Can you drink 100% alcohol?

According to Livestrong.org, “The approximate lethal dose of 90 to 100 percent isopropanol for human adults is only 250 milliliters, or about 8 ounces.” Eight ounces. To put it in perspective: the average shot glass is 1.5 ounces. A can of Coke is 12 ounces. Ingesting only eight ounces of rubbing alcohol can kill you.

In the 1970s and 1980s, parents taped bright green, demented “Mr. Yuk” stickers on toxic household items – including rubbing alcohol – to warn vulnerable children and adults against consuming or inhaling the poison. The poison warning labels eventually proved ineffective on children, but the image still lingers in many people’s minds: rubbing alcohol is a poison.

Those with chronic alcohol use disorder, however, probably don’t think about these poison awareness stickers. Those struggling with alcoholism or addiction may see that rubbing alcohol has “alcohol” in its title, know that it’s cheaper than fermented or distilled ethanol alcohol, it’s widely available over-the-counter (and under the counter, like many people buy it) available under kitchen and bathroom sinks, especially if there’s no risk of small children accidentally ingesting it), and drinking too much of it can lead to poisoning. The side effects of alcohol poisoning mirror those of an intoxicated person, but it’s nowhere near the same alcohol you buy at liquor stores. This substance is a poison. Drinking even a small amount can have fatal consequences.

Ingesting or inhaling rubbing alcohol can quickly lead to alcohol poisoning—even death.

There are three types of alcohol classified by chemists: isopropyl, methyl, and ethyl alcohol. Most types of rubbing alcohol are made from isopropyl alcohol, with concentrations ranging from 68-99 percent alcohol in water. It’s colorless, tastes awful, smells like nail polish remover, and can be found in antiseptic hand sanitizers, antifreeze, household cleaners, paint thinners, personal care products, and sterilizers commonly used in medical facilities (it’s known as “surgical ghost” in the UK). ). To make this substance unpalatable to drink, isopropyl alcohol is spliced with chemicals in the lab to give it a bitter taste.

Methyl alcohol, methanol, and wood alcohol—named because it was once made as a byproduct of the destructive distillation of wood—are all the same type of alcohol. Methyl alcohol is commonly found in paint removers/thinners, carburetor fluids, antifreeze, windshield wiper fluid, octane boosters, photocopiers, canned boat fuel or camp stoves, or—very commonly—converted to formaldehyde. It is colorless, flammable, has a strong odor and can be absorbed through the eyes, skin, lungs and digestive system. Symptoms of ingesting the substance include difficulty breathing, blurred vision or blindness (formaldehyde can damage the optic nerves), low blood pressure, fatigue, and damage to the nervous system, stomach, and intestines.

Ethyl alcohol, commonly known as ethanol, grain alcohol, or potable alcohol, is found in alcoholic beverages. It’s colorless, flammable, and when denatured (think chemicals added to discourage recreational use) can be used as a fuel additive or topical antiseptic. Ethanol is the scientific name for the intoxicant produced when yeast ferments sugar. Although you can drink diluted ethanol, it’s not completely foolproof.

According to the Alcohol Content Database, alcoholic beverages have the following concentration of alcohol:

Beer: 3-10 percent

Wine: 8-14 percent

Fortified wine: 16-22 percent

Liqueurs: 15-25 percent

Schnapps: 40 percent up

In contrast, store-bought rubbing alcohol is 70 percent isopropyl alcohol, or 140 percent when measured in ethanol. It is metabolized differently, causing the body to become overwhelmed with toxins.

How dangerous is it to consume alcohol?

When it comes to drinking rubbing alcohol, the digestive tract suffers the most, even if only a small amount is swallowed. The body converts these extremely high levels of alcohol into acetone. When consumed intoxicated, the substance can lead to organ damage. As it is a central nervous system depressant, side effects may include dizziness, headache, and intoxication. Because it is a gastrointestinal irritant, it can cause nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting of blood. In addition, “Due to its higher molecular weight than ethanol, isopropanol is more intoxicating than ethanol and can produce altered sensorium, hypotension, hypothermia, and even cardiopulmonary collapse. Hypotension is associated with severe overdose and is associated with a mortality rate of nearly 45 percent,” according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).

Symptoms of isopropyl alcohol poisoning include:

slurred speech

Stumble

sedation

Vomit

Diarrhea

dehydration

Low blood pressure

headache

dizziness

Difficulty breathing/swelling of the lungs (due to excess fluid buildup in the lungs leading to inflammation)

Severe abdominal pain

shock and respiratory failure

bleeding in the stomach and intestines

Inner Burn

Pseudo-renal failure/bladder rupture

coma

organ damage

Death

treatment/management

After racing to the hospital, the following tests or procedures may be performed:

blood and urine tests

intubation

chest x-ray

ECG

IV fluids

A tube through the nose into the stomach to pump out the stomach/empty contents

Dialysis for kidney protection

Rubbing Alcohol Overdose: Can You Die From It?

