If you're like me, you like to experiment with your hair. I have dyed my hair black, red, blonde and everything in-between more times than I can count and have suffered the consequences.
Split ends? Hair that's impossible to detangle? Yes, yes, and yes.
Many of the products I found that claimed to repair extreme hair damage contained a lot of chemicals and were way out of my budget.
After doing a bit of research online, I learned that many people were using argan and coconut oils as a natural, cheap solution.
A little history: For centuries, men and women have used essential oils to nourish and repair their hair. And many experts agree, natural is the best way to go.
Here are some essential oils that experts recommend for dry hair:
Almond oil soothes and moisturizes the scalp
Cedarwood oil stimulates the scalp and promotes hair growth
Chamomile oil adds shine and softness to hair, and soothes the scalp
Clary sage oil promotes hair growth and stimulates the scalp
Coconut oilsoftens hair and increases shine
Geranium oil strengthens hair
Jojoba oil moisturizes the hair, adds nutrients, and stimulates the scalp
Lavender oil deep conditions the hair, keeps it shiny, and helps control dandruff
Moroccan argan oil moisturizes, nourishes, and provides antioxidants to hair
Rosemary oil stimulates the roots, improves hair growth, and increases circulation in the scalp
Sandalwood oil helps with dry ends, and adds fragrance to the hair
Tea tree oil helps unclog hair follicles and nourishes your roots without over-dryingI experimented with different amounts of various oils and found the perfect mix of jojoba oil, almond oil, argan oil, lavender oil, and tea tree oil. This essential oil mixture took my hair from a damaged mess to shiny and healthy.
The best option to damaged hair is to use our repair oil and repair balm which uses many of the oils listed above. Using our repair oil after a shower or whenever you need to apply it will help get rid of those flakes and repair damaged ends. Our balm has the same powerful effects but will also help condition for longer and you can style your beard to your desire as well.
Our products are formulated for any type of hair including beards.
So, whether you are bald and bearded or have long hair and no beard, you'll be covered.

3 Ways to Repair a Damaged Beard
We all have those times when our beards just don’t seem to cooperate. Whether you left your beard products at home for a week vacation, or the weather is just so dry nothing seems to work, they just tend to have those times when they’re super dried out, flaky, itchy and the hair just seems malnourished. Our ultimate beard repair regimen will be sure to make your beard look and feel like new.
Try any (or all) of the 3 methods below when you feel like you need to rejuvenate your beard and you’ll be feeling better in no time. While you can do this as often as you like, I don’t think you’d need to do it any more than once a week.
Let’s get into it!
The Hot Beard Oil Treatment
The hot towel treatment is no longer reserved for the clean shaven men of the world. That’s right, those of us that are bearded can still get the classic hot towel treatment, and we can even do it in the comfort of our own home! So pour yourself a glass of something warming, pull up your favorite chair and get ready to give yourself a nice relaxing beard treatment. The key to this one is to really focus on the experience. Make it something you look forward to!
What You’ll Need:
Natural Beard Oil Conditioner
Large Mixing Bowl
Medium Sized Hand Towel
Your Favorite Chair
How It’s Done:
Drop some Beard Oil into your palm (you may choose to use a little bit more than your normal dosage; that’s completely fine), rub it between your hands and apply it to your beard as you normally would, making sure to get it all the way down to the roots and coat the hair and skin completely. A boar’s bristle beard brush may help with this as well. Fill a mixing bowl with hot water and set it aside within reach of your treatment area. Make sure to test that the water is not too hot. Wet your hand towel with warm water. It should be about as hot as you can safely tolerate. Lay back in your chair and wrap the towel around your entire beard. When your towel cools down, dip it in the bowl of hot water. It helps to have an assistant to replace the water in case it cools as well. Repeat this process for 15-30 minutes. When finished, wipe away excess oil and rinse your face with cold water to seal in the moisture.
DIY Beard Mask
A beard mask is meant to load up your beard and skin with reparative nourishment and deep moisture to reduce itching, flakiness and red cracking skin. It will also help soften the hair and bring back its healthy shine. Overall your beard will look and feel amazing. The best part is you can make this hair mask at home using ingredients you probably already have.
What You’ll Need:
Raw Honey
Olive Oil (or your other favorite carrier oil)
Plastic Shopping Bag
Small Bowl
How It’s Done:
Measure out 1/4 cup of raw honey and 2 tbsp of olive oil Mix together ingredients using a spoon or a whisk. If you find it difficult to combine them it helps to heat them up in a double boiler. Apply ingredients generously to your beard. Feel free to apply extra to the hair on the top of your head, too! Cover your beard with a plastic shopping bag. You can always just hang the handles over your ears. And yes, you will look goofy while doing this. Note: While this step probably isn’t absolutely necessary, it will help trap and recirculate heat over the ingredients to open your pores and help them absorb into your hair and skin. Leave it on for 15-30 minutes and rinse off excess in the shower.
