Business English conversation | Sales meeting

This is a video of a business English conversation. It’s a sales meeting between 2 native English speakers, Mr Lewis who is British and Mrs Jones, who is American.
The meeting is in New York. Mr Lewis has a business proposal for Venus Systems.
This exercise is good practice for esl students wanting to learn and improve their English speaking skills. The video will also be useful to English teachers wanting to show their students reallife business situations in English.
At the end of the meeting, I explain some important English vocabulary.

Video Transcript:
My name is Christine Hadt. I’m a Sales Coordinator here and I started in July of 2010. I was in purchasing for about two years and then decided that I would like to explore a little bit more about the company and decided to apply for the Sales Coordinator role. And when I was in purchasing you know you kind of just focus on raw material purchasing, packaging and stuff like that and I wanted to learn a lot more about the company and be a little bit more challenged. So I felt like as a Sales Coordinator you’re involved with production and quality and sales and everyone within the company. You get to learn a lot more about what all three of our branches do.
My job is very unique, where in this role I’m involved with everybody. I get involved with quality, I get involved with the sales team, I get involved with production, I get involved with the customer account managers and all of our customers which is really nice and it starts from the sales person giving me a task within Salesforce and just here’s our new opportunity we explore that. I meet with quality to go through the technical specs, the SDS sheets and everything like that. Make sure it’s safe for our people. And then I’ll meet with production to see what kind of throughput that we can get so we can analyze it a little bit further to see if it’s something that we want to price out to our customers and then I’ll provide that to our sales person representative and they’ll send that out.
Once it becomes an opportunity, they’ll come back to me and then the sales person will introduce me to that customer and that’s when we start the relationship with that customer just to get them through with the processing profile, get them through their first actual production, and then I pass them on to a customer account manager and I’ll work with them and kind of go through everything so that they understand everything about that customer and that account. So typically when we get a new project we’ll go through the processing profile. And if it’s something that is running in Hammond or locally I like to actually go out to the floor and make sure everything’s running appropriately. And I’ll go out there and doublecheck the order. I’ll talk to the guys out there. I’ll look at the labels. I’ll actually go upstairs and watch them throw all of the raw materials through the screens to make sure that it’s not blinding and we have the appropriate freeflowing screens on there most of the time. And then just watch the packaging. Make sure the appropriate weight’s coming out.
We also have the small pack lines. The horizontal and the vertical, so that’s really fun. My favorite system is the cartoner. I know that’s silly but it’s just this really awesome system that does everything for you and the guys are just throwing a pouch and into the buckets and the buckets go through and it glues a carton and then the carton goes into a case. And I just think it’s so much fun and it’s so unique and you get to see the whole thing from a product just being in bags to being blended and then all the way into like your little Betty Crocker box of brownies that you get to make at home. And when you go to the grocery store and see it on the shelf you’re like, “I do that! We do that!” So I think that’s pretty neat.
