What’s better Vimto or Ribena?

Ribena is good, but Vimto is better. It’s older, wiser, understated and perfectly proportioned. And there is less squashing of blackberries involved. Stick it in your glass, and drink it.

Wikipedia

It’s an ancient battle.

The old, faithful Ribena full of black currants… against the actually even older Vimto. Yes, it turns out that Vimto has been filling supermarket (or probably small grocery store) shelves since 1908. This means that it is already a step ahead of Ribena, which only appeared on the scene in 1938. WIN for Vimto.

What’s in the name?

Then of course the name. Ribena is named after the Latin word for black currant. A language spoken only by the dead, lawmen, and people who were forced to learn it because the dead and lawmen said so.

Vimto, on the other hand, is named after the word “vim” which means “energy or power”. Actually, it was originally called Vim Tonic, but the “nic” bit soon disappeared and VIMTO was born. It works for me anyway. No dead. no law Just super cool. Vimto wins AGAIN.

What’s in the drink?

Ribena = blackcurrants.

Well actually, more precisely: water, sugar, black currants, vitamin C, citric acid, preservatives and colorings. Basically, it’s all about looking and tasting like blackcurrants. Unless, of course, you get the orange or strawberry versions, but why should you? You are just wrong.

Vimto = water, sugar, grape, blackcurrant and raspberry juice, citric acid, “Vimto aroma” (extracts from fruits, herbs, barley malt and spices), colouring, acidity regulator and preservative.

So Vimto has a secret recipe, as does my other favorite, the Colonel and their delicious KFC burgers. Must be another win for Vimto.

Do you see where I’m going with this?

Hot or cold?

I admit that Ribena has the advantage of being served hot. Brings back memories of Saturday work as a 15 year old, sitting with my hands around a steaming mug of Ribena on a winter morning, with a side of 10p Chomp Bar.

Vimto, on the other hand, is best served cold. Wonderful, chilled to within an inch of life, cold. I like to keep my bottle of Vimto in the fridge and then serve it with chilled water. No ice cubes, don’t dilute the Vimto size (beyond that, it’s recommended on the bottle anyway).

So I think it’s a draw. Ribena wins the winter. Vimto brings summer joy.

Bring on the bubbles

Vimto also exists in bubbly two liter size bottles.

Enough said.

Where’s the consistency?

Ribena is really thick and sticky. To get in you also have to rip off a little gold ring pull thingy AFTER spending ages twisting the cap and sometimes peeling off gold foil. It’s all just a trick to make you think it’s something special. It is not. It’s tedious and time-consuming, and it lines your throat with blackcurrant fur.

Vimto on the other hand: simple, easy to pour, no effort required. And you can get it in huge 3 liter bottles (which will last around a week in this house if you’re lucky).

Easy to access, easy to pour, easy to drink. Vimto is the clear purple-pink winner.

So there you have it. Ribena is good, but Vimto is better. It’s older, wiser, more understated, and perfectly proportioned. And fewer blackberries are crushed.

Put it in your glass and drink it.

What does Vimto stand for?

VIMTO. Various Ingredients Mixed Together Ostentatiously.

Do you dilute Vimto?

In each glass that you are serving to, add some frozen raspberries before dropping in a sprig of fresh mint. If you don’t want to dilute the Vimto with more water (from the ice), simply chill it in the fridge for 30-40 minutes before serving.

Wikipedia

There are only a limited number of times you can say “just water for me, thanks” when the waiter takes your drink order before you get bored. Water is a healthy and safe bet, sure. In fact, it can’t be beat. So what do you do when you want more options but don’t want to stray from the healthy side of things? Luckily, there are actually several drinks that can do you a favor or two while pampering your soggy taste buds.

1. Pomegranate Juice

Image: © Nitr/Fotolia.com

The powerful pomegranate has been lauded for the powerful antioxidants it contains. Research has found that red juice may help prevent inflammation, heart disease, and cancer. So it’s a good choice to have a glass every now and then. Just be careful what you drink as some bottles are diluted with other liquids or have added sugar. You want pure pomegranate. Don’t accept less.

2. Low-fat milk

Image: © Africa Studio/Fotolia.com

Milk has always been there for you, right? Touted since childhood as an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D, it may seem less like an adult beverage than other options, but low-fat and skim milk are still great sources of protein and other essential micronutrients. And these low-fat varieties are your best bet because they contain far less saturated fat than reduced-fat or whole milk.

