Instant Chemistry: Dr. Megan Hunt and Peter Dunlop on Body of Proof – TV Goodness

We’ve all heard the rumors (well, I have so I’m making some assumptions). SPOILER ALERT: Dr. Megan Hunt will be getting a love interest later this season. But I think she already has a love interest: Peter Dunlop. I really like them together. I don’t know how long they’ve been partners but he gets her. It’s always Peter who can talk her down off a ledge or get her to do something she should have thought of herself. He’s the one who gets her to open up and act like a normal human being. He’s the one who sees what she’s going through – with her daughter and on the job – and is there for her. I want Megan and Peter to be together. Not yet, but eventually. I found some photos from the show that give us clues and insight into their budding relationship. Keep reading if you’re rooting for them.

Sometimes I’m fascinated by body language experts and what they have to say about couples. So I’m going to deem myself an expert (you don’t have go to school for that do you?) and read into what’s going on here. Peter stands relaxed with his hands in his pockets. That means he’s open. He’s leaning towards Megan and looking more towards her than forward. He’s totally into her. Is she into him? See the photo below.

Whereas above Megan is closed off above – arms close together, tight grip on her purse. In this picture she is open. She stands slightly in front of him but looks back to smile at him. She’s totally into him. He’s a bit closed of here though. Look at those slightly crossed arms. He is smiling so there’s definitely hope for her. He’s not too mad but she’s definitely done something to piss him off. Good luck getting her to apologize.

What do you think? Do you see romance in their future?

TV show description:

Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) was in a class of her own, a brilliant neurosurgeon at the top of her game. Her world was turned upside down after a devastating car accident put an end to her time in the operating room. She eventually reinvented herself as a Philadelphia medical examiner, determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims. She uses her vast medical knowledge and investigative instincts to solve the medical mysteries of the dead and bring those responsible for their deaths to justice. Megan’s instincts are sharp, but she’s developed a reputation for graying the lines of where her job ends and where the police department’s begins.

Unfortunately, she isn’t so good at balancing her professional and personal lives. A bitter divorce ended with Megan’s ex-husband gaining sole custody of their daughter. As an advocate for the dead, Megan is unequaled. As a mother, she has a lot to learn.

Equal parts pathologist and politician, Dr. Kate Murphy (Jeri Ryan) must balance relationships with the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Philadelphia Police Department, and City Hall. It’s no easy task — especially when she has to rein in Megan. Fortunately, Kate and Megan find common ground because they both want to help grieving families get closure and find out what happened to their loved ones.

A former cop, Peter Dunlop (Nicholas Bishop) is the Medicolegal Investigator for the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office. After a gunshot ripped through his shoulder during a convenience store robbery, Peter found himself off the streets and inside a rehab facility. Three months of physical therapy later, he had found his true calling: medicine. He works side-by-side with Megan as they investigate mysterious cases.

Dr. Ethan Gross (Geoffrey Arend) gave up pediatrics for forensic pathology on the day that he saw his first autopsy. He’s now the youngest and most enthusiastic person working in the Medical Examiner’s Office. He tries to model himself after Megan and her medical skills but still has a lot to learn when it comes to easing the pain of victims’ grieving families.

As the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Curtis Brumfield (Windell D. Middlebrooks) is technically Megan’s boss but he quickly realizes that that’s easier said than done. He’s capable and intelligent as a medical examiner. However, when he’s not busy trying to rein in Megan, you can find him in the dirt, studying his true love — insects.

Making sure that Megan doesn’t overstep her bounds is Detective Bud Morris (John Carroll Lynch); a hardheaded, straight-shooting veteran of the Philadelphia Homicide Division. He’s no stranger to death and violent crimes. He fights for justice on Philly streets while fighting to mend the troubled relationship with his wife.

Bud’s new partner is Detective Samantha Baker (Sonja Sohn), a recent transfer from vice. While Bud doesn’t like Megan’s methods, Sam identifies with her take-no-prisoners approach and feels right at home working alongside those in the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Series Finale:

