What is the length and width of a chair?

(Listed dimensions are based on average-sized adults). Dining Chair: The seat height averages 18″ to 20″, seat width averages about 15-1/2″ in back and 18″ in front, and average seat depth is 16″ to 18″.

Weekends Only Furniture

When it comes to knowing how to choose a chair, it’s fair to say that chair dimensions can vary drastically from design to design, especially given the numerous style options available. For example, the seat height on a bar stool can vary greatly from a standard kitchen chair. For the most part, however, it is fair to assume the following typical chair dimensions.

Seat Width: 16″-20″

Seat Depth: 15″-18″

Seat height from floor: 18″-20″

Armrest Height (Full): 8″

Armrest width: 2″

Average armrest distance from front: 2″-3″

Seatback Height: 16″-20″

Specifications for different types of seats

(Dimensions listed are based on average sized adults).

Seat height averages 18″ to 20″, seat width averages approximately 15-1/2″ rear and 18″ front, and average seat depth is 16″ to 18″. If armrests are used, they should be 7″ to 9″ above the seat but fit under the table apron. The average width between the armrests at the front of the chair is approximately 19 inches.

Desk chair: Most of the specifications for a dining room chair apply here.

Casual Chair: Should provide a more relaxed reclining position than a dining chair – seat height is lower (approximately 16″). Armrests are recommended for ease of entry and exit and average 5″ to 8″ in height and 2″ to 4″ in width.

Sofa/Sofa: Seat height ranges from 16″ to 18″. The seat back typically rises 15″ to 18″ above the seat. Armrests generally rise 4″ to 8″ above the seat. The overall width of a love seat is approximately 56″ to 60″ – 24″ per person plus 4″ to 6″ for each armrest. A full size sofa measures approximately 90″ in overall width.

Barstools: In general, the seat of a barstool should be 10 to 15 inches below the surface of the bar. For a regular bar that is 42 inches tall, a seat height of 30 inches to 32 inches is standard. The backrest is typically 10″ to 14″ above the seat. Seat width ranges from 15″ to 18″ and seat depth ranges from 12″ to 16″ (16″ to 17″ diameter if the seat is round). A stretcher 18″ under the seat provides a comfortable resting place for the occupant’s feet.

Counter Stool: Most of the specs for a bar stool apply here, except that for a standard breakfast island/counter that is 36 inches high, a 24-inch to 26-inch seat height is standard.

How do you measure an elderly chair?

The correct height for a chair will change depending on the height of the person who is using it. To determine how high a chair should be, simply measure from the floor to the crease at the back of the person’s knee.

Weekends Only Furniture

Ensuring that a chair is the right height for a person’s unique needs can be invaluable, not only for their comfort but also for their safety.

Over time, the upholstery in a chair can easily flatten out, causing the person using it to put extra strain on their arms and legs as they lower themselves further into the seat and push up harder from a seated position . This can be particularly painful or difficult for anyone living with a long-term medical condition that affects their mobility, such as: B. Arthritis.

In some cases it may make sense to invest in a new chair, such as B. the Rise and Recliner, which can automatically lower and lift someone out of their seat. However, for those who are attached to their furniture, chair risers can be an effective and affordable alternative. This adds extra height to a chair and other furniture in the home to ensure the person has a safe and accessible living environment.

Which chair elevations are there?

Chair risers are available in a variety of heights and styles to suit your needs and design preferences. Leg-X chair risers have four feet with a knurled design that can be placed under a chair’s existing legs to safely add three or four inches to the height. For a stylish, modern alternative, we recommend a set of NRS bamboo furniture risers. The attractive finish of these chair risers means they will easily fit into any modern setting, whilst having a strong and durable design and available in 10 or 15cm heights.

Many stool elevations, such as Others, including the Morris sofa riser, can also be used to raise beds to a more accessible height and come in a pack of four independent feet, while others, including the Morris sofa riser, have been specifically designed for sofas and sofas. This riser screws into the base of your chair and is adjustable in both width and height, so it can accommodate different height needs.

