Lately it seems like I keep dreaming about my ex.

Although I haven’t seen him in ages, he appears in my dreams several nights a week.

I had heard the old saying, “If you dream about someone, it means they miss you.”

Super confused about what was going on, I decided to get to the bottom of things and find out if dreaming about someone really means they are thinking about you.

What I discovered was, yes, dreaming about someone could mean that they miss you or that they are thinking of you.

But our dreams often say far more about us and our own deepest thoughts, feelings, fears, and desires than anyone else’s.

Read on to find out what it really means to dream about a person and how to tell if it’s because they miss you or not.

What does it mean when you dream about a person? Do you miss me? 5 signs to look out for

If only knowing what it means to dream about someone was an easy answer. But the truth is that dreams, by their very nature, can be very confusing.

There are scientific and psychological explanations, as well as more supernatural or spiritual answers. In this article we will look at a few.

To understand if your dream really means that the other person misses you, you need to try to interpret your dream to look for clues.

While the signs I mention below will give you a good idea of what your dreams mean, talking to a real psychic is even better.

The key is to find a psychic you trust.

I recently tried Psychic Source after going through a bad breakup. They gave me a unique insight into the direction of my life, including who to be with.

I was truly blown away by how caring, compassionate and knowledgeable they were.

If you dream about a person, you should pay attention to these 5 things:

1) Whether a real event is repeated in your dream

Everyone dreams while they sleep (in fact, many animals dream), but the truth is we don’t really know why.

Surprisingly, although there are many theories, there are still no concrete answers.

A fairly simple explanation for why we dream is the activation synthesis theory, which states that dreaming helps us process information from our lives.

Biologically, many circuits fire in your brain when you are in REM sleep (the dream state).

Certain areas of the brain involved in emotions, sensations, and memories are activated.

Our mind is essentially a meaning-making machine.

So if you notice that real life events or situations involving another person have been repeated in your dream, this could be the way your mind is trying to process and understand certain things that happened .

2) If you experience strong emotions during your dream

Sometimes it’s less about the who, what, or where of a dream and more about the feelings and emotions it evokes for you.

Since dreams are often not meant to be literal, it can be helpful to look for other hidden clues in the dream that can help you better understand why that particular person is appearing.

And whether it’s because they miss you, or maybe more because you miss them.

How do you feel about them in the dream?

Do you feel happy or do you remember a time that has now passed? Maybe you long to revive those times or simply to experience such moments of happiness again.

Or maybe you are feeling sad, scared or angry at her in your dream?

If so, you might be wondering if you have any feelings towards them that might resurface.

If this is someone with whom you had a romantic relationship or even a strong friendship that has since ended or drifted apart, it’s natural for us to have lingering emotions that may reappear in our dreams.

Sometimes our dreams are there to reflect and give voice to the things we are feeling.

You may not even be aware of these emotions — in fact, according to Sigmund Freud’s theory of dreams, they often represent what’s going on in our deep subconscious.

It may mean that there are strong feelings or thoughts buried somewhere in you about that particular person.

3) When you notice creepy coincidences that you can’t explain

So far we have looked at more psychological reasons why someone might appear in your dream.

But many people also believe that dreams are a gateway to a higher self and realm. And in many ancient cultures, dreams were considered spiritual guides.

Science can explain a lot, but new discoveries keep pushing the boundaries of what we once thought of as logical.

NEW QUIZ: Is He Your Soulmate? Our network of gifted psychics have created a quiz that will reveal (with incredible accuracy) if your husband really is “the one”. Take the quiz here.

Evidence of extrasensory perception (ESP) and connections in ways we don’t fully understand have been examined with some very interesting results.

Have you ever had the experience of thinking about someone and then having them call you right away? And you wouldn’t be alone, as is really common.

Is it coincidence or are you actually absorbing each other’s energy?

Or maybe you thought of someone on purpose and got them to reach out and they do. It’s almost like you telepathically made her miss you.

Well, you might be surprised to discover that a biologist has found something called morphic resonance – telepathic connections between organisms along with the ability to share collective memories.

That said, it might not be such a far-fetched idea after all that you can communicate with others in your dreams.

So if you keep noticing strange clues or coincidences in your life about this person, maybe that’s a sign from the universe that they’ve been thinking of you.

Maybe you keep seeing memories of that person wherever you go, you meet them unexpectedly, or they text you after you just dreamed about them.

If you would like more clarity on this, I would suggest speaking to a gifted consultant at Psychic Source.

I mentioned her earlier. They have helped me in the past and I have always found them honest and compassionate in their readings.

Instead of trying to decipher your dream yourself, talk to a counselor who will help you put the pieces together.

4) If their appearance in your dream seems completely random

If someone has been on your waking mind a lot and then appears in your dream that night, it may not seem so strange.

But what does it mean if someone randomly appears in your dream?

If you haven’t given her special thought beforehand, you might be able to psychically sense her feelings for you.

In this case, it might make more sense to assume that the energy is coming from them rather than you – and it’s a sign that they’re missing you, and you can feel it.

At the end of the day, we are all just a collection of vibrant energy coming together in physical forms.

And there’s a lot of energy around us that we can’t see or touch, but we can still feel it in other ways.

How can you tell if it’s them you’re missing or if you’re thinking about them?

If your dream about her didn’t bring up any strong emotions and seemed to come out of the blue, it may seem like it wasn’t your emotions or thoughts that caused the dream.

In this case, you may think that it is more likely that they have thought of you or will appear in your life.

5) When that person could actually represent something else

Because dreams are often ambiguous, sometimes we dream of a thing even though the real meaning is much deeper or something entirely different.

Our fears, desires, old traumas, and past hurts can resurface and begin to play out while we sleep.

According to contemporary dreaming theory, this is anything but random. Instead, the events that unfold are guided by the dreamer’s emotions.

As Professor Ernest Hartmann, director of the Boston Center for Sleep Disorders, explains in Scientific American:

“When there is a well-defined emotion, dreams are often very simple. Thus, people who have experienced trauma often have a dream like: “I was on the beach and was swept away by a tidal wave.” This case is paradigmatic. It is evident that the dreamer is not dreaming about the actual traumatic event, but instead is imagining the emotion, “I’m scared. I’m overwhelmed.” If the emotional state is less clear, or if multiple emotions or concerns are present at the same time, the dream becomes more complicated.”

If you interpret your dream instead of taking it at face value, you can reveal some hidden meanings that you hadn’t considered before.

What does it mean when you dream about someone repeatedly?

You have unresolved issues with them.

