Up to the Task Achievement – Mad Max
*Warning* While this achievement is technically not missable, there are multiple challenges that are much more difficult and/or time consuming to try to complete after you’ve eliminated all threat from the entire map. Note that completing the story and wasteland missions doesn’t matter at all, so feel free to complete them right away. But I highly recommend reading through this achievement solution before lowering the threat in regions.
Note: An online connection is required for the challenge related to earning scrap from your scrap crew (A Penny Saved/Dividend). No other challenges require an online connection.
There are a total of 144 non-repeating challenges that need to be completed to unlock this achievement. Challenges are viewed from the Legend tab when you pause the game. When viewing challenges, some will have “Completed X Times” written under them. These are repeating challenges and have no bearing on this achievement (nor any other achievements) and can therefore be ignored entirely if you wish. As noted above, while none are missable, there are many that are far easier to obtain during various points of progression, and especially while convoys are still available on the map.
Here are the challenges that should be given high priority:
Trash Is Treasure/Clean Sweep (Earn 500/2000 scrap from cleanup crews) – make sure you complete the Cleanup Crew project in all strongholds right away so you start working on this ASAP.
A Penny Saved/Dividend (Earn 500/2000 scrap from scrap crews) – just like above, complete the Scrap Crew projects immediately. NOTE that this challenge requires an online connection (must be connected when you quit the game and then when you reload it, so it knows how many hours the game was off).

Stick It To Ya (Kill 15 enemies using boarder spikes) – convoys in Gutgash’s territory are the best place to reliably get boarder vehicles to spawn. Equip boarder spikes as soon as they’re available for purchase and immediately grind out this challenge by driving alongside Gutgash convoys. Fast travel away to a stronghold and drive to the convoy again to repeat, ensuring you don’t destroy the lead vehicle.
In Your Dreams (Defeat 3 boarder vehicles with the Thunderpoon) – same as above except use the Thunderpoon
Kill Twitch (Shake 10 boarders off without using a weapon) – same as above, and while doing the above you’ll assuredly will get enemies that actually jump to and land on your vehicle. Swerve around and boost to fling them off
Morrison Effect (Defeat 3 vehicles in a storm) – storms are pretty rare, so when one approaches, make a beeline to the nearest convoy and destroy vehicles with the Thunderpoon while in the storm
Pup Of War/Dog Of War (Destroy 10/50 Scrotus vehicles) – Scrotus vehicles are eliminated from a region when you remove all threat, so make sure you have this done before removing the last of the threat
Scrotus Kebab (Defeat a Scrotus vehicle with the Prickles) – as above, Scrotus vehicles are gone once you remove all threat. Before removing all threat, unlock the Prickles car (Win the Chalkies death race with it) and then head to a convoy with it to destroy a vehicle
Smite The Wicked (Destroy 10 Scrotus vehicles with the Jugger Of Virtue Archangel) – same as above but with the Jugger
Gum Shoe (Defeat a Stank Gum vehicle with the Soul Sweeper Archangel) – the Stank Gum vehicles are only in Deep Friah’s little territory. Make sure you don’t remove all threat there until completing this challenge, as they’re harder to find afterward
Of all the remaining challenges, a majority of them will come with natural completion of the other achievements, and/or are easy enough to plan out and do whenever during your playthrough, and so don’t require any explanation. Roadkill vehicles are all of the ones you’re up against during death races, Buzzard vehicles are the spiky ones that come out at night, and convoys and death races are the best places to grind out challenges related to gas tanks, shooting drivers, pulling off tires, etc. Here are some tips for some that won’t come naturally or aren’t so obvious.
As Vicious As A Bandicoot (Impale 5 enemies with the thunder stick) – fast travel to Pink Eye’s stronghold, then drive east to the Rot N Rusties Vantage Outpost. On the way, vehicles will assuredly chase you. Lead them to the Outpost, hop out, and you’ll find a thunder stick on the right after going up the first set of stairs. Use it to kill the enemies when they hop out of their cars
Rattling Your Dags (Fill the Fury Meter in 10 seconds or less) – you’ll need to fully upgrade Fury with Griffa tokens to stand a chance with this. You obviously can’t get hit during your combo either. The fastest way to increase your Fury meter is to do special finishers, such as shiv finishers. A reliable place to attempt this is the location of the Water project part in Deep Friah’s territory. There are a ton of enemies that respawn when you fast travel away
Unstoppable (Kill 8 enemies in one Fury mode) – same as above. Use finishers with shivs or shotgun shots to finish enemies fast once Fury activates
Tire Popper/Point And Shoot/Rule The Day (shoot two tires, fuel tanks, and tires as Rule Of War, all with the sniper rifle) – these three are easiest done during the death race where you play as Rule Of War. As soon as the race starts, switch to your sniper rifle and fire at the gas tank or tires of the car in front of you. Exit your car to fail and restart the race to try again
Behold, The Flying Fox (Use 30 zip lines) – if you don’t have this by the time you finish everything else, fast travel to an ally camp and you can use the same zip line over and over
What Are The Chances (Collect 3 boxes of scrap from Muthaloot crates) – these crates only appear during storms, and they are gold icons on your minimap. For the challenge, you need to loot three items, not the entirety of three large crates. You’ll notice that when you break open a Muthaloot crate, there are three lootables inside. Loot all three for the challenge. You can try harpooning a crate to drag it out of a storm but I had zero success with that. Instead, find a nearby scavenging location with cover to wait out the storm, then go get any nearby crates.
Suckerpunched (Perform 10 gut shots) – after you buy the skill you may be wondering how to use it. You need to be right next to an enemy and press . This works on every enemy type aside from Top Dogs/bosses.

