Note: It is important to note at the beginning of this article that all numbers have an equal chance of being selected. This is the type of random number selection process that uses computerized random number generators to select the winning numbers during each draw.

Before we look at some winning tips for the next Lotto Max draw, let’s look at a brief history of the lottery game and its origins.

The Lotto Max: A Brief History of the Game and Its Origins

According to Wikipedia.com, the Canadian Lotto Max is one of Canada’s three national lottery games. It was first introduced on September 19, 2009 and the first drawing was held on September 25, 2009. It replaced the Lotto Super 7 game launched on June 10, 1994 with its last draw on September 18, 2009.

In order to take a Lotto Super 7 ticket, players had to select seven numbers between 1 and 50. When the game first launched, players only had to choose 7 numbers between 1 and 49.

How to play the Lotto Max lottery game

The Lotto Max is known today as Canada’s largest lottery game. Its jackpot starts at $10 million (CAD) and can roll up to $70 million (CAD). In addition, when the jackpot exceeds $50 million (CAD), a feature called MAXMILLIONS draws is activated. In other words, there were additional draws of $1 million (CAD) each.

There are two options when purchasing tickets. You can choose the seven main numbers and one bonus number yourself. Or you can rely on the Quick Pick feature, a random number generator, to randomize the numbers for you.

Finally, draws take place twice a week, on a Tuesday and a Friday evening.

Winning tips to increase your chances of winning the Lotto Max jackpot

Although each lottery draw uses a random number generator algorithm to select the numbers and there is no theoretical way to predict which numbers will be drawn, these randomly drawn numbers form patterns.

So let’s look at what is generally said about finding patterns in the numbers chosen during a lottery draw.

1. Avoid betting 7 consecutive numbers

It is extremely rare for consecutive numbers to be selected as a jackpot winning number combination. In fact, experts like Gail Howard, one of America’s top lottery strategy experts, note that in the last 50 years, seven or even six consecutive numbers have never been drawn before.

However, there is the curious case of the South African Lottery Powerball draw that took place on December 1st, 2020, where the numbers 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10, the bonus ball, were drawn.

Apparently there are rare instances where five consecutive numbers have been drawn. But it is not wise lottery game strategy to choose any combination of consecutive numbers.

2. Play a mix of 4/3 or 3/4 odd to even numbers

When choosing your lottery numbers, it’s a good idea to have an even mix of even and odd numbers. Combinations of numbers that contain either all odd numbers or all even numbers are very rarely drawn. The best mix of odd and even numbers is 3/4 or 4/3. This means either 3 odd and 4 even numbers or 4 odd and 3 even numbers. One of these two number combinations appears in about 60% of all Canadian Lotto Max draws.

3. Play 7 numbers that add up to 141 and 240

After choosing your seven numbers, make sure their sum totals between 141 and 240. Over 70% of all lottery jackpot winning number combinations, when added together, fall within this number range.

4. Play no more than 1 number from the last draw

It is almost human nature to pick most, if not all, of the winning number sets drawn during the last draw. Statistically, however, this is not a good idea. Lotto Max draw statistics show that only one number in the winning combination will be drawn in the next draw.

For example, if the numbers drawn are 6, 50, 24, 10, 5, 1, 45 and the numbers you chose were 2, 5, 19, 23, 32, 50, 48, it is reasonable to want to copy them all or most of the winning numbers when you buy a ticket for consecutive draws. Statistics show that picking more than 1 of the winning number set is not a good idea.

5. Avoid picking 7 numbers in a single group of numbers

The main groups of numbers relevant to Canadian Lotto Max are:

Single Digits (0-9)

Youth (10-19)

The Twenties (20-29)

The Thirties (30-39)

The forties (40-49)

It’s not a good idea to pick all seven numbers from a single group of numbers like the 30’s. Statistics show that it is not plausible that a winning number combination would be drawn from a group of numbers. It is advisable to select a balanced set or numbers from just a few of these groups of numbers.

6. Avoid betting on patterns and multiples of numbers

Pattern bets are when players select numbers that form a straight or diagonal line on the lottery ticket. These numbers are often chosen, which means that if you choose the winning set of numbers in this way, you will likely have to share your winnings with others because they will be heavily played.