So if you are interested in finally moving beyond those dreams, maybe it is time to heal yourself from what happened in the past.

I have been in your position before and there was one thing that helped me to get to the root of the cause and resolve it – the free love and intimacy video by the world famous shaman Rudá Iandê.

Rudá doesn’t smooth things over, he gets real and he dives deep into the relationship you have with yourself and how this affects the relationships you have with others.

So if you are ready to finally understand and overcome these feelings and dreams, watch his incredible free video here.

Is it true that when you dream about someone, they dream about you?

The possibly surprising answer to this question is maybe.

As unlikely as it may sound, there are scientifically proven examples of people who have had the same dream.

The best recorded examples are from professionally trained therapists and their clients who shared the same dream at about the same time.

More anecdotally, many people have experienced dreaming about someone only to find out that their dream included you.

While it’s difficult to say what’s really going on, it at least makes it possible that when you’re dreaming about someone, maybe they’re dreaming about you.

What does it mean when you keep dreaming about someone you no longer speak to?

When you dream about someone are they thinking of you?

While dreaming about someone usually means they are thinking of you, dreaming of the same person over and over again could also mean that they have thought of you so much that when you dream about them, it’s just another instance where that thought enters your head.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

Sometimes we include products that we think will be useful to our readers. If you make a purchase through links on this site, we may receive a small commission. Read our affiliate disclosure.

Dreaming about someone is just a side effect of our brain’s natural defense mechanism designed to protect us.

You will not see the person you dream about in real life and this prevents your subconscious from focusing on negative emotions.

Essentially, when you dream about them, it makes your brain feel like they are with you, and that makes it more secure.

Want to know more about dreaming about someone and its meaning? Let’s dive in!

Is it a positive sign?

When you dream about someone you like, it means that you subconsciously wish for that person to be present in your life.

This is a good sign if you want him as a friend, partner or companion.

In addition, it means that you think positively about them and want them to be a part of your life in whatever way.

If you dream about a person and you see them in your dream but you cannot communicate with them, it means that you are feeling lonely.

Your subconscious is trying to fill the void in your life by having this person in your dreams.

This could work well because it is a sign that you need this person in your life. You just need to see if it manifests itself in other ways over time.

Another way to dream about someone is a positive sign if you are talking to them in your dream.

If you are arguing with the person you are dreaming about in your sleep, it means that you have been thinking about them recently and it is a sign that they are thinking about you too.

Some people also report that they know exactly what their subconscious is trying to tell them through their dreams, so when this happens look past the obvious interpretation and try to see what else is being said.

What if I dream about someone who doesn’t like me?

Needless to say, it’s uncomfortable to think about, let alone dream about, someone we don’t like.

However, it’s not as bad as you might think.

It is a sign that you want to start something new with this person.

These people often influence your life because of the past or what you thought of it as a couple.

This can tell you things like they will eventually move away, they may come back into your life, and so on.

Dreaming about a certain person is also a sign that you have been thinking about them lately and it is good that this person is thinking about you.

It’s a positive sign if the thought of her crosses your mind when you wake up.

Some people also tend to dream about the same people over and over again, so pay attention to how often this happens.

While it can mean a few different things, dreaming about someone a day after their death shows that they are still with you in spirit.

They are trying to guide you in some way, so it’s either a positive or a negative sign depending on how you interact with them in your dreams.

Does that mean they’re thinking of me?

While dreaming about someone usually means they are thinking about you, dreaming about the same person repeatedly could also mean that they have been thinking about you so much that if you dream about them, it’s just another case where this thought comes to your mind.

If you dream about them often, it could mean that they are thinking about you, but it’s really no different than if you were thinking about them often.

Do shared dreams with someone mean they’re thinking of you?

Yes and no, it depends on the dream.

If you are dreaming about this person but the scenario in your dream is nothing that happened or is not related to any emotional event or situation then he is random in your dream and he is not thinking about you.

If the dream is related to an emotional event or situation that happened between you and the person you are dreaming about, then there is a connection between your thoughts and their thoughts.

Your brain can pour that feeling of theirs into a dream because it’s been in your head lately.

What would a talented consultant say?

The ideas I share with you in this article will give you a good idea that someone you dream about is thinking of you.

But could you get even more clarity by speaking to a gifted advisor?

Of course you need to find someone you can trust. With so many fake experts out there, it’s important to have a pretty good BS detector.

After going through a messy breakup, I recently tried Psychic Source. They gave me the guidance I needed in life including who to be with.

I was really blown away by how kind, caring and genuinely helpful they were.

What if I have bad dreams about someone who annoys me?

A bad dream is a sign that something unresolved is happening with that person in your life.

It’s a sign that you need to work on building better relationships with them or solving a problem with them.

The problem could be that they don’t get along with you, ignore you, or intentionally do something that bothers you.

There are many different reasons why someone might be in your dreams and if the events in your dream are not related to anything emotional then it is just a coincidence.

Sometimes we dream of someone annoying us to protect us from our unconscious anger.

The brain will create that person where they are the problem and you are just a bystander because you don’t want to see that you are the problem.

If this has happened to you and the dreams are extreme in nature, pay attention to what is bothering them about you or causing this problem.

It is also important to note that having a bad dream about someone who is annoying you can also mean that you are training your subconscious to be positive about that person.

Also, if you had a positive interaction with them before or after the dream, then chances are it was just your subconscious preparing you for something good.

What if I dream about cheating on someone?

Cheating on someone in your dreams is a sign that you have doubts in real life.

It’s a sign that you feel disloyal to that person or think they are disloyal.

It can also mean that you have been unfaithful in the past and your brain is reminding you of it.

It could also mean that the person you are dreaming about is emotionally cheating in your relationship and you need to confront them about it.

If this dream happens once then it is probably just a coincidence and should be wiped away.

When it happens multiple times, it’s important to look at the why and how behind it.

To dream of cheating on someone could also mean that you have a dream image of yourself.

The reason for this is that dreams are usually symbolic and based on emotions that you have while you are awake.

What if I dream about my ex?

Dreaming about your ex or someone who is still in your life but not in your current relationship could be a sign that you want something new with that person.

It could also mean that you want to catch up on something that happened in the past or that you want to change something.

Some people also dream about their ex-boyfriends so they can come over and make up with them.

If you are dreaming about your ex, it means that he is still in your life no matter he is in a romantic relationship or not.

It also means that this person is on your mind because of something unresolved between the two of you.

If you are dreaming about your ex, it could be a sign that he thinks about you by default.

Sometimes when we think of someone while we are dreaming, they appear in our dreams.

