How do you put someone’s face on a shirt?

The traditional way to put a picture on a shirt is to use transfer paper, a printer, and a heat source like an iron. Other methods include using a heat press, screen printing, or applying Cricut-cut vinyl. For a non-DIY option, many online stores accept custom orders and will print a photo onto a shirt at a low cost.

Zuckerberg doesn’t just wear any old plain gray Hanes T-shirt, though. His are specially ordered from Brunello Cucinelli and reportedly cost between $300 and $400. A few years ago, H&M launched a joking ‘Zuckerberg collection’, but it’s no longer on sale.

Klaus Buchroithner, CEO of Vresh Clothing, decided to study Zuckerberg’s shirt closely and make a replica of it, or as “as close as possible to the original” without being exactly the same – similar to how Instagram rolls out new features.

Buchroithner paid attention to the fabric, color and even the length of the t-shirt when making the replica.

The “Zuckerberg Shirt” is now on sale for 40 euros. They’re made in Italy, and all profits go to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a philanthropic venture funded by the Facebook fortune that sometimes invests in startups.

It also turns out that Zuckerberg’s shirts are not just any plain gray t-shirts. You might be surprised to learn that they are custom made and sourced from a well-known Italian designer. Each shirt costs between $300 and $400, and they aren’t available for the public to buy.

Have you ever wondered why Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wears almost all gray t-shirts?

It turns out there are practical reasons for choosing fashion. Zuckerberg said the shirt is his signature daytime uniform because it helps him limit the number of small decisions he has to make in the morning.

It also turns out that Zuckerberg’s shirts aren’t just gray T-shirts. You may be surprised to learn that they are custom made and by a well-known Italian designer. Each shirt costs between $300 and $400 and is not available to the public.

But a 26-year-old Austrian fashion entrepreneur wants to change that. Klaus Buchroithner, who also owns the Vresh clothing company, makes “replicas” of Zuckerberg’s standard gray shirt. His Zuckerberg shirt, which costs 40 euros, will be shipped to residents of the United States and the European Union. According to Buchroithner, all proceeds go to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, an organization founded by Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan to address causes ranging from health to education.

We spoke to Buchroithner via email to find out more about his Zuckerberg shirt. Here’s what he had to say. This interview has been edited slightly for length and clarity.

Fortune: When and Why Did You Start the Zuckerberg Shirt Project?

Klaus Buchroithner: When I read Mark Zuckerberg’s post on Facebook about everyday choices like clothing and his solution to a closet full of gray shirts, I was quite struck by its simplicity. I thought, “Okay, what would I wear if I wore the same shirt every day?”

Since Mark probably gave this a lot of thought, I started researching which shirt Mark chose for himself. This led me to Brunello Cucinelli, a great fashion designer from Italy with a great eye for fabrics. Unfortunately, you cannot buy Mark’s shirts in Brunello’s store. So I decided to design and make a replica as close as possible to the original.

I’ve been producing fashion all my life. I always try to create something unique and special that people love, with great quality, sustainable and fair. So I created a few examples to get a feel for what makes a great replica. I was quite happy with the results, so I wanted to make the shirt available to anyone else interested. With the shirt I also want to draw more attention to the Chan Zuckerberg initiative.

How’s the sale going? Is there a team with you behind this project?

KB: I got orders from all over the world. It is a great honor for me to see that so many people are interested in this project.

The fabric is from Italy and I work with a small factory in northern Portugal. I know the people there and enjoy working with them.

Does this project have anything to do with your other company, Vresh?

KB: No, this is a new project, but I use the same contacts to organize the production. Vresh is a boardsports brand focused on quality clothing made in the EU. The V stands for value and that means that everyone involved should benefit from the brand. We ensure that employees receive fair and sustainable remuneration. Our customers can buy a fairly produced quality product at an affordable price. This is possible because we focus on direct sales and also the ecological benefits of long-lasting quality.

Their website states that 100% of the proceeds from the Zuckerberg shirt will go to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Why?

