If you have fresh liquid organic milk at home, it is best you make your own homemade heavy cream for your baking recipes or cooking.

Heavy cream substitute: Some substitutes for heavy cream that you can use to serve as replacement or alternatives include: light cream, double cream, half and half, or yogurt. It all depends on what recipe you want to use the heavy cream for. If it is for cooking or for desserts such as puddings or custards, yogurt can be a replacement for heavy cream. But if you want to turn heavy cream io whipped cream for cakes and ice creams, then you can use light cream, double cream, or half and half as heavy cream alternatives.

How to make heavy cream:
To make heavy cream at home, you need organic fresh milk as your only ingredient. You could use cow milk, buffalo milk, goat milk, or any milk you want.

Procedure on how to make heavy cream from milk
pour your fresh milk into a pot and place on the heat
allow it to start boiling and start stirring the milk as it boils on flame
do not move away because milk can boil over and pour on the floor; also do not cover the pot while boiling your milk.
the process of boiling helps to release the fats and cream from the milk; making the fats lighter and therefore moves to the top during boiling. Also, boiling gets rid of microorganisms in the milk.
after for 15 minutes, turn off the heat and allow it to cool for some minutes before taking it into the fridge or freezer for 2 to 4 hours for faster cooling.
after 4 hours, you will see a thick creamy layer formed on the milk, this is your homemade heavy cream or whipping cream.
use a spoon and scoop the whipping cream (heavy cream) into a storage container.
you can blend using a blender on low speed for 1 minute to have a smooth heavy cream with the same consistency and taste as the popular heavy cream brands you usually buy from Walmart.
the remaining milk after scooping the cream from the milk is what is known as skimmed milk.

It can last for months in the freezer or 3 months in the fridge. When not properly stored, the cream can turn sour and you end up with sour cream instead of heavy cream.
You can use it right away to make whipped cream, butter, or buttermilk. When mix or pulsed using a hand mixer, your heavy cream turns to butter and buttermilk.

Heavy cream nutrition
The nutrition of heavy whipping cream is basically fat and high calories.
There are about 400 calories and 43 grams of fat in 119 grams of heavy cream. It also contains 3 grams of carbs and protein each. Others include vitamins A, D, E, and calcium.

Heavy Cream Calories: For every 119 grams of heavy whipping cream or (one and a half cup of heavy cream) there are 400 calories, with 43 grams of fat and 3 grams of carbs.

Heavy cream vs whipping cream:
Heavy cream and whipping cream refers to the same type of cream. Whipping cream is simply a cream made from milk irrespective of the fat content. Heavy cream is a type of whipping cream, the same way as light cream or half and half are also types of whipping cream. When you use whipping cream, you are not specifying the type of cream. Therefore heavy cream is whipping cream with higher fat content in it.

A lactosefree substitute for heavy cream is yogurt because the lactose bacteria have acted on the lactose in the milk and therefore, the end product, yogurt has less or no lactose.

Can you freeze heavy cream? Yes, heavy cream can be frozen and used later even up to 2 months in a freezer.

for making heavy cream coffee instead of milk, you add heavy cream in coffee to have a creamy coffee
you can use heavy cream for making pasta, pancakes, and many dinner recipes
for ice cream
to make scrambled eggs or potato soup
for frosting on cakes such as buttercream frosting
you can make mashed potatoes with heavy cream
it can be converted to buttermilk, sour cream, or butter

  2. Am I the only one who finds a recipe for cake and then finds out they they don't have butter or whipping cream so they try to make butter with milk and then discover they don't have milk
