Yes! You Can Use a Dryer for Your Egyptian Cotton Bedding – Thankfully, these amazing sheets are so easy to care for that you can actually put them right in the dryer after they are washed. How do you dry fitted sheets in the dryer?

Tumble dry your sheets on the low-heat setting to reduce wrinkling and prevent unnecessary wear. Avoid dryer sheets, as they can weaken the material and cause pilling over time.

Can jersey sheets go in the dryer?

Denim fabrics can be put into the dryer, but for optimal care, take them out just before the end of the cycle and leave them to air dry, as they’ll keep their shape for longer. Use a low heat and delicate cycle if using a tumble dryer, as well as low heat if you have crinkles to iron out.

How do I know which SHEEX® performance fabrics are right for me?

SHEEX® ORIGINAL sheets are—as the name says—the first, the ORIGINAL, authentic performance fabric bedding. This fast-drying performance fabric feels like nothing you’ve ever experienced in bedding. It drapes beautifully, is luxuriously silky-soft and breathes nearly 2X better than traditional cotton. ORIGINAL is our most popular product and is perfect for people who want an amazing experience, temperature regulation and moisture-wicking.

ACTIVE COMFORT™ sheets are a gently brushed performance knit fabric that feels like a super soft cotton t-shirt, but because Active Comfort is an authentic performance fabric it wicks moisture and transports excess heat to keep you more comfortable while you sleep.

LUXURY COPPER™ sheets sheets feel similar to SHEEX® ORIGINAL sheets and take the benefits of performance fabrics directly to your skin through our PRO+IONIC™ copper knit. PRO+IONIC™ copper fabrics release ions that may decrease oxidants in the body, and the natural performance attributes in the fabric help reduce odors. LUXURY COPPER™ is the must-have bedding for sleepers wanting a super-soft and skin-friendly authentic performance fabric.

EXPERIENCE™ sheets are a lighter and more breathable version of SHEEX® ORIGINAL sheets. These sheets feel silky-soft and release excess heat away from the body more effectively than the other performance fabrics we offer. If you often sleep hot and find yourself tossing off the covers at night, EXPERIENCE™ can help you create the cooler sleeping environment you desperately need.

ECOSHEEX™ sheets are ultra-soft woven sateen with insulating properties that provide temperature control through every season. Sleepers who love the silky-soft feel of 100% Viscose made from Bamboo sheets will swoon over our ECOSHEEX™ fabric.

SHEEX® PERFORMANCE COTTON sheets are 100% cotton knit with patented TransDRY® Technology to release excess heat and wick moisture away from your skin. This fabric is ideal for sleepers who love the feel of cotton but need a temperature regulating, quick-drying sleep solution.

SHEEX® REVERSIBLE sheets are an ideal option for year-round comfort. One side is silky-smooth performance fabric and feels cool like SHEEX® ORIGINAL sheets, while the other side is brushed performance fabric similar to ACTIVE COMFORT™ sheets for a cozy feel. REVERSIBLE lets you control your comfort level, regardless of the season.

ICED COTTON™ sheets combine cotton percale with TENCEL® lyocell for the ultimate lightweight, crisp, cool sleep solution. TENCEL® lyocell fibers improve moisture absorption and combat bacteria formation better than traditional cotton. Sleepers who only want a crisp cotton but want to sleep cooler will absolutely love ICED COTTON™.

SHEEX® PERFORMANCE FLEECE sheets are plush double-brushed performance fleece fabric. Warm, cozy, breathable and amazingly soft? Enough said – meet your ultimate cold weather sleep solution.

Which SHEEX® performance fabrics are the coolest?

Our recommendation for the “coolest” fabrics would be EXPERIENCE™ or ICED COTTON™ sheets and pillowcases. ICED COTTON™ sheets are ultra-lightweight and use TENCEL® lyocell technology to optimize breathability and moisture absorption. EXPERIENCE™ sheets are our lightest, most breathable performance fabric sheets and combine superior ventilation with moisture wicking for cooler, drier sleep.

How do I take care of my SHEEX® performance fabrics?

In general, use cold water and choose a regular cycle with no bleach or fabric softener and no fabric dryer sheets for SHEEX® performance fabrics. Tumble dry on low, and don’t worry about having to iron – SHEEX® performance fabrics are wrinkle-resistant! They wash and dry wonderfully and also hold up well against fading and shrinking. When washed and dried separately from other fabrics, SHEEX® performance fabrics should not hold static. Use a low heat setting or light steam in the dryer or try adding a bedroom humidifier to keep static away. Please check the product care instructions on both our website and your SHEEX® performance bedding product care label for details. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

How deep are SHEEX® performance sheets?

