At least according to Apple, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11 have very similar battery life. However, unlike the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 is the first sub$1000 iPhone that has an OLED display. Therefore, we decided to test both phones to see how much of a difference using Dark Mode would make given Dark Mode’s battery boosting effects on OLED screens.
Also, we included the iPhone 12 using Light Mode (aka regular mode) so you can see how much of a difference dark mode vs light mode makes on the iPhone 12.
TEST OBSERVATIONS:
We’ve found that the iPhone 11 series offers better standby performance than the iPhone 12 series across the board. Hopefully this will be resolved in a future software update.
Not all of the apps / uses in this test take advantage of dark mode, and this was by design to help provide a more realistic idea of how much dark mode can help battery life.
Dark mode is going to have a bigger impact on phones with larger screens (since the battery savings come directly from saving on screen power consumption).
Dark mode may also have a bigger impact on older OLED screens as the newer ones are generally more power efficient (for example, Apple claimed a 15% boost in efficiency from the iPhone XS to the iPhone 11).
TEST NOTES:
Screens were calibrated to 200 nits with autobrightness turned off.
Speakers calibrated to the same decibel count.
Tested within equal distance of a mini cell tower.
Tested in a temperature controlled environment.
All devices tested were new and had 100% battery health.

QLED vs OLED gaming test with PS4 Pro
Gaming test between the Samsung Q90r and the LG B8 OLED using a Playstatipn 4 Pro
Games tested are Call Of Duty WW2 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Both TV’s picture settings were factory reset and all tests were carried out in a home environment.

Samsung QLED vs Sony 4K LED TV Comparison (Upscaling, HDR, Game Mode)
We compare the picture quality of the Samsung Q80T QLED vs Sony XH95 (also marketed as the Bravia X950H in the USA) 4K LED TV in a sidebyside comparison. Aspects covered include local dimming, colour accuracy, motion, upscaling, screen uniformity, HDR, game mode, reflection handling and viewing angle.

Both 2020 TVs are 55 inches in screen size which retails for £1599 in the UK at launch, model number Samsung QE55Q80T and Sony KD55XH9505 respectively.
Note: From 7:22 to 8:11 during the HDR luminance heatmap comparison, the source footage exhibited greyer blacks and more shadow detail than the filmed footage of the televisions. This is because the source footage was captured in HDR10 PQ (perceptual quantisation) and then rendered in SDR for this video, not to mention our camera didn’t have enough dynamic range to capture all the shadow detail from the TV screens. In other words, the heatmap analysis is only valid for brightness above 100 nits owing to how it was conducted.
