HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LASHES FOR DIFFERENT EYES SHAPES?
As we always say, eyelash extensions are individual and the appearance depends on the client’s eye shape. It is the eyelash artist’s job to educate the clients about different eyelashes that are suitable for her or her eye shape.

The shape of your customers’ eyes. This is called styling the client’s eyes. The most important part is making sure you emphasize the beauty of the customers and avoid emphasizing aspects that the customers might not like as much.
Customers can have different eye shapes, e.g. B. Almond-shaped, facing up, facing down, round, protruding. All these forms usually have different styles that look good. For example, customers with down-eyed eyes should not have cat eye/squirrel mapping as this will emphasize the down-eyed eyes even more.
The size of your client’s eyes also plays a role in what lash assignment and style you should give them. The client’s large, small, or straddling eyes, as well as their eyelids – monoliders and closed eyelids – have different considerations when styling these clients’ eyes. L and L+ curls are exotic and trendy curls that can be used on some monolid lash clients. These curls can sometimes obstruct the client’s vision and so sometimes it is best to either avoid them or just go with shorter lengths so as not to obstruct the client’s field of vision.
Monolid clients typically have straighter natural lashes. Choose a more curved lash for her, e.g. e.g. L or L+. The extensions open the eyes by peeking through the otherwise heavy lash line without pulling down the natural lashes, thanks to their flat base and significant curve.
Monolid customers should use a stronger curl, such as B. C-curl or D-curl. Monolids can be styled with L and L+ curls and the result will be a stylish set.

WHICH LASH CURLS SHOULD I USE?
For monolids it is better to avoid flat curls like J and B curls as the natural lash is already flat, this curl will simply weigh down the lash and make the eye look smaller.
The orientation of your eyes – deep, wide, narrow, your eye color. The qualities of your client’s natural lashes – length, volume, color and curl.
Some clients come to you with lashes so damaged that it’s just not safe to put lash extensions on and it’s best to just use growth serum until the lashes grow back and look healthy to withstand lash extensions again.
It’s also ideal for assessing your client’s preferences – a girl next door, barely any mascara look vs a dramatic look to go to a party. The best way to gauge this is to ask your client to show me 3-4 sets of lashes that you love and we can discuss if those sets are realistic for you.

IF YOU WANT TO BE ADVENTUROUS AND DOWNPLAY WITH LASH CURLS THAT’S TOTALLY GOOD AND CUSTOMERS WILL LOVE IT SO MUCH FOR SURE!
Don’t be afraid to work with different types of lashes, it will be a good experience for you to try different lashes.
If you want to explore working with the types of eyelash extension styles or eyelash curls, I would suggest that you don’t use the same curls for the whole eye. Go can start with B or C in the inner corner and then continue with the middle eye which you can use CC with and you can end it with D.
Make sure you don’t use too much D that it’s already touching the customer’s eyes, as it will feel distracting in your customers’ eyes.
When blending your curls, it’s important to avoid criss-crossing different lash curls and lengths. This is a very complex and advanced subject of eyelashes, eyelash artists only become familiar with this subject after much practice and time.
As you can see in the first picture, the curl on top is a C curl that is shorter than the middle curl, which is an L curl that is shorter than the L+ curl on the bottom. Everything looks seamless in the first picture because the curls don’t interfere with each other. If the C curl was even 2-3mm longer on top, it would interfere with the other curls and cause an uneven lash line. The eyelashes would stick out on all sides and the eyeliner effect would be lost.
This is exactly what is happening in the picture on the right. The C wave at the top is too long, causing it to lie flat on top of the L and L+ waves. This mistake could have been avoided by simply going for a shorter curl for the top, or a curlier curl like a D-curl or an L-curl, which would create a nice dark lash line with no lashes sticking out.
In the last picture below, the middle curl is L + Curl. It is unsuitable on the middle layer as it interferes with the C-curl that is too flat. It would be best to put the L+ curl on the bottom layer so that it curves sharply and doesn’t interfere with the C curl, which is flatter.
This is a complex subject for eyelash artists and looks really intimidating at first, but with practice it becomes a lot easier.