Total Beard Routine Reset
The above methods are great for applying extra moisture when your beard needs it and helps repair the skin and hair, but sometimes all your beard needs is a reset of your routine. This can be done in one day using the products you probably already have on hand. I like spend time and do this once every couple of weeks just to make sure my routine is still on point and I haven’t neglected anything due to laziness or lack of time. The beauty of this routine is that it really just requires that you reset your routine and make sure you hit every single step, morning and night, for one day.
What You’ll Need:
Natural Beard Oil Conditioner
Natural Beard Balm
Natural Beard Butter
Natural Beard Wash or Soap
Natural Beard Conditioner
Boar’s Bristle Brush
How It’s Done:
In the morning:
Take a shower and make sure to deep clean your beard using a natural wash and conditioner formulated specifically for your beard. Out of the shower, lightly towel dry your beard and apply Beard Oil while the pores are still open. Brush it in with a Boar Bristle Brush. Finish drying your beard using a blow dryer set to low heat. Style your beard using either a Beard Balm or Beard Butter and brush again. If you need help with your morning styling and conditioning, follow our recommended Morning Beard Routine.
Throughout the day:
Keep notice of your beard’s moisture levels. Apply more Beard Oil and brush throughout the day as needed.
In the Evening:
Apply Beard Oil once more and brush it into your hair and skin. Top it off with some Beard Butter and brush that in as well. Follow our Evening Beard Care Routine if you’d like to see what we recommend.
Do any (or all) of these simple reparative treatments at least once a month and you’ll notice your beard will be in the best shape it’s ever been!

The Ultimate Guide On How To Fix Damaged Beard Hair
Austin Collard
5 minute read
Losing the hair on your head is often one of a guy’s greatest fears.
Most of us have specific routines designed to care for our hair, and we know the basics of how to keep it from getting damaged.
Sadly, the same isn’t true for facial hair…
A lot of men have a less than perfect beard-care regimen, which can result in poor beard hygiene, a thin or patchy beard, or, worst of all, beard damage.
The unfortunate thing about this is that it discourages many men from trying to grow their beard out.
Without the right tools and knowledge to keep their beard from getting damaged as it grows, a lot of guys soon give up when their beard begins to look patchy, rough, dry, or otherwise messed up.
Here’s the good news: most of the big beard-damaging mistakes that people make are easy to prevent or reverse.
Here are some things that you need to know in order to fix damaged beard hair and keep your beard looking awesome as it gets longer.
Common Beard-care Mistakes That Hurt Your Beard
1. Using The Wrong Products
This is probably the number one mistake that men make when growing out their beards.
A lot of guys growing a beard for the first time fail to realize that beard hair and head hair are very different and require different types of care.
But using traditional shampoo, conditioner, or styling products on your hair can damage your beard, causing it to become dry or even start to fall out.
If you’re really looking to grow a beauty, you’ll need to invest in some specially formulated beard washing products.
2. Excessive Brushing And Grooming
Your beard certainly isn’t fragile. But with time, wear and tear can start to loosen your hair at the follicle.
Although grooming your beard can be enjoyable, too much of anything is a bad thing.
If you notice that the skin on your face starts to get sore after brushing, or you’re shedding more hair than normal, try to restrict your brushing to just a couple of times a day.
3. Straightening And Blow-drying
Applying excessive heat is one of the most damaging mistakes that you can make when grooming your beard.
Ironing and blow-drying can be done right, but even minor mistakes can lead to cracked, dry hair that falls out under pressure.
If you decide to do these things to your beard, make sure that you look up tips on how to do it right and not dry up your beard’s natural moisture.
There are also beard straighteners specifically designed to straighten your beard in a safer manner than most hair straighteners would. These products are becoming more and more popular in men’s grooming.
4. Touching Or Pulling On Your Beard
Some people have a habit of rubbing, scratching, or tugging on their beard. This can be bad for your beard for a few reasons…
The first is that, when you touch your beard in the same place too often, it can wear away the natural protective coating of oils that your beard and face naturally produce, leaving your beard dry and, once again, susceptible to breakage.
Additionally, too much pulling on your beard can loosen strands of hair from their follicles, causing them to fall out.
5. Poor Diet
Finally, don’t underestimate the power of a healthy diet.
In order to grow right, your beard needs certain proteins and oils that only come from a varied, balanced diet.
How To Undo The Damage
Now that you know the common causes of a damaged beard, here are a few quick tips on reversing the damage done to your beard as a result of bad habits:
1. Have A Routine
A great beard doesn’t happen overnight…
Growing a great beard means having a daily routine that includes beard-care.
Many of the best treatments to help you grow a stronger beard and prevent damage only work if you’re consistent.
Block out a time every morning or evening that’s dedicated to cleaning your face and beard.
2. Use The Right Shampoo
Shampoos designed for the hair on your head tend not to work well with beards.
But, out of ignorance or laziness, many men end up washing their beards with the same shampoo they wash their heads with.
Finding the right kind of wash for your beard is the first step to keeping it strong and healthy.