3. Green Tea

Image: © efired – Fotolia.com

A cup of green tea is a better choice than a cup of joe when the afternoon slump hits. You crave a caffeine hit, so this will do the trick, with just enough caffeine to give you that boost of energy but not so much that you crash later. And you get a nice side of antioxidants with every cup, too.

4. Orange Juice

Image: © Brent Hofacker/Fotolia.com

A glass of freshly squeezed orange juice really hits the spot, but some find it takes too much effort to make on a regular basis. If that’s the case, save it when it’s most practical, such as during allergy season. Seasonal allergies have been shown to be relieved with both vitamin C and quercetin (a form of flavonol found in certain fruits and vegetables), both of which are found in freshly squeezed orange juice.

5. Beet juice

Image: © Printemps/Fotolia.com

Get ready to hear the beets’ intimidating resume. Beets have the ability to lower your blood pressure, increase endurance, increase blood flow to the brain in older adults (slowing the progression of dementia), and with their zero trans and saturated fats and high magnesium and calcium content for a healthy liver to worry, and iron levels.

The only disadvantage? Beetroot juice is a little hard to find in most grocery stores, so you may need to make it at home or order it from a juice bar.

6. Hot Chocolate

Image: © olyina/Fotolia.com

Yes, cocoa has a place on this list. How could that be? Well, if it wasn’t for your least favorite monthly friend, he might not have made it. But when you’re dealing with menstrual cramps, one of the best natural ways to relieve the pain is by drinking beverages high in magnesium.

To get this magnesium, you need to make your own homemade hot chocolate using raw cocoa powder (not that powdered stuff). If you need to sweeten it up a bit, try almond milk and honey or a little maple syrup.

7. Kale Juice

Image: © ckellyphoto/Fotolia.com

Kale, kale, kale. Everyone loves kale. It might seem annoyingly trendy, but there are legitimate reasons so many people are in love with this stuff. The dark leafy green is packed with vitamins and minerals that help with everything from bone health to regulating your gut.

And drinking your veggies is a great way to get multiple servings in one drink. Just avoid buying bottles, as these varieties tend to be quite high in sodium. It might not be a bad idea to invest in a juicer and start making kale juice and other vegetable juices at home.

8. Lemon Juice

Image: © Andrzej Tokarski/Fotolia.com

Yes, you read it right. Not lemonade, lemon juice. You should drink lemon juice. That’s awesome, isn’t it? Well, it certainly takes care of gross things for us like cleansing the liver, stimulating bile production, and aiding in digestion. Lemon also brings vitamin C to the party to boost your immune system.

But nobody would make you drink it alone. Promise. Squeeze one half into a cool glass of water in the morning to get your day off to a good start.

And yes, this healthy drink includes water, but water is really being used as a mixer here. So it still deserves a spot on this list.

9. Ginger Tea

Image: © olyina/Fotolia.com

Ginger is an excellent natural remedy for any stomach ailment. It has been advertised as relieving an upset stomach, relieving motion sickness and pregnancy-related nausea, and easing digestion.

If this sounds like something you might enjoy, brew a cup of fresh ginger tea yourself by steeping a thin slice or two of fresh ginger root in a cup of hot water. Scoop in a little honey if the resulting concoction turns out to be on the spicy side.

10. Cranberry Juice

Image: © bit24/Fotolia.com

Nobody likes a UTI. And once you have one, it can take up to 2 days after starting treatment for your symptoms to go away. So let’s get on the proactive side of things and help prevent UTIs by drinking pure cranberry juice, which one study says “can fight infection and bacteria within 8 hours of consumption.” ”

Cranberry juice cocktail was used in this study because it is the most popular cranberry drink. But you can get the same benefits from pure cranberry juice and should prefer it to a cranberry juice cocktail. Why? One is loaded with added sugar. The other doesn’t. Tip: the one with sugar is the one with a cocktail in the name.

Looking for healthy drinks besides water? Here are tips for choosing low-calorie drinks

When it comes to staying hydrated, flushing out toxins, and maintaining healthy organs, water is unbeatable. But what if your child doesn’t like drinking plain water and wants more options for their 8-ounce cup of liquid per day?

Here are 8 drinks besides water that contain no artificial or sugary ingredients and are both easy to make at home and inexpensive.

8 healthy drinks besides water

Unless you and your child have allergies or are otherwise advised against, these beverages are both safe and healthy to consume. They may also be good for people with diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, and safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

1. Green Tea

Green tea is one of the healthiest beverages as it is rich in polyphenols and natural antioxidants that can slow aging and protect cells from toxins and carcinogens. Antioxidants may help protect against heart disease by relaxing blood vessels and reducing the risk of blood clots, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes.