It then has nothing to do with thinking about her, it’s just a coincidence.

However, if you keep having a recurring dream about your ex, then you should pay attention.

What if I keep dreaming the same dream?

Having the same dream over and over again is a sign of being stuck or not moving forward in life.

It can also mean that you are afraid of something that might happen in your life.

It could also refer to thinking about something a lot and it will disturb your sleep.

If this happens once or twice, there is no need to worry.

However, if it is happening more often, then it is imperative that you pay attention to the recurring dreams and what they mean for your life.

I have already mentioned how helpful the Psychic Source counselors have been when I have faced difficulties in life.

While we can learn a lot about a situation from articles like this, nothing quite compares to getting a personal reading from a gifted person.

From clarifying the situation to helping you make life-changing decisions, these counselors empower you to make decisions with confidence.

What if I can’t remember my dreams?

If you cannot remember your dreams, it means something is wrong in your life.

It could mean that you become so focused on your waking life that you can’t stop remembering your dreams.

It could also mean that something is going on in your life that is preventing you from getting proper sleep.

It’s important to pay attention to the quality of sleep and rest you’re getting.

When you’re exhausted from a stressful life, you need to find new ways to manage stress and sleep.

What if I dream about an ex who died?

If you dream about a deceased ex, it means that there is something unresolved in your relationship.

You probably haven’t processed your death, and the dreams are a way of dealing with the pain your death caused.

Maybe you need to talk about the relationship you had with them and how it ended, or it could be because there is something unresolved from years ago that is affecting your life today.

What if I dream about someone every night?

Have you ever wondered why this happens?

Dreaming about someone every night is a sign that you think about them a lot.

This can be an ex or someone you work with.

If this is a frequent occurrence, it’s important to talk to the person in your dreams and ask them why they keep popping into your mind and what you can do about it.

What if I’ve been dreaming of something specific for a while?

If you’ve been dreaming of something in particular for a long time, then there’s probably something afoot that’s preventing you from getting a good night’s sleep.

Pay attention to your dreams and find out what they are all about.

What if I had my first dream, but the next time I dream would it be like a sequel?

First dreams are usually the easiest to remember because they are the first dream we have and they are usually quite emotional or important.

However, the dreams you have afterward could be just as important and that is why it is important that you write them down in your journal or keep a dream journal.

All you have to do is keep it next to your bed so you can write in it first thing in the morning when you wake up and then you will have all your dreams in one place.

It’s also important that you write down your dreams throughout the day and not just at night before you go to sleep.

That way, as you read, you’re sure to get a clear picture of the potential meaning and how to apply the message to your life.

What are some red flags to look out for?

If you notice any of these signs in your dreams, it means that something is going on in your life that you should deal with.

It can mean that something positive is happening in your life, but it can also mean that there is also something negative.

If you have too many dreams, it means your mind is overloaded or something deep within is working.

It could mean that someone is trying to reach you with energy vibrations so that you remember them or their message.

Find out the message the universe wants you to know, or someone you’ve already crossed paths with.

For example, if you’re dreaming about the person you’ve been in love with for years and never managed to tell them how you feel, then that could be a sign that they’re thinking about you too and want to reconnect .

If this person is an ex, then it could be unresolved feelings between the two of you.

If you are dreaming about someone you still interact with but are not in a romantic relationship, it could mean that you are redefining your relationship soon.

Maybe there’s something you need to tell them or something they need to tell you.

You can tell if it’s a positive dream by how you feel in the morning.

If your mind is clear and refreshed, then this is a sign that the message was positive and everything is clear on your part.

You see many dead people or animals in your dreams

This could be a sign that you are very sad and need to talk to someone about your feelings.

It is also possible that you dreamed about these dead people because they recently died in real life or they reminded you of something.

Sometimes when we are dreaming we are subconsciously looking into the future and the direction we should take in life.

This can be good or bad, but it’s important to pay attention to each one and see if those mesmerizing dreams continue.

If you see animals in your dreams, it could be a sign that something is going on in your life that is making you feel lonely.

It could also mean that people want to scare you.

What if some characters or people are unknown in my dreams?

If you see characters or people in your dreams that you don’t know; It could mean that you are trying to find answers from the subconscious and you are getting closer to the solution.

It could also mean that something is bothering you and you need to work on figuring out who these characters are or what they represent.

Keep thinking about this problem in your life and the ways you can deal with it, or think about the mystery that is bothering you that you soon need to address and solve.

Final Thoughts

The bottom line is that dreams are the treasure trove that can help us discover something new about ourselves and our future.

Each dream you have can tell you something different, so think of it as a puzzle and put those pieces together carefully!

We can’t always know why some dreams come to our minds, but they never come without a good reason.

If you start dreaming about a person who means a lot to you, it may be because you are connected at the subconscious level and that person can guide you through the emotional rollercoaster called life.

Dreaming is a gift and you should enjoy every moment of it.

Hopefully you understand when someone is actually thinking about you while you are dreaming about them. But if you want a fully personal explanation of this situation and where it is taking you going forward, I recommend you speak to the folks at Psychic Source.

I mentioned her earlier. When I got a reading from them I was blown away by how kind and genuinely helpful they were.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

How do you know if your crush likes you? When you have a crush you get all dizzy and squishy with all the butterflies in your stomach. However, having a crush doesn’t manifest itself in a relationship with that person on its own. And before you try to pursue them, you need to make sure your crush feels the same about you as you do about them.

But how? Read on to learn the signs that your crush likes you.

26 signs your crush likes you

You can fall in love with someone at any point in life and the feelings are not in your control. You may want to know if your crush has feelings for you forming a relationship. Here are some signs that can help you figure out if your crush likes you.

1. They keep looking at you

If someone has a crush on you, there’s a pretty good chance they’re looking at you more than others. They might stare at you if they think you’re not noticing, and maybe even look away if you catch them. Such sneaky looks at you can indicate that they like you too.

2. They get anxious around you

We behave strangely when we are near our crush. If you notice a change in her body language, like nervousness or something as simple as smiling more often, she probably has feelings for you, too. Some other signs include playing with their hair, fidgeting, and fiddling when they talk to you.

3. They initiate eye contact

While eye contact seems to be a common courtesy for everyone during social interaction, you might notice a difference when someone who is interested in you makes eye contact. If you’re not sure if they’re being polite by making eye contact or if they’re having a crush on you, check in a group setting. If they pay more attention to you or look at you more often, it could indicate that they like you too.