Episode #42 — Daddy Issues

Megan gets the go-ahead for the exhumation of her father’s body. She’s shocked to discover that his coffin is empty. Her mom, Joan, is equally stunned. She feels guilty for standing in her daughter’s way all these years. The records regarding Megan’s dad old medical cases are also missing. Chief Angela Martin gets wind of the formerly covert investigation and asks Tommy to keep her in the loop. Trent Marsh, the slightly-psycho psychotherapist that Megan met in “Eye for an Eye,” approaches her in the street. He offers his assistance. Megan says she’ll deal with her “daddy issues” her way. Megan finds a key hidden in her father’s old lighter. It unlocks a secret area in his old study. One of the missing medical files is hidden there. Megan believes this case is probably what got her dad killed. The file is for a young woman named Lindsay Pratt who was murdered the day before her father died by a serial killer named Earl Brown. Megan and Tommy pay a visit to the guy in prison. He denies killing Lindsay Pratt. Brown is already serving life for killing many others, so he has no reason to lie. Megan and Tommy pay a visit to the retired detective, Glenn Fitz, who investigated the Earl Brown murders. He’s positive the jury got it right when they convicted Brown for Lindsay Pride’s murder. Megan isn’t so sure. She finds a discrepancy with how Lindsay was asphyxiated. Her murder shows signs that she was killed by a police chokehold method. Megan believes Glenn Fitz may have killed the girl. Tommy gets permission from Chief Martin to question the retired cop. Megan bursts into the interrogation room to flat-out accuse Fitz of killing Lindsay Pride as well as her father. Megan fears Fitz is going to get away with murder. Trent Marsh, again, offers to avenge her father’s death his way. Once again, Megan declines. In other news, Kate has Ethan give her the breakdown on a body that was found in the woods. She reconstructs the John Doe’s facial features. Curtis can see how much she digs doing this type of work. She loves it way more than politics. The sketch of her victim’s face looks familiar to Megan. It’s Glenn Fitz’s former partner, Arthur Wilcox. Two gunshots strike Glenn Fitz as he’s stepping out of his car in his home driveway. Now both of the cops who worked the Earl Brown case are dead. Megan rushes to tell Tommy the news, but finds Chief Martin instead. She fills her in on the details of what she learned. Martin agrees to accompany Megan back to the office. She pulls out a gun during the drive. She tells Megan that she’s the one who killed Lindsay Pratt in a jealous rage. Arthur Wilcox helped her cover it up. Martin forced Megan’s dad to write his own suicide note before killing him. He was a loose end. She’s the one who dug him up out of the ground to cover her tracks. Martin also killed Fitz and now she needs to kill Megan. BANG! Chief Angela Martin falls to the ground. She’s been shot dead by Trent Marsh. A stunned Megan tells Tommy that Marsh is the man who saved her life. The cops storm the therapist’s office, but it’s been cleaned out. The only thing left is a copy of a book titled Silent Anguish: Survivors of Suicide. Megan pockets the note inside that simply reads “You’re Welcome.” She heads home to grieve with her mom. Later, Megan shows up at Tommy’s place. She thanks him for everything he did. Megan lets Tommy know that she’s held the past against him for far too long. She doesn’t know why he puts up with her. For Tommy Sullivan, the answer is simple. He knows Megan Hunt is worth it. The two of them share a kiss that’s been a long time in the making.

SUMMARY: This was a prompt by kaitilia777 and I thought I would try my hand at it. Prompt: Megan/Peter; Bud decides to play matchmaker and off handedly mentions to Megan that Peter has a type: smart redheads with great legs. Only problem is…Megan is so bad at interpersonal relationships that she has no clue what to do with this information. Cue Bud and Sam shaking their heads in amazement.

PLEASE BE KIND, THIS IS MY FIRST FIC FOR THIS FANDOM AND WILL BE THE ONLY ONE FOR AWHILE, BUT I COULDN’T RESIST THE PROMPT!

“Megan, instead of sitting around here and waiting for those lab results why don’t you come out and have a drink with us?” Peter asked from the doorway of her office. “What good would having a drink do when there is a body I could be searching for evidence?” Megan said rising from her desk. Peter rolled his eyes. “What are you afraid of? We don’t bite, and you know as well as I do that as soon as those tests come in we will have our killer.” He said walking towards her and crossing his arms. Megan gave him a slightly defeated look. “She won’t be there will she?” Megan asked. Peter refrained an eye roll. “Kate isn’t coming with us, and I still don’t see the problem you have with her sleeping with your ex-husband.” He said. Megan rolled her eyes. “She’s screwing my ex husband and it puts me in an extremely uncomfortable situation, it’s not that I have feelings for the bastard. What little feelings I still had for him vanished when I woke up in a hospital room and he didn’t even bother to come and personally see that the mother of his child was alright.” Megan said and grabbed her dress. “Just let me change out of these awful scrubs and we can go.” She said and Peter smiled and left her office.

