Should I be concerned or just drive normally. car runs fine. Oil poured into the lower cylinder and the compression didn’t increase much, if at all. Is this normal, could it be a valve or injector seal?

Compression test kit

^^^^^ That.

Still in stock Turbo? Run Eth? Estimated power level of your tune? Looks like the engine is on its way out. Running a mellower tune can help extend its lifespan.

Definitely sounds like rings and/or ring lands in that cylinder with oil on the candle. Maybe PCV? If I were you, I’d do a leakdown next – it’ll tell you a lot more at this point.

engine compression test… help!

Engine Compression Test… Help!

Hello, everyone

I am a new user of this site and would like to ask a question about a Mazda3 compression test.

I am very interested in buying a Mazda3 2007, engine 1600cc. This was made in Japan, so it’s not an American version.

A few days ago I tested the compression for each of the cylinders. The reading for the four cylinders was around 150-152 psi.

After that we went to test a Toyota Corolla 2007, engine 1600cc. The results were higher, reading 190 psi for the four cylinders.

The mechanic said that the Mazda3’s engine compression is really low and that it should be around 200-250psi. Also, he said that Corolla One is so much better since it’s taller than the Mazda.

My questions go here: Is the result of 150psi bad compression? How much does it have to be for this car? Corolla’s engines are better than Mazda’s? I’ve done some research but I can’t really get a really good answer.

The guy selling the car says they provide good maintenance and that he hasn’t had any mechanical problems with the car.

I would really appreciate your help!

Hope you can give me some answers…