Green tea also contains fluoride, which strengthens teeth, and flavonoids, which strengthen bones. These reduce the risk of tooth decay and osteoporosis.

2. Peppermint tea

Mint is an antispasmodic, meaning it can help relax muscles and relieve stiffness and pain. It also aids in digestion by promoting the movement of food through the digestive tract.

Mint has a cooling effect, so it’s great to drink to combat the heat. You can drink it cold mixed with freshly squeezed lemon juice during the hot summer months.

3. Black coffee

Black coffee is another healthy option when consumed in moderation. If you drink it in the morning, it offers protection against heart disease and dementia.

4. Fat-free milk

Milk contains components of a healthy meal, including carbohydrates, protein and some fat. It therefore helps stabilize blood sugar and reduce cravings.

Milk is also rich in calcium and contains vitamin D. Calcium helps burn fat cells and vitamin D helps in maximum calcium absorption. However, make sure you don’t have a milk allergy.

5. Soy milk or almond milk

Soy milk is a great alternative if you’re vegan or want to skip cow’s milk. High in fiber and protein, it helps lower bad cholesterol and triglycerides and reduces the risk of heart disease. You can also buy fortified soy milk, which is fortified with calcium, vitamin A, and vitamin D.

However, keep in mind that soy contains phytoestrogens, which are thought to be linked to an increased risk of breast cancer. Women are therefore advised to consult a doctor as to whether soy products are recommended, especially if there is a family history or history of breast cancer.

Almond milk is high in protein and extremely low in calories. It’s also a good source of vitamins E and D. The fortified versions contain other vitamins and minerals, making it even more nutritious.

6. Hot Chocolate

Sugar-free chocolate milk can be healthy when consumed in moderation. Cacao increases the production of serotonin, which helps regulate mood and reduce the risk of depression. Cacao is also rich in polyphenols, which are natural antioxidants.

Hot chocolate can be prepared by adding a spoonful of cocoa powder to non-fat cow’s milk, soy milk, almond milk, oat milk, etc.

7. Orange or lemon juice

Freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice is an excellent source of vitamin C. It’s a powerful antioxidant that may protect against a variety of diseases, reduce the risk of cancer, boost immunity, improve digestion, and improve skin tone. Drink freshly squeezed juices rather than packaged ones, which in many cases contain preservatives and added sugar.

8. Homemade smoothies

Homemade smoothies can be made by blending fresh fruits, vegetables, greens, and nuts. They contain tons of nutrients and can be very filling.

Is Vimto sugar-free?

13 soft drinks from the best to the worst

We’ve ranked 13 popular beverages from best to worst based on their nutritional value — particularly sugar and fat. Read on to quench your thirst the heart-healthy way.

1. water

Hydrating, inexpensive and sugar-free, water is the best choice to drink throughout the day. If you want to give it some flavor without adding sugar, try ice cubes and fresh mint or cucumber strips.

2. Tea or coffee without sugar

Although some people think that the caffeine in tea and coffee might be bad for their health, most people don’t. In fact, drinking moderate amounts (4-5 cups per day) of tea or coffee has been linked to benefits for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

Adding 5g teaspoons of sugar to 5 cups of tea or coffee yields the same as 20 rich tea biscuits or three Mars bars

Some people are more sensitive to caffeine than others and find that it can be accompanied by palpitations. In this case, it pays to limit the amount you drink, or you can try a decaffeinated version or alternative such as herbal teas (no added sugar or honey). Children and adolescents are also likely to be more sensitive to the effects of caffeine. Pregnant women are advised to limit the amount of caffeine to 200 milligrams (mg) per day. That’s about the equivalent of two cups of instant coffee.

Remember that adding milk and cream adds fat and calories. If you like your drink with milk, use low-fat milk – semi-skimmed, 1%, or skimmed.

Get our expert’s opinion on how much caffeine is too much.

3. Sugar-free drinks e.g. sugar-free cola, sugar-free lemonade and pumpkin with no added sugar

These drinks contain artificial sweeteners that provide a sweet taste but don’t affect blood sugar levels, which is good for people with diabetes. Since they are almost calorie-free, they also reduce the energy content of the drink compared to sugary variants. However, it is still unclear whether this leads to weight loss or whether people consciously or unconsciously make up for the energy difference by eating more.

