The Shawshank Redemption (1994) Cast I Then \u0026 Now 2019
The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American drama film written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the 1982 Stephen King novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. It tells the story of banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murder of his wife and her lover, despite his claims of innocence. Over the following two decades, he befriends a fellow prisoner, contraband smuggler Ellis \”Red\” Redding (Morgan Freeman), and becomes instrumental in a money laundering operation led by the prison warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton). William Sadler, Clancy Brown, Gil Bellows, and James Whitmore appear in supporting roles.

Findley State Park | Visiting the Shawshank Prison in Mansfield, OH
When we saw our friends had recently visited the Ohio State Reformatory where The Shawshank Redemption was filmed, we added the stop to our USA road trip itinerary. We headed to Findley State Park, where we had full hookups and were only a 40 minute drive to Mansfield.
The Shawshank Redemption is Charlie’s favorite movie, so he completely geeked out over seeing all of the filming locations and movie memorabilia. Turns out, the Mansfield prison is also known for its ghost activity and being one of the most haunted places in Ohio. Brittany was far more interested in this aspect of visiting the prison and hearing the stories of ghosts that have been seen and heard throughout the prison. Its appeared on many ghost hunting shows and you can do your own ghost hunts there.