“Is she coming?” Bud asked doubtfully. “Believe it or not, she is.” Peter said. Sam looked over to him and smirked. “What?” Peter asked. “I’m a detective; I have a thing for details, and so does Bud. Don’t think for a second we don’t see the way you look at her.” Sam said. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Peter said and before Bud or Sam could reply Dana emerged from her office in a formfitting black spaghetti strap dress that showed off an ample amount of cleavage and hit just above her knees. Bud noticed Peter trying hard not to stare and he smirked at Sam. Sam decided to have a little fun and call the outfit to attention. “Do you always keep dresses like that in your office?” Megan chuckled. “it’s the same dress I was wearing earlier minus the blazer.” She said. “Well, it’s just us four so why don’t we get going?” Bud said and motioned for Dana and Peter to go ahead of him. He pulled Sam back and whispered “I think we should play matchmaker.” Sam smirked at her partner and nodded. They knew just what to do. They had set up other friends before, and they were going to do it again.

A short while later saw the four at a nice bar with a dance floor, Bud and Sam had insisted and Peter could already sense the two were up to something, he just wasn’t sure what. They sat at a table and ordered their drinks. Megan, white wine, Peter and Bud, a beer, and Sam, red wine. Once their drinks had been served and they had all taken a couple of sips Bud rose from the table and held out his hand to Megan. “care to dance Dr. Hunt?” he asked. Megan bit her lip, debating on whether or not to say yes, she asked herself “Why the hell not?” it was a slow song anyways and Bud was becoming a friend. She nodded her head and took the offered hand. Then the two were off to the dance floor, leaving Sam and Peter behind. Sam scooted close to Peter. “You know, Megan might not be as obvious as you are but it’s clear she cares for you.” Sam said. Peter shook his head. “I’m her friend, if that’s what you would call us.” Peter said and Sam shook her head and rolled her eyes. “She talks about her private life with you, she lets you in further than she does anyone else, and besides that, when she’s elbow deep in intestines or cutting open a body and you come up close to her to see what she’s doing, she almost always drops something, and I’m pretty sure that it’s not always the paresthesia that causes it. It’s you.” Sam said and took another drink of her wine and the two watches as Bud danced with Megan.

“You’re not a bad dancer Dr. Hunt” Bud said jokingly and Megan laughed. She looked glanced over at their table to see a young blonde waitress smile flirtatiously at Peter and ask if he wanted another drink. Megan tensed slightly and Bud noticed, but decided to play it off. Bud chuckled and shook his head. Megan looked up at him just as Bud muttered “not his type.” “What?” Megan asked confused. “The waitress is wasting her time. She’s not Peter’s type.” Bud explained and then decided to add “he has a thing for smart redheads with great legs.” Megan looked at Bud shocked. She had no idea what to do with information like that. Sure she knew she was smart, and a redhead, and she had always though she had nice legs….but Bud couldn’t possibly mean what he said.

“Why don’t you and I go out on that dance floor so you can cut-in?” Sam offered and Peter, upon seeing the troubled look on Megan’s face, decided to take her up on that offer. The two strolled over to the dance floor and Sam said “Now, Megan I can’t let you have all the fun, I’m cutting in. Dance with Peter.” She gently pulled them apart and Megan laughed as the two started doing some ridiculous dance moves to the new, faster song. Peter reached out his hand and Megan became nervous. “Why don’t we just sit?” Megan said and led the way back to the table. Doing what she knew how to do best, be in charge. When they reached the table Megan took a drink of her wine and Peter sat next to her. “You alright?” he asked Megan rolled her eyes. “Why do you always ask me that? What are you, my knight in shining armor? Well I’m here to tell you right now, I’m not Cinderella; I don’t need to be rescued every time I appear a little stressed. I want those damn test results to hurry up and come back in so we can lock Ed Decker up for life for what he did to that poor child.” Megan said. Peter shook his head and was about to reply as Megan’s phone beeped. The results were in.

They arrived back at the lab for Megan to confirm the results. As soon as she did Bud and Sam were off, but before they left they turned and looked at the two, tension was written in their bodies and they both shook their heads. At this rate the two would never admit their feelings.

