How to make Colored Whipped Cream
We have all the directions you’ll need to make pretty and delicious homemade Colored Whipped Cream. It could not be easier to make and this colored whipping cream will look so special and pretty on your desserts.
When Nancy and I were kids, Cool Whip was our Mom’s whipped topping of choice. We rarely if ever had Whipped Cream and we don’t know why because it is so very delicious. Now a days we will almost always serve whipped cream as a dessert topping. And even though the whipped cream in the can tastes great – Whipped Cream from scratch is better. And it is so very easy to make! And sometimes on special occasions when our dessert calls for a little extra pizzazz — we make Colored Whipped Cream.
Pour 1 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream into a measuring cup. This is the point where you add the food coloring. For our pretty pink whipped cream we added the tiniest drop of pink food coloring. You don’t need very much! Mix the food coloring into the whipping cream with a spoon until it is completely incorporated.
Now pour the colored whipping cream into a “CHILLED” metal mixing bowl. We placed both our mixing bowl and the whisk attachment in the freezer for approximately 30 minutes before we made the whipped cream. Now add Powdered Sugar to taste. We used 3 tablespoons of Powdered Sugar. You might like your Whipped Cream to be more of less sweet. After much trial and error – we think 3 tablespoons is the “just right” amount.
Using the whisk attachment, beat on medium speed until stiff peaks form. Do not over-beat the whipped cream, it will turn into butter if you whisk it too long.
That’s all there is to making pretty, creamy and delicious Colored Whipped Cream from scratch.
Next time you are going to add whipped cream to your dessert, try this recipe for homemade colored whipped cream! Your family and guests will love it!

Amazing Ivory {Creating Color Palettes}
Amazing Ivory {Creating Color Palettes}
If you haven’t noticed by now, I am a color lover. Nothing makes me happier than to be surrounded by pretty colors. Not too long ago, while surfing Pinterest, I ran across this beautiful printable from Sweet Coconut Lime. EVERYTHING about it appealed to me but most of all, I LOVED the color palette. I couldn’t wait to recreate it for a cookie project, and now that I have, I’ll show you how.
Sometimes ivory is called “off-white”. Since I created these colors by adding ivory to basic colors, I call these “off-colors”. A
drop or two of ivory added to any color can transform it completely, giving it a vintage-y feel.
Believe it or not, this little bottle is the key to perfect “off-colors”.
These were the colors I happened to need for the project I was working on, but this tip can be used for almost any color. The originals used to create the off-color palette below are indicated on each color. {For gray I actually used a touch of Super Black}
I made my chevron cookies using the off-colors above. Pretty, right?
Ivory also makes a WONDERFUL flesh tone, which you can learn about HERE.

The next time you mix colors, try adding a drop or two of ivory gel paste. You may be surprised with the results. I used this trick for my Halloween cookies this year…I can’t wait to show you how they turned out.
I feel a great week coming on. Glad you stopped by! Have a happy Monday, y’all!
