With the latest update to version 2.0 for Genshin Impact, the developers have integrated miHoYo cross-save functions for players who want to transfer their save progress from PC/mobile to PlayStation and vice versa. That means you can play Genshin Impact on your home console and on the go. Unfortunately, fans were disappointed to learn that if they had already started Genshin Impact on their PlayStation consoles, they would not be able to use the cross-save feature. Once a Genshin Impact account was created on PlayStation, it was seemingly impossible to delete that progress. Well, thanks to Reddit user u/iaminmyhouse, we’ve found that this is no longer an issue. You just have to follow a very specific guide to unlink your PlayStation account in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact How to Unlink PlayStation Account
Send an email to [email protected] with the subject “Unlink PSN Account”. This MUST be your subject line to receive the auto reply. Make it clear in the body of the email that you are making a request to unlink your PSN account. Something like “Hello! I’m sending an email for a request to unlink a Genshin Impact PSN account” is working. Wait for email reply. If you don’t receive the email within 10 minutes, send another email using a different email account. The reason I am suggesting this step is because I originally sent an email through my personal email account to which I have not received a reply. I sent the same email from a different account and received an automated response to unlink my account within a minute. Keep trying! Go through the link sent to you by Genshin Impact Support and provide the information they are asked for in order to unlink accounts. You will need to provide information such as your PSN Account ID, PSN Genshin Account UID, Adventure Rank, any purchases made on PSN, 5-star characters acquired, weapon ownership, etc. Make sure you do this if you have access to all of this information, otherwise you will not be able to proceed with the unlinking. Wait for your Genshin Impact PSN account to be unlinked. It is unknown how long this process will take, but we expect Genshin Impact Support will email you once the process is complete. How to save your game in Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact gets straight to the point and uses an auto-save feature. This is because the game is permanently connected to online servers. Since you are in this persistent world with other players, the game ensures that your progress is recorded whenever something happens.
This was likely implemented due to the game’s “gacha” mechanic for unlocking characters. Characters that you obtain and unlock throughout the game are randomized, so this saving method prevents players from re-rolling.
Can you save your game manually?
The short answer is no, you can’t. There is no option to manually save your game to prevent players from saving before unlocking a character and then exiting their save and loading to reroll that character if they don’t get the one they want.
That being said, you don’t have to worry about losing your progress in Genshin Impact just because you can’t manually save the game yourself.
The game always saves and records your progress as it is a live game that is permanently connected to the servers. So when you’re ready to complete Genshin Impact, just exit the game and your progress will be recorded.

You only need one method, even only one username and password to play Genshin Impact. However, if you are afraid of losing your password, it helps to link as many methods as possible.

Create from your account
It doesn’t matter which method you use to create your account initially, so don’t be afraid to use username, mobile phone, email or anything else. Just create an account and play through part of the intro until you can open the menu.
If you create an account and have concerns about using that email/twitter account, don’t worry, you can link another method and unlink most account methods. So if you enter an email and want to use a different one, don’t leave the account, just change the link. However, you cannot change the username.
Link or unlink Genshin Impact accounts
Note that you cannot link a method to 2 accounts: you must first log into the linked account, add a second linking option to that account, and then unlink the mobile/email/google/etc. cancel accounts. Usernames cannot be unlinked.
To change your account associations, go to the Paimon menu, the icon at the top left of the main interface:
Next, go to the Settings menu via the gear icon:
Now open the user center:

Linking options for Genshin Impact accounts
Here are all the methods to link and protect your Genshin Impact account. Note that any third-party account/email address/etc. can only be linked to one account. So if you create an account using one of these methods and then try to link a new account to that old third-party account, you won’t be able to.
There isn’t much benefit to linking more than one account type, it just helps you retain access to your account if you forget your password. You need to verify your account (password, email, text) to link a new method, but once linked, you only need to provide a set of credentials to log in on any device.
username
A default username and password is the easiest way to set up your Genshin Impact account, but forgetting your password can be a problem. If you’re using a username, I recommend linking at least one of the other methods below as well.
Note that your username is neither your user ID (the “friend code” you add people to in-game) nor your character name (which can be changed at any time). It doesn’t have to be memorable or relevant to other people, it’s just for logging into Genshin Impact.
I would recommend linking at least one email in case you forget your Genshin Impact password. You will need to enter your email address and will receive a verification code in your inbox when you link an email. Unlike the username, you can’t lose it nearly as easily unless you’re one of those totally insane people who create separate emails for each service without storing the password in a password manager. Every modern browser has a password manager, please use this one.

You can link your mobile number instead of an account code, like an email that sends you a code (via text) to enter. Again, unlike username/password, it’s hard to lose, but if you switch phones without porting the number, you could be in trouble.
Game Center, Apple ID, Google
I STRONGLY recommend that you don’t bother linking Google or Apple accounts. They are responsible for almost all problems people have and cannot be used on other platforms. You are useless. Immediately add a second method to your account if you have already done so.
From an iOS device, you can link your Game Center and/or Apple ID account. These can only be linked on iOS. You don’t need to link your Game Center to play on iOS, it’s just a different way to sign in and one that doesn’t work on PC. Note that linking mobile accounts will not prevent you from playing on PC. You just can’t use this account if you sign in via PC. You need to add a non-Apple/Google account link to sign in on the PC. I strongly recommend email or username instead.
Likewise, Google accounts can only be linked and only used on Android.
Note that if you also want to play on PC, you will need to link another account method to play your account on PC. It’s ok if you already created the account with Apple ID/Game Center/Google, just add a second type of login. If you’ve already linked another method, there’s no reason to link a mobile-only account unless you’re concerned about losing access to all of your non-mobile account options.
“I can’t access the mobile account on PC”
Please read the section above. When I see this, people 100% use their Android/iOS account to sign in on mobile (don’t do that) and then use email to sign in on PC and it doesn’t work .
This is because the email itself is treated differently than a Google/iOS account. Since Google/iOS accounts don’t work on PC, you created a second account on PC with your email instead.
You can use the same email address as your Google/Gamecenter account as the email account, but it will still be treated as a different account. If you use this email on PC without linking it to your mobile account as an email, it will not work.
Either remove your email address from the PC account (add a username/password, then unlink the email) or add a username/password or other email address to mobile account, then log in with that username/password/email address on PC and your account will be there.
Again, never use Android/iOS accounts for Genshin. It’s not a permanent bug, but it’s the cause of over 90% of account confusion. Your account will NOT be lost, you just need to FIRST add a link to your existing account and THEN log into PC using that link.
PS4 accounts
PS4 accounts can now use cloud saves like everyone else starting with Genshin Impact version 2.0, more details on the official blog.
Can I play on PC?
Your character can switch between PC, Playstation and Android/iOS at any time, you can easily play on both platforms without reinstalling, rebooting, “transferring” saves, etc. You just log in to the same account.
You just need to link any account method except Google/Apple/Game Center. Use one username, email, Twitter, Facebook, or mobile phone number, then simply log in to both devices with accounts linked to the same character.
Should I use Bluestacks to play on PC?
My goodness no!! I’ve seen this question several times, Genshin Impact has a native PC version that works a dozen times better than emulated Android, please download the native version instead. It will work over 10x better.
Sign out of Genshin Impact
This is another slightly confusing one; There are two buttons on the title screen that ask if you want to log out. The one on the left with the “Power” symbol closes the game. The one on the right with the “go through a door” icon is the log out button.
Click the right button to log out of an account, to switch accounts, or if you created an account by mistake and want to use different credentials. You don’t need to sign out to sign in on another device, just to change the account on your current device.