KB: Your work in research, education and technology is very important and makes a real difference. That’s why I donate all profits from shirt sales to the initiative. HIV, malaria and cancer are terrible diseases that humanity still cannot cope with. Thousands of people around the world starve to death or die from untreated diseases every year. Only with better technologies and education will it be possible to overcome these problems. When people like Zuckerberg start initiatives like this to cure terminal diseases or to revise education, I see no alternative.

Was it particularly important to you that these items are handmade in the EU?

KB: Many big brands produce under bad working conditions in Asia. I don’t want to do business like that. So I decided to only work with companies that treat their employees well and also offer good product quality.

Any thoughts on the state of the EU?

KB: The EU is currently in a critical phase. In my opinion, we can only make a difference together. I’m a bit worried about how the EU will work after Brexit, but the EU is still strong enough to handle all these issues. It would take leaders working together on any challenge like the refugee crisis.

What do you think of gray – and what is your favorite colour?

KB: Honestly, blue is my favorite color, but my favorite color for t-shirts is gray and white. It is very easy to dress up with these colors and combine them with different clothes.

What do you hope the Zuckerberg shirt will do for your customers?

KB: I hope my project will draw more attention to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and their projects on science, education and technology. I also wish that my customers would have to think a little less about what to wear in the morning and think a little more about how they can make the world a better place.

This lady was always known as Bunty, but I found an envelope that had her name written on it as Mrs ‘I’ Thomson (I think it’s either an I or an E, but it’s hard to tell). Thank you everyone for your help Diana.

It’s definitely a nickname for Elizabeth, but I don’t know about Isabelle. lic

This is how 10 successful CEOs dress

Mr. Clothmaker

On any given day, a CEO or executive can find themselves in a groundbreaking meeting or thrown in front of a television camera. What they wear is an extension of their image and can affect how they are remembered. We’ve gone straight to the top for inspiration and looked at 10 of the most successful CEOs and executives across a range of companies and interests to show you how to dress for success.

1. Mr. Richard Branson

Possibly one of Britain’s most successful entrepreneurs, Sir Richard Branson is better known for his laid-back approach to work clothes than his razor-sharp suits. The champion of the open-neck shirt-casual blazer and trousers combo, Virgin’s magnate takes casual business attire to a new level.

“A suit and tie in an office is just another kind of uniform, but in an arena where uniforms no longer serve a useful purpose,” Sir Richard once said in an interview with Entrepreneur. “In the past, they probably showed that the wearer, at the very least, was able to buy and care for a fairly expensive piece of cloth. But now, in an individualized, connected culture, your accomplishments speak for themselves. Suit and tie are an anachronism.

So what Branson is basically saying is that for him the suit and tie is an outdated combination to which we no longer need to be enslaved. Our actions speak for themselves and there should be no mandatory right to such representation. He’s right, of course, but isn’t it down to personal taste and the dress code of your company? What Branson has done is open up the debate about business attire by allowing new options and combinations to be worn with less risk of prejudice or judgement.

So if you’re inspired to try a more relaxed approach to your attire, then slip into Sir Branson’s shoes with an open-cut cotton or linen blend shirt paired with chinos and loafers. Conversely, if you’re in no hurry to ditch your suit and tie, you can always keep this look most days, but give yourself a Branson break every now and then and go casual.

2.Mark Zuckerberg

Next, we couldn’t go on without mentioning Mark Zuckerberg, the founding father of Facebook and boy did he shake things up in our everyday lives. Not particularly experimental in his fashion choices, he definitely excels in embracing the concept of the gray t-shirt as his uniform.

“I really want to live my life so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything other than how best to serve this community,” Zuckerberg said of his minimalist wardrobe choices.

