How do I compare followers to following?

To calculate your follower to following ratio, divide the number of accounts that follow you by the number of accounts you follow. For example, if you have 10,000 followers and follow 1,000 accounts, your follow ratio is 10 (or 10:1, if you want to use a true ratio).

How to see mutual followers on Instagram?

Follower-to-following ratio is the number of followers an account has in relation to the number of accounts they follow on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram.

This is also referred to as the “follow ratio” or in the eyes of some as the “Instagram cool ratio”.

Your follower rate is more of a vanity metric than a really useful social media metric like engagement rate.

How to Calculate Follower-to-Following Ratio

What is a good follower to follow benchmark?

What your follow rate says about you

It’s believed that your follow rate gives people a quick idea of how “cool” your account is.

This is because popular accounts tend to have many more accounts following them than vice versa.

Let’s take Justin Bieber’s Instagram as an extreme case. The Biebs has over 145 million followers, but he only follows about 450 accounts. This shows that people are much more interested in following him than he is in following other people.

Compare this to a “normal” Instagram account that has around 1,000 accounts and 150 followers. If you take a quick look at this account, you can see that they probably consume more content than they create.

Your follower rate is also a general indicator of:

how popular your content is

how picky you are with your followers

how likely you are to follow back

However, some accounts use manipulative tactics like following you to get them to follow you and then unfollowing you to improve their relationship. As such, the follow ratio is not always a reliable metric.

How to Calculate Follower-to-Following Ratio

To calculate your follower-to-following ratio, divide the number of accounts that follow you by the number of accounts that you follow.

Follow ratio = number of followers ÷ number of accounts followed

For example, if you have 10,000 followers and 1,000 accounts are following, your follow ratio will be 10 (or 10:1 if you want to use a real ratio).

If you have 1,000 followers and 2,000 accounts are following, your follow ratio is 0.5 (or 1:2).

If Bieber has 145 million followers and is following 450 accounts, his follow rate in Bieber’s case is a whopping 322,222.

A follow ratio of 1 means you follow the same number of accounts that follow you.

A follow ratio above 1 means you have more accounts following you and a follow ratio below 1 means you are following more accounts than you have followers.

What is a good follower to follow benchmark?

Because there are different approaches to how picky people are about following other accounts, there isn’t a standard follow rate benchmark to aim for.

However, when evaluating a brand’s follow rate, you can use these general benchmarks to get an idea of account quality:

< 0.5 = Spam : Brands that follow twice as many accounts as accounts that follow them are likely trying to gain followers through follow-back schemes : Brands that follow twice as many accounts as accounts that follow them are likely trying to gain followers through follow-back schemes. 0.5-1 = Low Quality: This ratio doesn't scream spam, but it also doesn't indicate a must-follow account This ratio doesn't scream spam, but it doesn't indicate a must-follow account either. 1:2 = Average: A slightly positive follow ratio indicates a new but growing account A slightly positive follow ratio indicates a new but growing account. 2:10 = Quality: An account in this range has proven worth following An account in this section has proven to be worth a follow 10:300,000+ = Influencer: An account in this section easily gains new followers and has a huge impact on their social media sphere Related articles: How do I calculate follower growth rate? How to know if someone has blocked you on Instagram

Getting the obvious out of the way, here are some cases where an Instagram account might not block you:

If you look at the person’s profile, it says “User not found” at the bottom and also “No posts yet”, but you can still see their profile picture and the number of posts they have.

If you search for their username, the search bar will show that you are following them.

If you don’t see their name, they’re following a mutual friend if you’re searching on a different account.

1. Search for their username in the app

The very first and most obvious measure to find out if someone has blocked you on Instagram is a simple search. Search for their name or Instagram handle in the app. If the person who blocked you has a public account, you should be able to see their username in the search bar as you type it.

Screenshot: Herby Jasmine/Gotechtor

If you can see the profile picture with the number of posts, followers and followers, there is no need to worry. But if their profile shows an empty photo grid with the error message “No posts yet,” they’ve blocked you.

However, if the person who blocked you on Instagram has a private account, their name will not even appear in the search bar. Therefore, you don’t even have the opportunity to find their profile. But that’s not the end, there is something you can do about it. Read on to find out.

2. Search for their username on a computer

Screenshot: Herby Jasmine/Gotechtor

Go to this link Instagram.com/username on a computer. Don’t forget to replace the word “username” with the actual Instagram handle. If you get an error page that says “Sorry, this page is unavailable,” most likely that person has blocked you.