Easy Vodka and Dr Pepper Cocktail Drink Recipe

I’ve wanted to write this post for almost a year… and now it’s here. For my birthday last year I thought I’d order Dr. Pepper with flavors that I can’t get in Germany. Among them are Vanilla Float, Cherry Vanilla and Dark Berry. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to try Cream Soda at the time, but eventually it got here as well, who knows?

As a bit of context here, I’m a Dr. Pepper addict. i love it way too much It’s a nice flavor that somehow tastes different when I taste it. Sometimes it reminds me of spices and other times it tastes kinda like cherries. Sometimes it even tastes like marzipan, which is great. I mean I have no idea what’s in there other than lots of caffeine, sugar and more caffeine, but I still love it!

The flavors I can get here are the standard Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pepper Zero, Dr. Pepper Energy and Dr. Pepper Cherry. I don’t like cherries that much, which is why Dr. Pepper Cherry isn’t my favorite here… and taste wise I don’t really notice a difference between Zero and Standard, except that one is a little less sweet I think… and the energy drink variety is ok, although there are better energy drinks out there… but when it comes to sodas, Dr Pepper is definitely my favorite.

Left to right: The standard Dr Pepper over here, Vanilla Float, Cherry Vanilla, Dark Berry

In addition to the taste, there are many reasons for this. The branding is great and the design of the cans is very nice. On top of that, I get 24 doses of Dr. Pepper for only 7€ if I ever go there again… and overall it’s a taste not everyone likes which makes it kinda special. In Germany, the slogan “It tastes good, but not for everyone” was advertised. Roughly translated, this means “tastes good, but not for everything”, but due to the wordplay there, it can also be interpreted as “not everyone likes it” or “tastes good, but not everyone sees it”. They are aware of the unique taste and benefit from what I like. It’s confident, kind of ironic, a bit quirky, and I guess that’s the average Dr. Pepper fan in a nutshell what works.

Now, as for the sodas here, we usually have 1 oz cans here, but the cans that have arrived actually came in larger cans. After all, everything is bigger in America, I was told. The cans I received are slightly larger and hold 1/2 gallon soda, aka 12 FL OZ.

Anyway, first we have the Vanilla Float flavor! Personally I’ve never heard of it and I’ve never heard of vanilla float, period. The concept of pouring ice cream into a glass and pouring soda over it struck me as so alien and barbaric that I fell in love with it immediately. I would imagine that root beer (something I’ve only recently enjoyed for the first time) would taste incredible with the addition of vanilla ice cream.

In terms of presentation, the tin looks great! The ‘vanilla’ color of the tin goes incredibly well with the dark red of the logo and the small vertical stripes on the tin really make the tin stand out. As far as the soundtrack goes, it sounds like any other can. Whether you kick it, tap it, or throw it, it always sounds, feels, and hurts just like any other can.

The taste is very good. You can easily taste the flavor reminiscent of vanilla ice cream, but it still has that Dr. Pepper aftertaste — and interestingly, it goes really well together. I’m honestly quite intrigued by working with Dr. Pepper making a real Vanilla Float, but maybe I’ll wait until summer when the heat is gonna kill me here in my loft apartment while the sun burns me a crunch through that window right there that you (hopefully?) can’t see , wherever you read this. Well, I love vanilla, but the fact that it actually tastes so strongly of vanilla and the fact that you can still get the Dr. Pepper flavor can taste … is incredible. I would have thought it was either after Dr. Pepper or vanilla flavored, but they did a great job of conveying that sense of unity between the two and I love that.

Next we have Dr Pepper Cherry-Vanilla. I said earlier that Dr. Pepper already kind of tastes like cherry and that I don’t rate the cherry flavored version that highly, but in this case I was quite intrigued as it was Dr. Pepper is flavored with cherry AND vanilla. First of all, the presentation looks fresh and adorable in a way. The tin has a beautiful dark red background with slightly lighter shades of red in the form of vertical stripes, which are then also complemented with thinner light yellow/vanilla colored stripes. The Dr Pepper logo also has a mix of two types of red and a bit of black, and has a vanilla-colored “cherry vanilla” circle and some cherries nearby. The soundtrack on this can also sounds pretty similar if not the same as other cans. The kick, tap, and throw flavor produced the same results: it sounds, feels, and hurts the same, especially when your roommate yells at you for not washing the dishes again and throws it at your head. (I’m just kidding, right?)

