Introduction
Calibre ebook management is one of the easiest digital library software or an ebook library manager designed by Kovid Goyal on 31 October 2006, soon after the release of the SONY PRS500, the first eink based reader to be sold commercially in the US.
History
Calibre started as libprs500, a converter to convert the most popular ebook formats to LRF, (one of the file formats LRF files usually contain Sony \”BroadBand eBook\” information and that includes texts, images, etc.) Calibre was named libprs500 and produce the first generation of books in the LRF format. libprs500 was renamed to Calibre in mid2008 with a graphical interface. It is used in over 100 countries and has been translated into many languages by volunteers.

Calibre eBook Manager can view, convert, and catalog ebooks in most of the major ebook formats and it can also talk to many ebook reader devices. It can go out to the Internet and fetch metadata for your books. It can download newspapers and convert them into ebooks for convenient reading. It is crossplatform, running on Linux, Windows, and macOS.