4. They have casual physical contact

Handshakes, high fives, and hugs are common forms of physical contact between platonic friends. If your crush engages in physical contact more often and in other forms, such as B. patting you on the back encouragingly or holding your hand when you’re upset could indicate he has deeper feelings for you. Pay attention to these cases and see if they happen only to you or to others as well.

5. They change their body language around you

Body language shows your emotions. Notice if your crush immediately stands up straight when he sees you, or if he fixes his hair or clothes when you’re around. Another indicator that a person likes you is if they look directly at you when you interact with them, especially their feet. Other tried and tested signs include leaning in when they speak and mirroring your body language.

6. They try to sit near or next to you

If you notice that your crush is often right next to you or close to you in a group or work meeting, it could be a strong sign that he’s romantically interested in you. While friends do the same thing by default, you may find that your crush makes an extra effort to be around you.

7. They listen to you

While this trait does not in itself indicate or confirm romantic interest, it does apply when combined with other signs. Assuming your crush listens carefully to you, asks polite questions, and gives the appropriate emotional responses like laughter, surprise, or shock when you tell a story, then he probably has a crush on you. If they are enthusiastic about everything you say, it may indicate a higher level of interest in you.

8. They want to get to know you better

It could apply to many people, but when your crush shows a keen interest in getting to know you, it usually implies mutual romantic interest. They may want to know your favorite cuisine or movies, your favorite bands, or childhood memories so they can get to know you better. They might even ask you about your family or siblings if they are more serious about you. It’s likely that they see you as more than just a friend.

9. You try to form a picture of your plans and aspirations

While not every crush thinks about marriage right away, they may want to know your plans for the future. It can range from career aspirations to what you want out of a marriage or family, or something as casual as the pets you want or the places you want to visit. When the person you love asks about these things, they’re trying to gauge whether your plans align with theirs.

10. You can inquire about your relationships

A clear sign that your crush is interested in you is when they ask you or your mutual friends about your relationship status. If they’re too nervous to ask you or your friends directly, they might turn to social media to find out.

11. They often call or text you

Romance in the 21st century can take many forms. If physical contact is not possible, they can always reach you by phone. If you find yourself talking or texting your crush a lot, most days he initiates it, then they probably have a crush on you. An important distinction to make is the frequency and timing of these interactions — if the calls and texts are frequent and last late into the night or into the early morning, they’re likely seeing you as more than just a friend.

12. You are actively engaged in your social media posts

If your crush is often the first person to see your stories, like your pictures, or even comment something positive on anything you share, chances are they like you. A person’s social media can often be a window to a lot of content about them. A person who has a crush on you would often want to look at these to get to know you better and connect with you.

13. They respond immediately

Whether it’s a call, text, or even a forward, if your crush replies immediately, that’s a good sign they like you too. If they have a crush on you, they’re likely rereading your conversations or checking your social media in their free time so they can quickly respond to any calls or texts. This eagerness can often give away their true intentions towards you.

14. They get jealous when someone else flirts with you

While it may not be obvious, when someone else is flirting with you or you are flirting with someone else, watch for signs of jealousy in your crush. It could be a simple change in body language or facial expression, or they’re telling you that the other person isn’t a good match for you. If your crush is so caught up in your love life that they care about others who are trying to be with you, it could be a sign that they like you.

15. They ask your friends about you

Your close friends will always tell you when someone asks about you. If your crush likes you, they can ask your friends about your relationship status or your likes and dislikes. You can rely on mutual friends and sometimes even family members to find out these aspects about you. It’s a sign that they’re interested in you since they’re too nervous to ask you directly.

16. They often talk about you

If your crush likes you, it’s not uncommon for them to talk about you with their friends or mutual friends. It usually takes the form of compliments, so you’ll likely hear them from friends and acquaintances. It might even be intentional, hoping that those compliments will be passed on to you. Keep your ears open when you’re hanging out with mutual friends to know if your crush has been talking about you.

17. They find excuses to spend time alone with you

You might end up working out at your gym or just walking your dog when you do. If your crush seems to find excuses to hang out or be around you, that’s a sign that they’re attracted to you. It probably means they want to spend time alone with you.

18. They share secrets with you

One of the surest signs your crush likes you is that they’re comfortable confiding in you. This can be embarrassing stories, phobias, personal opinions, traumatic events, or even something they feel too shy to share with others. People generally don’t like to open up unless they feel comfortable and trust the person. If you’re the person your crush looks for when they want to share something, they might have feelings for you.

19. Your mutual friends behave differently when your crush is around

You’re often the last to know if your crush likes you. If you have mutual friends or coworkers, chances are they’ve noticed these signs, or your crush has shared their feelings for you with them. Regardless, they won’t behave the same way around you. They may find excuses to leave the two of you alone on group outings, make sure you sit close together, give subtle hints, or tease you like friends do. It usually means they know something you don’t — that your crush likes you.

20. They know your needs and want to help

Another indication of whether or not your crush likes you is their availability and willingness to help you. If your crush likes you, they will do their best to help you with something difficult, to be there for you during a difficult time, or even to help you cope with a complicated social, family, or work situation. If the help comes without your asking, it further shows that they like you. It means they have a good idea of your personality and your emotions, to know when you’re feeling uncomfortable or going through a rough patch, and know when to intervene.

21. They seek you out at social gatherings

If their eyes are on you at a mutual friend’s party, a work trip, or a social gathering and they spend most of their time with or around you, that’s a good sign that they like you. Chances are they planned it so that they can maximize the time you spend together.

22. They are always at their best around you

While your friends may not mind being around you in casual clothes, someone who has romantic feelings for you will make an effort to present themselves at their best. You may notice that they are well dressed, well groomed and want to impress you when you are around.

23. You remind her of positive things in her life

A sign that someone likes you is when you remind them of things they associate with positive emotions like humor, attraction, and happiness. If your crush frequently compares you to a celebrity, gives you funny nicknames, or says you remind him of a close friend, he probably likes you. It’s their way of complimenting you without admitting that they like you.

24. They trust you

Trust is an important factor, even if you like someone and aren’t committed yet. If your crush feels like they can open up to you about anything, they probably like you. It’s true when they tell you about things they don’t usually share with others, such as: B. Serious problems at home or at work or something they don’t share with others. If they trust you enough, that’s a sign that they’re attracted to you.

25. They flirt with you

Flirting is healthy if done in moderation. If your crush likes you, they will only flirt with you and no one else. It’s an indication of how they have exclusive feelings for you, and it’s not just a passing attraction. It can later become the foundation of a relationship.

