You may not need a code

Rather than trying to get a code yourself and unlock your phone on your own, it’s a good idea to get the carrier on the line first and ask them to unlock the handset for you or walk you through the process. This is a good method as they can confirm if you are legally eligible for an unlock.

When you factory reset a cell phone, you restore its original configuration. It is strongly recommended that you reset your mobile phone to erase all your personal data (email accounts, messages, photos, contacts, etc.) before returning it to your secretary or telecom services.

Note that your personal information may also be stored in the SIM card memory. You can delete it from the appropriate menu (Contacts, SMS).
