I am very happy with the playtesting with this notable in particular. I am building an int stacker out of spite because I got stunlocked by someone from twitch chat claiming you couldn’t make a good int stacker for 140ex as I had suggested it as a build to someone who had that budget. They claimed you need X cluster jewel that would blow the budget by itself alone or that you couldn’t make a wand a good int stack wand for that price. To me this is complete foolishness to be narrow minded in path of exile is asking yourself to waste currency following the common path when there exists many solutions that are far cheaper still achieving great results. So I plan to prove that with this character as well as make a detailed guide on how to gear this sort of character for int stacking specifically. That guide will come later as I want to min-max it well to give direction on the best way to do so.
One Downside: I forgot to cover this, the only main downside I noticed to this sort of setup, is occasionally I could spellslinger hydrosphere in front of a boss. generally now that I’ve practiced the build more I don’t do this much as its pretty avoidable, but occassionally if you do that, then no hits will hit the boss.

^This is just the work in progress of my character in the PoB. This is very subject to change as I have a sneaking suspicion that far shot doesn’t play well with vengeant cascade and it leads me to believe I should reconsider how I build this character changing the tree/ascendancy.

How do you double your hits with Vengeant Cascade?

Get exactly ONE pierce on it (say, from a Penetrating Arrow Quiver). Cast your Hydrosphere behind the enemy and fire away. The projectile will go through them (using up its one pierce), hit the Hydrosphere and return to hit them again. Boom!

Is Deadeye good PoE?

Best Deadeye Builds for Sentinel League (PoE 3.18)

The Deadeye is an expert of taking enemies down while wielding bows. If you like the archer archetype, this might be one of the best ascendancy classes for you.

Are spells projectiles Poe?

Projectiles are entities which are produced by a spell or ranged attack which travel independently of their creator until they collide with an enemy or obstacle or reach their travel distance limit of 150 Units. Skills gems that create projectiles usually have the Projectile or Bow gem tag.

* And yes, those returning projectiles can hit targets again.

‘Return’ is a projectile mod that comes after all the other ones – split, pierce, fork and chain. So your projectiles won’t return until they’re done doing all of those, upto however many of them you’ve got. It also has to actually HIT another enemy in order to return – and of course that enemy only gets hit once – so it won’t return after some max distance or hitting a wall. It returns back to the source of the projectile, be that you, a trap, a mine or a totem. So it basically got relegated to just being a rather meh clearspeed tool, and one that was inferior to all the others (as in order to hit the enemies again, they’d have to be in the proper position to get hit by the returning projectile – although it does go through you to hit stuff behind you as well, for what it’s worth). It also doesn’t work for projectiles falling from the sky, like Rain of Arrows and the like.

If you want to know how this affects all the different attack (it doesn’t affect spells) projectile skills, there’s both a nice old Reddit post and another vid by Woolfio both trying it out –

But anyway, what’s new? In a word, Hydrosphere. That little gem of a new skill from last league may just be Vengeant Cascades’ saving grace. So how to double your hits on mobs, including bosses?

Simple. Use a projectile attack skill that can pierce (so not like Spectral Shield Throw), but doesn’t inherently pierce (so not Tornado Shot). Get exactly ONE pierce on it (say, from a Penetrating Arrow Quiver). Cast your Hydrosphere behind the enemy and fire away. The projectile will go through them (using up its one pierce), hit the Hydrosphere and return to hit them again. Boom! Doubled hits.

This ends up looking like a laser when used with skills like Barrage, however the real stars here might be skills that trigger secondary effects on every hit. For example – Kinetic Blast. It’ll create explosions both on passing through the enemy AND on returning to hit them again, further multiplying your damage. It’s kinda like having the old Frost Wall interaction for KB back again.

So basically Vengeant Cascade is finally not just a questionable clearspeed tool – it might actually significantly boost your damage as well now. Arrows can now hit a boss 3 times with chain

And I’d assume returning projectiles aren’t new projectiles, just like you said? Just refreshed on the target hitting count? So that means that if a projectile splits from sniper’s mark, and hits a hydrosphere and a tornado, and both returns, the mob can still only be hit by one of these returning projectiles, and not both?

Thank you so much for the clarification. I misunderstood the mechanic completely.
