For bashing or non-serious racing it will be a treat. I used a similar tool to get about 40 liters out of an RB X12 before the engine mount and crank wore out. And it went damn well, only got a little unreliable towards the end. All I wanted to say is don’t rely on this tool to restore maximum performance to a high-end .12.

Unconventional way to re-pinch a piston sleeve?

If you covet the engines that much, it’s probably best to have a new piston made. Attempting to re-pinch a liner with “standard tools” will not work. I tried it. You can’t keep the liner round if you do the hose clamp trick or something like that. It is best to have a 3 or 4 jaw rotary collet and a lathe chuck so you can apply pressure evenly around the circumference of the bushing to keep it round. But in reality, the liner does not wear out – the piston usually does. It’s usually better to scrap the motor and get a new one if you don’t have the funds to make a piston or are unable to find a new P/L kit.
