There are times when you don’t want to take your car keys with you, e.g. B. running, mountain biking, kayaking or surfing. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to put the keys in a safe place? There is a little known feature on the newer Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, WRX, WRX STI, Impreza and Legacy models that allows you to unlock your vehicle without using the key fob.

You can even use the feature to unlock your car if you lose your keys or if they are locked in the car. If you need to stay light on a hike, you might also want to keep the key locked in the car. You can easily get back in with a custom feature called PIN code access. This feature has been offered on some Subaru models since 2014, so check your owner’s manual to see if it’s available on your Subaru.

How PIN code access works

First you need to disable the keyless entry feature on your Subaru and then program a five digit code using the lock button on your trunk or tailgate. After you’ve locked your Subaru and hit the road (leaving the key fob hidden inside the vehicle), you can return after your adventure and unlock your driver’s door by entering the five-digit code you set on the trunk latch or tailgate lock have button.

And you don’t have to worry about someone finding out the code and driving away in your vehicle. There are over 100,000 possible combinations with a five-digit code.

PIN code access is a cool feature, but on newer Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, WRX, Impreza and Legacy models with Subaru Starlink Safety and Security, you can use your iPhone to unlock your 4WD, and you can remotely start the vehicle, defrost your windows and warm your seats before heading into the weekend.

Activation with a subscription is required to use this feature. It includes a one-year trial subscription to Safety Plus, which enables smartphone connectivity. Consult your Subaru dealer for details.

If you have to leave your car keys behind, newer Subaru Foresters, Outbacks, Crosstreks, WRXs, WRX STIs, Imprezas and Legacys give you keyless time outdoors because Subaru offers that little-known feature called PIN code access. Watch the video below to see how to program your Subaru.

How to play video on car screen from cellphone/USB in few steps

Welcome to the ultimate guide on how to play videos from mobile or USB on your car screen!

If you have a smartphone and a head unit, it’s obvious that you want to see your favorite things on a bigger screen, and I’ll help you with that.

Looks:

In recent years, it has been extremely difficult to watch your favorite movies and videos on your main device. Now it’s brain dead easy to do.

You see, with the latest apps, you don’t need to root your phone (which might void your warranty) or hire a grease monkey to short-circuit a few things.

Whether you want to watch content from iPhone, Android or USB, I have the solution below.

Ok, just show me already!

How to play videos on car screen from cell phone

Since there is a different approach for iPhone and Android, I have described the steps separately.

How to Play Videos on Car Screen from iPhone

This method does not require jailbreak. You won’t lose your warranty either!

Go to CarbridgApp.com

Download the app (usually less than 1 minute)

Connect to your car either via USB or Bluetooth

Enjoy your movies, streaming and music from your iPhone

Please handle it responsibly

How to play videos on Android car screen

For Android, there’s another app you can use, and here’s how to set it up (again, no root required or anything questionable):

Go to this website: https://github.com/shmykelsa/AAAD

Download downloaded Android Auto apps (AAAD)

Give all required permissions

You can use 1 app from AAAD for free. I recommend “Fermata Auto” (there is a small fee if you want to use multiple).

Connect to your car either via USB or Bluetooth

Enjoy!

How to play videos on car screen from USB?

Full disclaimer, do not watch videos while driving, nothing good could come of this.

Before you start watching movies while you’re parked (right? you’re parked), you need to convert the video to a specific format so you can watch it in your car.

This format must be an AVI extension. No problem, just download AVS Video Converter and convert your mp4 or whatever extension to AVI.

Here are the settings that will give you the best results:

After you plug in the USB stick, you may need to press the Media Source button a few times to find the USB stick. Some cars also require your car to be stationary with the handbrake on. While other cars play the movie when the handbrake is released, only the audio plays.

How to stream video from phone to car?

Nowadays people have the whole world on their phones. From messaging and keeping in touch with the people in your life and the world at large, the phone is a repository for multiple videos and multimedia.

It’s only natural to want to stream something from your phone to your car’s screen while you’re out and about. The two main ways to stream video from phone to car are through USB ports and Aux cables.

