How To Unlock General Grievous in LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga

Seventeen years ago, the original LEGO Star Wars game was released, bringing its unique blocky rendition of the prequel trilogy. Now, we return to a galaxy far, far away with LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, a massive collection of the entire Star Wars experience. Featuring the nine core movies, spin-off movies, Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, and all the Disney+ shows, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga boasts 380 playable characters to unlock, categorized into nine classes, providing the most extensive Star Wars experience to date. This guide focuses on the fan-favorite, lightsaber-collecting Droid, General Grievous, and how to unlock General Grievous in LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga.

All characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga appear in their canonical order, i.e., where they first appeared in the movies. Like Darth Maul and Emperor Palpatine, General Grievous is also a Villian class character, introduced in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Being a Villian class character, he has access to villain abilities such as thermal detonators and Empire terminals. To unlock General Grievous, you will need to clear his boss fight and buy him from the Holoprojector.

Unlock General Grievous in LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga

General Grievous is a cybernetic warlord, leading the Clone Army for the Confederacy against the Galactic Empire during The Clone Wars. A ruthless tactician and skilled combat, Grievous had already made numerous cybernetic enhancements to him in his quest to be the strongest on the field. While leading the attack against the Separatists, he was disfigured by the Grand Army (comprised of several Jedi Knights) and left to die. Count Dooku rescued him and took him under apprenticeship, training him in lightsaber combat and completely replacing his organic body with Droid parts, except for his brain and eyes.

He would then go on revenge missions against Jedi Knights, keeping their lightsabers as trophies. This results in his iconic look, sporting four Jedi lightsabers. General Grievous has become a fan favorite since his introduction in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and from his subsequent appearances in the animated show The Clone Wars. His dialogues with Obi-Wan have been a staple of the meme community for the past fifteen years. To unlock Force Ghost Obi-Wan Kenobi and others, read our Star Wars the Skywalker Saga Ghost Characters guide.

Prerequisites For Unlocking General Grievous

As mentioned above, General Grievous appears in Revenge of the Sith. To unlock General Grievous in LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga and add him to your fine collection of characters, you will need to start with the Prequel Trilogy (Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith). Complete the first two episodes and proceed past the “Out for the Count” mission.

Completing “So Uncivilized” Mission To Unlock General Grievous

“So Uncivilized” is the second mission in Revenge of the Sith. The mission has three objectives, and General Grievous is the second mission objective. His boss fight is a lengthy one, requiring you to withstand his blows and solve puzzles.

The boss fight is divided into 4 phases, and each phase ends when Obi-Wan cuts off one of General Grevious’s limbs.

Phase 1

General Grievous will charge attack, and slam attack you with all his four lightsabers. It is best to keep your distance and utilize the lightsaber throw to deal damage to him in this first phase.

As his first health bar comes to an end, a Quick Time event will be triggered; at the end, Obi-Wan will cut one of General Grievous’s limbs off.

Following this, he will run and climb up to the roof, leaving you to clear a wave of Droid Troopers. Clear the wave and then take control of Commander Cody to shoot at the target to build up the energy needed to unlock the pulling mechanism. Pull this lever, and General Grievous will fall.

Phase 2

This is now the second phase. General Grievous may have only three limbs left, but he will be much quicker this time. Keep your distance and throw the lightsaber to deal damage. You can also choose to take control of Commander Cody to shoot at him to cause a distraction and then resume control of Obi-Wan to attack him from behind.

Deplete his health bar again, and General Grievous’s second limb will be cut off.

Clear the second wave of Droid Troopers and then make your way up to the platform Grievous has escaped to.

Once on the platform, press the red button to cause a ladder to descend. Follow General Grievous and destroy all Droid Troopers in the way. Unblock the ladder entrance using Commander Cody at the end of the hallway and then climb up to the bridge. You are now halfway through unlocking General Grievous in LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga.

Phase 3

Once you follow General Grievous to the middle of the bridge, he will destroy it. Wall run over the gap, and after a small Quick-Time Event, you’ll be back on the ground for the third phase. He will be much more dangerous in this phase. If you try to attack him blindly, he will obliterate you.

Instead, block his repeated blows, after which you’ll have an opening to attack.

Once his third limb has been cut off, General Grievous will climb up to the platform on the other side of the arena.

The third wave of Elite Droid Troopers (with electric staff) will come, and you’ll have to clear them.

Force Lift the two crates and jump from them to climb to the platform. Once you clear the Droid Troopers here, General Grievous will jump higher up.

Press the red button shown above to bring Commander Cody up and get to the Communications Panel to have your ships fire on General Grievous.

Phase 4

This is now the final phase of General Grievous boss fight. During this, many Elite Droid Troopers will also join the fight, and you’ll need to keep a lookout for your health. Deplete his health bar for the fourth (and final time), and the boss fight will end. Watch the closing cutscene and complete the “So Uncivilized” mission in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Unlocking General Grievous

After completing the “So Uncivilized” mission, Grievous can be purchased for 200,000 studs in the Holoprojector menu.

If you’ve fallen short of the studs needed to purchase him, you should read our the best studs farming methods in LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga. There is no known cheat code or alternate unlock method to bypass the stud requirement, so the only way to get your hands on Grievous is through studs.

This concludes our guide on unlocking General Grievous in LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. If you’re thinking of buying the game for yourself then read about LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga editions guide to see which one suits you the best.

Thoughts

General Grievous is a very strong character to have against Jedis. With a good number of Jedis in the game, he really does shine. His basic attacks cannot be avoided. He has 2 AoE skills. The first AoE skill can inflict healing immunity and the second can reduce enemy turn meter + the chance is doubled against Jedis.

His leader skill is also very unique. It is made to counter critical teams. That puts people like Luke Skywalker/Darth Sidious/IG-86 at a slight disadvantage due to having less damage.

Now, he is quite squishy with a low health pool. However, that can be offset if you run a droid team, which would allow him to gain 9% hp for every droid ally.. HK-47 would be a great leader along with Poggle, IG-86 and IG-88. Now the droid team only lacks a good droid healer.

He is hard to get though, especially for free to play players. Good luck farming him!

Rating

[usrlist “Campaign Map:5” “Arena:4.5” “Galactic War:4.5”]

Verdict: Farm and gear him. He is a very good and well rounded character. Good luck farming!

General Grievous Arrives In Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes

The notorious Jedi hunter General Grievous has arrived in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and you can add him to your team to form the ultimate Droid squad — but it’s going to take a little work on your part first.

That’s because Grievous is exclusive (at least for now) to the Shard Shop, where you can trade in extra Shards for characters you’ve already advanced to the full 7-star rank for a special Shard Currency. One Shard gets you 15 Shard Currency.

With us so far? General Grievous takes 80 Shards to unlock, which doesn’t sound so bad until you consider that he’s quite a bit more expensive than other characters in the Shard Shop. For instance, it only takes you 300 Shard Currency for two Ahsoka Tano Shards.

For Grievous, you’ll need the following:

1125 Shard Currency = 5 General Grievous Shards

2250 Shard Currency = 10 General Grievous Shards

6750 Shard Currency = 30 General Grievous Shards

Math isn’t necessarily our specialty here at App Trigger, but our intern informs us that you’ll need 18000 Shard Currency to unlock Greivous, which means 1200 extra Shards for your 7-star characters.

If you’ve got a handful of 7-star characters already, that might not seem so daunting. Yours truly has one, which means I’m going to be spamming the same Squad Cantina Battle for a while to make this happen.
