Beginners Guide to Reading the Akashic Records

Hello dear kindred spirits, today I want to give you a little guide to reading the Akashic Records. I learned how to read the Akashic Records in the spring of 2018, when a friend of mine asked me if I had ever heard of them. The word “Akashic” struck a resonate chord with me. I felt a connection to the word on a core, energetic level. Since then, I’ve always felt a deep calling and pull to dive deep and connect directly with my own Akashic Records. And I’m excited to share what I’ve learned with you today in this blog post and Youtube video!

What are the Akashic Records?

The term Akashic has its roots in the Sanskrit word “Akasha” meaning “ether” “sky” or “atmosphere.” So, it goes without saying that the Akashic Records are thought to exist in the ether – in the non-physical plane of existence a.k.a the mental plane.

The Akashic Records are like an energetic log, a Google search for your soul. And in it are records are everything that has ever existed or taken place, human lifetimes but also the record of all universal events, thoughts, words, emotions and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present, or future in terms of all entities and life forms.

In essence, when you read your own records or the records of someone else, you are connecting with the soul of a person. It’s a sacred space. One that is deeply personal, private and that spans all the lifetimes of a particular soul.

Anyone and everyone has access to them and they are very simple to open.

Tips for Reading the Akashic Records

When you work with the Akashic Records, you’re looking at a bird’s eye view of a situation, place, collective or specific soul. It’s like your own personal library, where all the individual books are divided into specific lifetimes. When you open the records, you may see visuals, colors, movie clues. You may hear sounds or music. Often I see random objects that symbolize something larger or metaphors for concepts that may take some reflecting to fully understand.

Here are some important things to know about reading the records…

1. Ground yourself

Before your venture on in and say the Pathway Prayer out loud, first connect with light, healing energy. You may want to call in Archangel Michael to remove any fears or doubts you’re holding onto. I often like to imagine myself surrounded in white light that slowly trickles in from the base of my feet and up to the crown of my head. It looks almost like a white egg that surrounds and protects me. You may want to do a 5 minute meditation or some breathwork to release any fear or worry before entering.

2. Say a Opening Prayer Out Loud

I personally believe the Akashic Records can be accessed in a multitude of ways. There are a myriad of prayers out there to access the records. Use the one that connects and resonates deeply with you. Be your own teacher and guide yourself to what you most need. You don’t need to get certified or book a reading with someone to open and access the Akashic Records. This is a tool that is open and accessible to everyone. I personally love and have always used Linda Howe’s “pathway prayer” and it’s always opened the doors for me. But all in all, find the prayer that resonates with you.

2. Ask For the Information You’re Looking For

Accessing the Akashic Records isn’t as complicated as you’d think. It’s like a Google search for your soul. After reciting the pathway prayer out loud, you’re in. Simple as that. But once you’re in them….what do you do? Simply put, connect with the energy. Ground yourself in the energy you’re receiving. Then when you’re ready, ask your questions out loud. Think of searching the Akashic Records as if you’re doing a Google search of your soul. What do you want to know? Where do you need guidance? Feel free to get specific and ask about a fear or worry you’re encountering. Perhaps get clarity and answers on an illness or disease you need healing in. Ask about your past lives, about the people and soul contracts you have in this lifetime, about what creative project to play with next. Nothing is off-limits. Go as deep as you want.

3. You’ll Recieve Only What is Important for you now

A lot of people in the spiritual community are fascinated with past lives. Past lives are cool and all, but they aren’t the purpose or point of this current life you’re living. You may feel called to a certain time period and ask the records information on a possible life at that time, but you only receive the information that is important for you in this life, in this body, at this particular time. The Akashic Records only reveal to you what you need to learn in that moment, at that time, to support you on your journey in the n o w. If you get some information about your future in this life, and then ask more questions about the specifics but don’t receive anything additional, that’s okay. Trust that what you’re receiving is what you’re meant to have. Sometimes we’re not supposed to have all the answers right now.

4. Ask for Permission

It’s a sacred place. No doubt about that. So, when reading another person’s soul history, you need to ask them for permission first. You also can’t open the records for anyone under the age of 18 because they need to be able to give full consent. I know a lot of parents may want to know more information about their child’s soul and past lives, but think about it: It’s not fair to invade a child’s soul’s journey when they might not fully grasp or understand the concept of what the records are. Wait until they are of age before requesting access.

5. Close the Records

After receiving the information you need, you’ll need to close the records. Recite the Closing prayer to close it. No worries if you forget to close them! There have been a few times I opened the records before falling asleep at night and ended up having some pretty intense dreams only to remember that I forgot to close them later the next day! I often find my intuition is sharper when I’m in the records, so I often like to work and create videos / write scripts and meditations when I’m in the records. Do what works for you!

6. Write Down Your Messages

Often the entire experience, and all the information received, feels like a long, fuzzy dream. You may receive a lot of visual information in a short amount of time, and so I highly recommend keeping a journal just for your Akashic Record experiences. Be sure to write down the dates. Over time periodically go back to them and you may see a greater story play out within the messages of your soul’s journey.

What to Expect While in the Akashic Records

Once you open the records, you may expect to see visuals, sounds, colors, movie clips. Or you may receive nothing. There’s no thinking; the information will just come. I receive visuals but I also sense feelings or energies. I often get buzzy fingertips, sometimes goosebumps. For me, it feels like lightning in the body when I first open them.