Zuckerberg, who is sometimes accused of a certain pathology in his choice of clothes, is not averse to donning a suit and tie when the occasion calls for it. Like meeting Barack Obama or the President of China or indeed during the $2 billion court case he faced in 2017. Despite his dedication to gray tees and hoodies, Zuckerberg knows when to pull out the big guns in suit matters. We just wish he paid a little more attention to the fit. If you’re looking to get some Silicon Valley style, Mr. Draper has a number of combinations you can try. From shirts and tees to pants and blazers, we can help you choose new and exciting minimalist combinations.

3.David Beckham

There can be no greater style export than David Beckham. From world-class footballer to fashion giant, the Beckham brand is synonymous with impeccable taste and effortless style. Whether it’s a three-piece suit or a tailored tee and slim-fit jeans, Beckham never fails to impress with his wardrobe choices.

Casual wear is something that doesn’t have to be over the top. Beckham looks good because he sticks to classic outfits and always pairs them with the right accessories, allowing him to showcase his own personality. He has been known to style a red plaid shirt over a gray t-shirt for a comfy, casual outfit. Or you often see him in a crisp white tee and slim-fit jeans with box-fresh sneakers.

To trend like Beckham, style a plaid shirt over a gray tee for a comfortable yet masculine outfit. Pair these with dark blue slim fit jeans and brown leather boots and you’ve got what it takes for a winning look.

4.Justin Trudeau

Okay, not strictly a CEO, but Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s immaculately polished style has been one to watch for a while. From a formal point of view, Trudeau’s suits are sleek and modern, setting an unofficial standard that we’d all like to copy. His sharpest looks include a three-piece charcoal suit paired with a crisp white shirt and silver tie. He even manages to carry away happy socks and red ties.

To achieve one of Trudeau’s more casual clean looks, opt for a classic navy blue blazer paired with a light blue open-neck shirt and beige chinos? You can always add a touch of personality with a pair of vibrant socks and a stylish pocket square.

5. Imran Amed

Imran Amed has emerged as one of the fashion industry’s leading writers and commentators. He is the CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Business of Fashion (BoF), which he conceived from his living room. As a fashion journalist and commentator, Amed practices what he preaches. Small in stature, he makes every piece of clothing work for him – from a double-breasted camel jacket paired with a patterned tie and white shirt, to a single button-down blazer with t-shirt accompaniment. All of Amed’s fashion choices are conscious and effective.

Try Amed’s style for yourself with a colorful tie and open-neck shirt. Perfect for warmer climates, this classic combination captures a timeless yet charismatic look.

6. Jay Z

One of the most successful rappers and businessmen of the past 20 years, Jay-Z is a giant in the fashion and music worlds. His clothing company Rocawear represents Sean Carter’s style perfectly with black jeans, graphic tees and varsity jackets. But Jay-Z is no stranger to a suit either. He has the option to go from the traditional tuxedo to an all-black blazer with a V-neck sweater underneath. Anything goes in the world of Jay-Z, but always with style and precision.

You don’t have to dress like a rapper to emulate Jay-Z. But you can definitely have fun mixing elements of street style with more traditional staples. Whatever your budget or where you are, we can offer you a range of styles – from Jay-Z “jacket and t-shirt” to a more hip-hop inspired black t-shirt and black jeans.

7.David Lauren

Youngest son of legendary fashion guru Ralph Lauren, David Lauren is keeping his father’s dynasty well and truly alive. Celebrating 50 years of style and sophistication, the Ralph Lauren brand embodies the preppy American look we’ve all come to know and love. A classic sportswear brand with a strong connection to polo, Ralph Lauren places great emphasis on the detail of materials and textures. The Ralph Lauren polo shirt is an iconic piece that has been copied by many other fashion houses and brands over the years.

To achieve the David-inspired Ralph Lauren look, pair a classic polo shirt with lightweight chinos and a blazer, or experiment with a polo shirt and suit for a more relaxed evening engagement look.

8. Jack Dorsey

Now it’s time for a double dose of fashion dynamism and choices synonymous with the world of the social media CEO. First off, Jack Dorsey, who runs Twitter and Square, is pioneering a different version of the relaxed CEO uniform — one that’s far fancier and far more luxurious. Just as Steve Jobs established turtlenecks, jeans and sneakers, Dorsey has taken it a step further and often shows up at industry events in a leather jacket over a t-shirt paired with jeans and sneakers.