26. They try to keep you happy

If your crush likes you, they don’t want to see you bored or sad. If you are having a bad day, they would try to cheer you up. If you find that they are making every effort to improve your mood, they may have feelings for you.

There are several ways to find out if your crush likes you or not. If their eyes are on you and they’re trying to make eye contact even in a crowd, they might be interested in you. If you find them anxious around you, listening carefully to what you are saying, or appreciating your plans and ideas, they may be thinking of you. See if they reply to your messages promptly, call you often, or are interested in joining you for parties and outings. However, you can only be sure if they confirm it, but until then, cherish those beautiful unspoken moments.

Important Tips To know if your crush likes you too, keep an eye on their behavior around you.

Getting nervous or acting differently around you, or taking a keen interest in your relationships with others could be some positive signs.

Trying to make you happy, getting jealous, and sharing secrets are a few more.

Why do I keep dreaming about my high school ex?

According to relationship expert Terri Orbuch, who spoke to Women’s Health, dreaming about an ex could mean that you’re looking for closure. Maybe you’re unsettled with the way things ended between the two of you, or maybe you’re still trying to work past the way your relationship ended in your mind.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

For most people, sleep is best, in part because it gives us a chance to relax and dream. But sometimes these dreams can be the source of great stress, especially if you are dreaming about someone you would rather forget. One minute you’re daydreaming about eating the best ice cream you’ve ever eaten, and then suddenly… your ex is there? What does it mean when you dream about your ex? It’s not always a sign that you subconsciously want to get back together.

Of course, it’s only natural to wonder about the reasons behind your dreams, and your curiosity is likely to double when someone unexpected shows up. But even if you’re happy in a new relationship (or feel like you’re super super about that old boyfriend or girlfriend in your waking hours), it’s not so strange if you see an ex or two in your dreams .

Dreaming about an ex is actually very common — and it may not mean what you think it does. If you’ve ever wondered why your brain keeps addressing a certain person when you’re asleep, one (or more) of these reasons could explain it.

1. You have unresolved feelings towards your ex.

Before you freak out too much about it, remember that these feelings don’t necessarily have to be romantic. According to relationship expert Terri Orbuch, who spoke to Women’s Health, dreaming about an ex could mean you’re looking for closure. Maybe you’re unsettled about how things ended between the two of you, or maybe you’re still trying to get over the end of your relationship in your mind.

2. You worry about being successful in a new relationship.

As Ally Mead — a psychic who has studied dream analysis — told the Huffington Post, there’s a good chance that if you dream about your ex when you start a new relationship with someone else, you’re likely to compare the two for effort to make sure it works this time. “When you start a relationship with someone new, your psyche may still be trying to sort out the pros and cons of your old relationship,” Mead said. “In this situation, your psyche is trying to ensure the success of your new relationship.”

3. It’s a symbol of a bigger problem.

“Most of the time, however, dreams are symbolic rather than literal,” Mead said. “Your feelings are probably best focused on healing everything that made you an ex in the first place.”

So when you dream about your ex, think about why your relationship ended and what you could have done differently. If it was your fault — and even if it wasn’t — sorting it out and preventing it from happening in future relationships could end those dreams.

4. You’re actually not over it.

While there are many reasons why you dream about your ex other than still having feelings for him or her, this is still an option. Maybe you need to take a deep look inside yourself and figure out if you really wish you could get back together… and then figure out what’s next.

5. It’s not about your ex, it’s about you.

According to Psychics Universe, there is a possibility that an ex in a dream represents a part of you. Maybe it means that you gave up too much of yourself and what you love in your past relationship and it’s time to get that back. Or maybe it means that you are neglecting yourself in some way. Either way, it doesn’t hurt to analyze your own behavior during the time you were with your ex and see if you need to make any major changes.

6. You are afraid that someone else will hurt you again.

Many people find it difficult to move on from an old relationship simply because it comes with the fear of being hurt the same way again — especially if your breakup was particularly brutal. It could have something to do with your ex-guest being the main character in your dreams. According to Exemplore, the dream could even be your way to realize that a new relationship is going down the same path. That could mean that you have to do whatever it takes to change the course of the relationship, or that you haven’t had full emotional closure.

7. The ex in your dream is actually you breaking up with yourself.

As you can probably already tell, ex-boyfriends appearing in dreams can symbolize all sorts of things. Exemplore says it might just be your mind’s way of telling you that you’re repressing another side of yourself — probably an opposite side of yourself — and that you need to get in touch with who you really are.

“If you interpret this type of dream as a sign that you should reconnect with your ex, not only will this issue remain unresolved, but it will also complicate the issue,” the website reads. “This dream gives you the message that you need to strengthen the relationship with yourself; do not distract yourself now by putting your energy into external relationships.”

8. You try to forgive them after a bad breakup.

If things didn’t turn out well between the two of you and there was never an opportunity for forgiveness, the dream could represent your brain’s ability to create that opportunity for you. According to Dreamstop, it could represent the fact that you need to make peace with your ex. Do you want the dreams to stop? Forgive your ex while you’re awake and conscious, and this might do the trick.

9. You miss parts of your life with them.

According to Dreammoods Dream Dictionary, seeing your ex in a dream could mean that you’re missing something in your old life with that person – and you want it back. However, that missing piece isn’t necessarily the person; It could be the place you lived, something you did together, or a place you visited a lot during that time in your life.

10. Something in your life makes you unhappy.

Dreammoods also adds that having an ex in your dream could be a symbol of something else in your life that is making you unhappy, something else that you need to “break” from in order to fully move on. If you know a fact is dragging you down, it may be a good idea to take steps to change it

Why do I dream of high school?

Emery explains the high school dream is so common because that’s the time when feeling less-than, self-conscious, or stressed is first introduced to us. Now that makes sense. I think most, if not all, of us had feelings like these during our teenage years.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

I woke up around midnight last night. I was a sweaty mess. My sheets were tangled between my legs as my heart pounded through my chest.

RELATED: Starting high school? How to prepare for your very first day

After opening my eyes, it took me a minute to realize that I was safe in my bedroom (oh my god, I love my bedroom) and that I wasn’t walking down the hallway of my high school naked. I didn’t try desperately to open my locker either, but couldn’t remember my combination. I really didn’t have a big test that I forgot to study for and I didn’t have a damn schedule (remember those?) to follow, but I couldn’t because I didn’t make the time remembered or location of my courses.

This dream regularly creeps into my sleepy mind. At school, why am I trying to get out of a situation that would never actually happen? Why the hell am I naked? Why can’t I dream about Bradley Cooper and chocolate fondue instead? Life is not fair.