FRESH GLUE: Be sure to use fresh glue, do not let the glue sit and renew at least 3 times an hour!
Number 2 ENVIRONMENT: Use the right adhesive for your environment. Temperature and humidity can change with the different seasons. At LLBA we recommend using Speedy in a cold and dry environment. A hygrometer is good to make sure your temperature and humidity stay within an optimal range for your glue to work perfectly. Speedy is a quick drying glue that typically dries in 0.5 to 1 second. In a hot and humid environment, at LLBA we recommend La Magnétique, a slower drying adhesive. Many beginners don’t know about this when they start, but once you figure it out, your work will be seamless.
Number 3: LASH PREP ROUTINE: We cannot stress this key point enough. This can make or break your lash kit. You should always clean your client’s eyelashes. It is recommended that your client’s lashes be washed with an appropriate lash cleanser and rinsed with saline.

Eyelash extensions will not damage your natural lashes if they are applied correctly. There are two important facts to consider before deciding which lashes are best for you.
Long, thicker extensions aren’t always the best – The extensions used should be slightly longer and thicker than your natural lashes. Most of those who have experienced damaged lashes have had the wrong type of lashes applied by an untrained stylist. Excess weight and length can put a strain on the natural lashes and cause the natural lashes to break or fall out prematurely.
An extension should only be attached to one natural lash – An experienced stylist would completely isolate a natural lash and only attach an extension to that natural lash (classic eyelash extensions). This method allows your natural lashes to grow and fall freely and not be constrained by sticking to other lashes. Allergic product reactions and eyelash damage are caused by incorrect application and can result in itching, pinching and massive clumping. To alleviate discomfort, the client would likely pick or pull out the offending extensions, resulting in damaged natural lashes or even worse bald eyes.
Is it true that I can never get my extensions wet or they will fall out?
It’s okay to get your lashes wet and we recommend cleaning them daily. When your stylist mists your lashes (sprays with a fine mist after treatment), the glue sets instantly so you can exercise, swim or hit the gym right after your appointment. If your stylist doesn’t mist your lashes, it will take up to 48 hours for your glue to set, so avoid wetting your lashes beforehand.
Is it true that lashes fall out faster when I touch them?
It’s okay to brush them gently when needed, but don’t pull or play with them as you could pull out your natural lashes. If properly applied and cared for, your lashes should last through the end of the natural lash cycle. You should wash your eyelashes every night to keep your eyes clean and healthy.
Is it true that I can’t wear mascara with my extensions?
The whole point of extensions is that you don’t have to wear mascara, but whether or not you want to wear water-based mascara over your extensions is entirely your choice. If you find your extensions don’t look full enough, ask to add more lashes instead. There may be an additional charge for removing lash residue during refills as it is a cumbersome process to remove mascara from lashes and is also time consuming.
An eyelash stylist would rather spend appointment time applying eyelashes than removing makeup from existing ones. If you’ve decided you don’t want to groom your lashes and want them to fall out completely with your natural lash cycle, you can apply mascara to blend the remaining extensions until they fall out completely. Only use water-based mascara.
THE TRUTH ABOUT eyelash extensions
The main ingredient in eyelash glue is cyanoacrylate, the same ingredient used in surgical glue. Cyanoacrylate is also commonly used in household, medical, and industrial adhesives. Despite what some companies claim, the fact is that no eyelash glue is currently hypoallergenic or FDA approved.
Eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelashes about 1 mm from the skin.
The adhesive should never come into contact with the skin. We typically take out between 1 and 2 drops of glue per customer and only use 1/10th of each drop! So when extensions are properly applied they should be seamless and you should NEVER see any globs of glue anywhere, not even a tiny amount!

Depending on the client’s preferences and the characteristics of their natural eyelashes, we select the best style of eyelash extensions for them. Although you have to personalize each style, these are the best eyelash extension styles to refer to.
Natural Style The standard style of eyelash extensions, the natural style aims to make your lashes look as realistic as possible. Follow your natural lash length and add length and thickness. This styling helps to accentuate the natural lashes and it looks like you have a very good mascara. Here a single lash extension is added to your natural lash with softer curls as opposed to dramatic options. This is the most popular style to achieve the most natural eyelash extensions.
Natural Sweep Style The natural sweep style uses shorter inner corners and adds equal length to the rest of the lash line. This styling helps open and lengthen the eye.
Cat-Eye Style The longest eyelash extensions on the outer corner of the eye rejuvenate the eye and create a shapely cat-eye look. In this case, you need to add shorter extensions towards the middle and inner corners of your eyes. This styling helps elongate the eye.
Dolly Style Dolly style is used to open your eyes and make your eyes look round. Here, lash technicians add the longest lash extensions around the center of the eye and shorter strands around the outer and inner corners. This styling helps round and open the eye.