Another betting strategy that is played a lot is picking numbers using multiplication strategies, like 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 or 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49. So you get more than If you win a prize, you will likely have to share your prize with several other people.

7. Avoid always playing the same digits of the last number

In number theory, a lucky number is a natural number in a set that is produced by a specific “sieve”. This sieve is similar to Eratosthenes’ sieve that produces the prime numbers, but it eliminates numbers based on their position in the remaining set, rather than on their value (or their position in the initial set of natural numbers).[1]

The term was introduced in a 1956 article by Gardiner, Lazarus, Metropolis and Ulam. They suggest calling the defining sieve also “the sieve of Josephus Flavius”[2] because of its similarity to the counting game in the Josephus problem.

Lucky numbers share some properties with prime numbers, such as B. asymptotic behavior according to the prime number theorem; in addition, a version of Goldbach’s conjecture was extended to them. There are infinitely many lucky numbers. However, if L n denotes the nth lucky number and p n denotes the nth prime number, then L n > p n for all sufficiently large n.[3]

Because of these apparent connections with the primes, some mathematicians have suggested that these properties might be found in a larger class of sets of numbers generated by sevens of a particular unknown form, although there is little theoretical basis for this conjecture. Twin lucky numbers and twin primes also seem to occur with similar frequency.

Continue removing the nth remaining numbers, where n is the next number in the list after the last surviving number. Next comes 9 in this example.

One way in which the application of the method differs from that of Eratosthenes’ sieve is that since n is the number being multiplied on a given pass, the first number eliminated on the pass is the n -th remaining number that has not yet been eliminated, as opposed to the number 2n. That is, the list of numbers through which this sieve counts is different on each pass (e.g. 1, 3, 7, 9, 13, 15, 19… on the third pass), while in the Sieve of Eratosthenes the sieve always counts through the entire original list (1, 2, 3…).

CHICAGO (CBS) – The Mega Millions jackpot is currently $1.28 billion – or $747 million in whopping lump sums.

Yes, you could play your children’s birthdays or your anniversary or a similar combination.

But with more than a billion dollars at stake, some research might be in order. After taxes, a single Illinois winner could raise about $523 million, according to lottostrategies. (This number is based on Friday midday jackpot numbers, which could be growing ahead of Friday night’s drawing.)

According to USA Mega, here are the most frequently drawn numbers based on the last 100 draws: 7, 21, 40, 3, 58.

The most common Mega Ball is 24.

For those looking for the rarest numbers: 23, 50, 54, 67, 49.

The least common Mega Ball is 7. It hasn’t been drawn once in the last 100 draws.

Of course, choosing your numbers or relying on the machine to draw them doesn’t change your chances of hitting the jackpot. that’s 1 in 302,575,350. For comparison, according to the National Park Service, the chances of being attacked by a bear are about 1 in 2 million.

There was no jackpot winner in Tuesday’s Mega Millions draw, but 9 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize including a ticket purchased in Illinois.

A study found the 11 most lucky numbers in the world and I speculate as to why the numbers topped the list. Side note: 11 made it, but not in 11th place.

A British author named Alex Bellos recently published a book on lucky numbers and although I haven’t read it – books am I right? — I HAVE read the results of a study he published. I’m not sure how much he would appreciate that, so here’s a plug: His book is called Alex Through the Looking Glass in the UK and The Grapes of Math in the US because Americans love puns.

Alex conducted a global survey of 30,000 people to compile a list of the happiest numbers in the world. The complete results can be found here in an Excel spreadsheet. I pulled out the top 11 and easily explained why they are popular. These are the 11 most popular lucky numbers in the world…

This is the second-highest number in the top 30 (69 came in at #30 to demonstrate the strength of the world’s perverted voting bloc). Depending on where your perspective lies, you’ve credited 42’s success to either Hitchhiker’s Guide or Jackie Robinson.

As one of the world’s leading supporters of the number 11, I’m proud that it went so well. But as THE world’s leading proponent of the concept that the top 10 is for cowards, making the top 10 at age 11 sent me into a recursive loop of pride and shame.