And even sugar-free sodas are still acidic (due to the carbonation), which can damage your teeth.

Are Artificial Sweeteners Better Than Sugar? Get our expert’s opinion.

4. Fruit Juice (150ml)

Stick to 150ml and a glass of pure, unsweetened juice can count as one of your 5 a day. Note, however, that while fruit juice contains vitamins, it also contains free sugar — 2-3 tsp in a small glass. A small 150ml glass of orange juice contains the equivalent of three oranges but without the fiber that would help you feel full if you ate them whole.

Note that while fruit juice contains vitamins, it also contains free sugar

Note that you shouldn’t drink grapefruit juice if you’re taking calcium channel blockers (such as nifedipine, diltiazem, and verapamil) or simvastatin, a type of statin. If you’re taking atorvastatin, another statin, you can drink grapefruit juice, but not in large quantities (more than 1.2 liters per day — for comparison, most large cartons of grapefruit juice hold 1 liter). If you are taking another type of statin, grapefruit is not considered a problem.

5. Tea/coffee with added sugar

Drinking tea and coffee can have health benefits, but taking your tea or coffee with sugar, honey, or syrup can add up. Adding 5g teaspoons of sugar to 5 cups of tea or coffee throughout the day adds 100 calories or 700kcal throughout the week – the same amount of energy as 20 rich tea biscuits or three Mars bars. It’s less than in a sugar-sweetened soft drink, but if you cut out the sugar in your tea and coffee, it could help you shed about 10 pounds over a year.

Try reducing in increments of ¼ teaspoon at a time until you get used to the taste. Once you make the change, you’ll be amazed at how your taste buds adapt.

6. Fruit juice drink with added sugar

Fruit juice is already sweet, but fruit juice drinks usually contain sugar as well. Before deciding on a juice, take a look at the ingredients list to see if sugar has been added. The term “juice drink” is often an indication that sugar has been added, while “pure juice” means no sugar has been added.

Before deciding on a juice, take a look at the ingredients list to see if sugar has been added

Drinks made from tropical fruit juices (such as mango or lychee) or drinks made from cranberries, raspberries or cherries should often be looked out for. If you like these drinks, look for versions with no added sugar, but remember they still contain fruit juice and therefore sugar.

Explore our infographic to learn how to spot sugar on an ingredient list.

7. Pumpkin with added sugar

Diluting a small amount of squash with water can seem pretty harmless, but in fact a squash or liqueur with sugar contains about 3 teaspoons of sugar per glass.

Don’t be fooled by claims like “lots of juice”—these can still be high in sugar. Variants with no added sugar would be a better choice – and they should also cost you less than sugar-sweetened versions after the levy on sugar-sweetened drinks was introduced.

8. Fizzy Lemonade, Fizzy Orange, and Ginger Beer (standard versions with sugar)

Fruit-flavored fizzy drinks like lemonade and orange soda are slightly better choices than cola, but not ideal as a regular drink. The combination of sugar and acid can damage your teeth, and over time, excess calories from a high-sugar diet can lead to weight gain.

This is the sugar content in a standard 330ml can:

Ginger beer – 16 g sugar

Fizzy Orange – 15g sugar

Lemonade – 14 g sugar

Sugar-free versions of all of these drinks are a better option (see sugar-free drinks above) and sugar content varies between brands, so check nutrition information if you choose the sugar-added option.

Watch our animation to discover how brushing your teeth can help your heart.

9. Tonic water

Tonic water may sound harmless, but like other fizzy drinks and mixed drinks, it can be high in sugar unless you choose “slimline” or “diet” versions. A standard serving of tonic water is often smaller, which may mean you’re drinking less sugar per serving, but for the same serving size, it’s comparable to other sugary sodas (7.4g of sugar per 150ml can).

Quinine has been found to interact with some medications and has been linked to irregular heart rhythms

Tonic water gets its bitter taste from quinine. This has been found to interact with some medications, including digoxin and warfarin, and has also been linked to irregular heart rhythms when prescribed as a drug.

Dry ginger ale has a similar sugar content with 7.2 g sugar per 150 ml can.

10. Cola

A can of regular cola contains seven teaspoons of sugar (35 g). So if you drink this regularly, it’s bad news for your waistline and teeth. Choose a sugar-free cola instead, or better yet, switch to water or unsweetened tea or coffee.

Explore our infographic to find out how much sugar is in different foods.

11. Energy drinks

Energy drinks come at a price premium due to their added ingredients like taurine and guarana, as well as caffeine.