3. Condition And Oil Your Beard
Dryness is one of the main problems that men with beards face, and it’s also one of the easiest to solve.
There are a great number of products out there, like beard conditioner and beard oil, designed to soften and moisturize your beard, restoring its natural sheen.
4. Get The Right Kind Of Brush
Synthetic plastic combs and brushes tend to do more harm than good on your beard.
The best kind of brush is an all-natural boar bristle brush, which can redistribute your hair’s natural oils from the base to the tip, and help exfoliate due to its firm bristles.

Dry Beard? How to Fix a Brittle, Scratchy & Dry Beard
Beards are meant to make you look and feel your best, which is why you might be tempted to shave your brittle, scratchy, or dry beard. You aren’t the only one feeling the pain as kissing and snuggling up with you isn’t comfortable for your bae—and we don’t want that! Before you give up consider the tips below. First, identify why your beard is less than its best, then work on the fix.
Proper Product Layering To Repair And Soften Your Beard
Let’s first cover the proper way to layer your beard products. Use these steps as a proactive approach to keeping your beard soft, and to repair and soften your damaged beard. If your beard is short you can skip step #3.
Step #1—Wash with a beard-safe cleanser both morning and evening, after working out, and after swimming.
Step #2—Massage in a beard conditioner to nourish and repair your beard.
Step #3—Massage, then brush or comb through a beard growth balm. Balms aren’t just for your beard, as they moisturize your face too.
Step #4—Massage, then brush or comb in your beard oil. This will act as a protective layer to keep your beard healthy and soft.
These steps are fast and easy, taking less than 30 seconds. Brushing and combing are essential to evenly distribute your products. Watch the video below to see for yourself.
But What Made My Beard So Itchy, Dry, And Brittle?
There are a variety of factors that can lead to an uncomfortable beard. Below are the top culprits. Identify which one is making your beard brittle so that you can take a more proactive approach from here on out.
Let It Grow
It’s just a matter of fact, new beards are itchy. If your beard is less than 3 weeks old your skin is adjusting to having hair grow through your facial hair follicles. If you are used to rocking stubble or a goatee this may come as a shock but be patient as new growth itch won’t last forever. Minimize the itch with a twice daily beard growth oil to soothe the itch and nourish the hair follicles to accelerate growth. As your beard grows to medium or long length you will need to add the conditioner and balm as mentioned above, but for new growth, you can begin with oil.
Using The Wrong Beard Wash
We hear you, it’s faster and easier to use the same bar soap on your face as you do on your body. Unfortunately, bar soap can strip your beard hair, over time leaving it brittle and dry. We are here to simplify your daily grooming with our all-in-one Hair, Beard, & Body Wash. Made with black seed oil and honey, it conditions while it cleanses. This means you can wash your beard every time you shower without worry about drying it out. Be sure to keep an extra bottle in your gym bag.
Swimming
If you only swim here and there or when on vacation it is unlikely that swimming will do too much damage. If you are an avid swimmer or swim more during the summer months there are a few extra steps you should take before hopping in the pool. Freshwater is less of a concern, but follow these tips for both chlorine and saltwater, for both your hair and beard.
Wet your beard before you hop in Comb an extra layer of beard oil through before swimming Wash your beard as soon as you are done swimming Follow up with another layer of conditioner, balm, and oil
Extreme Weather
If you live in extreme hot or cold weather and are not layering on the appropriate protective products, it could be the reason why your beard is dry or brittle. Even high winds and direct sunlight will dry out your beard and increase your split ends, which we will discuss more below. If you live in cold weather and spend more time outside than walking to and from your car you want to ensure your beard is dry before heading out as the extreme cold will damage your hair faster when wet.
Split Ends
Your beard may be soft and moisturized but if you have split ends it can feel prickly or itchy when you snuggle up with the one you love. Heading to the barbershop every 6 weeks or so will keep split ends to a minimum. And yes, you still need to trim and reshape even if you are growing out your beard. In between your trips to the barbershop you must trim your beard hair at home. No need to worry as you don’t have to be a pro. A quick trim of brittle and unruly hairs takes 30 seconds or less. Comb your beard hairs upwards so that it fans out, then comb it back into place. The hairs that remain sticking up should be trimmed down.
You’re Dehydrated
We all know we should drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water and other hydrating fluids each day, but we don’t always consider the why. The whys are many, but in terms of your beard, and even the hair on your head, if you are dehydrated internally your hair will be dry too. So, if you have tried all the suggested tips above and nothing else is working, try kicking your hydration up a notch. Hydration can come from water, coconut water, herbal teas, fresh fruit and veggie smoothies, milk, sports beverages, and even your daily cup of coffee.
It’s Time For A Chop
Most brittle, scratchy, and dry beards can be salvaged, but if your beard is beyond repair you may need to cut it down a bit to let healthy new hair grow. Talk with your barber about your best options. Not to worry, as your newer growth will still be healthy, so you won’t have to do a clean shave.
Here’s to your healthy, soft, and kissable beard! 💋
