The Basilisk
Following a cutscene, you’ll find yourself in a battle with the Basilisk. Your enemy is positioned along the back center of the room. As you run around its base, it will follow you with a laser-type gaze. Keep moving. If you stop and remain in one location for awhile, it’ll tilt its head back, then lash out toward you.

That knowledge will come in handy shortly. See the cauldron along the bottom of the screen? It needs three ingredients to function. To find those ingredients, you need to eliminate the rock formations along the sides of the chamber. Start with the one in the back right area. Stand in front of it to attract the snake’s attention. When it lashes out at you, its head will collide with the pile of rocks and a heart will vanish from your foe’s life meter. As Harry, step on the patch of light in front of a snake head and interact with it to receive the first ingredient, then take that item over to the cauldron. The second rock formation, next to the first one, functions largely the same way except that after the snake makes an opening for you, a rock appears that you must open with Wingardium Leviosa magic to obtain the ingredient. Once you have it, drop it into the cauldron.
Now you can find the third ingredient by heading to the left side of the screen, then letting the snake lash through more rocks to reveal a third opening. You can use magic to make an enemy appear, then hit it with a blast of magic to reveal the final ingredient. Now carry it over to the potion and drop it into the mixture. You’ll create a potion to increase your strength. Take a swig of that, then head back left and climb the ledge to where a lever is positioned on the wall. Give it a tug and you’ll release the phoenix, who will fly out and peck your enemy in the eyes repeatedly.
The Basilisk is almost defeated at that point. It has only one heart left on its life meter now. Hit the snake with a few direct hits from your wand to scare it away for awhile. Now head around the outer edge of the area and use Wingardium Leviosa magic on any fallen blocks that you find. You’ll be able to assemble and interact with three musical instruments. Then head to the back upper left recess in the wall. You can hop up to it, then use magic to attach two chains to an overhead bar. Now you can pull down a curtain to reveal a pipe. Jump through it and you’ll be warped to an area to your upper right, Mario-style. Head to the right again to find that the snake has returned. He’s positioned just beyond the sorting cap. The snake will periodically send a gust of air your way to keep you from getting too close. Between gusts, get close enough to use magic on the sorting hat and extract a sword. Then at the next opportunity, head up and past the sword, into the recess along the back wall. From there, you can safely cause the weapon to rise up into the air using your magic. Direct the point of the blade under the snake’s head to deal the killing blow and finish the stage.
Collectibles
Once you clear the bathroom portion of the stage and drop down into a tunnel, start looking in the bones along the floor for skeletons that you can assemble. There are four in the area. One is just to the right from where you land, one is to the lower right from there, another is toward the far left side of the area and a final one rests along a ledge toward the upper right portion of the area. Once you assemble all four skeletons, you’ll cause a House Crest fragment to materialize.
As Fang or as Hermione’s cat, dig at each of the soft patches of soil within the second portion of the stage. When you dig at the last location, a House Crest fragment will appear.
In the battle with the Basilisk, head toward the lower left side of the room. There’s a lock on the wall that you can hit with a blast of Reducto magic. When you do, a House Crest fragment will appear from the hole that the lock was blocking.
During the battle with the Basilisk, which takes place in a huge waterlogged chamber, you can use loose blocks to assemble three musical instruments. Once you’ve put them together, interact with them using some more magic blasts and when you’ve played all three instruments, a House Crest fragment will appear.

You will find the stage’s Student in Peril as you work through the first chamber, destroying bathroom stall doors while assembling piping. The student is in one of the stalls. You’ll only be able to open it once vines grow over it and you send them away using Lumos magic. Make sure that you brush against her if you haven’t received credit within a few seconds of opening her stall.
Once you drop into the underground tunnel area after clearing the bathroom area, make your way toward the left. There’s a stone embankment there with some chests that are covered in vines. Use Lumos magic to chase away the vines, then use Dark Magic to open the left of the two chests and find the Gilderoy Lockhart character token.
After dropping down into the tunnel from the restroom, head left and use Lumos magic to chase away vines that are covering treasure chests. Use Dark Magic to open the right of those two chests and find the Wizard (Green) character token.
When you find yourself battling the Basilisk, tend to the fight as normal. Once he is down to one heart and you have sent the red phoenix into the room, head to the back right corner as Griphook. There, you’ll find a safe. Open it to obtain the Tom Riddle character token. Note that for whatever reason, the safe is difficult to open until the basilisk has only the one heart, so don’t waste your time trying until that is the case.

First Time

Have Ron send Scabbers in and press the wheel to make some more pieces, then switch to Harry or Professor Lockhart to get the vines off the door of the next stall, free the Student In Peril, and levitate the next part of the tunnel upwards. Get rid of the vines on the next door and fix the tunnel again to have Scabbers climb through and complete the maze. Open the chest, put the plunger together, and ride it to the right toilet to get the pieces to the entrance. Have Harry use Parseltongue to open the chamber and let you through.
After falling down the hole, put together the first skeleton. The second one is to the right of the first, outside of the small cave you started in. The third one is in the top left corner behind the digging spot. Go up onto the left and raise the plunger to get rid of the squid. Put together the pieces you’re given and have one of the other characters raise you up. Go across and put together the final skeleton, giving you the Gryffindor Crest piece. The water will help you get to the next platform to put the pieces together and make a bridge. Climb inside the snake’s mouth and go through the tunnel to the third area.
Have the basilisk crash into the rocks to the right of the spiderweb on the wall. Open the rock to have the skeleton dance and fall apart, then take his arm as an ingredient for the potion. Now have the basilisk destroy the rocks to the left of the spiderweb and use Parseltongue on the snake for another ingredient. Have the basilisk destroy the rocks to the left, open the rock, kill the snake inside, and collect the final ingredient. Pull the chain on the left to have Fawkes attack the basilisk.