While marketing suggests that these drinks give you more energy, there are no accepted claims that consuming foods and drinks supplemented with these ingredients can help reduce fatigue, improve endurance, increase energy metabolism support or act as an antioxidant. In fact, the energy in energy drinks comes mostly from sugar.

In fact, the energy in energy drinks comes mostly from sugar

Moderate intake of caffeine shouldn’t be a problem for your heart health, but some people, especially children, are more sensitive to its effects than others. Energy drinks are also not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and children. In March 2018, UK supermarkets decided to stop selling to children under the age of 16.

If you’re drinking these types of beverages to fuel yourself for a workout session, be aware that the sugars they contain can cause you to consume more calories than you burn, which is a disadvantage if you try , To lose weight.

“Zero” or “diet” versions of energy drinks are also available, which use sweeteners instead of sugar, making them a better choice in terms of calories. However, if you regularly rely on these drinks for a pick-me-up, it might be better to address the reasons why you’re feeling low on energy.

12. Hot chocolate or flavored coffee with whipped cream

Whether it’s chocolate or flavored coffees like hazelnut or salted caramel, the sugary ingredients and whole milk and cream make these indulgent beverages high in calories and saturated fat. For example, a large caramel-flavored coffee blend can contain 450 calories — that’s three times more than a can of Coke.

Many cafes now offer “iced” versions of these drinks, but remember these are no less fat and calorie-dense.

While these drinks are unlikely to ever be a healthy option, you can ask for changes to reduce calories, saturated fats, and sugar. Ask for drinks with skim milk and sugar-free syrups, and avoid marshmallows on top. Keep whipped cream on top for the occasional treat, and ask for a small amount instead of the regular portion.

When you get home, make a heart-healthy hot chocolate by blending unsweetened cocoa powder with hot skim milk and low-calorie sweetener if needed.

13. Ice cream milkshakes and freak shakes

While there’s not much to choose between this category and the last category, ice cream milkshakes come off the worst on our list thanks to the combination of sugar and fat.

Freak shakes can contain over 1,000 calories – more than half of what you need for a full day

A regular ice cream milkshake may have twice the calories of a similar sized whole sugar Coke, but if you opt for extras like chocolate or cookies, the calories get even higher.

Even regular milkshakes without ice are high in sugar — some pack 10 teaspoons of sugar in a single bottle.

Even worse are “freakshakes” – a trend that started a few years ago and hasn’t gone away yet. These over-the-top creations of ice cream milkshake layered with cake, whipped cream, and additional decorations like chocolate or candy can contain over 1,000 calories — more than half of what you need for a full day.

A glass of Vimto

Vimto is a soft drink first sold in Lancashire, UK. It was first made as a health tonic in liqueur form, then decades later as a fizzy drink. It contains the juice of grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants (in a concentration of 3%), flavored with herbs and spices. The original recipe was invented by John Noel Nichols in 1908. Nichols grew up in the Scottish town of Shortridge.

Vimto has also been made into a candy (manufactured under license from McCowan’s) and a popsicle. It is available in cans and bottles, and as a soft drink on tap in pubs.

history [edit]

Vimto was founded in Manchester[1] in 1908 by John Noel Nichols (1883–1966), a wholesaler of herbs, spices and medicines. He saw the soft drink market opening up due to the temperance movement and the passage of the 1908 License Act. It was originally sold under the name Vim Tonic, which Nichols shortened to “Vimto” in 1912. Vimto was originally registered as a health tonic or medicine, which was then re-registered as a liquor in 1913. In 1910 production moved to a warehouse in Chapel Street, Salford, then to Old Trafford in 1927 and finally to a state of the art facility in Wythenshawe, Manchester in 1971.

From the 1990s to 2003, Vimto print ads used the cartoon character Purple Ronnie along with slightly rude poetry by Purple Ronnie creator Giles Andreae. In 2003, Purple Ronnie was discontinued and embarked on a new creative direction centered around the benefits of “Shlurpling the Purple”. This in turn led to the 2006 launch of Billy and his Dad’s Pants – a modern morality tale in which Billy, despite showing up at the pool with his father’s pants in the middle of his rolled-up towel, wins with ingenuity and humor. The theme song, “Dad’s Pants,” became something of a cult classic [citation needed] and was based on the Loudon Wainwright III song “Dead Skunk.” An oak sculpture entitled “A Monument to Vimto” was created by Kerry Morrison and installed on Granby Row – the site of the original Vimto site – in central Manchester in 1992. The statue was restored and repainted in 2011.

manufacture [edit]

Vimto is currently manufactured by Refresco[6] (formerly Cott Corporation) in both Leicestershire and Yorkshire on behalf of Vimto Soft Drinks, a division of Nichols plc, in Golborne.[7] Vimto is also manufactured under license in Saudi Arabia in the city of Dammam, Yemen, Gambia and Ghana. A 2007 Sunday Times article claimed it was the most popular drink during the holy month of Ramadan in some Arab countries.[8]

The drink was also launched in the UK in 1996 by A.G. Barr manufactured under license.