How to Release Fear and Trust Your Akashic Records Experiences

First know this: This is your record. It’s yours.

You have full access to learning and understanding anything (absolutely anything) about your soul that you are curious about. And the amazing thing about it is that you don’t have to be psychic or “gifted” or any of that mumbo jumbo in order to experience them. Anyone can learn to read the Akashic records because it is a history of our souls.

But what do you do if you don’t receieve any messages while reading the Akashic Records? Develop your trust muscle. Let go of your fear and skepticism and trust every single little thing that comes to you. You do not have to think while in the records. You simply sit back, be present and let the records show you. Any small, simple, seemingly insignificant thing you receieve is a message. Trust it. Trust your intuition. Work in tandem with your inner voice. You know more than you think you do. Over time, keep opening the records and keep writing down your messages. In your life, communicate with your intuition often (through journaling, drawing, speaking or just general energetic gut-feelings). The more you develop a close relationship with your inner voice, the more messages will come through easily for you.

Can You Experience Negative Energies in the Akashic Records?

No, the energy in the Akashic Records is healing, meditative, and uplifting. If you feel any dark feelings while in the records or feel compelled to do something you wouldn’t normally do, anxiety may be manifesting on a subconscious level. The Akashic Records is always a loving place where you can reconnect with the joyful, soulful essence of your highest light. If you recieve negative images or thoughts while in the records, focus on relaxing, meditating and grounding before opening the records. I also reccomend unblocking subconscious anxieties, fears and doing shadow work through eft tapping, neural reprogramming or breathwork.

In the religion of theosophy and the philosophical school called anthroposophy, the Akashic records are a compendium of all universal events, thoughts, words, emotions and intent ever to have occurred in the past, present, or future in terms of all entities and life forms, not just human. They are believed by theosophists to be encoded in a non-physical plane of existence known as the mental plane. There are anecdotal accounts but no scientific evidence for the existence of the Akashic records.[1][2][3]

The Sanskrit term akasha was introduced to the language of theosophy through H. P. Blavatsky (1831–1891), who characterized it as a sort of life force; she also referred to “indestructible tablets of the astral light” recording both the past and future of human thought and action, but she did not use the term “akashic”.[5] The notion of an akashic record was further disseminated by Alfred Percy Sinnett in his book Esoteric Buddhism (1883) when he cites Henry Steel Olcott’s A Buddhist Catechism (1881).[6] Olcott wrote that “Buddha taught two things are eternal, viz, ‘Akasa’ and ‘Nirvana’: everything has come out of Akasa in obedience to a law of motion inherent in it, and, passes away. No thing ever comes out of nothing.”

By C. W. Leadbeater’s Clairvoyance (1899) the association of the term with the idea was complete, and he identified the akashic records by name as something a clairvoyant could read.[5] In his 1913 Man: Whence, How and Whither, Leadbeater claims to record the history of Atlantis and other civilizations as well as the future society of Earth in the 28th century.[5][7]
Alice A. Bailey wrote in her book Light of the Soul on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – Book 3 – Union achieved and its Results (1927):

The akashic record is like an immense photographic film, registering all the desires and earth experiences of our planet. Those who perceive it will see pictured thereon: The life experiences of every human being since time began, the reactions to experience of the entire animal kingdom, the aggregation of the thought-forms of a karmic nature (based on desire) of every human unit throughout time. The Austrian theosophist, and later founder of Anthroposophy, Rudolf Steiner used the Akashic records concept mainly in a series of articles in his journal Lucifer-Gnosis from 1904 to 1908, where he wrote about Atlantis and Lemuria, topics related to their purported history and civilization.[8] Besides this, he used the term in the title of lectures on a Fifth Gospel held in 1913 and 1914, shortly after the foundation of the Anthroposophical Society and Steiner’s exclusion from the Theosophical Society Adyar.[9]

Sistine Fibel and her best friend Rumia Tingel are students at a prestigious magical academy, where Sistine hopes to be trained by the best in order to unravel the secrets of the mysterious Sky Castle as per her grandfather’s last wish. When her favorite instructor suddenly retired, his replacement Glenn Radars is anything but what Sistine had hoped for. The “Bastard Magic Instructor” (BMI) appears to be lazy, incompetent, and not that skilled at magic. He is not a certified teacher nor does he have a high rating in the guild. What they do not know is that he is hiding his power and that he is a former assassin from the Imperial Court Mage Corps with a remorseful past who is suffering severe depression. In episode 2 there is an attack on school by the previous instructor, and the BMI is forced to show his true powers. Sistine is baffled as she had misjudged him to be incompetent. As the BMI’s students draw him out of his depression, he finds meaning in the activity of teaching. This whole season is complete with a promise for eventful things to come. Topics that are dealt with are depression, friendship, family relationships, adoption, siblings, following one’s dream, quest for power and more.

Glenn used to be as passionate about magic as Sistine, but became disillusioned by it due to his former partner Sara Silvers’ death and his past as the infamous military assassin known as “The Fool.” He developed his own type of magic, called “The Fool’s World” which negates the activation of all magic within a certain radius, including his own. However, this does not nullify spells that have already been cast. While nullifying the enemies’ magic he then beats them using superior hand-to-hand combat skills. He cannot use combat magic coherently due to it being far away from his area of expertise, but he has an in-depth understanding of the concept of all types of magic, which makes him a good instructor. This also places him in conflict with the traditional Professors who favor rote memorization.
