Question about setting up extended run gas tank
Hello folks,
Fairly new here but have been lurking for a while. I’ve been looking for information on the subject but haven’t had any luck so thought I’d record a video and ask.
I’ll post the question here as well.
I’m working on modifying my pickup power wash setup. My buddy gave me a 6 gallon marine gas tank and I’m curious to see if I can attach it to my pressure washer’s Honda motor for longer gas supply. I wanted to ask here before I damage my machine. I’m thinking of drilling a hole in my gas cap and inserting a brass hook with a gasket. This would achieve an airtight gas tank with an inlet. I would attach the inlet to the supply line for the marine gas tank that contains a primer bulb. I’ve seen people run these types of gas tanks on Honda generators, but I haven’t seen it on a Honda pressure washer. Can’t imagine there’s a difference. I would assume that if both petrol chambers are airtight then the petrol can be sucked into the engine through the siphon. Thus, the ship’s gas tank would not need to be gravity fed and could be positioned below the pressure washer instead of above it.
Would that work? Worst case I’ll ruin my gas cap and buy another one.