2 is a slightly strange choice for a lucky number, although apparently it brings good luck in China. Since this was a worldwide poll, it’s entirely possible that 2 made it this high on the list – nobody bangs a ballot box like the Chinese do. (I mean, um, not in their own elections…but they’re starved in online polls.) The number 2 ending that high is like the “Yao Ming in the All-Star Game, despite averaging 4 and 2” of the lucky ones is a list of numbers.

Apparently there is an eau de cologne called Lucky Number 6 by Liz Claiborne. That’s the only evidence I’ve found linking the concepts of “lucky number” and “6”… and with all due respect to Liz Claiborne, I’m not sure if her cologne’s Q-Score puts that number on the list brought. And since I’m also not willing to attribute its popularity to Jenna von Oy’s bright shining star, I think it was Chinese culture again – 6 is another of their lucky numbers associated with wealth.

7 | 9

According to the internet, 9 is the lucky number in Norway because of its importance in Norse mythology. There are nine realms in Norse mythology (and occasionally Natalie Portman disappears into them when they all align).

6 | 13

13 is the most unlucky number in most western cultures, so I think we can attribute its popularity to people being opposites. The Internet was essentially based on its ability to turn people into rebels with little effort and no consequence.

5 | 5

5 is another lucky number in Chinese culture. There is certainly nothing that can happen now to dissuade me from believing that this list was entirely influenced by China’s lucky numbers.

4 | 4

let’s explore it 4 is an unlucky number in… oh my… China. My underlying thesis was shaken! It’s time to do what all other good researchers do: ignore this result and move on with confirmation bias galore.

3 | 8th

8 is a lucky number in Chinese (and Japanese) culture because the pronunciation is similar to the word for prosperity and wealth. As I said, China totally influenced this list and I have no evidence (that I look at) to the contrary.

Three is a pretty logical choice for a lucky number. They say that good things come in threes, like comedy punch lines, good Destiny’s Child reruns, and celebrity deaths.

Seven is a ubiquitous lucky number in the Western world, so it was almost a shot at number one on the list. From slot machines to George Costanza baby names, everyone wants to be part of the sevens. And to keep it that way, I won’t even look up China’s feelings about the number 7.

A few other findings from the study: The least lucky number is 110 – it’s the lowest whole number that got zero votes…pi came in 18th…as mentioned, 69 came in 30th, so he was clearly asking after THIS demographic…infinity came in 84th…5318008 (aka BOOBIES if you turn the calculator upside down) came in 108th…420 came in 115th so clearly he wasn’t asking for THIS demographic number…1234, the code on your baggage, came in 117th … and 8675309 got two votes, making it a massive tie for 249th place.

A Brazilian mathematician claims it is possible to predict the outcome of a lottery draw by applying complicated mathematics and probability theories.

Renato Gianella has found that it is entirely possible to predict numbers that are more likely to appear than others by following the same patterns of behavior that the law of large numbers predicts.

His study, titled The Geometry of Chance: Lotto Numbers Follow a Predicted Pattern, finds that not all number combinations have the same chance of occurring — in short, it’s possible to predict patterns of numbers with a greater chance of being drawn.

The mathematician behind the study has created a website that uses color patterns to indicate combinations of numbers that are more likely to win the lottery based on previous draws in 20 lotteries from around the world – but you may need more than GCSE math to figure out the code decrypt

The study claims that there is a pattern that is applicable to all lotteries worldwide and can be worked out with an intricate colored template.

Mr Gianella said: “The lottery should no longer be viewed as a form of gambling, but as a true demonstration of probability theory and the law of large numbers.”

However, it is not that easy to select the six most likely numbers to win the national lottery, but it is possible to select several combinations of numbers that are more likely to be drawn due to probability.

The mathematician has a website www.lotorainbow.com.br/en/default.asp that allows people to see the probability of different numbers being drawn in 20 different lotteries around the world – but readers may need it themselves a degree in mathematics to understand them.

The math behind the theory is based on past draws and patterns that result from them – past draws dictate the future probability of a given number being drawn.

Combinations of certain numbers are more likely to win than others depending on the probability. In short, not all combinations of numbers have an equal chance of being drawn – but it is still very difficult to predict actual winning combinations

Lotto Probability – How it works

If you toss a coin, you have a one in two chance of getting heads, but you might get none at all. If you toss the coin many times, you’ll be moving more towards a 50/50 split of heads or tails (i.e. it will look more like the odds you were given). Combinations of certain numbers are more likely to win than others. So it’s all about looking at the decisions you’ve made as a whole rather than the individual numbers.