Found My Rhythm (Perform a combo chain of 20 or more) – since you can’t cancel your attack with countering in this game, this can be tough. You’ll want to always wait a second between attacks to check for an attacking enemy. This may take a bit of practice, but counterintuitively, the more upgraded you are and stronger you are, the easier this is to do
Unbreakable (Defeat 12 enemies in a row without taking damage) – it’s worth noting that this does NOT need to be in a single fight. You could defeat one enemy somewhere, driving somewhere else, defeat one enemy, and so on, as long as you nor your car take damage in between. So feel free to use that method at known easy enemy locations. Another guaranteed way to get this is to mash and simultaneously during a big fight. You won’t build up a combo but it surprisingly works to ensure you attack or counter every time and don’t get hit

Sparks Will Fly (Destroy a Sideblender or Metal Grinder while driving one) – the Reek Hills death race lets you drive as either, and your opponents will be the same. Just destroy an opponent
Bug Eye Crush (Destroy 1 Buzzard vehicle in a Crusher) – first you need to unlock a Crusher by winning the Fuel Veins (Heat Haze) death race with it. Then, either drive it around at night and wait for Buzzards to attack, or drive it to the Buzzard vehicle spawn (see video at the end of this solution)

Let’s Be Overly Specific (Destroy a vehicle in a storm with Aurelian The Ready) – I recommend driving this Archangel while mopping up all the scavenging locations around the map to get this naturally. If you don’t, the Big Nothing outside the bounds of the map counts as a storm. You could travel to a stronghold, drive any other vehicle out to the edge of the map, summon the Magnum Opus and hop in, push the empty vehicle off the map, then go after it and destroy it
Backdraft (Destroy two Fire Raiders with the Sanguine Guardian Archangel) – for whatever reason, the Buzzard vehicle spawn in the video below works for this challenge
Angel Without Wings (Achieve 3 seconds of air with Lord Gravel) – combine this with the ” Maximum Air ” achievement. See its solution

Please Drive Faster (Maintain full cruising speed for 1.9 miles with Righteous Spike Archangel) – the video below shows where best to do this. Obviously wait until you’ve cleared all threat before attempting this. I’ll also note that boost isn’t required. I didn’t use boost a single time and drove on the sand sometimes too, and it unlocked fine for me

Death Runs are races across the Wastelands. At each location have one type of race. You don’t have to win all of them for the Achievements. It’s another story if you’re going for 100% completion. Common for all races is that you will fail immediately if you leave your car.
Barrel Bash: The races have a set route and checkpoints with rows of barrels. You need to destroy at least one barrel for the checkpoint to count – and you must have all checkpoints to finish. Needless to say you want to be in the lead in these as otherwise it’s easily done to pass the checkpoint in the gaps where your opponents blasted through. If you miss a checkpoint you need to go back and bash a barrel before continuing.
Scatter Runs: This is a race where any road is viable, just get to the finish first. There is a default route which has red colored sand in the tracks. This is not always the fastest route so try to find shortcuts if you’re having problem winning.
Time Bomb: Get to the finish as fast as possible anyway you can. Hordes of enemies will attack you along the road and you can’t take much beating before you explode.
Requirement: You need to win every Death Run using the Archangel, which requires you to first unlock all parts for it during story game play. Secondly you should make sure that you kill at least one of your rivals in each race as there’s an achievement for that. Finally you must manage to do it in Legendary times, i.e. the Token time.
Advice: DON’T QUIT! If you don’t win, or meet your goal, it’s better to wait the timer out (Don’t cross the finish line) as that will give you the option to retry and any ammo you used during the race will be restored. Otherwise you will loose that ammo.
Disclaimer: You don’t need to have any of the enemy vehicles in your collection to do the Challenges. You can just as well hi-jack a car of the right model and do it – but then you only get one chance. Adding it to the vehicle collection will grant you an infinite supply of these vehicles.