First off, there are multiple eye shapes when you look at the small details. Even both eyes of a person have different properties. Therefore, I will teach how to personalize eyelash extensions for each eye using the basic eye shapes.[1][2]

This is the most common eye shape, which is also wider than the other shapes. Almond eyes are best recognized by how they taper around the inner and outer corners of the eyes. If your eyes are almond-shaped, the outer edge of your cornea may be hidden under your eyelids.

Choosing a natural lash style can accentuate the almond shape of the eyes.
Eyelashes can accentuate the almond shape of the eyes. If you want to open your eyes, it is good to go for the Natural Sweep Style.
To make your eyes more proportional or wild, cat-eye style is your best choice.
To prevent the eyes from being obscured due to the almond shape, a more rounded style like Dolly Style fits great!
round eyes
Round eyes, which typically protrude at larger than average sizes, do not taper at the outer or inner corners. In addition, this eye shape is easily recognized by the white of the cornea surrounding it on all sides. With the false eyelash style, people with round eyes can constantly look surprised!

Since this type of shape has a teardrop on the edges, lash technicians should not use the cat-eye style as it exaggerates the downward teardrop.

Typical of Asians, this type of eye shape doesn’t pair well with cat-eye styles, as long lashes can protrude into the eyelid.

As an eyelash technician, it is critical for me to fine-tune eyelash extension style from client to client as it helps me create a personalized style that suits their profile.
We’ve already talked about the importance of considering the client’s eye shape when choosing the best style of eyelash extensions.
However, there are some other factors to consider.
I will briefly discuss them below.

This is probably the number 1 factor to consider.
Just as knowing your body shape helps you find the best fitting clothes and the shape of your face helps you apply flawless makeup, the shape of your eyes forms the basis of your eyelash extension treatment.
In this article, we will narrow down the standard eye shapes like almond eyes, round eyes, upturned eyes, downturned eyes, small eyes, and hooded eyes.
size of your eyes
Depending on the vertical and horizontal dimensions of your eyes, the size of your eyes can be described as large, average, or small. Another practice-based rule for checking size is to compare your eyes to other features on your face.
For reference, Anne Hathaway has big eyes and Yeardley Smith has small eyes.

Proportion refers to the distance between your eyes, or where they are set in relation to each other.
If the distance between your eyes is average, this is a balanced eye setting. In addition, wide and narrow set eyes are set far and close respectively.
For reference, Gemma Ward has wide-set eyes, Jennifer Lawrence has proportional eyes, and Miley Cyrus has narrow-set eyes.

When your eyes are deep in the socket, they are said to be deep-set.

The reason for so many differently shaped eyelashes is obvious, there are so many differently shaped eyes. There is something for everyone.
Your first step is to find out what kind of eyes you have. Then this determines which eyelash shape flatters your eyes. Then just shop the different styles in this shape section.
WHAT EYE SHAPE ARE YOU?
Look at your eyes in the mirror. Then eliminate the shape you know you don’t have. Start with: Are my eyes wide apart? Then move across until you find the perfect match. If you are having trouble choosing your eye shape, read the descriptions below.

Deep set eyes: cat eye to hide the creases in your lids and open your eyes. Depending on where your crease sits, a doll-style lash might also work.

