This is a set of (4) “BRAND NEW ” Original BMW BBS RS-740 2 piece Light Alloy wheels. Style 42 BBS RS740 Factory 17×8 et20 2-piece alloys. This is a fully restored set of wheels that is spectacular! These are unique because they are powdercoated with a Prismatic Colors brand BRONZE powder paint making them very special, in addition to being fully polished.
Factory BMW E39 530i MTech wheels. Lug spacing is 5 on 120mm. Center bore = 74.1 mm (For E28, E24, E32, and E30 M3, hubcentric rings are recommended). This included professionally trueing a minor flat spot (minor bend) on one wheel and repairing some curb rash on some portions of the lips. The outer lips were then polished to a mirror finish and the inner barrel was polished using high speed polishers and the correct compounds. The resulting shine is impecable. The center sections were chemically stripped and then lightly media blasted prior to power-coating them with bronze resin, yielding a beautiful matte finish. The critical wheel mounting surface was not coated so the wheels will mount metal to metal as they should.
The lug mounting hole 60 degree seats were reamed out so there is the same type of metal to metal contact. The wheels were then reassembled using the original hardware (Titanium bolts) that was cleaned up, tightening each threaded BBS bolt to 18 ft-lbs. Each bolt was installed using medium strength thread locking compound as an additional measure to insure the bolts to not vibrate loose. What you end up with is a properly restored and assembled set of wheels. I have included at least one photo of each wheel to see the quality of the refinish job.
I have spun each wheel on a balancer and verified that it is 100% trued and straight. Includes a very good used BMW center chips with OEM Roundel emblems applied to them.
THESE WHEELS WILL SET YOUR CAR APART FROM THE REST! These are favorite upgrade wheels older 5-lug BMWs such as E28 and E34 5-series, E24 6 series, and all the M cars (M3, M5, and M6). Because the offset is 20mm, they should fit just about any 5-lug BMW made prior to 2002. For E36 and E46 models, the wheels will “stick out” about 3/4 inch from where the stock E36/46 wheels will sit, creating a possible issue with the tires touching the fenders when you go over bumps. This type of wheel is not uncommon on the 3 series models, but please google this so you understand what you are up against. Please inquire if you have interested (provide city and postal code).