But in the end it’s all about the taste and I have to say it tastes like Cherry-Flavored Dr Pepper with a slight hint of vanilla that’s barely noticeable. I would have loved if the vanilla flavor was more present in this one, and probably the icing on the cake was that the cherry flavor overpowered even the DrPepper-ness of the lemonade itself, which in my humble opinion isn’t that good. Unfortunately, this isn’t my favorite, but I would imagine other people who see Dr. Don’t like Pepper that much, but appreciate the taste of cherry-flavored sodas, maybe fancy it.

I finally tried the Limited Edition Dr Pepper Dark Berry too! The tin is very dark blue with white lettering announcing that Spider-Man: Far From Home is out. In addition, the tin reveals this Mysterio guy on the back. I don’t know this guy and had to ask a friend who this guy is. I called him Dark Berry Guy before and he got angry. I don’t do that anymore. As for presentation, I’m a fan of the dark blue, but I absolutely hate Dark Berry Gu-Mysterio. I mean, I don’t know him and can’t tell if I hate him or not… but I don’t like him on the can. It looks kind of washed out and weird and I just don’t think it fits the style and brand that much, although I appreciate Big Ben in the background. Just not my thing I guess. Anyway, the can feels, sounds and hurts just like others, although I didn’t want to kick it as it looks pretty cool. If you want to kick the can, do it alone. Be careful not to hurt anyone. Many Thanks.

The taste itself is… berry good. I’ve waited a whole year to make this joke. But yeah, it’s a great soda with that dark berry juice you might know from flavored energy drinks… It also smells a lot like black berries and blue berries and other berries. Honestly, who knows what’s in it, but it tastes good and I like it a lot. The aftertaste is the best part though as it really does taste like a can of Dr. Pepper tastes. It may be seasoned differently, but the original flavor is still there, making it very nice. This is probably my second favorite flavor so far. I like Vanilla Float a bit more than this one, but this one is definitely better than Cherry Vanilla in my opinion without wanting to downgrade Cherry Vanilla. Cherry Vanilla is still a top notch soda for me!

Anyway, I ended up not being a huge cherry vanilla fan, but the other two flavors were great. I look forward to getting my hands on other flavors at some point! As mentioned earlier, Cherry Vanilla is still a top tier soda simply because it’s still kind of like Dr. Pepper tastes good and also because nothing really compares to Dr. to compare Pepper. In a way, Dr. Pepper transcending the concept of leaderboards and rankings and actually being the god of sodas, period, in my opinion. There is not much to discuss here.

Have you ever tried it and if so, what were your thoughts?

I hope you liked my post. I’ve wanted to write a review on these flavors before, but I don’t really know anything about taste testing so I figured I’d do it the same way I do games… and you can’t go wrong, can you? If you have any feedback and suggestions for the Cream Soda review that will eventually come out, let me know. Take care and stay hydrated!

Cream soda is my favorite flavor so hearing that it’s permeant is the best news I’ve heard so far – Lord Panda (@_Panda_Aleman_) August 10, 2020

Omg I’m so glad it stays!!! The Cream Soda Dr. Pepper is my jam! — Shelbo🐺 (@sfoguth) August 10, 2020

Will there be a diet version of the Dr. Give Pepper/Cream Soda Flavor? As a diabetic, I don’t rule out the whole sugar version, but I certainly couldn’t drink it that often…

This taste is also AWESOME. — Beth Johnson 🔭☄️🌋🏳️‍🌈 (@planetarypan) August 10, 2020

Easy cocktail recipe with vodka and Dr. Pepper

dr Pepper is a popular carbonated soft drink.

It was created by pharmacist Charles Alderton in Waco, Texas in the 1880s and first served in 1885. Early advertisements for the soft drink made medical claims, stating that it “aids digestion and restores vitality, strength, and vitality.”

To test his new drink, Alderton offered it to local shopkeeper Wade Morrison, who appreciated its unique taste. Patrons at Morrison’s Soda Fountain soon learned of Alderton’s new drink and began ordering a “Waco.” Alderton gave Morrison the formula, which Dr. called Pepper.

dr First marketed nationally in the United States in 1904, Pepper is now sold around the world as well. Variants include Diet Dr Pepper and, beginning in the 2000s, a number of additional flavors such as Cherry Vanilla, Cream Soda, Vanilla Float, and Cherry Chocolate.

As with Coca-Cola, the formula for Dr. Pepper is a trade secret, and the recipe is said to be kept in two halves in lockers at two separate banks in Dallas. A rumor that has persisted since the 1930s states that the drink contains prune juice, but Dr. Pepper refutes this.

dr Pepper tastes mostly like cherries with undertones of exotic spices like vanilla and cinnamon. It has a spicy aftertaste.

Want to make a quick drink to take to a potluck, cabin, or camping trip? Grab a few cans or bottles of Dr Pepper and stir the soda with your favorite vodka for a refreshing cocktail.