With this choice of clothing, Dorsey suits the new generation of menswear consumers more than a traditional CEO. They also set him apart at industry events. Get his look with a black t-shirt, biker jacket and skinny jeans.

9. Bill Gates

Arguably one of the richest and most philanthropic men alive, Bill Gates is a legendary figure of our time. If budget isn’t an option, then the sky’s the limit. How does Bill Gates portray himself in the clothes he chose?

Successful people often have the confidence to dress simply. For several decades, Gates has set the standard with jeans, ties and suits. But the look he keeps going back to is the modest sweater and button-down shirt. This simple, no-nonsense combination is the signature calling card of one of the most powerful men on earth. It gives it a healthy vibe that people trust.

If Bill can do it, so can you. At Mr. Draper, you can choose what suits you best. We offer a range of outfits including classic button down shirts and sweaters (aka ‘Bill’) that you can mix and match to create a range of fabulous looks to suit any occasion

10.TomFord

What can we say about Tom Ford that hasn’t already been said? With a suit as a uniform, Ford never fails to impress. Tom Ford’s ‘look’ consists largely of a black two button suit with a white shirt underneath, topped off with black leather shoes and his signature ‘swagtastic’ 70’s sunglasses. If you’ve seen it once, you’ve seen it a thousand times. And yet it never, ever loses its charm.

The lesson here is that once you find something that works for you, stick with it. And who better to follow that mantra than the legendary Tom Ford. You can still make an effort and dress up, but without sacrificing your sense of ease. We can help you tap into Ford’s sense of courtesy with smart shirts, pocket squares and plenty of tips from style guru.

One thing hasn’t changed about Mark Zuckerberg since he founded Facebook and became one of the world’s youngest billionaires: the gray t-shirt he wears every day.

The Facebook CEO shared a picture of his wardrobe and the two styles of t-shirts he wears every day this week as he returned to work after his paternity leave.

His boring outfits might seem boring, but Zuckerberg has a legitimate reason for wearing the same shirt every day. He claims dressing the same way allows him to focus his energy on more important decisions at work.

First day back after paternity leave. What should I wear? Posted by Mark Zuckerberg on Monday January 25th, 2016

The 31-year-old explained it during his first public question-and-answer session in 2014, when a viewer asked why his outfits never changed. “I really want to live my life so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything other than how best to serve this community,” Zuckerberg said.

“I’m in this truly fortunate position where I can wake up every day and help minister to more than a billion people. And I feel like if I’m putting some of my energy into things that are silly or frivolous in my life, I’m not doing my job.”

Considering that Zuckerberg is worth an estimated $37.5 billion, having started Facebook from his room at Harvard University when he was a teenager, it might be worth keeping an eye on his fashion stance to keep.

Where does Zuckerberg get his T-shirts?

We know Zuckerberg is not immune to fashion because we know the pigeon gray T-shirts he favors are custom-ordered from Brunello Cucinelli, and we know they go for upwards of $300 a pop.

Face T-Shirts. Face On T-Shirts. Personalised Face T-Shirts.

In the past two days, as Mark Zuckerberg and his haircut testified before a pantomime by a functioning congressional organ, much has been made of the Facebook CEO’s suit. Mainly that he was wearing one. Men’s suits are as exciting as a hangnail in most contexts, but especially in this context. But because Zuckerberg has so tied his personal image to his invariable ensemble of drab gray loungewear, his looks — strained and driving in a navy suit, a J.Crew model on trial for accidentally installing a fascist regime — are considered harrowing .

