WISPY LASH MAPPING
Hello folks! I made this little chart to show my fellow lash chefs how I personally create my lash sets.
1) I always start with the “𝘴𝘱𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘴” and use my longer 18mm lengths to create these. These longer lengths will make or break your wispy set!
2) I mix my diameters and curls, alternating between D Curl 0.07/0.03 and C Curl 0.07.
3) Wide compartments give you fine goodness. Narrow fans will help to make it 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘.
4) The fullness of the set depends on the customer’s natural eyelashes, of course. Please advise accordingly!

You are considering cat eye eyelash extensions. You’ve heard great things about them but aren’t sure if they’re right for you or if the results are worth the price.
In this article, we give you a complete guide to cat eye eyelash extensions. We’ll discuss what they are, how to use them, their pros and cons, and whether or not they would look good on you.

What are cat eye eyelash extensions?
Cat-Eye is a specific style of eyelash extensions that uses longer extensions towards the outer corner of the eye and shorter ones towards the inner corner of the eye. This creates a winged or feline look.

For one, it can help your eyes appear wider and more open. Besides, cat eye styling can give you a sultry, sexy and alluring look. They are perfect for special occasions or everyday wear when you want to feel confident and beautiful.
Of all the different eyelash extension styles offered at my eyelash salon, cat eye is by far the most requested. Customers love this style for good reason.

Lash mapping for a cat eye lash style
Whether a client has thin or short lashes, an experienced lash technician can personalize lash extensions to make them work. And the number one solution to personalize the cat eye lash style is a good lash card.
So what is a lash map anyway?
A lash chart is simply a drawing of the eye showing where each type and length of extension goes.
Here is an example of a cat eye lash card:

As you can see, the lash chart takes into account the direction of the natural lashes, the shape of the eye, and the look you want.
Creating an eyelash card isn’t difficult, but it does take some practice. If you’re just starting out, I recommend using a lash map template.
Here are the steps I take to create a cat eye lash chart for my clients:
Divide the total area of the lash line into 4 to 6 sections with dotted lines. With a fine tip, you can draw directly on the pad under the eyes. The sections should be evenly spaced. Pro tip: the more sections you divide the lash line, the more eye-catching or precise styles you can create! Choose 7 to 8 different lengths of eyelash extensions. This is typically between 8-15mm in length based on varying lengths of natural lashes per section. Side note – It helps create a big and bold sweep that adds definition to your lashes. So add at least 2mm of length to client’s lashes. Start with shorter lengths from the inner corner of the eye to the middle. The inside corner typically uses 8mm and goes up to 10 or 11mm for the middle part. Move towards the middle part of the eye towards the outer corner with longer lengths. They usually use 10-11mm in the middle and gradually increase the length to 14-15mm for the outer corner of the eye. Reduce the lengths in the extreme corners to add a dramatic winged look. This is an optional step, but I sometimes like to use 10 or 1mm in the outermost section. When choosing a curl, anything from straight J curls to DD curls and others in between can be used for the cat eye style.
How to do cat eye eyelash extensions
Cat eye lash extensions are applied in the same way as regular lashes, but with a few tweaks to achieve the desired shape. The secret lies mainly in the mapping.
Step 1: Attach the bottom lashes
Use patches under the eyes to secure the bottom lashes. This keeps the bottom lashes from getting in the way and makes it easier to attach the extensions to the top lashes.
Step 2: Choose your eyelash style
The next step is to choose the length, thickness and curve of your eyelash extensions. For a cat-eye look, you should choose longer eyelashes for the outer corner of the eye and shorter ones for the inner corner of the eye.
Do you also opt for a classic or voluminous cat eye?
When it comes to volume, I generally recommend a maximum of 6D (6 eyelash extensions per natural eyelash). Anything beyond that might look too heavy.
Step 3: Apply the eyelash extensions
Use tweezers to dip the end of the eyelash extensions into the glue, then apply to your natural lash.
With this style, I like to start with the shorter extensions in the inner corner of my eye and gradually work my way to the outer corner of my eye where I apply the longer lashes.
Step 4: Final touches
When you are finished applying the extensions, you should brush them gently. Then you should cure the glue. There are a few methods you can use, but I like them to be easy to clean since moisture forces the curing process.
Remove the eye pads and voila! You are done!
Classic vs Hybrid vs Volume Cat-Eye
The cat eye style is not one size fits all. There are actually three main types of techniques that can be used with this style: classic, hybrid and volume.
The main difference between the three is the number of eyelash extensions used per natural lash.
Classic cat eye lash extensions use 1 extension for every 1 natural lash. This is the simplest and most natural of the three styles.
