drilling low water pick up on a outboard
As Too Stroked said you can’t just drill the holes in the front of the gear case, there are no walk throughs to the water pump. There is one thing you can try, that is you can plug the top holes on the side of the gear case, 2 or 3 on each side so it doesn’t suck air. You can either fill them with epoxy or drill and tap the holes so you can drive a socket head cap screw into the hole. If you really need low water intake you will need to add a nose cone to the existing unit.