For once, Megan decided that her empty apartment didn’t feel so intimidating as she made the rare decision to call it a night and head home. She walked into her office to retrieve her blazer and was surprised to hear the door open and close behind her, but she knew who it was. Everyone else had gone. “I don’t know why you blew up on me back at the bar. I saw the look on your face when you were dancing with Bud and I wanted to make sure you were alright, usually you tell me what’s wrong.” Peter said as he stepped closer to her. When he put his hand on her shoulder Megan dropped the file she was holding. “Damn paresthesia” she mumbled and rubbed her hands momentarily. Peter looked down at her hands and for the first time, he noticed for the first time that Sam was right. She was barely rubbing her hands and she stopped after a few seconds, she was using paresthesia as an excuse. Peter stepped closer to her causing her to back into her desk. Suddenly, Peter had an idea as to where that look on her face came from tonight. “You seem mad at me, are you mad because you saw that waitress hit on me?” Peter asked. Megan scoffed. “Don’t give yourself so much credit.” Megan said standing taller and folding her arms in front of her. “Well, then what was it? Was it something Bud said?” Peter asked. Megan’s mask of indifference faltered for a moment and Peter saw it. “What did he say to upset you Megan?” Peter said gently. “Nothing” she remarked sharply and moved out of the way and started marching out of her office.

Peter grabbed her hand to stop her. Megan turned and looked him in the eye. “Let me go.” She said and Peter shook his head. “I want to know what Bud said.” Megan jerked her hand away and got in his face. “I’ll tell you exactly what he told me, because it was a stupid thing to say, and it obviously wasn’t true. When that waitress started hitting on you Bud chuckled and said she wasn’t your type. Confused I asked what, his reply ‘Peter has a thing for smart redheads with great legs.’” Megan backed away from Peter. “That’s what’s bothering me, because frankly I don’t know what to do with that kind of information, I know I’m two out of three of those things and it scares me. It scares me because I’m always the one in control, and I’m always the one with the answers, but not this time. This literally has me stumped and it’s not a patient I can examine to find out what’s wrong and fix it.” Megan said and Peter stood shocked. “Bud said that?” he asked and Megan nodded her head. Megan might not have known what to do about the situation, but Peter sure as hell did. He grabbed her and pulled her forward, fusing their mouths together. Megan’s mind raced, her first instinct being to pull away, however the first time Peter’s tongue tapped her lower lip her brain short circuited and she opened her mouth to let him in. Twining her tongue with his and fighting to take control of the kiss.

Peter lifted her and sat her on the edge of her desk and stepped between her legs, pushing her dress up so she could wrap her legs around his waist. When the finally parted for air they were both panting and their pupils were dilated. “First, you are all three of those things, and I didn’t even know I had a type until I met you. In the short few months we’ve worked together I’ve come to realize I need you, I need your snarky remarks and your take charge attitude, you might come off as a bitch to other people but I can see underneath, I can see the mother who yearns for a closer relationship with her child, and I see the beautiful yet lonely woman I want to make happy. Todd was an idiot for divorcing you.” Peter said and Megan pulled him to her for another kiss. She gently chewed his bottom lip with her teeth and let him memorize the inside of her mouth with his tongue. Peter moved the straps of her dress down and moved his mouth down her neck and over her cleavage. Megan sighed in pleasure. It felt wonderful to be touch, and to let someone else take charge. Then Megan remembered where they were. “Peter, I think we should continue this at my apartment.” Megan said and Peter looked into her eyes. “Too fancy for the desk are we?” he asked. Megan rolled her eyes. “This is an open office and I’m sure the custodians will be here soon to do their nightly cleaning, that and the fact that I’m sure whoever watches the security cameras has already gotten an eyeful…” Megan trailed off and Peter lifted her off of the desk. “We’ll take my car.” Megan said.

Body of Proof Fic; “Perfect to Me”, Megan/Kate, Part1/?

mood: cheerful cheerful

Title: Perfect To Me

Fandom: just Body of Proof

Pairing: Kate/Megan of course 🙂

Disclaimer: I do not own these characters in anyway, ABC does i think

Rating: PG-13 for right now, maybe M later on

Summary: Megan Hunt keeps denying her true feelings for one Kate Murphy, but must accept them once she discovers how much pain Kate is in after a very disturbing case, and must help her through her troubles so Kate can find herself again.

Authors Notes: The title is from Pink’s song, which I love… Um ‘pretty pretty please…’ bear with the story bc its my first one from a very long writing hiatus, and my first for BoP

The small lake of blood that threatened to soak through the wooden floor of the apartment, easily gave away the immediate cause of death. The only problem was there was no open wound, no scratches or marks of any kind actually. Dr. Megan Hunt stared at the girl’s prone body; looking deeply at the adorable clothes, smooth young face, and the mouth held open in what could only be thought as a scream. Megan just could not understand why there was so much blood surrounding the young woman, if she seemed unharmed? To all cops and Peter Dunlop the cause of death looked to be extremely strange. “Was she literally scared to death?” Peter speculated, while studying a few strands of white hair on the girl’s head that clashed wildly with their initial determination of her age being 10 years old.