Is open eye the same as doll eye?
A cross between the natural and open eye styles, the Doll Eye is characterised by length right across the eye line with the longest lashes on the middle of the eye. This look will make our eyes appear bigger and fuller – but not to such an extent as the Open Eye style will.
Best Lash Extensions For Hooded Eyes
Not many people know that there are actually different types of eyelash extensions. Many lash salons don’t even offer different styles and instead just lay down and start adding extensions as soon as your appointment starts. When this happens, do your best to escape because you’ve probably found a bad eyelash technician!
First, let’s look at the top 4 eyelash extension styles. Then we’ll go through each eye shape and bring the two together.
A Note About Eyelash Extension Styles: While there are four main styles, there can be major differences in length, lash thickness, curl, number of lashes attached, and overlap between styles. A good lash technician will be able to customize your lashes not only to your eye shape, but also to your preferences and personal style!
Let’s start…
The natural eye
The goal of this look is to make the lashes look natural. You’ll appear like one of the lucky few blessed with long, full lashes.
The natural eye follows the same contours of your natural lashes. Fairly even length across the eyelid, with slightly less on the inner and outer edges. To mimic eyelashes at all stages of the natural growth cycle, extensions of varying lengths are placed directly on the eye.
The open eye
This style accentuates the center of the eye, adding volume and length in the center of the eyelid and tapering at each end to create a symmetrical gradient.
Traditionally, this style uses lashes of around 8mm for the corners and between 12 and 14mm for the center of the eyelid.
The cat eye
You may be familiar with this style from eye makeup tutorials that use eyeliner to create a curl at the outer corner of the eye… The same can be done with eyelash extensions but in a more dramatic and feminine way.
The lashes start at their shortest length at the inner corner of the eye and gradually taper until they reach their maximum length at the outer corner of the eye. Up to the outer corner, the difference in length is about 50% greater. An initial play of 9 mm at the inside corner would therefore result in an outside corner play of 14 mm.
There is usually also a small decrease in length and at the very end to taper a little, usually when the maximum length is 14mm the extreme corner can taper to 13mm.
A slight variation on the cat eye is the “kitten eye” which is exactly the same idea but the difference between the shortest and longest lashes is closer to 25% – so a 9mm inner corner lash would result in a narrower outer corner lash up to 11-12mm.
Taylor Swift is regularly spotted with cat-eye style lash extensions that perfectly complement her upside-down eye shape.
The baby doll eye
A cross between the natural and open eye styles, the doll eye is characterized by length just above the eye line with the longest lashes in the center of the eye.
This look makes our eyes appear bigger and fuller—but not to the extent of the open-eye style. Megan Fox is known for having classic doll eyelash extensions.
Now that we’ve covered the 4 basic eyelash extension styles, let’s look at what shape your eye is so I can recommend an eyelash style that’s perfect for you. But that’s just a starting point – a good lash technician can give you more specific advice based on your personal style and whether the lashes are for an event or everyday life.
Eye Shape Basics
There are three main categories of eye shape.
Almond oval and round …
Then there are dozens more sub-categories where small differences like eye angle, size, proximity and eyelid characteristics allow for more accurate recommendations. You’ll also find that you can fit into multiple categories, for example you might have round, narrowly set, upturned eyes – effectively putting you into three categories. If that’s the case, you should choose the category that is most prominent.
The almond eye shape is the most popular, so many makeup tutorials focus on achieving this look—emphasizing parts of the eye through contouring and other makeup techniques.
For this article, I’ve selected eight of the most common eye types I see in my salon. These are almond-shaped, close-fitting, deep-set, prominent, downturned, single-lidded, round, and hooded eyes.
Now it’s time to categorize your eye so we can give you some eyelash extension style recommendations!
almond eyes
In conventional beauty, the almond eye shape is the most alluring and attractive. The description of this eye shape is in the name – shaped like an almond. The length is greater than the height and there is a slight upward swing at the outer corners.