3. Check from another account

Now you want to make sure that the person has blocked you. Create a new Instagram account or use someone else’s and repeat steps 1 and 2 from above. If the other account can access their profile and photos, the person has blocked you.

However, if your friend’s account can’t see the profile account of the person who blocked you, there may be something wrong with their account. It can be disabled or deleted.

4. Find them by tagged photos

Another easy way to find out who blocked you on Instagram is with tagged photos. If the person who blocked you was tagged in someone else’s photos, you can use tags to find them. That’s how it works.

It’s time to do a little searching here. Look at the photos of your mutual friends to see if that person is in one of their photos. If they do, they’ll likely get tagged. Tap on their tags to go to their profile. If you can’t see their profile and photos, that person has blocked you.

If you couldn’t find a photo with this person tagged, look for their comments or mentions. View your mutual friend’s photos and find comments or mentions of the person who blocked you.

Tap on their name to go directly to their profile. You should be able to see their pictures without any problems, but if you don’t, they’ve probably blocked you or disabled their Instagram account.

6. Check old Instagram messages

Screenshot: Herby Jasmine/Gotechtor

Go to Instagram Direct Messages and find a conversation you had with the person you suspected blocked you. You can either tap their profile picture in the conversation thread or their profile name at the top.

If the person’s account quickly displays a “User not found” error message. Also, if you can’t see their followers and their follower count, they have surely blocked you.

While you’re there, next to the last line that says “Followed By,” tap on any of the Mutual Friends that pop up. It takes you to a page with the person’s mutual friends, followers, and followers list. Tap on either the “Followers” or “Following” tab. You’ll get a “Could not load users” error message, indicating that the person has definitely blocked you.

While you’re in the conversation thread, it’s worth pointing out that you can’t send a message if someone blocked you on Instagram. Sure, your messages will be sent, but they’ll never be received. Instagram video call doesn’t work either. It fails every time you try to video call the person who blocked you.

7. Follow that person again

An easy way to tell if someone has blocked you on Instagram is to unfollow that person. When you tap the Follow button, nothing happens. No matter how many times you tap the Follow button, it doesn’t show that you’re following the person. Also, if their account is private, it won’t show that a follow request was sent to that person.

Wrap up

Now that you know someone blocked you on Instagram, what’s next? You do nothing. You carry on with your normal life. Honestly, it might hit you hard, but dust yourself off because life doesn’t stop there.

What you can do going forward is devote more time to the people you care about and forget about the ones you don’t value.

Click Add Account. You can purchase past reports by clicking this option. Or wait until the specified date to get a new report. View accounts’ likes, followers, etc.

After adding an account, you will receive weekly reports. As mentioned above, you have the option to purchase past reports. But you can also view previous reports going back to when you added the account for free.

Snoopreport will give you the date when the next report will be available. All you have to do is click on any of the added accounts and view the data at the top. Here you can see when the next report is available.

Does snoop report work?

Based on our testing in 2021, Snoopreport provided important details that we would not have known without the service. We tracked multiple accounts and were quite impressed with the amount of detailed information we received. Let’s break it down.

What does Snoopreport show?

Snoopreport gave us Liked Users, Liked Accounts, Hashtag Interactions, and Favorite Users. It also gave us a glimpse of how interactive accounts were with other Instagram users. Take NASA for example.

Instagram shows us that Nasa posts fairly frequently. The site has over 64 million followers, but it only follows 73 other accounts. Instagram also tells us which users we follow together. In this example, we can see that Miley Cyrus, The Rock, and one of our personal friends are also following Nasa.

Well, the difference between what Instagram shows us and what Snoopreport shows us is the private activity of the account. For example, if we want to know if another user is likely to follow us back, we can see which accounts our target profile has followed.

If we manage a similar Instagram account, we can see what hashtags and accounts Nasa has interacted with. This will help us build our own similar accounts while learning about our competition.

Overall, we were quite impressed with the information Snoopreport provided.

Is snoopreport accurate?

Based on our testing, the reports we received matched well with the activity we saw on Instagram. For example, if we follow Nike, we can see that the account rarely follows or interacts with other users’ accounts.

Nike has many followers and posts regularly. However, what the account doesn’t do is interact with other users very often. We tracked the Instagram account and compared the activity we saw to Snoopreport’s reports. Our conclusion is that the snoop report was spot on.

