Found some details about it.

Electrical system: ignition

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID:

14V567000

Report date:

September 17, 2014

Consequence:

Leaving the ignition between the “START” and “ON” positions can result in loss of certain electrical functions. If the ignition key is accidentally moved to the “OFF” or “ACCESSORY” position, the engine will turn off, overriding various key security systems including but not limited to airbags, power steering and power braking. The loss of functionality of these systems can increase the risk of accidents and/or increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

What you should do:

Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will replace the ignition switch and key fobs at no charge. The recall began August 19, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is P57.

Summary:

Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is calling certain 2008 model year Chrysler 300 vehicles manufactured May 31, 2007 through May 12, 2008 Dodge Magnum vehicles manufactured May 23, 2007 through May 12, 2008 Dodge Charger vehicles, manufactured May 24, 2007, back thru May 12, 2008, Jeep Commander vehicles manufactured April 3, 2007 through May 12, 2008 and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured March 21, 2007 through May 12, 2008 On the affected vehicles, the ignition key (FOBIK) may not return to the “ON” position after being turned to the “START” position, but may be stuck between the two positions. While the vehicle is being driven, the ignition may inadvertently move past the “RUN” position to the “ACCESSORY” or “OFF” ignition position, causing the engine to shut off.

2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee “Damaged Key”

I like the information in this video.

If you were around I have a fancy scan tool that claims to be able to program new keys into the SKIM. To do this, you need to take your vehicle title to a dealer and ask for a PIN for your SKIM that is linked to your VIN. If/when they give you that, the scan tool will use the PIN to reset the SKIM. This is all assuming your SKIM isn’t broken/burned out and your key is the only problem. It worked on my ’09 Chrysler 300, but I haven’t tried it on a Jeep yet.