Recommendations for eyelash lengthening for almond eyes
You’re in luck because every style looks good, so it’s more of a personal preference. Choosing the cat eye style will accentuate the length of your eye and give it a very alluring and mysterious look.
Using the Open Eye or Doll Eye will make your eyes look bigger – this can be a great option if you want a more dramatic look or if you have an eye color that pops like green or blue.
Close Eyes
This is an eye spacing category rather than an eye shape, and is characterized by a gap between the eyes of less than one eye. So if you measure the length of your eye from the outer to the inner corner of your eye, then measure the distance from the inner corner of your left and right eye – if the second measurement is smaller than the first, then you fall into the near-set’ eyes category.
Recommendations for eyelash lengthening for narrow eyes
The goal here would be to draw attention to the outer corner of the eye by adding longer, cat-eye style lashes in that area. Creating extra length on the lashes in the outer corner and gradually shorter lengths moving towards the inner corner will make a big difference.
Deep-set eyes
Again, we’re more in the area of an eye position than a shape, but this type of eye has its own style guide… The deep set eye simply sits deeper in the eye socket. So, the goal of the lash style is to give the impression of showing off more.
Since makeup is a 2D application (meaning it sits flat against your skin) and eyelash extensions are 3D (meaning they protrude and create depth) – if you have deep-set eyes, eyelash extensions are actually much more effective to get because we can really create extra depth.
Recommendations for eyelash lengthening for deep-set eyes
To make the eye stand out, I usually recommend the Baby Doll or Open Eye lash style as these create the illusion that the eye is sitting further out.
If your eyes also fall into the round category, then choose the baby doll. While other shapes (particularly the covered eye) should opt for the open eye lash style.
protruding eyes
The opposite of deep-set eyes are protruding eyes that sit further outside of the eye socket. I would estimate that 80% of the time they also have a round eye shape.
Since you already have big round eyes (which makes you very happy!), the goal here is to accentuate the outer corners.
Eyelash lengthening recommendations for protruding eyes
Go for the cat eye style or a variation of it like the kitten eye which is a shorter version. Adding the extra length and fullness in the outer corners of your eyes simulates that almond shape and really draws attention to your big, beautiful eyes.
Downward eyes
This is more of a “corner of the eye” where the outer corner of the eye sits directly opposite (on a horizontal plane) or below the inner corner of the eye.
Eyelash extension recommendations for down-facing eyes
The aim is to create volume at the upper outer corner of the eye to lift the eye. The down eye is perfect for the cat eye lash style and as long as you have the natural lashes to support them you can certainly pull off long extensions up to 14mm at that outer angle.
hooded eyes
That means you have a little extra skin just above the crease of the eye. This can vary widely, from a slight, almost indistinguishable cap to an overlapping cap that can sit on the lash line.
Eyelash lengthening recommendations for hooded eyes
In this case we want to open the eye, so of course this fits perfectly with the Open Eye style. We add fullness and length to the center of the eye, tapering as we approach the inner and outer corners of the eye.
Using the open eye style with covered eyes always produces dramatic before and after photos as it can add a lot more depth and draw attention to the eye itself.
Monolid / unilid eyes
Eyes with a single lid have no visible crease, so eyelash extensions can create the appearance of a more open and larger eye shape. This eye shape also usually has straighter natural lashes, so choosing a curl with more flare will add drama and openness.
Recommendations for eyelash lengthening for monolid/single lid eyes
A mix of a baby doll for a natural look and a bit of cat eye to add extra length to the outer corners always looks good and accentuates the elongated eye shape, making it even more appealing.
round eyes
If you’re blessed with big eyes, then they’re probably already your most dominant trait. The round eye shape is characterized by having a height that is the same as (or very close to) the length.
Recommendations for eyelash lengthening for round eyes
My most common recommendation is the cat eye because it adds length to your eye and helps balance your eye more towards that desirable almond shape while maintaining the beauty of your round eyes.