Thanks to the July 2021-August 2021 reports, we can see that Nike often used the same three hashtags, had one favorite user and only liked two other posts.

Snoopreport also shows us exactly which posts the account has interacted with. If we scroll to the bottom of the report, we can see the posts that were most popular on our target account.

Overall, Snoopreport provided not only accurate information about our target accounts but also very useful details about the accounts activity.

What types of accounts can Snoopreport track?

Snoopreport offers its users insight into all publicly available data. This means you can easily track any public account. Whether it’s a celebrity or a friend, you’re sure to get a full view of users’ activity if their account is public.

However, you cannot see private accounts or private information.

frequently asked Questions

We included this section to answer some of your frequently asked questions about Snoopreport.

is it legal

Yes! Snoopreport is perfectly legit and quite ethical too. The reason we say this is because the information you get in reports is publicly available. The service does not provide any personal information about the user or private account activities.

How much is it?

Snoopreport offers three pricing plans to meet the needs of each user. The personal plan costs only $4.99/month and allows users to track two accounts. Next, you can subscribe to the Small Business plan, which allows you to track ten accounts for $14.99/month. Finally, the Professional plan is only $44.99/month, and you can keep track of 100 accounts.

How do you find mutuals?

To find mutual friends with an account you don’t already follow, just pull up their profile in the search bar, and look under their bio link for “Followed by.” If people you know follow the account, you’ll see a preview of two usernames followed by the number of how many other accounts you follow that follow them too.

How to see mutual followers on Instagram?

If you ever needed proof that it’s a small world after all, find a completely random account on Instagram — like a sustainable clothing brand, lifestyle influencer, or someone you met at a party last week — and check it out their reciprocity. Chances are someone you know loves this brand, is influenced by the celebrity, or went to preschool with party-goers. Searching for mutuals on Instagram is a solid way to learn more about accounts before you even connect.

When you find out that you have mutual friends with someone or something, it can immediately seem more familiar to them. It can also help you place them: if they are friends with your nearest and dearest, you know that they are (most likely) good people. When they hang out with your foodie friends, you know they have good taste. And meeting someone in the wild only to find out you have reciprocity on Instagram can cement your connection and give you even more talking points — or make them feel safer.

“When I match someone on a dating app and I find them on Instagram and we don’t have mutual partners, I get scared,” Ashlee, 30, tells Bustle. “I mean, how is that even possible? If you don “I don’t know people I know, I don’t need to know you. Also, I’d like a chance to ask our mutual for details,” she says.

But how to find them? Here’s how to search your Instagram connections for IRL connections and find more talking points.

Here’s how you can see if you have common mutuals on Instagram

Screenshot via Instagram

There are two different ways to see mutuals on Instagram. To see how interconnected your social circles are, go to the person’s account. Tap on your followers to load the main list of people who follow you. If this is a personal account (aka a person and not Glossier), the first people to load will be people you follow who also follow the account. (If it’s an account like Glossier that has over two million followers, the first people that load under Followers aren’t mutuals.) To the left of the Followers tab, you’ll also see a Mutuals tab with the exact count of your friends have in common with them (if you have any). If you don’t have mutual friends with the account, you won’t see a Mutuals tab.

How to see if your friends are following the account on Instagram

Let’s say you’re curious about a new skincare company and search them on Instagram to learn more about their products. Finding out that some people you know are already following the account — say, a good skin influencer — might give you a little more confidence to try their products. To find mutual friends with an account you’re not already following, just go to their profile in the search bar and search for “followed by” under their bio link. If people you know are following the account, you’ll see a preview of two usernames, followed by the number of other accounts you’re following that are also following you. You can tap this number to open the Mutual Followers tab.

private profiles

For obvious reasons, Instagram doesn’t allow scraping of follower lists of private profiles.

Duplicate or incomplete data

When viewing your results, you may find that some accounts are missing. Unfortunately, in many cases, the front end of Instagram returns duplicate data, which we automatically remove. After a series of investigations we can conclude that (unfortunately) there is nothing we can do about it. So in short:

Instagram returns duplicates

We remove these duplicates, therefore the total number of scraped profiles decreases

We can not do anything about it

The bot only returns 50 results

In some cases, the bot only returns 50 results for a given account. This usually means that the profile owner has restricted access to their “followers” list for visitors. You can easily check this by navigating to their profile page and then opening the Followers pop-up:
