Everything works a bit differently in Tarkov. The game takes a realistic approach to everything, from gunplay to having fractured bones. Nothing is all that simple. This even applies to body armor. Things aren’t as simple as starting with full health in Call of Duty or drinking a Chug Jug like in Fortnite. Here, armor is a little more measured. Even compared with previous builds of the game, the current Escape from Tarkov armor is a lot more restrictive than you’ll find elsewhere.

Choosing Escape from Tarkov armor isn’t limited to picking the one with the best stats. Each has a different price, materials, durability, and penalties. This makes actually picking one for your loadout a bit difficult, especially for beginners. When choosing armor, you have to balance all of these concerns. This isn’t easy. This guide breaks down these various aspects to find the best pieces of body for use in your loadouts. These are the elements that you can use in loadouts because of their versatility and overall balance.

It’s important to remember that Escape from Tarkov is still very much under construction. Recent updates have nearly completely overhauled the body armor in the game. While this puts it in a more finished state than other aspects, the stats and systems for body armor are subject to change. Any update can change things up, but at the moment these are your best choices.

This is the lowest class of armor that is even available to you. It is cheap to buy, so you don’t really have to worry about losing it. It’s also unlocked pretty early. The PACA soft armour is your best bet for class 2 Armour in Tarkov although in practice should be rarely used as its ability to stop bullets is limited to shotguns and pistol rounds from Scavs. That being said it can provide some limited protection early on, is available from Ragman level 1 and a useful way to increase your trader reputation with him. The armoured rig is somewhat let down by it’s ergonomic penalties and titan material which doesn’t repair fantastically well giving players usually 2 to 3 repairs before being thrown away. A comparable rig that makes another good budget alternative is the Eagle Industries “MMAC” plate carrier (Ranger Green) that has less of an ergo penalty and has better effective durability but is only obtained via barter.

ANA TACTICAL M1 ARMOURED RIG

The M1 armoured rig offers a significant step up over the 6B3TM above with smaller movement penalties and significantly more slots including two 2×2 slots that make it a popular PMC loot run option. The steel material also repairs extremely well ensuring you can use it across multiple raids which given its awkwardly large shape does improve the chances of it returning on insurance.

The cost of the M1 armoured rig also stays reasonable all the time due to a reliable barter with Ragman for Aquamari bottles with the price even approaching that of the 6B3TM above albeit locked behind Ragman level 3. A good alternative to this armour is the similarly M2 armoured rig that has comparable overall statistics (slightly better) and can sometimes be cheaper depending the wipe

The high base durability also gives the armoured rig a strong effective durability that can take a beating in raid along with two 2×2 slots for your juiciest loot.

Another advantage of the TV-110 is the armour coverage is limited to the thorax so you’ll find no wasted durability on stomach shots like the other armoured rigs in class 4.

HIGHCOM TROOPER TFO ARMOUR

For those that prefer armour vs armoured rig in Tarkov your best class 4 armour option is the trooper with its UHMWPE material, high durability and low penalties to movement. Be warned though that you’ll like pay a premium for the trooper armour due to it’s popularity so bargain hunters will want to consider the other class 4 armours first.

The most popular of all tier 5 armours comes from the boss of Interchange, Killa and it’s easy to see why with the combination of UHMWPE material and high durability count giving reliable protection over many raids. Given the armour is only available from a single source though and can often be damaged while killing Killa you’ll have to front a large number of Roubles to obtain it.

Further impacting the cost is that this armour is extremely well known and unlikely to ever come back on insurance if any PMC comes across your body even if the armour is zeroed on durability due to the great repair possibility.

Tarkov Best Class 6 Armour

5.11 HEXGRID PLATE CARRIER

It is hard to go wrong with a tier 6 armour when looking for the best Escape From Tarkov armour with the hexgrid generally being on the cheaper side due to its availability through Ragman trade and its lower durability.

However, it’s worth being aware that due to the UHMWPE material the hexgrid has essentially the same effective durability as the slick plate carrier featured below and accordingly offers the better budget class 6 armour option.

Here’s every item banned from the ‘Escape From Tarkov’ Flea Market in 12.12

Escape From Tarkov has recently been updated with patch 12.12, and has banned a sizeable list of items from being bought or sold on the Flea Market – here’s what they are.

Patch 12.12 has arrived in Escape From Tarkov and introduced heaps of new content and big changes. One of these changes included in patch 12.12 means that certain items can no longer be traded on the Flea Market, which is used for players to buy and sell their in-raid finds.

As clarified in the Escape From Tarkov patch notes provided by developer Battlestate Games, “specific items can no longer be put up and purchased on the Flea Market”. The following items have been hit with these restrictions, meaning players must now find them in-raid or receive them from NPC traders:

Many of these items could be classed as high-end gear in Escape From Tarkov – much of the listed ammo, for example, is the go-to choice for players looking to penetrate tough armour. Speaking of which, much of that armour is now banned from the Flea Market, so in general players will likely take a bit longer to access huge loadouts. The fact that Labs keycards can no longer be bought and sold also means that players will have a much tougher time getting into the map, making the high-loot area even tougher to access.

Combined with changes to inertia and weapon overheating, these restrictions are likely to further dissuade players from Escape From Tarkov‘s last meta, which revolved around people buying expensive sets of armour and fully-automatic weapons then quickly rushing their opponents. It’s fair to assume that now, fans can expect this wipe to revolve around slower-paced combat.
