Sometimes there’s danger involved in life, but every reward carries risk with it. If you never take risks, you’ll never get anywhere in life, and you certainly won’t learn how to live life to the fullest.

Staying in your comfort zone is the fastest way to become discontent . Without stepping outside what you’re already comfortable with, you will cease to learn and stagnate in both your personal and professional life.

While it may feel uncomfortable, taking a risk can be as simple as saying yes next time your friends want to go out instead of staying at home alone. It can mean going out on a blind date, buying plane tickets to a new city, or dragging out those paints that have been stuffed away for years.

When people look back on their lives, they regret the chances they didn’t take more than the ones they did, so find something new to try today and set goals beyond what you currently believe possible.

3. Show Your Love to People You Care About

Family and friends will always appreciate hearing that you love and appreciate them in everyday life. It will brighten a stranger’s day to hear a random compliment. As a certified coach I spend a lot of time reading, researching, and considering the meaning of life with my clients. Is there a better way to live? What does happiness really mean? And how do we reach the end of life and be at peace with the life that we have lived?

There are many different ways to live a fulfilling life and it is up to us to find what makes the most sense to us personally. Our own personality, values, circumstances, and responses to life challenges can affect our choices and how we live each day.

Here are a few things, in no special order, that I have learned that can help guide you in creating your own “best life” list:

Live in the moment. We hear it all the time, but the present is really all we have. Put aside regrets about yesterday and fears about tomorrow. Instead, try asking yourself: what can I do today to make my day 3% better? I find this helps focus me on the present and on the things that are within my control.

Share and give love to others. It will only enrich your life further.

Keep learning. When we learn new things, we grow. When we grow as people, life improves. It’s that simple.

Know that nothing is permanent. Neither the good nor the bad times will last forever. Change is the only constant in life.

Practice gratitude. Every night I close my eyes and reflect on three things from the day that I am grateful for. It is a constant reminder that there is always something good around us.

Forgive others and yourself. Yep, nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes. The important thing is to learn from those mistakes, to forgive and to move on.

Believe and dream. A lot has been written about the importance of hope and in believing that we can create the realities that we desire.

Do it. Take those first steps into the unknown. Choose to get unstuck and move forward, even if you are afraid.

Feel the good and the bad. Happiness only comes when we have truly experienced sadness. Be in touch with all of your emotions, in order to enjoy the precious moments that life presents to us.

Long term goals refer to those dreams we hold in our hearts. They begin as aspirations and whispers of hope, but they become real when you decide to take action.

Long term goals can relate to your career, like starting a business or changing your profession. You may seek out financial goals like buying a house or paying for your child’s education. Perhaps you have personal aspirations in mind like traveling the world or becoming a mentor.

They may seem out of reach at first, but with time, effort, and planning, we can achieve them.

Here’s how to set tangible, measurable goals:

Break down long-term goals into baby steps: You need to know what specific steps to take each day, week, and month to achieve your goals.
