. I felt horrible and felt like I had behaved horribly with no self-control. This left me with feelings of misery and some embarrassment.”

Therefore, as someone helping a bereaved person, it is useful to know what changes have occurred to a body and firstly to tell a bereaved person that there have been changes and secondly to ask the bereaved person if they would like to know the details of those changes to help them decide whether or not to look at a corpse.

Some bereaved families may not want to be informed of changes to the body and may not want to see the body. They may want to remember the person as they were in life and not disturb that memory in any way, either by telling them what the body looks like or by seeing the body.

Some bereaved families may wish to be informed of the changes, but then choose not to see the body.

Some of the bereaved may wish to be informed of the changes and then choose to see the body.

Some survivors may wish to discover the changes themselves and may not be receptive to second-hand information.

The viewing experience

Charlotte came to see her sister’s body. She was taken to an empty room without explanation. Without warning, a curtain was pulled back and she found herself just a meter from her sister’s body on a table behind the curtain

Charlotte says: “It was like a magic trick and a terrible shock. I wanted out immediately. I burst into tears and only stayed a few minutes. I really regret how I felt about it and the whole experience.”

John went to a hospital morgue to look at his son’s body. He was taken to a small intimate room containing only his son’s body. While he was in the room, a morgue employee stood solemnly in the corner. “It was very strange. I had anticipated this time with my son’s body and wanted it to be special and private. But this man was in the corner the whole time. I remember feeling very insecure and feeling like he was a prison guard; there to make sure I didn’t do anything stupid like run away with the body. It didn’t make me feel good. It was such a vivid experience that I remember every single detail. I remember the man was wearing a white coat with a small enamel steam engine badge on it. I have no idea why; I assume he was a railroad enthusiast. But I do remember thinking, “Why are you interrupting my private grieving experience by being there and making me think of steam trains when I want to think of my son?” It made me unduly angry with the man at a very difficult time did.”

Every detail of the viewing experience is important, and every detail can be explained to a person viewing a body before viewing a body. As someone caring for the suddenly grieving person, you can help by:

Talk to the bereaved about what you want the experience to be like. Do they have wishes, for example do they want to be left alone or only see the body from a distance or through glass?

Talk to the morgue staff about what the experience will be like. For example, will a bereaved person be able to touch the body? Sometimes this is not possible for forensic reasons. Are parts of the body covered because they are too damaged? Are there parts that the bereaved should not touch because they are fragile? What will the room look like and will someone else be there?

Every word counts

Jane was only five when her father died. Her mother told her, “Daddy’s not here anymore. His body is here, but the rest of him went to heaven.” Jane, now an adult, recalls being shocked when she saw her father’s body because he had a head, arms and legs. She had thought the word “body” meant his torso, so she figured she was only seeing his chest and abdomen and that his head and limbs had “risen into the sky to another planet.”

When giving information to someone who is considering viewing a corpse, it is important to ensure that your information is understood. This is especially important when speaking to children or people who communicate in a second language or who have hearing problems.

Concentration is difficult when you are suddenly grieving, so important details may need to be repeated.

One way to ensure your information is understood is to think through continued conversation and repetition. For example: “I told you a few things that I will now list again. I have told you that you cannot touch your father’s chest area and that only his head and hands will be exposed and that his eyes will be closed and his skin color will be purple due to internal bleeding. I told you there would be an undertaker present. Do you have any thoughts on what that experience might be like for you if you decide to see him?

If more than one person wants to see the same body, talk to those people about whether they want to do the viewing alone or together. Sometimes the auditoriums are small and easily overcrowded, reducing the quality of the experience. Children’s experiences need to be managed with special care, ensuring that they are accompanied by an adult helper who will provide them with adequate support to understand what they are seeing.

It is also important for bereaved families to consider what they will do after seeing a body. Will they be able to sit somewhere safe and quiet and have a few minutes to themselves and offer a hot drink before facing the world again? what will be their plans for the rest of the day; Will it be possible to do something relaxing that doesn’t require long trips with people they trust and know?

Religious rules and rituals

In dealing with the experience, it is important to be aware of and consider the implications of any religious rules or rituals to be followed by a person contemplating the body, such as: such as touching and preparing a body by procedures such as washing and swaddling, or allowing only certain people to visit at certain times.

The importance of such rules or rituals for loved ones should be considered with the same sensitivity as the need for an autopsy by pathologists and forensic scientists. Some families may object to body touching by a non-believer, but there is no rule for this in Hinduism, Islam or Sikhism in emergency situations. In Islam, invasive autopsy (cutting open the body) is forbidden and it may be possible in certain circumstances and in some countries to arrange for a non-invasive autopsy.

It is important to be sensitive to cultural and religious differences and to counsel with families to determine their unique needs. While there are some general rules, it is important not to make assumptions based on religious or cultural background. However, knowing other backgrounds can facilitate communication and understanding.

Police often ask for a body to be identified; but sometimes nobody wants to see the body. In this case, some countries allow identification by photo or glass.

