I found this website listed in a Jaguar TSB. Apparently it’s an official Jaguar site, but they only tease you with useful info. You can see the titles of the info, and links to it, but to actually get the info you have to mail back a registration form and I think you have to be a real garage that works on Jaguars and stuff. Has anyone tried to get access? If I mail back the form with a made-up business name name will they figure me out? Maybe I’m a newly opened garage and I want to work on jags…Here’s the link:By the way, they list several recalls for my MY of XK8 (2003) and one of them is for a transmission recall. It says the transmission is supposed to be replaced. How do I know if that recall has been done?

For a laugh I decided to sbscribe to Jaguartechinfo today to see what info they
held for my car. I sbscribed for one day for just my model and model year (’98
XJR).
My first impressions are mixed. The information available is quite varied. It
looks like it has more information than Alldata although this might just be that
it is easier to find it. Alldata wins on price though.
The access to the info is not very consistent. Some things download fully in PDF
format immediately others are separate chapters of PDF files and the workshop
manual is one huge hyperlink indexed document which unfortunately only appears
to be available as on-line browsable. The manual generally is more detailed
though and has better quality diagrams. It also claims to be the ’98 to 03
manual so covers all versions and years.
There are teething problems though e.g. the ’98 XJ electrical guide is listed as
an XK Y2000 guide. When you open it though it really is the one for the ’98.
This is one of the guides that is in PDF format but stored with files for each
chapter. If you have the time you can obviously down load them all one at a
time.
The technical guide is there but only displays on-line and one page at a time.
One word of warning is that 95% of the TSB’s are not available under my
sbscription as they are in theory for all model years. I assume if you
sbscribe for ‘all model year’ you would get them. This must be a bug or poor
design as the workshop manual is for all years but that is viewable under my
s*bscription.
You can sbscribe now for free and see what documents are available. If you try
and open one it takes you through to the sbscription options.
The T’s and C’s say that the information is only available to purchasers in the
US but then allows UK citizens to sign up as well.
One section that was quite interesting was the hardware purchase details under
the Diagnostics section. It takes you to a web site that has all of the
specialist tools for servicing Jags. The link appears to be

To be honest I have most of the information in one format or another already but
all in all it was well worth $13 dollars to have a wander around. If you sign up
for one day only it might be worth starting in the morning though!

Jaguar has recently completed the roll out of its subscription-based Global Technical Reference (GTR) website, designed to provide dealers, independent motor traders, Jaguar employees and the general public with instant, 24-hour access to detailed vehicle maintenance information.
The network launch has been staggered during the course of 2003, beginning in March with a US-specific technical database available to their Independent Motor Traders (IMTs) and the general public through the Internet. A service tailored to the equivalent users in the UK followed in June. Jaguar employees and European IMTs gained access in September 2003, while the worldwide dealer network could use the GTR site through an extranet connection from December 2003.
The GTR site offers round the clock access to all technical materials, from maintenance check sheets and body repair manuals, to vehicle inspection advice and service bulletins. Previously such information was uploaded onto a CD and sent to users via post.
GTR is a subscription based system, providing information over a sliding cost scale depending on the period of subscription and the range of information selected. All charges made to the public and Independent Motor Traders are aligned with those made to Jaguar’s own Authorised Repairers.
