Nalgene water bottles have long been one of the top names in outdoor hydration. They’re super lightweight, durable, and most importantly, they don’t leak – which keeps your pack dry out on the trail. They’re an excellent product built for adventurers, by adventurers, and we love carrying their complete line of products in our store. The only question we regularly get about Nalgene water bottles is how to wash them. Most of our customers want to know if they’re dishwasher safe, or how to wash them properly if they’re out on the trail. And really, these questions make a lot of sense. If you’re drinking out of your Nalgene water bottle every day, it’s really important that you’re keeping it as clean as possible so you don’t get sick. So, let’s get to some of those questions:

Are Nalgene Bottles Dishwasher Safe?

The short answer is yes. Nalgene water bottles can be safely run through the dishwasher if they’re placed securely on the top shelf. It is important to make sure that you place them in the dishwasher upside down in a way that they won’t flip over when the dishwasher starts up. If your Nalgene bottle flips on its side or right-side up while it’s in the machine, it’s very likely that it won’t actually come out of the washer clean. So make sure it’s in their securely, and you should be good to go after one cycle.

What if my Nalgene Bottle doesn’t fit in the dishwasher?

The tablet will work to remove any germs for you, ensuring you’ve got a nice, clean, safe Nalgene bottle for the rest of your hike or camping trip. Just make sure to rinse the bottle out well after you shake the cleaning tablet around in there.
