Do not remove the tether
Auto glaziers often use retaining tape to hold the windshield moldings in place and ensure the seal is protected from the elements during the drying process. It might not look good, but it’s best to leave this tape in place for the first day or two after installing the new glass.

To ensure that the new moldings do not mar or shift before they have had sufficient time to fully cure, avoid high-pressure car washes, automatic car washes, and the use of pressure washers. If you intend to wash your car for the first two days after changing the windshield, opt for a regular hand wash.

Try not to put unnecessary stress on the adhesive as it wraps around the new glass. Close the car doors gently instead of slamming them and avoid driving on roads with bad conditions and lots of potholes and bumps.