If I ever forgot my locker combination or schedule in high school, I wouldn’t have stressed at all. I would have asked for help or just decided to call it quits and skip class, probably the latter.

I started paying attention to these dreams and noticed something: They only happen when I’m stressed or going through a major life transition. And I’m not the only one. Being back in high school is a recurring stress dream for many of us.

There’s a reason you have visions in your head while you sleep like you’re cramming for a test or can’t find your locker, and all fingers point to stress, anxiety, or something you should be doing for yourself but aren’t ‘t. Self-care plays a big part in keeping us healthy, especially when our schedules are getting full and we’re constantly fumbling about things we want to do for ourselves.

Berkeley-based dream expert Dr. Marcia Emery explains that our dreams are a good indicator that something is wrong in our lives and we should pay attention: “Their function is to make you ask what you are afraid of, what is unfinished, where You are feeling unprepared. You are a wake up call. There is something unresolved, usually an unresolved emotional issue.”

Walking around naked around my high school peers certainly gets my attention. It’s no fun trying to cover your female parts with books and binders while trying to find your biology classroom and worrying about having to dissect a frog in the buff.

I can’t help but wonder why my dreams keep throwing me back to my school days. I graduated 24 years ago, any stress I had during this turbulent time is long gone and I don’t feel like it interferes with my everyday life.

Emery explains that the high school dream is so prevalent because that’s the time when we first feel less than, confident, or stressed. That makes sense now. I think most if not all of us had such feelings during our teenage years.

Once we hit our 30s, 40s, and 50s, we may also experience the reminiscence spurt, which means we can remember things that happened in early adulthood or our teenage years better than ever. Strange I know.

So later in life, when we have that feeling, our mind takes us back to the time we first felt it, although we don’t think, wow, this new job makes me feel like I’m on the day I forgot my gym shorts in eighth grade.

The experiences we have in life, both good and bad, play a big part in who we become and how we deal with trauma and stressful situations as we age. It makes sense that past experiences float to the surface, even if we don’t consciously think about them in our waking hours. Events and lessons are implanted in our brains and stay with us, sometimes revisiting us while we sleep. (Kind of creepy, right?)

Our minds never switch off, even when we really want to. Who wouldn’t rather get a good night’s sleep than trying to remember their high school locker combo while everyone stares at their bare ass? But a closer look at research can benefit us all.

If our dreams are telling us we’re trying to fool ourselves, or shoving something important under the rug by having us roam ancient hallways with nothing but a trapper keeper to cover our genitals, we should take the clue and letting things go so we can fulfill other desires, like pursuing hobbies, playing sports, or getting rid of electronics when we’re not working.

A delicious eight hours (or a brad and chocolate situation) depends on it.

Why do I have recurring dreams about high school?

School dreams are common because they evoke a developmental experience most of us have had. They are recurrent since our current day-to-day stresses will summon similar, formative emotions embedded in our subconscious.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

Written for Daily Hive by Mo Amir, Host and Producer of the Podcast This is VANCOLOUR, based in Vancouver.

you know the dream

You’re back in high school (or is it college?). You suddenly realize that you’ve missed a class for the whole semester. Maybe you didn’t even know you were enrolled in the class. No matter how it happened, it’s exam day now.

Also, you were late for school. Or you can’t even find the class. Or you can’t find your locker or remember the locker combination.

To top it off, you’re in your pajamas. Maybe you’re just wearing your underwear.

There are many iterations of this anxiety dream that take place at school, the central place of our childhood.

You’re not alone. It’s a shared nightmare that expresses our deepest fears, not just about school when we’re young, but about life as we age: failure, life-altering embarrassment, absolute unpreparedness, last hope of rescue fading faster the more desperately we crawl.

Another mini-episode about dreams! i call dr Joti Samra (@drjotisamra) to find out about my recurring school dreams (nightmares!) that many of us have too! Listen to our call👇

According to dream polls, this school dream is among the top 5 recurring dreams, even among adults who haven’t been to school in decades.

But why is this nightmare so common among us? Why does this dream repeat itself so frequently for everyone who experiences it, even if the years spent out of school far outweigh the years spent in school? Why high school?

“It’s a really common dream that I think a lot of people can relate to having time at least sometimes, if not all the time,” explains Joti Samra, founder of Dr. Joti Samra R. Psych. & Associates and CEO of MyWorkplaceHealth.com. “It’s a very familiar dream.”

“Most of what we know about dreams comes from the PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) literature. So we know that one of the hallmarks of post-traumatic stress is that people often have very vivid and intense dreams or nightmares.”

For many of us, school during our formative years can be compared to a (much milder) form of trauma. As our brains develop, school deadlines and exams represent the first major stressor in our lives.

“In fact, when we look at children, school-related anxiety is one of the most common and largest manifestations when we look at the anxiety that arises first, apart from other traumatic things happening in their environment.”

This school stress, especially in connection with exams, is completely normal.

However, as the first and formative stress in our lives, this stress effectively leaves an imprint on our subconscious and creates an association between fear and school. “It imprints itself in our neural pathways.”

The worst-case scenario (and therefore the most stressful factor) of an exam is to be completely unprepared, as if you had never attended the course and then wrote an exam for it. In fact, this shared nightmare is the worst manifestation of our school-related stress.

Since we all experienced school in relatively the same way, this formative stress then manifests itself as a shared nightmare. As a result, this dream is a cultural hallmark.

The frequency of this dream is also related to our association between stress and school. like dr Samra explains that anxiety affects both the vividness and frequency of dreams.

So when we go to bed stressed, that stress—even if it’s for something else entirely—can trigger the formative school stress that imprints itself in our brains and expresses itself in dreams. “When things happen together, we can fast forward years later and the presence of one can still evoke the other.”

That’s why, decades later, we keep having nightmares about school and despite our rational knowledge that we’re not even in school anymore.

“Whatever has been deeply imprinted in our neural pathways gets rewound and repeated and reappears again and again.”

Therefore, dreams are less about the content and more about the emotional feeling. “Contrary to our opinion, it is not always the topic that actually scares us. It’s just a generalized anxiety triggering something familiar in our brains.”

Because of this, school dreams can actually benefit our mental health.

“What we’ve learned is that the brain can start to anticipate other stressors. So when we get (stress) in our head in our nightly dream, it kind of helps us process what happened and prepare for that feeling again.”

The evolutionary rationale for these types of recurring anxiety dreams is that they can make us more emotionally resilient when we are experiencing stress. “The theory is that dreams allow us to … get used to the idea that something bad is going to happen, but it will happen when we’re safe (i.e., sleeping). We know that when we expose ourselves to repeated emotions, intense emotions, that process over time dilutes the intensity of that emotion.”