I always thought black was one of the neutral colors along with white and gray. I find that the right use of black creates a stunning effect when decorating or dressing. isn’t that bad, but if you’re not satisfied, you can blame it on the knowledge test! I have to admit that the tests are a bit difficult to put together, so there’s definitely room for error :)) Now I know why getting top scores on tests in magazines is so difficult; it’s up to the tests and those who do them! So I’m sure you can be satisfied with your knowledge of how to dress in black.

I’ve also learned as I’ve gotten older that some days it really doesn’t matter if I dress wrong as long as I like it myself! But I do think that a lot of people could do more with this great color.

Black is an interesting color and I think most people like to wear black. During the winter season it can get a bit crowded in Sweden as everyone wears black or gray clothes, so we really need the bright colors here!

Black is also used here in the US to denote monetary success. If you’re “in the black” – meaning your financial records don’t have negative red ink – red ink on your balance sheets means you’re losing money. We also have Black Friday – just before Christmas. This is when traders hope to have the most profitable day of the year.

Black is beautiful. A black accessory will add a touch of elegance to a plain jacket, dress, blouse or even a handbag. Women are always safe with a long black skirt paired with a blouse of any color and a black accessory.

I prefer to think of black as a color of luxury. Besides that – I have a black Mercedes that I kick myself for. It always looks dirty 🙂 But no other color is so noticeable right after washing and polishing. Too bad it’s so short lived.

I also see black as a color, Alastar and a very good color too! I can’t think of any other color with such mixed signals and so many messages attached to the color itself. I use black in many different ways and it’s a color that’s very useful. Black lingerie for example is very pretty and thanks for the compliment 🙂 I thought it went well with the red wallpaper too! Sex and black make a great team 🙂

There are way too many business people dressed in black who become almost invisible in a group and I bet they don’t even think about it. I once had a physics lecturer at the university who wore all black to his lectures, but he had bright red shoes! Now I can’t remember what his face looked like after that, but because of his red shoes I will always remember him! I wonder if he knew then what an effect his red shoes had 🙂

But sometimes I feel like it’s too black around me and too many people are only dressed in black. I try to use other colors as an accent color to all that black. i love black I find it so easy to get dressed and I think people look good when they’re dressed all in black, especially when the clothes fit properly. Why you dream of cats

“Dreams are subconscious thoughts,” says certified dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg. When you dream about cats, she says it’s not coincidence – it’s your subconscious making metaphors about what’s going on in your life. “The cat in your dream is a part of you or something or someone that affects you directly,” says Loewenberg. “The cat’s state or condition, the cat’s behavior, how you interact with the cat, what you think about the cat and how you feel about the cat while in the dream, all of these things are likely to correlate with what your life is going on in it now.”

Cats can also represent intimacy, Loewenberg tells Bustle — so if you’re busy with something in your love life, cat dreams could be your future. Accordingly, if you are a person who menstruates, Loewenberg suggests that your cat dreams may be related to getting your period and the emotions that come with it.

What the cat is actually doing in your dream can affect its symbolism as well. “The cat’s condition and the cat’s behavior in your dream will resemble something that is going on in your waking life,” says Loewenberg. “A missing cat could mean you feel something is missing in the intimacy department. A playful cat could mean you’re having lots of fun in this department, while a biting or clawing cat can be a warning from your subconscious that what you’re “in” might not be good for you. Her opinion is that cat biting and scratching in dreams is quite common among people with difficult PMS symptoms.

What do cat dreams mean?

Depending on your own beliefs, any number of religious, mythological, or folkloric interpretations of cat symbolism could explain why a cat appears in one of your dreams and what such an appearance could mean for you. Cats appear as symbols in a variety of circumstances and situations – the Egyptian deity Bastet, for example, was traditionally represented as a part-cat; sometimes her head was that of a lion, while others were that of a domesticated cat. She was considered the deity of protection, fertility, music and dance. In the folklore and mythology of many cultures, cats are believed to do everything from holding babies’ breath to good luck and bad luck.

When contemplating your cat dreams, you should also consider your relationship with cats in your waking life, says Loewenberg. “Are you highly allergic to cats and avoid them at all costs? Then the cat in your dream may represent a person in your life or behavior that is not good for you and that you need to avoid,” she explains. “Do you notice the independent, aloof nature of a cat? Then the cat in your dream may represent your own need for independence.”

She also points out that cats are known for always landing on their feet. “If that’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a cat’s nature, then the cat may represent your own ability to stand still after a difficulty,” says Loewenberg.

Essentially, cat dreams can mean different things to different people, and whether you’re a cat person or not can affect what your kitty nightmares symbolize.

How to calm your cat dreams

If your cat dreams are upsetting you, tune in to what’s going on in IRL to try and fix your sleep land. “The best way to change or end a disturbing dream is to pinpoint the problem it’s associated with and correct it, giving the dream no reason to come back,” says Loewenberg. “If a dream upsets or frightens you, ask yourself what is going on in your waking life that is evoking the same emotion. That’s what your dream is trying to help you process, she explains.

Add in what cats mean to you IRL and what they do in your dreams and you might find the perfect metaphor for that tricky situation with your partner or conflict with your boss. Work on addressing these dilemmas in your waking life, and your dreams may become less cheesy.