1. What is the best glue for eyelash extensions?
Every lash artist has their own preference when it comes to defining “the best” – steam, lash longevity or curing speed. At LashArt we have developed a full line of adhesives as we believe every eyelash artist should have several different adhesives to suit different clients and applications.
Among all the properties of the eyelash extension glue, the curing speed is what our customers care most about. We’ve added the chart below to illustrate the cure speed of each adhesive without pretreatment at the same humidity and temperature.
You can compare the other properties of our adhesives in the diagram below.
“Irritation” is measured solely by the fumes from the adhesive. A customer can react to any ingredient in a smokeless glue, so a patch test is required.

2. Do I have to use a primer with the glue?
The curing speed of the adhesive can be influenced by 2 main factors: pre-treatment and humidity.
A good pre-treatment has a very positive effect on the curing time and the longevity of the eyelashes. Imagine if you wanted to join two plastic parts together, you would need to clean both surfaces before attaching them. Lash extensions are made of PBT material, which is difficult to bond with cyanoacrylate. An accelerator greatly reduces the surface energy and increases the quality of the adhesion promoter. Alcohol and alkaline chemicals are always to be used as primer and accelerator for eyelash extension glue. Before applying the adhesive, the solvent carrier must be allowed time to flash off the substrate (typically < 1 min). What are the main ingredients of eyelash extension glue? Eyelash extension glue is 80% cyanoacrylate, which hardens with even the slightest moisture. According to Wikipedia: “In general, cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin that polymerizes rapidly in the presence of water (particularly hydroxide ions), forming long, strong chains and binding the joined surfaces together. Since the presence of moisture causes the adhesive to harden, a thin skin will form within seconds at normal humidity levels, greatly slowing down the reaction. For this reason, cyanoacrylate is applied thinly to ensure that the reaction is rapid and a strong bond is formed within a reasonable time.” There are three main types: - Ethyl: Fast curing, high strength, sometimes with strong fumes. - Ethoaxyethyl: Slow curing, no fumes and ideal for sensitive customers. - Butyl: Weak fumes and a slower cure speed. With the exception of the main ingredient, the eyelash extension glue has been carefully formulated with a balanced thickener, pigment stabilizer and accelerator. Polymerization: Cyanoacrylate is an acrylic resin that polymerizes rapidly in the presence of moisture, forming long, strong chains that bind bonded surfaces together. 4. What is the best humidity/temperature for eyelash extension glue? We recommend a humidity between 45% - 60% and a temperature between 20°C - 25°C The higher the humidity (e.g. in a room), the faster the product hardens. If the humidity is too high, the eyelash glue will not harden properly and shock polymerisation will take place. This leads to a weaker connection with the natural lash. If the humidity is too low, the curing time will be slower as there is not enough moisture to 'cure' the lash glue and in turn your client will experience poor retention as the glue becomes hard and stiff. (a so-called shock polymerization) The latter provokes a shrinkage process of the adhesive layer, which leads to a lower adhesive strength. All eyelash extension adhesives have a “fixture time” and a “curing time”. An adhesive is "set" when the bond is strong enough to be handled without compromising the long-term strength of the adhesive. For eyelash extension glue, this time is typically within seconds at room temperature and reaches full strength in 24 hours. It is important to maintain a constant humidity level in any hair extensions studio to control the curing time of the glue. The humidity in the room can change depending on the season, in winter, when the heating is on, the humidity is low. Humidifiers and dehumidifiers can help regulate humidity, which should be between 45 and 60% relative humidity. This gives the optimal curing time for attaching the lashes. If there is too much moisture in the air, the glue can set too quickly, causing the glue to become too sticky too quickly and difficult to handle. If the air is too dry, the glue will also take too long to cure, which may cause the eyelash to slip before curing. To monitor your humidity, we recommend purchasing a hygrometer that will measure the humidity in your treatment room. If the humidity is too high, you can control this by opening your windows or by purchasing a dehumidifier that can lower the humidity. Alternatively, you can turn on the heater or a heater. A slower drying eyelash glue can also be considered. If the humidity is too low, you need a humidifier. This works by releasing water vapor into the air to increase humidity. This is ideal when the heating is on and the air can be dry. You can also consider plants and nano-misters. Alternatively, consider a faster-drying lash glue. 5. How to store eyelash extension glue? Although regular cyanoacrylate glue can be stored for about 2 years, eyelash extension glue is different. They have a fairly short shelf life (usually 6-9 months) and it is recommended to use them within 1 month of opening. Extreme care must be taken to extend the life of eyelash extension glue. UNOPENED ADHESIVE Eyelash glue should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place separate from other products. The perfect storage solution is a wide-mouth vacuum flask. If you keep the glue in the preservation pack provided, please keep the silica gel sachet in the pouch, remove all the air and seal it tightly. If possible, store the glue in the fridge/freezer and make sure the preservation pack is facing up. Remove from the fridge/freezer and allow the bottle to thaw at room temperature for 24 hours before use. Shake vigorously before first use. Once thawed, do not refrigerate/freeze. AFTER FIRST USE After using the eyelash glue, squeeze excess glue from the nozzle into a lint-free cloth to avoid clogging, and clean the nozzle well to ensure there is no debris that could prevent the cap from sealing properly. Store the eyelash glue together with silica gel sachet in the preservation pack and squeeze out the air before reseal the pack. You may consider wrapping the preservation pack or storing it in a sealable glass jar with more silica gel bags to ensure the preservation pack stands. It is recommended to store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Repeat after each use.