So don’t worry, says Dr. Samra.

School dreams are common because they evoke a developmental experience that most of us have had. They keep recurring as our current day-to-day stresses evoke similar, formative emotions embedded in our subconscious. And they are more relevant to our current emotions than any lingering feeling about school itself.

Ultimately, these nightmares are helpful.

“Our brain and body are doing their job. When we are stressed during the day or dealing with stressors, we can process that emotion at night. And processing our emotions is a very good thing for our mental health.”

What does it mean when you dream about your crush liking another girl?

If you dreamed about your crush being with someone else, it may be a reflection of real-life feelings of abandonment and feeling like you don’t stack up against other people that your crush might potentially date.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

Are your recurring dreams of your crush reflections of your waking life or something more?

Sometimes we dream about our crushes just because we think about them all day. In other cases, they can also have a hidden meaning.

Read on to discover some of the most common crush dreams and what they might reveal about your subconscious.

You and your crush kissed

When you dream that you and your crush are kissing, it usually means that you have thought a lot about what it would be like to be with them and you wish that you both could be together. On the other hand, it can also mean becoming more aware of who you are and more accepting of who that is. They are eager for a relationship – but not necessarily ready for it. Take stock before you move.

(Aladdin via Buena Vista Pictures)

Your crush asked you out

If you had a dream about your crush asking you out, chances are you have a positive self-image and you are projecting that into your dream life. When you’re feeling good, you get the feeling that your crush might be interested, too. Your brain is preparing you mentally for the occasion, so it might be time to let that person know how you feel about them.

Your crush called you ‘Bro’

A dream in which your crush called you “brother” or some other name that suggests they see you as one of the boys and means you are afraid that your crush sees you purely as a friend. They don’t want to think that you’ll never be more than friends — but you won’t know for sure until you find out how they really feel about you.

Your crush has died

If your crush died in a dream, you’re probably feeling a little traumatized by the whole experience — but the meaning isn’t as bad as it might sound. Often, a death in a dream is your subconscious’s way of telling you that it’s time to let that person go. The crush you have on her could end. It can be a bittersweet moment, but it can be time to move on.

Your crush found out that you like him

If you have dreamed about your crush found out that you like them, it usually symbolizes change. The fact that your crush discovered your feelings could mean that you are turning a page in your life. You might also learn something new about yourself. While it may also reflect your own concerns about discovering your true feelings for her, it is more indicative of transitions and uncovering truths about life.

(Riverdale via The CW)

Your crush ignored you

If your crush often doesn’t pay attention to you in real life, a dream about them ignoring you is simply a reflection of that. However, it can also mean that you are ignoring something about yourself. It could be a sign that you need to look inward to see if there is an aspect of your life that needs more attention. With that in mind, try to embark on a path of self-improvement in this area. Your crush might even notice.

your crush likes you

If you have had a dream about your crush liking you too, it is often a reflection of a change in your own attitude. There may be aspects of your crush that you admire and you may have learned from them and tried to emulate these behaviors in yourself. If your confidence is high, it might be a good time to make your move and make your feelings about her known.

Your crush sent you a message

If you have a dream that your crush sent you a message, it can either mean that you feel close to them or that you have been longingly waiting for a message from them. Sometimes the messages you receive in a dream are something your subconscious is trying to communicate to you and not something you think your crush would actually tell you. It is a good idea to follow any advice or guidance given to you in these dreams.

(SpongeBob SquarePants via Nickelodeon)

Your crush rejected you

Being rejected by your crush in a dream usually means you don’t feel safe about yourself and the way people see you. These dreams usually occur when you have no idea how your crush feels about you in return. If in your waking life you think there is no chance that they are interested in you, you may be reliving these dreams over and over again. It can also be your subconscious rehearsal if reality ever materializes. Eventually, you might get used to the idea and build up the courage to actually ask it.

Your crush was with someone else

If you had a dream about your crush being with someone else, it may be a reflection of real feelings of abandonment and feeling like you don’t measure up to other people your crush might be dating. This dream can result from a suspicion that they are more interested in someone else than you, but more often than not it is the result of the insecurity that is overwhelming you.

#69 Dreams about High School Crush : Meaning & Interpretation

If you dream about your high school crush, you might get pensive. They are usually a symbol of wanting something in your waking life. In most cases, it could have something to do with your current relationship or relationship status.

Often the changes in your relationship can also trigger this dream. You can feel happy or sad in your dream, it depends on how the dream is going.

Why you dream of high school crush

There are various reasons why you dream about your high school crush and they are as follows:

Your current love life is uncomfortable

You might be having this dream because you are fantasizing about certain things that you would like to have in your romantic life.

You may feel that your relationship is not making you happy. You have this feeling of longing and wishing things were different in your relationship.

Perhaps there is a lack of passion and spice and you and your partner no longer feel that burning desire for each other. Maybe it’s time to take a break or seek advice to bring the spice back.

You’re deep in romantic fiction

The dream could also happen because you want to experience the romantic fiction you have seen in movies and read in books.

You live in a world of your own where love is unrealistic and the things you expect are all unrealistic. It might be time for you to separate romantic fact from fiction or you risk being severely disappointed.

Being lost in this unrealistic world of impossible romance could also lead you to be manipulated by someone who wants to take advantage of you.

The dream could be a warning for you to see things as they are and not to be blinded by your romantic notions.

Unresolved past issues affecting your relationship

Also, the dream could happen because you have some unresolved issues in the past that are affecting your relationship.

You may have some unfinished business in the past that are keeping you from enjoying your current relationship or committing to taking it one step further.

This reason could affect your happiness in your current relationship. It could be wounds from a past relationship or some uncomfortable things that happened in your relationship that didn’t want to happen or were your fault.

The dream could be a sign for you to move beyond the past and focus on the good things in your relationship.

Change to another level

Having this dream could also mean that you are finally making new relationship commitments in your life. You finally make peace with yourself and your past and you are finally ready to cross the threshold to take another step in life.

Your current relationship is going so well and your partner almost proposes to you or you both feel the need to take it to another level. This is especially the case when your high school crush says goodbye to you.

Shared dreams about your high school crush

There are shared dreams about high school crushes and their interpretations and they are as follows:

Your high school crush is asking you out

If you are having this dream that your high school crush is asking you out, it could be that you are feeling positive about yourself because the people important in your life are finally seeing your worth.

You feel great and do everything with great confidence, including the way you love your current partner.

