Drop-In Anchors

Drop-In anchors are female concrete anchors designed for anchoring into concrete. Drop the anchor into the pre-drilled hole in the concrete. Using a setting tool expands the anchor within the hole in the concrete.

Drop-in anchors require a setting tool to install. If you do not have a setting tool, be sure to purchase one.

USES

• Drop-In anchors should only be used in solid concrete.• Their main use is to insert threaded rod to suspend electrical cable trays, HVAC ductwork and fire sprinkler pipe and heads.• They can be used in applications that require a flush mounted anchor and when a bolt needs to be inserted and removed.• A setting tool is required to set the anchor in the concrete.

INSTALLATION

• As with all female type anchors, the designated diameter of the Drop-In anchor refers to the side diameter of the anchor.• The outside diameter of the anchor is equal to the hole diameter required to be drilled in the concrete.• Minimum embedment for each diameter of Drop-In anchor is the length of the anchor.• The Drop-In Anchor requires the bottom of the hole to set the anchor.• First, drop the anchor in the hole with the threaded open end up towards the surface, then insert proper setting tool and hit with a hammer until the Drop-In anchor is fully set.

HOLDING STRENGTH

• The holding values of the Drop-In anchor are mainly dependent on the psi of the concrete and on the depth of embedment. Other factors include if steel rebar is in the concrete and on the full expansion of the Drop-In anchor.• The Drop-In anchor has sides that are smooth to allow for more surface area to be in contact with the concrete, thereby providing consistent holding values.

SIZES

• Drop-In anchor are manufactured in five diameters, each diameter has one length.• The Drop-In anchor is not manufactured in diameters of 7/8″ or 1″.• Every size of the Drop-In anchor is available in standard zinc plating, 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel.• No diameter of the Drop-In anchor comes in a galvanized carbon steel.

Screw Anchors – The Removable Concrete Anchoring Solution

When it comes to general fastening applications into concrete most might not know what to use. Unlike other substrates that have a ton of tools and options for completing such tasks, concrete requires a more unique type of fastener to get the job done – the conveniently named concrete anchor.

Fastening into concrete more than once wastes time and energy. So, when the use of an expansion anchor risks cracking of concrete, you need another way. No to mention, sleeve or expanding anchors are single use, so if you need to move the anchor for any reason, you will have to use another one. This makes your choice in fastener crucial for your job.

Thankfully concrete screw anchors solves this issue. Often the size and width of these screws are closer to that of a standard screws helping these fasteners be firmly embedded into many types of masonry when fixing window frames, patio doors and the like.

Unlike chemical anchoring or sleeve anchors, concrete screw anchors can be removed with ease leaving the hole clear of debris – making miscalculations a quick fix. The dual-hardened body and large diameter self-tapping screw by nature make this anchor ideal for high load applications. Using their sharp edges, these anchors dig into the concrete without requiring any sort of expansion. Because of this the concrete screw anchor is ideal for connection points for holding down assemblies with base plates.

Screw anchors use rotation setting for high strength loading. The fasteners flexibility is well suited for close-to-edge or close-to-anchor fastening, as it does not expand and burst the surrounding substrate.

In general, if looking for a quick installation with the possibility of easy removal from concrete, the concrete screw anchor is the ideal solution.