Car stereos come with USB ports that allow you to connect your phone to the car stereo, giving you a range of things to choose from when streaming.

Here’s how to stream movies and music videos from your phone to your car’s screen:

Efficiently store all the data you want to see on your car screen on a USB port. This is the tool you’ll later use to connect to your car’s stereo to stream. Once your car’s stereo is connected to the USB port, you can stream the content it contains to your car’s screen.

Aux cables are one of the most commonly used tools to stream video, audio and music videos and movies in your car. Anything that’s on the phone can be mirrored to your car’s stereo.

The biggest advantage of using aux cables is that you don’t have to go through the hassle of skimping on the cable. You just need to connect your aux cable to the phone and enjoy seamless streaming on your car screen. It’s simple, effective and very popular. And now you know why!

To watch videos on your car screen: Local TV Guide

If you love to watch and enjoy local TV channels and have something important to watch on the go, there’s good news. There is a way to easily watch videos on car screen.

Installation can be a little tedious, but worth it if you really want to see something. There are a number of requirements that you must meet if you decide to proceed with the setup. This includes an antenna, a tuner and a display.

The antenna can be tricky to find, but it will be worth it!

If you want to broadcast satellite TV in your car, you need to buy a mobile antenna and a paid subscription to the service you want to stream. Although people have it in their homes, it can also be installed in cars. It’s a wireless system which also gives it an advantage over broadcast television.

How to Play Music Videos in Car Stereo?

If you want to play music videos through your car stereo, you can use some other options to do that if the above options don’t appeal to you or for some reason don’t work.

Here are a few options you might consider:

Bluetooth: All smartphones are equipped with Bluetooth, which makes sharing multimedia simpler and easier. Pairing devices with Bluetooth is easy and can be done in a split second. So if you want to stream a movie or music video on your car screen, all you have to do is pair your phone’s Bluetooth with that of the car and stream whatever you want.

SD or memory card: This is one of the oldest ways to stream audio or video on your car screen. But you would have to check if your car radio is equipped with a card reader. If that’s the case, all you have to do is plug your card reader into your car’s stereo and stream whatever you want.

Which car screen can you use to stream videos and multimedia?

Car windows come in countless shapes and sizes. If you are looking for the ultimate streaming experience, you can use your car’s LED screen to stream multimedia.

Here are the components to look out for:

Main Units: These are equipped for watching videos and some even have a touch function which makes switching things easier and simpler and certainly faster. Because of this, it is one of the most important features that people look for when purchasing or upgrading their car stereo.

Detachable LEDs: These can be used in the car stereo for a seamless experience. The fact that they are detachable makes them flexible.

Roof Fittings: Sometimes screens are mounted on the roofs of the car. These are adjustable and you can move them around however you want for a seamless streaming experience.

How to watch movies on car screen?

In most cars, the head unit comes with DVD and CD elements and once you play them, you can watch movies on your car screen. Combination devices are also able to help you watch movies on your car screen.

You need to put the CDs and DVDs in the combo kit and they will stream the video for you, giving you a great experience.

Conclusions on playing video on car screen from mobile devices

It is very convenient to play movies and music videos on your car screen using some of the most commonly available tools such as Aux, Bluetooth and memory cards, among others. There are multiple options available and you can choose as you like.

A word of caution, however, you must obey all laws and take necessary precautions while streaming and driving at the same time. Don’t get too caught up in the video that you’re involved in an accident.

Maybe you can help me a little. Can you please share on social media what you learned from this post? Thanks very much!

Roger and out.

I have a 2018 Crosstrek and am curious about the head unit infotainment system. I was a little disappointed when I started using it, but it’s growing on me. My audio source of choice is a 64GB USB stick with around 39GB of well-organized music.

I can’t figure out how to get it to play the files in track order. The stick is FAT sorted and track numbers are in the tags and file names.

I found that if you open the car door before turning the car off, it doesn’t switch to the radio.

Any links to Gracenote database updates broken? Is there a way to hack or null or crash the grace note database and force it to use tags?

Anyone else have any hacks or tips and tricks they’ve found for the newer units?