Our knit fabric sheets will fit beds up to 25″ deep. They include SHEEX® ORIGINAL, SHEEX® PERFORMANCE COTTON, ACTIVE COMFORT™, EXPERIENCE™ and LUXURY COPPER™. Please note that our sheets identified as Twin/Twin XL stretch to fit both a Twin or a Twin XL bed, and our King/Cal King sheets will fit both a King or a Cal King bed. Contact Anna or Kate in Customer Service at 856-334-3021 with additional questions about our sizing. Our woven lines will fit beds up to 19″ deep. They include SHEEX® ICED COTTON and ECOSHEEX™.

Washing, drying, and storing your sheets correctly will help preserve the fabric over time. Use these tips to learn how to wash bedsheets the right way.

Climbing into a bed made up with clean, fresh-smelling sheets is a gloriously cozy feeling. And although washing bedsheets might seem like a straightforward laundry task, achieving crisp, wrinkle-free results requires a bit of care. By following a few essential tips, you can extend the lifespan of your sheets and ensure the best clean with every wash.

First, it’s important to know what your sheets are made of. Look at the care label or packaging to identify the fabric content of your sheets. The most likely materials are cotton, Egyptian cotton, or a cotton-polyester blend, although sheets can also be made of bamboo, linen, or silk. Review the manufacturer’s care recommendations for any special instructions. Keep in mind that cotton-polyester blends will generally come out of the dryer less wrinkled than all-cotton sheets, and bamboo, linen, and silk sheets will likely need special care. Use our guide below to learn how to wash sheets properly to keep your bedding soft and silky for years to come.

How to Wash Sheets

The best way to wash sheets is to launder them separately from towels or other clothing. This gives the sheets more room to circulate in the water, which means they’ll get cleaner. Washing bedsheets alone also prevents damage caused by zippers and other fasteners, and it reduces the amount of pilling that can happen over time. If your washing machine features a center agitator, loosely form each sheet into a ball before dropping it into the tub. This strategy will reduce the damage that can be caused by sheets coming into contact with the agitator.

Always pre-treat stains before laundering sheets. Avoid using bleach on bed linens as it can damage the fabric. If you need to brighten white sheets, add 1/4 cup of lemon juice to the wash water instead of bleach. Use a mild detergent for cotton and cotton-polyester-blend sheets. Special fabrics such as linen and silk might require a specialized detergent, so check the care label before washing.

Wash the sheets on a gentle cycle using cool or lukewarm water. Unless you need to sanitize the sheets due to allergies or after an illness, washing sheets in hot water is usually not necessary. Remove the sheets as soon as the cycle is over to reduce wrinkles. Shaking the sheets out before placing them in the dryer can also reduce wrinkles.

When possible, dry sheets on an outside clothesline but out of direct sunlight. For machine-drying, use a low heat setting to minimize damage from high temperatures. After the cycle finishes, remove the sheets from the dryer as soon as possible and fold them, smoothing wrinkles with your hands. If wrinkles have set, dry the sheets for an additional five minutes with a damp towel tossed into the mix to add moisture. Avoid ironing the sheets if possible because the high heat can damage the fibers.

Give special fabrics the right care by following these instructions for washing bedsheets.

How to Wash Silk Sheets

Silk is strong but needs special laundering to keep its fibers intact. Hand-washing is the preferred method of laundering, at least for the first several washings. Don’t wring silk sheets. Instead, blot them with a towel. If washing in a machine, choose a delicate or hand-wash cycle in cool water, using Woolite detergent ($6, Target) or any special soap recommended by the manufacturer. Hang the sheets on an outside line out of direct sun, or dry on the lowest setting above air fluff on the dryer.

How to Wash Linen Sheets

Because linen is a durable natural fiber, it can withstand higher washing temperatures than other sheets (typically up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit). The more frequently linen sheets are washed, the softer they will become. Use a mild detergent, and avoid bleaches or detergents containing bleach. Linen will dry more quickly than other fabrics, so the sheets won’t need a hot or long dryer setting. Linen can be ironed at the hot linen setting on your iron.

How to Wash Bamboo Sheets

Bamboo is a natural fiber that benefits from using a mild laundry soap or one specially designed for natural products. Bleach or harsh cleaners will damage bamboo sheets. Use a gentle wash cycle, and be prepared for fading as a result of the first few washings (which is why you should wash them separately). While air-drying is preferred, sheets can be put in a dryer on a low or air-dry setting.