The details of the Zuckerberg-as-company CEO rig—oversized jacket, sloppy tie, booster seat—are well chosen. sVanessa Friedman of The New York Times, who wrote that “the suit is the costume of the grown-up, while the t-shirt is the costume of the teenager, the off-duty, the rule-breaker,” noted that the choice was confirmed, either with Regret, or at least the idea that repentance is required. (But really, it was Zuckerberg’s hair rather than his suit that did the heavy lifting. Sliced across his sweaty skull, almost like a tonsure, he looked like a Capuchin monk coming out of the monastery to get his lashes.) The Washington Post’s Robin Givhan, less impressed, wrote: “He wore the tie but he clearly didn’t mean to. There was not a trace of pride in his appearance. No personal flair or polish. Everything about his clothes was superficial.”

Zuckerberg is certainly deeply awkward and might deserve to be in jail, but that doesn’t stop him from minding about clothes. His adopted uniform, like that of Steve Jobs before him, has transcended public fascination with cliche; His daily livery of ill-fitting hoodies and jeans has become both the dress code and dominant figure of Silicon Valley. When Zuckerberg dresses, it’s pride.

We know Zuckerberg isn’t immune to fashion because we know the dove gray t-shirts he favors are made to order at Brunello Cucinelli, and we know they go for over $300 a piece. But the most interesting thing about Zuckerberg’s loyalty to Cucinelli, which dates back at least to 2016, isn’t that he’d spend that kind of money on luxury basics — people have been conditioned to believe that boring, expensive clothes are less boring because they is expensive – but Cucinelli’s own corporate ethos. Cucinelli has managed to sell a seemingly unassuming look in earth-toned cashmere (the company had a 2015 market cap of over $1.5 billion) by pairing that cashmere with an expansive worldview, serving the ideas of Plato and Kant of an idealized picks social enterprise Arcadia.

Cucinelli’s business is centralized in Solomeo, a small village in Italy’s Umbria region that he’s quietly developed over the past decade into something of a benevolent city-state. His employees, who were paid above-average wages, fed hearty and subsidized meals, and sanctioned nap times, speak fondly of him. Rebecca Mead noted in a sophisticated profile of Cucinelli for the New Yorker in 2010:

Cucinelli contributed to the restoration of the village’s Church of St. Bartholomew, founded at the end of the 12th century and rebuilt in the 17th century. He repaved streets, restored squares and laid out a forest park. In addition, he built a two hundred and forty seat theatre, built in the architectural language of the 16th century. It has a pseudoclassical portico whose large Latin inscription reads “b. cvcinelli cvravit a domini mmviii”, recalls the facade of the Pantheon in Rome.

Cucinelli’s communal efforts are rooted in his view, set out in his self-published autobiography, of “a humanistic enterprise in the industrial world,” a statement that walks the line between white paper and manifesto. It’s a gestalt approach that Silicon Valley CEOs have watered down and repackaged into snack walls and meditation pods, aiming to minimize their workers’ need for an overall personal life in order to maximize their efficiency, engagement or something.

Zuckerberg and Cucinelli likely didn’t get together over Aperol squirts and discuss building utopias, but Zuckerberg’s loyalty to Cucinelli’s attire is revealing. Zuckerberg founded Facebook in his dorm room as an efficient way to rank college girls based on their looks, according to the origin myth, and has since awkwardly stabbed at a coherent philosophy for the company, using words like “community” and “connection” in studies have proven that the real psychological effects of using Facebook tend to be alienation and depression. In Cucinelli — who has shaped an entire city around his ends by crafting supple, soft-shouldered sports jackets and tastefully crumpled linen trousers — Zuck may have found a potential role model as Facebook increasingly influences our lives, whether we like it or not.

There is no doubt that Cucinelli feels a moral responsibility to the workers who have made him rich. Does Zuckerberg? Right now, back in Menlo Park, Calif., Facebook is expanding its campus into a 59-acre planned community with rumored affordable housing, grocery stores, and “cultural centers,” an unprecedented private incursion into civic life alternatively dubbed “Facebook Town” and “Zuckville”. So the optimist’s answer might be, but so far for Zuckerberg, utopias have proved much more difficult to build than empires.