You have improved tremendously which is why you dream that your high school crush is finally interested in you.

Your high school crush died

This dream may make you very sad but it is not as bad as you think. Death in this dream could be your subconscious way of telling you that it is time to let the person go.

You may think too much about that old crush and how you’ve never met anyone like him in the years of your relationship.

Maybe it’s time to let her go from your heart and give someone else a chance. The crush might also finally end, it might be a bittersweet moment for you.

Your high school crush found out that you like her.

This dream is an indication that a big change is taking place. Your old crush finally discovering your feelings means your life is changing and new truths are being uncovered.

They could be old truths that could change your life for better or worse. Either way, your life will change with big transitions that you should be prepared for. These changes could be related to something in your past.

Your high school crush ignored you

This dream about your old crush never paying attention to you could be an indication that there is a part of your past that you are not paying attention to.

What 10 Common Dreams About Crushes Really Mean

You finally pluck up the courage to tell your crush that you like them. And great news: you feel the same way. You lean in for the kiss, but then… phew! you wake up in bed Alone. If this sounds familiar, you’re in good company—fantasies about your romantic interest while you sleep are common. But what does it mean when you dream about your crush?

Short answer: It probably means that something related to said crush is in the foreground. “We tend to dream about what worries us the most,” says certified dream analyst Lauri Loewenberg. “Dreaming about your crush is perfectly normal and often the subconscious explores the possibilities.”

These dreams aren’t necessarily just about the person you’re actively developing a crush on, she adds. You might meet a former sweetheart, a celebrity crush, or an unknown lover in dreamland – the scenarios vary (as with all dreams). These nighttime experiences can also take a more sinister turn when you dream about your crush dying or being rejected by your loved one. Whatever’s going on in your head while you’re napping, your dream is telling you something—here’s how to decipher it, according to a dream expert.

What it means when you have a dream about your true current crush

Let’s start with the basics, what does it mean when you dream about someone you like? Not surprisingly, according to Loewenberg, dreaming about your current crush is a way for your psyche to fulfill that desire in real life. If you think about your boo all day, it makes sense that you dream about it too. And if you find yourself having these dreams all the time, it could be a signal that you want to express your true feelings to them and your subconscious is telling you to just do it already.

This type of dream also allows you to explore the possibility of that relationship more than you can in waking life, she adds. According to Loewenberg, dreams can give you insights into your feelings. So rehashing what happened while you were sleeping might help you understand your emotions at sunrise.

What it means when you dream that your crush has died

Less a dream than a nightmare, this one could signal exactly what it sounds like: the end of a crush. “Death in a dream means that something is changing or is over in real life,” explains Loewenberg. “Are your feelings towards this person changing? Has this person changed? Your subconscious may even be warning you that this person is not a good match for you.” Depending on how you answer these questions, your subconscious may have already provided the solution: move on.

What it means when you dream about an old crush

So what does it mean when you dream about someone you used to like? Digging up the past in dreamland might indicate that something happening in your real life is evoking previous experiences, Loewenberg says. This could literally be related to your ex crush: maybe you’re dating someone who reminds you of them, for example.

These dreams can also occur when you encounter a situation or pattern of behavior that reminds you of the past, she points out. Pay attention to what elements are mimicking your real life to understand what your subconscious might be telling you. These insights could help you identify helpful or harmful dynamics in your current relationships.

What it means when you dream that someone has a crush on you

According to Loewenberg, if you dream of someone liking you, it could be your subconscious emphasizing your favorite personal qualities. When your crush compliments you, chances are you feel that way about yourself. How’s that for a sweet dream?

Other times, it’s best to take these fantasies literally. Loewenberg says dreams like this are often your intuition communicating with you. If you dream that someone has a crush on you and you get butterflies, chances are you have a crush on them. Or if you dream that someone likes you but you don’t like them back, it means that you are not excited about the new opportunity.

What it means when you dream about being rejected by your crush

Better this happening while you’re snoozing than in real life, right? These types of dreams could also be your intuition at work, according to Loewenberg. “It could be your intuition letting you know that this might not work and preparing you for it,” she tells Bustle. But all is not lost. She recommends asking yourself if this dream is actually just a manifestation of your own insecurity and not a sign that your crush doesn’t feel it.

What it means when you dream that your crush likes you

On the other hand, maybe your intuition is telling you that you have a chance with your crush. According to Loewenberg, dreaming of your romantic interest reciprocating your feelings can represent your confidence and optimism that things might work out. So if you’ve been waiting to take your shot, consider this the sign you’ve been waiting for.

What it means when you dream about a celebrity crush

If you dream about Chris Hemsworth, no one can blame you. While this dream might just tell you about your crush on a celebrity, it can mean something deeper, says Loewenberg. Depending on who you dream of, it can be a sign that you identify with or are attracted to the celebrity and want to impersonate yourself, she explains. Maybe you love the humor of Dan Levy or the talent of Lupita Nyong’o. Either way, it could mean you want to incorporate those traits into your own life (or maybe just marry Chris Hemsworth after all).

What it means when you dream about having a crush on a stranger

Although it may seem strange to have a hot dream about a stranger, it’s actually your subconscious that’s emphasizing parts of your personality that you don’t fully recognize, says Loewenberg.

In general, she says developing a crush on an unfamiliar man in a dream is representative of stereotypical male traits such as assertiveness. Finding a liking to an unfamiliar woman typically represents traditionally feminine energy, like being creative and attuned to those around you. When this happens in a dream, it is a signal that you are beginning to acknowledge and appreciate these parts of yourself.

What it means when you dream that you have a crush on a different gender than you are usually attracted to

So if you dream that you have a crush on a girl, does it mean you are secretly gay or vice versa? Eh, not so much, says Loewenberg. These dreams are not so much representative of your sexuality as more revealing certain qualities that attract you in general. According to Loewenberg, women typically represent sensitivity, intuition, and creativity, while men typically symbolize courage and drive.

This can mean looking for these qualities in a partner or appreciating them in yourself. “So if a woman dreams of having a crush in a dream or being strongly attracted to another woman, it would likely mean she’s proud of a creative or kind part of herself,” she says.

What it means when you dream that you have a crush on someone you don’t actually like

Ugh, have you ever had something like this and woken up and had to take a shower? According to Loewenberg, that doesn’t necessarily mean you secretly harbor feelings for her. “You may not like this person, but there’s something about the subconscious that likes them,” she tells Bustle. “Ask yourself what is striking about this person. Of the things you have chosen, at least one is something your subconscious admires.”