In 2014, Vimto Fizzy’s recipe was changed to include the artificial sweeteners acesulfame potassium and sucralose.

Ellis Wilkinson Mineral Water facilitated the creation of beverages for Vimto in the early days of the trade.

Company [edit]

Cabana, a subsidiary of Nichols plc, is the company’s distribution arm and operates through a UK network of distributors, most of whom are independent. In Scotland and Sussex the distributor is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cabana (Scotland – Cariel and Sussex – Beacon Drinks now closed). Vimto is currently available in 65 countries and the number of countries where it is sold is growing.[9]

Variations [edit]

Vimto 12 oz (340 g) can

A bottle version

Both a still, dilutable version (‘Vimto Cordial’) and a carbonated pre-mixed version (‘Fizzy Vimto’) are available in the UK. While Vimto originated in Northern England, it can now be found both nationally and internationally. The liqueur version is more commonly sold and is available in concentrated and ready-to-drink varieties. The savory version was widely known for being suitable for vegans until April 2021 when Vimto decided to add vitamin D from sheep’s wool.

Vimto is also available in a slush variety alongside many other Vimto confections such as Vimto Bars, Lollipops, Rip Rolls, Candy Sprays and Jelly Babies.

Vimto also comes in a summery flavor that includes ingredients like orange and apple, both of which are savory products. Vimto was the fastest growing soft drink brand in the UK by value (as measured by Nielsen Corporation) in 2006.[citation needed]

An alcoholic cocktail known as Cheeky Vimto or “Crazy Vimto” is also drunk in the UK. However, Vimto is not part of this drink and the name comes from its resemblance to the original product; Instead, it includes Port and Blue WKD. There is also a variation of this cocktail called “Dirty Vimto” that substitutes buckfast tonic wine for port.

Vimto is also often made as a hot drink, simply by adding boiling water to the concentrate,[10] and is popular in this form throughout northern England. Vimto is often prepared with hot water, especially during the winter months. As a warming drink against the winter cold, spectators also take it to sporting events in thermos flasks.

Various variants of Vimto with alternative flavors have been introduced over the years; Cherry and strawberry flavored variants known as “Cherry Vimto” and “Strawberry Vimto” became part of the range. In 2016 a new variant, “Vimto Remix”, was introduced. This range consists of various alternative flavor blends launched each year – mango, strawberry and pineapple in 2016, raspberry, orange and passion fruit in 2017, watermelon, strawberry and peach in 2018 and strawberry, orange and lime in 2019. The “Remix” name was eventually dropped after the drink was rebranded in 2021, while new flavor mixes continue to be introduced.

Homemade variations include a Vimto milkshake, made by adding milk to the liquor instead of water, and a Vimto milkshake special, which features the same with vanilla ice cream.

Foreign markets[ edit ]

In the Arabian Peninsula, Vimto has been the drink of choice for the Iftar, or sunset festival, during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan for over 80 years. As of 2013, Aujan, the local bottler in Saudi Arabia, produces over 20 million bottles per year for the GCC market.[11] An article in the Sunday Times mentioned that around 15 million bottles were sold during the month-long 2007 season.[12]

In Saudi Arabia, Vimto is manufactured under license by Aujan Industrial Company and has a 90% market share in the non-alcoholic concentrated beverage market.[13] Every year, the company launches aggressive marketing campaigns on Arabic satellite TV channels, which have become very popular in recent years, gaining cult status with viral marketing videos being shared on the internet.

Vimto was introduced in The Gambia and Senegal in the 1980s, where it remains popular.[14]

In 2011, Vimto was again widely rolled out across the Republic of Ireland through Tesco and the local version of Icelandic stores. [citation required]

In Pakistan, Vimto is manufactured under license by Mehran Bottlers.[15]

In Nepal, Vimto is licensed by Himganga Beverage Pvt Ltd. manufactured.

In Ghana, Vimto is licensed by Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Ltd. manufactured.[16]