“ No signs of forced entry, and no signs of any other family members.” Detective Bud Morris called out from the hallway. Detective Samantha Baker added from beside Peter “Forensics says there is a small smudged blood trail leading to the girl that was quickly washed. So maybe the guy dragged her in here?” “No there is no blood coming up on the body at all besides for the pool beside her. All I know so far is that this girl has no obvious cause of death, is swimming in someone else’s pool of blood, and that the autopsy will be done in two hours.” Megan declared as she began to walk off the scene and to her car.

Dr. Kate Murphy, Chief Medical Examiner, walked purposefully into Megan’s autopsy room. “What have you found so far?” “I’ll let you know in my report in another hour.” Megan replied while still conducting her autopsy and ignoring Kate’s presence. “Dr. Hunt, when the daughter of the junior deputy chief of police, is found dead, you give me what you have as soon as possible, are we clear?” “Yes…Chief…we found trace elements of semen on the pockets of her jeans as though the guy wiped his hands on her, but no sign of semen on her body.” “So he jacked off to her while killing her or after she was dead?” Kate exclaimed and turned pale, this case was getting more and more painful for her to hear. “Exactly, but the interesting thing is that we found some trace samples of Bartonella rochalimae in her system and in her sweat.” Megan answered with a smirk, looking to Kate all the while like a child who wants to be rewarded for getting the right answer.

Kate sighed and stared at Megan with her arms crossed, “And that tells us…” Kate left the sentence of with a question and slight glare sent Megan’s way. “It tells us a possible cause of death, as Bartonella rochalimae can cause endocarditis and heart disease even for a young person like Stacey. The strange thing is that the disease usually is transmitted from rats.” Megan stated. “And what does this discovery tell us about the mysterious and unclaimed pool of blood found?” Kate asked with her eyes now trained on Stacey’s cute neon green sneakers, her thoughts really miles away from the current conversation. Megan answered that she had a tox analysis going on Stacey and the blood sample and that the results should give them some answers. Megan trailed off when she noticed Kate wasn’t really listening and was staring off at Stacey and seemingly though her. Megan clinically observed the obvious signs of stress, like tight shoulders, tiredness, shaking hands… She filed this information away for later and stepped closer to Kate.

Kate felt a hand on her shoulder and swiftly turned to face Megan, “I’ll, I’ll, expect the report in my office in 42 minutes.” Kate said shakily before shaking her head and fleeing the room for her safe and quiet office. Megan stared after the younger women, and unconsciously let her eyes wander over the retreating figure. Once she realized what she was doing, Megan told herself to stop with the foolishness and focus. She filed her latest inappropriate behavior for later as well, as she turned to face the body, sighed, and continued her examination.

After handing in the report to an even more tired looking Kate, Megan left the office with a weird feeling in her chest. The feeling was familiar to Megan after all the months at her new job, and was even identifiable; affection and attraction. Megan continually denied these feelings but they kept on returning. Tonight after seeing Kate look so down and weary, and still absolutely beautiful in a tight pantsuit that highlight her lean yet curvy physique, Megan once again felt the unmistakable urge to turn around and either hug of kiss Kate. She wasn’t sure yet which she wanted to do. Driving in her car she slammed her head on the steering wheel as she ordered her thoughts. “…First she’s your boss, second she’s like 15 years younger than you, then she is a she, and most of all she shows no signs of anything remotely close to what I feel…” Megan murmured to herself over and over as she tried in vain to suppress her feelings.

The next few weeks were not any better for Kate or Megan as they both found out that not only was the murderer a kidnapper, and a child abuser, but it was also the girl’s father. The junior deputy chief was discovered because the mysterious amount of blood was placed at the scene by the man, disguised as human blood, when in actuality it was from the family dog. The dog had caught the bacteria from rats living in their home, and had over the years passed the bacteria to the girl. Stacey’s father though apparently took antibiotics for the bacteria; therefore indicating that he knew the girl was sick and would not help her. The sickness resulted in a few strands of white hair on the girl’s head, and when they found the dead dog, in the dog’s white patches of fur. Detectives Morris and Baker realized that the father killed the little girl because she looked ‘too much’ like his dead wife, and he couldn’t stand seeing her everyday in his daughter.