Skullbutt Challenge: Choosing to drive the Skullbutts makes this a good place to do this Challenge: TWO CAN PLAY THAT GAME Defeat 3 enemy vehicles while driving a Skullbutts 0/3 Make sure you win the race to add the Skullbutt to your collection as that will make this Challenge MUCH easier. Go to Jeet’s Stronghold. Take the Skullbutt for a ride. Just outside of Jeets is a building to the left with a door opening. Back up the rear of the Skullbutt in that opening to make it firm and steady. Get out of the vehicle and call for the Magnum Opus with the Flare Gun. Make sure you have the best Ramming Grill mounted on your car (Radiant Shadow Archangel is a good pick). Ram the Skullbutt to oblivion with Head-to-head ramming. Bring another Skull butt out and repeat, repeat, repeat. CHICKEN SOUP Defeat 5 Rammerhead or Skullbutt vehicles by ramming head to head with the level 5 “Clawjaw Kill Grill” 0/5

Kaboom Bug Challenge: If you don’t already have the Kaboom Bug in your vehicle collection you should go back and do another run with it. This can be tricky. Make sure your Shotgun is full on ammo and then stay off the roads! You’re driving a buggy so driving across the sand won’t penalize you at all. You don’t need the token so just make sure you finish in trophy time to unlock this car. When you’ve finished you should continue driving the Kaboom Bug. The finish is just outside the Hollow Point camp which is convenient as there’s a Scrapulance waiting just inside the gate. Drive in there, park next to the Scrapulance, press and get out of the car, BOOM! If you have the Kaboom Bug in your collection you can do this by driving it from Jeet’s Stronghold instead. BUG KILLER Defeat an enemy, either on foot or in a vehicle, by driving the Kaboom Bug and using its explosion 0/1

Fire Raider Challenge: There are two Challenges involving Fire Raiders. This race is not a good fit for any of them so focus on winning the race to add this vehicle to your collection. Once the race is won: Step out of the car, call for the Magnum Opus with the Flare Gun. Go to the garage and switch to the Sanguine Guardian Archangel. Destroy the Fire Raider car. Go into Pink Eye and get another Fire Raider and drive it out. Step out and repeat to complete this Challenge: BACKDRAFT Defeat 2 Fire Raiders while driving the “Sanguine Guardian” Archangel 0/2 The second Challenge has a minor grind to it. Fast Travel to Deep Friah and take the Fire Raider for a drive. Go to the Scavenger Location [AG 19] – the place with two Buzzard vehicles. Destroy them with the rear flame (press to use). Then go back to the intersection just across the border to Rot ‘n’ Rusties. Turn back and both Buzzard vehicles have respawned. Repeat another time to get: THROW ANOTHER ON THE BARBIE Defeat 5 vehicles using the flame pipe from a Fire Raider, Flamergamer or Charbone 0/5

Choose LORD GRAVEL Again the Challenge can’t be done during the race. There are very high cliffs on the edge to The Big Nothing in the West. There is a good spot at [F 23] in Wailing Wind, which can also net you the Maximum Air achievement. ANGEL WITHOUT WINGS Without using a Wasteland Jump, catch 3 seconds of air time while driving the “Lord Gravel” Archangel, 1 time 0/1 If you’re doing these Death Runs post game you should now have unlocked a couple of achievements. If you didn’t get The Exiled it means you didn’t destroy any vehicles during the Story race – or you’ve forgotten to do so here.

The Exiled Defeat an enemy vehicle with every Archangel 2 guides
Running Wild Complete at least one race at every Death Run Location 1 guide
MORTAL BITE [Q 6] (The Heights)

This race is done in a Story Mission so if you do this post game you should’ve done this one already. Otherwise choose the SPEED DEMON and once you win all the above achievements should’ve popped.
Legendary Times: You need to complete all Archangel races in Legendary time to get the final race achievement. If you did just that it should already have unlocked. Otherwise go back and redo any races you failed to meet the requirement in. You can easily see which Archangel race you need to improve by looking at the Archangels in the Collectibles menu. Anyone without the Griffa Token symbol lit must be raced again. When going for these you should heed the advice that if you know you’re going to fail – let the timer run out instead of crossing the finish line. This way you’ll regain any ammo spent during the race.

Some advice on a few:
CORNER CUT [AP 49] (Colossus) Barrel Bash with KILL BOX
Compared to all the other races you have little to none margin for error here. The Kill Box handles awfully on sand so stay on the road. Using ramps is out of the question as it will undoubtedly spin 180 degrees upon landing. It also have a tendency to juggle a little when driving through the barrels which can make you spin out if you cross them at an angle. So cross the barrels at a straight angle – and don’t use boost through as that can hurt more than you would gain. Otherwise you must boost as much as you dare in the straights. Try to have a full boost meter on the final approach as you can then cut over the sand.
BUCKLE DOWN [Q 35] (Chalkies) Barrel Bash with AURELIAN THE READY
Fair amount of margin on this one. Don’t use boost until you’re crossing the plains at the end, instead focus on staying on the road and drive safely but fast. However tempting those ramps are you should probably just drive around them.
NECK SNAPPIN’ [C 46] (Reek Hills) Scatter Run with CARDINAL GRINDER
There is a major shortcut if you drive straight forward between the cliffs at [M 47]. You will be coming up a hill and see the goal marker just in the canyon you want to drive.
