14 November 2021 – Circuit Ricardo Tormo – Spain
The 2021 season for the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team, Factory Team dell’Husqvarna Motorcycles, ends with the fifth position of Romano and the twenty-second of Adrian, in the World Championship ranking of the Moto3.
The last race saw Romano cutting the finish line in twelfth position and Adrian in fourteenth. Romano started well from the eighth position, but in race he was not so vivid, therefore he was subjected to many undertakes, unfortunately without managing to come back on the leading group. On the finish line he loses a position, because he passed the limits of the track in the last lap, position that was regained after the penalty of D.Foggia.
After 18 races, 160 are the points gained by our team leader, with 1 Victory, 1 second place, two third places and 3 poles. Thanks to the Poles conquered, Romano obtains the Record of Poles of the Championship. Our pilot brought the Husqvarna on the highest spot of the podium in the race of Silverstone and this victory adds to the one obtain last year on the Misano World Circuit.
For what concerns Adrian, he ends his last race, in his debut year, gaining points for the third time in a row. After Adrian served the double long lap penalty, he did not lose heart and ended the race very close to the long leading group, that preceded him. Six are the times that our rookie ended the race reaching the points and this allowed him to gain 30 points in the Championship. The best result for Adrian is the sixth position, reached on the finish line of the Le Mans Circuit.
The Sterilgarda Max Racing Team, before moving on and focusing on the 2022, would like to thank firstly Romano Fenati, that after two years leaves the Team, after he gifted us with two amazing victories. A thanks goes also to Adrian Fernandez, who leaves us after he debuted this year in the Moto3 World Championship. To both our pilots goes our warmest wish to continue with excellent result in their sportive carriers.

Romano Fenati: “I am happy to end this year and to say that these two years with this team have been amazing. I learnt a lot, probably I learnt more in these two year than in the rest of my carrier. I am happy to move on and to compete in Moto2. I am not happy with the result obtained today, but for me it is fine, because it is not important the position, since now I have to focus on the Moto2. It would have been important to win or to reach the podium for the team. Now we will enjoy a dinner together to celebrate the year and then we will have fun at the gala.”
Adriàn Fernàndez: “Today was a difficult day, since I had to serve a double long lap penalty. The warm up was good and I was confident with myself ,but of course the double penalty did not help. Step by step I managed to gain positions and at the end I finished in fourteenth position. I would like to thank my family, my Team, and all the people that supported me.”
Max Biaggi – Team Owner: “The last race of the year left us with a little bit of frustration, because we had the chance to finish the championship in third position in the championship, considering that we were fourth; but the race of Romano today was not one of his usual races. He finished far from the positions that he was capable to obtain and therefore he lost one more position, finishing in fifth position in the championship. It does not represent the way in which we wanted to finish, but now we have to move on and focus on the 2022. It was an intensive year with Romano, we achieved some good and some bad results. I am happy to see him again in Moto2. Adrian, with a double long lap penalty, finished the race gaining points and this is good. For 2022 I wish him all the best and I hope to see him growing up and performing better.”

‘We can look at a strong 2021’ – Romano Fenati
For the second consecutive season, Romano Fenati will compete in the Moto3 World Championship at the service of the Sterilgarda Max Racing Team, with Husqvarna being the partner.
In 2020, the season wasn’t particularly positive, with a triumph and just three more results in the top ten to finish 14th in the championship. Now, Fenati faces the coming season with expectations that it will be strong, as he said in a statement:
– One year after starting our debut with Husqvarna Motorcycles in Qatar, we are back for the second season and I am very excited to be competing again. Losail is a good circuit for me and I really like the drawing. I am ready to work hard with the team to achieve our goals. We had a good test in Jerez and now we can look at a strong 2021.
Fenati returning to Moto2 in 2022
Romano Fenati, who was suspended in 2018 for grabbing a rival’s brake lever during a Moto2 race, will return to the intermediate class next year.
The 25-year-old Italian will ride for Team SpeedUp in 2022 after three seasons back in Moto3, the last two of which he spent at Max Biaggi-owned Husqvarna squad Max Racing Team.
Fenati was the 2017 Moto3 World Championship runner-up and is currently fourth in the standings, having won at this year’s British Grand Prix and taken four podiums in total in 2021.
However, it was an incident at Misano just over three years ago when he shot to worldwide infamy, grabbing Stefano Manzi’s brake lever as they sped through the kinked section towards Turn 8 and causing his compatriot to nearly crash.

Manzi was given a grid penalty for his earlier act of “irresponsible riding” to which Fenati had been retaliating, while Fenati initially copped a two-race ban.
He was sacked by the Snipers Team anyway, before the FIM withdrew his licence until the end of the year.
Fenati, seemingly unwanted also by the team he was set to switch to in the next off-season, had indicated he would retire but then reappeared with Snipers in Moto3 for the 2019 campaign, which he finished 16th with a win along the way at the Red Bull Ring.
On his new deal, he said, “I’m really very happy to go back to Moto2 class and to do it with SpeedUp and the Boscoscuro bike.
“We will face next season with the aim of growing and improving in order to be competitive right away.
“I thank Luca Boscoscuro and the whole team for their trust and for believing in me. I am sure that together we could achieve excellent results.”
Team manager Luca Boscoscuro added, “We are excited about Romano Fenati’s arrival in SpeedUp because we believe he is a rider with high potential.
“In the next season we will work together to make Romano express all his talent.
“I am sure that many goals can be achieve with commitment and determination and give value to our team.”
Fenati has qualified 11th for this weekend’s Moto3 race at the Circuit of The Americas.
Manzi, meanwhile, has been back in the bad books, suspended from Moto2’s first two practice sessions in Texas due to a breach of testing regulations committed by racing in last weekend’s Supersport World Championship round.