When to Wash Sheets

Wash your sheets weekly (more often for humid climates) to extend the life of your bed linens. During the time spent on the bed, dirt, dust, skin cells, body oils and fluids, and fecal material can accumulate on sheets. The longer these particles build up on the sheets, the more stress is put on the sheet fibers. In addition, skin cells and body oils or fluids can attract microscopic mites.

To reduce the washing frequency, bathe before bedtime so you’ll take less dirt into bed with you. Keeping excess sweat, oils, and dirt out of the bed will keep the sheets clean longer. You should also consider having multiple sets of sheets available so a clean set is always ready to go on the bed. By rotating three sets of sheets per bed, the sheets will last longer.

How to Store Clean Sheets

Save time when making up the beds by keeping matching sheets together. Here are a few options for storing clean bedsheets:

Stash the folded sheet set inside one of its matching pillowcases, along with the second pillowcase. This method works well for storing sheets in linen closets or bedroom closets.

Place the folded fitted sheet and pillowcases inside the folded flat sheet right before its last fold. This method also helps keep linen closets or bedroom closets organized.

Store folded sheets in storage boxes labeled by size (such as twin or queen) or by room (primary bedroom). Because of the extra space needed for boxes, this method works best if you have a dedicated linen closet.

Store folded sheets in underbed storage containers in the rooms in which they will be used.

How Often Should You Wash Your Sheets?

Bedding Basics | BETWEENtheSHEEX Blog | Education

4 minute read

Washing bedsheets is one of those chores that no one really wants to do but clean sheets are a part of good personal hygiene. Plus, doesn’t it feel so good to climb into a freshly washed and made bed? It’s like cleaning and organizing your room. It’s work when you’re doing it, but once you’re done, you feel better about your home and yourself.

In this blog, we provide answers to how often you should change your sheets, why you need to clean them regularly, and other frequently asked questions regarding washing your bedding.

How Often Should You Change Your Sheets?

To keep your bedsheets consistently clean, plan to wash your sheets and pillowcases once a week. You can get away with changing your sheets every other week if you’re not susceptible to allergies, don’t sleep with your pet, and you or your partner don’t sweat often.

To help streamline this chore, keep an extra sheet set on deck. That way, you can easily dress your mattress with fresh sheets while your other ones are in the washer.

Things change a bit when it comes to illnesses. If you or your partner get a cold or flu, wash your sheets as soon as the symptoms subside. This will help kill the cold germs and reduce the chances of reinfection.

Why Should You Wash Your Sheets Often?

The biggest reason why you should wash your sheets regularly is because of dust mites. Your bed absorbs tons of sweat and dead skin cells from your body, which creates a breeding ground for these microscopic critters. In fact, 100,000 to 10 million dust mites could be living in your mattress right now. Gross!

Luckily, dust mites don’t bite humans. However, they can cause uncomfortable allergic reactions, as well as skin rashes. Washing your sheets kills dust mites and germs. Do it regularly and your allergies and skin will thank you.

How Often Should You Wash Your Comforter and Blankets?

When it comes to comforters and blankets, you don’t need to wash them as often as sheets. The reason why is because you’re not sleeping directly on them and having full skin-to-skin contact. You should wash your comforter and blankets about once per season. However, if you deal with allergies, you may need to increase the washing frequency and consider hypoallergenic bedding like comforters, pillows, and mattress pads.

How Often Should You Buy New Sheets?

Over time, regular use and frequent washing break down the sheets’ fibers and show signs of wear and tear. Whenever your sheets start to look and feel worn out, it’s time to change your sheets. Two to three years is a good time to consider refreshing your sheets, but this time frame can fluctuate depending on the bedding’s quality. High-quality sheets like SHEEX® can last well beyond three years.

Should You Wash New Sheets?

Make sure to wash brand-new sheets before putting them on your bed. Have you ever wondered why sheets look so crisp in their packaging? Sheet manufacturers use a special starch called “sizing” to make their sheets look as alluring as possible. While sizing improves the appearance of sheets, it can leave the sheets feeling stiff and scratchy. So, it’s not a bad idea to wash your new sheets. It’ll soften the texture and give you a chance to test out the sheets’ quality to see if fading or shrinking happens.

The Bottom Line

You should wash your sheets once a week or, at the very least, every two weeks. Washing bedsheets might be a chore, but it feels so amazing once you sleep on, freshly washed bedding.