Kate grew more pale and weary as the case dragged on and the night the father was taken into custody she spent the night crying in her office. Megan had noticed Kate’s deteriorating condition, and her feelings of care and affection had grown over the duration of the case. On the same night, Megan saw Kate enter her office at 8, and at midnight was still not out. Megan herself, finished working at 2 am wrapping up the reports, and gave herself an excuse for checking on Kate in order to drop off the report.

Body of Proof (TV Series 2011–2013)

3 /10

Warning: Spoilers

The reason certain shows make it and others don’t, when they basically have the same general setting (hospital shows like Gray’s & ER, or coroner shows like Bones & the ’70s Quincy, M.E.) is because of the *main* characters, not so much each week’s patient or each week’s story line, except as it moves the relationships between the primary parties.

Will Bones & Booth from the series “Bones”, ever get together? Will Angela & Hodgins find their way back to each other (which took several seasons to find out!)? It’s a “hook” that keeps you coming back for more. And that’s what this show is sorely lacking.

Here, the writers introduce us to Megan Hunt, neurosurgeon turned coroner, due to a condition that causes her hands to go numb at inopportune times, so she can no longer work on live patients. Being a neurosurgeon, she obviously has to have a healthy ego, and we learn that she’s also a workaholic who has a reputation for not being very nice. Having put her work ahead of her family, Megan is divorced and her daughter Lacey lives with her father, who won custody by convincing the court that Megan was an unfit parent due to her consistent absence from their daughter’s life.

So after that introduction, we’re meant to wonder how Megan will be able to rebuild her broken relationship with her estranged daughter. We hope to see a poignant story unfold about a mother earning her daughter’s trust and love again.

****SPOILER ALERT****

In episode 2 (Letting Go) Megan’s daughter, Lacey, angrily ran off, telling her mother she was “trying too hard”. It broke Megan’s heart and she’s left at the end of the episode crying in her car. We don’t see or hear about Lacey in episode 3 (Helping Hand) and in episode 4 (Talking Heads) Lacey has chosen to do a video essay about her mother’s job for a class and asks to spend the day with her at her work. What? When did she stop hating her mother?

Yet for all the begging and pleading to spend more time with her daughter that the audience is subjected to, and the father doesn’t allow, Megan is suddenly reluctant to have her daughter with her for the day and starts off objecting! Suddenly she doesn’t want her daughter to get to know her better?

But of course she relents and by the end, “what Lacey learns in the process profoundly changes her view of her mother.” Well isn’t that nice and wrapped up? Except it’s apparently not. By episode 7 (All in the Family), when Megan’s ex-husband asks her to fill in for him and pick Lacey up at a friend’s house the next day, Megan has to call Lacey to make sure she’s really all right with that. Why? Well, as Megan explains, “the last time I saw you, you said I was trying too hard.” Uhm, no she didn’t. That happened the time *before* last.

Megan Hunt is extremely driven with a reputation as a “ball buster”. Her colleagues are afraid of her wrath and she storms around talking to people like dirt. So, will she ever be able to lose her anger and start to build relationships with her co-workers? YES! In three episodes she went from a woman who was a hard*** to a woman who sews torn jacket sleeves. Awwww, how sweet — and completely unrealistic of a turnaround.

According to the back story, she’s been working with these people for 4 years in the coroner’s office, but they write their interactions as if they only started working together a few weeks ago. Now in episode 3 she suddenly cares about their lives? Why? What was the catalyst? There wasn’t one. At least not one the writers bothered to take any time to *build*. No, all it took was her boss, Kate Murphy (played by Jeri Ryan) telling her she might try showing an interest in her colleagues. She’s never said that to her before in the past 4 years? And that simple request was enough to make her Mrs. Nice Gal?

This show is trying too hard to mimic “Bones”, while not-so-successfully pretending not to. And just so we “get it”, in episode 7 (All in the Family) the writers have Megan’s ex show up at her office because he needs a Forensic Anthropologist, which Megan must, of course, remind him that she isn’t. That would, strangely (because this is supposedly the coroner’s office, not The Jeffersonian), be her boss. Or should I say her boss’s boss. Except for the fact that Megan’s always giving orders to her boss and reporting to her boss’s boss as if she were her boss.

This show is so sloppy they should put it on a bun, call it Joe, and serve it with a tall glass of milk.