Instead of saying that there are 12,271,512 different possible combinations, Gianella reduced it to 210 colored templates representing all combinations. He then calculated the probability of getting each of these combinations.

For example, if someone were to pick all of the low numbers (ranging from 1 to 9), they have a 0.0007% chance of their template appearing, since there are only 84 combinations to use those numbers. But if they pick one out of all the different colors (with two shades of purple), they have a 2.6403% chance that their template will appear, since there are 324,000 different combinations using those numbers.

The study states: “The frequentist notion holds that the likelihood of a given event being related to the frequency with which such an event will repeat itself. In addition, if an event is repeated many times, the average of the outcomes from all events should be close to the expected outcome, as predicted by the law of large numbers. Therefore, games of all kinds that involve a lot of repetition (e.g., lotteries) are ideal laboratories for studying probabilities. Now, a new study shows that not all number combinations have the same probability of appearing in a lottery draw.

“The study is based on mathematics and probability theories applied to lottery draws. It takes a colored template that determines all possible combinations of numbers as specified by Pascal’s rule. Using this colored template makes it easier to understand and correctly identify the number combinations with the highest winning probabilities. Through experiments, the method shows that it is possible to determine that the results of a lottery draw follow the same pattern of behavior as predicted by the law of large numbers.

“Using the method proposed by Gianella, for example, templates based on past results from a number of lottery games in different countries show that the expected outcome of each template is closer to the observed outcome as more draws are made, indicating a pattern for these combinations exist. You can also use multi-draw so you play the same numbers in different draws. You can play in up to 26 draws at the same time. If you are lucky on a specific date (e.g. your birthday) you can schedule the multiple draws to take place on that day.

The most-drawn Powerball was 18, which was drawn four times during that period, while the most-drawn Megaball was 15, which was drawn four times.

Here are the most popular numbers from the 442 people who answered the survey (out of a total of 10,000 visitors to the festival). Seven was the most popular choice for both men and women.

The survey also revealed some other findings. The distribution of favorite numbers was smaller among women, with 85% of them choosing a number less than 30. In contrast, 85% of men choosing a number less than 64. No woman chose a negative number, while three men did.

Overall, 58% also chose an odd number. But 55% of men chose an odd number, while 60% of women chose “odd.”

This contradicts certain beliefs about odd and even numbers, such as in Pythagorean theory and the Chinese philosophy of yin and yang, where numbers were viewed as gendered—odd numbers, male and even numbers, female.

Why did so many people choose 7?

Many people were interested in angel number 7 for different reasons and not only because it was considered lucky. Some people said they had no idea why they liked it. Perhaps part of the answer lies in a seminal article published in 1956 by psychologist George A. Miller entitled The Magical Number Seven, Plus or Minus Two. Miller claims it’s more than coincidence that the number 7 seems to be all around us.

Our immediate memory has been shown to work well when remembering up to and no more than seven things. We can distinguish and judge seven different categories and remember about seven objects at a glance.

A 2008 memory study by Migliore, Novara, and Tegolo showed that the brain produces the best information when the number of branches (dendrites) being stimulated is seven. It suggests that we remember seven best because our brains store dates so preferentially.

People certainly voted seven in our favorite number poll. Maybe the reason they did that has to do with Miller’s brain function. So while the lottery can be a fun way to blow off some loose change and possibly score a little lucky break, it’s no substitute for investing in a decent retirement fund. For example, if you open a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) account with a Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) with an annual interest rate of 5% and deposit $1,000, you would have about $2,653.30 in 20 years if you would have done this. Don’t add a single dollar after the fact – more than doubling your money.

If you were to spend the same money on the lottery, you would probably lose most of it. However, there is one fun factor in playing the lottery that investing in an RRSP simply cannot match. There’s really no harm in playing the lottery in Canada as long as you gamble responsibly and don’t buy hundreds of dollars in tickets every month. On the other hand, if you’re trying to raise money for retirement, it’s much more practical to open a retirement fund!