Below is some expert advice from our occupational therapists on how to properly measure the height of a chair and determine if it should be raised.

How to check if a chair is the right height

The right height for a chair depends on the size of the person using it. To determine how high a chair should be, simply measure from the floor to the back of the person’s knees. If they regularly wear shoes or slippers when resting in the chair, they should be worn during the measurement process!

Measuring the correct height allows for a 90 degree flexion of the knee and hip joints when the feet are flat on the floor. The right height reduces stress in the arms and legs when the person lowers into or out of the chair and ensures that they can rest their feet comfortably on the floor.

How to properly measure the extra height a chair needs

To determine the extra height you need from a riser chair, you should first measure the height of the chair by taking measurements from the floor to the top of the chair cushion when the chair is propped down (as if you were sitting on it). Then measure from the floor to the crease at the back of the knee. The difference between these two measurements gives you the height required by a riser chair.

Chair risers provide an effective way to increase the height of a person’s furniture to ensure they can use their chairs safely and independently. Our full range of furniture risers can be found on our website.

How do I measure a chair for reupholstering?

If your chair is larger than average, measure the width the same way as you would measure the length at its widest point. If you have more than one chair that you are reupholstering, multiply the number of chairs by 0.75 and divide by 2. This will give you the total amount of yardage you will need for your chairs.

How to measure dining chairs for upholstery fabrics

From Jens

July 26, 2016

Dining room chairs are among the most frequently reupholstered pieces of furniture. Many of us have that one chair, sofa or bench that has been through it all and needs a makeover. The first step is to choose an upholstery fabric and figure out how much you need.

The first time I reupholstered something was a set of dining chairs from the early 1900’s. Talk about old but honestly it was easier than I thought it was and they came out great considering it was my first time. However, I opted for a printed fabric and quickly realized that I should have looked at the repeat of the pattern first. But then again, I overcalculated my measurements and bought twice as much as I needed!

Whether you’re reupholstering the chair or hiring a professional, knowing your measurements will help you determine the yardage you need. I have put together some tips on how to measure the seat of a dining room chair and what to consider when choosing the upholstery fabric.

What is the depth of a chair?

The average seat depth on a dining chair shrinks to 15” to 18” since these chairs aren’t designed for long seated sessions. However, this can vary since there is no standard for seat depth. Some pieces may have a slimmer seat depth for a sleek, modern look.

Weekends Only Furniture

Seat depth requirements may vary. So how do you choose the right depth for your needs? Here are a few ways you can narrow your search: Find a piece of furniture in your home that you enjoy sitting on. Measure the seat depth and use this as a guide for new parts you wish to purchase. Try on pieces of furniture in person. When you shop online you can get the seat depth measurements of the items you want and compare them to furniture you already have to see how different they are. Think about how you will use the furniture. Buying a desk chair for your home office is different than buying a sofa for the family room.

How do you give measurements?

It needs to be written Length X Width X Height. That is standard for measurements. It makes no difference in the order you have them listed.

How are measurements written for furniture?

The first number is the width (W), the second number is the depth (D), and the third number is the height (H). Another way to write the same measurements would be: 30″W x 16″D x 36″H.

Furniture is measured (in the United States) in inches, fractions of an inch, feet, and millimeters.

Example: How to measure the dimensions of a chair

IMAGE CREDIT: Pk0001, CC BY-SA 4.0 , via Wikimedia Commons, annotation by Ugur Akinci

For example, we can explain the dimensions of a chair that measures 34″ x 24 1/4″ x 33 3/8″ as follows:

34x24x33

The first number is the depth (D) of the chair and should be read as 34 inches deep.

DEPTH CAUTION – The seat depth may differ from the overall depth of the chair, but in most cases the seat depth and the overall depth will either be the same or the difference would be so small that for practical purposes it would be considered trivial and negligible.

The second number is the width (W) and should be read as 24 1/4 inches wide.

WIDTH CAUTION — The seat width may differ from the overall width of the chair, but in most cases the seat width and overall width are either the same or the difference would be so small that for practical purposes it would be considered trivial and negligible.

The third number is the height (H) and should be read as 33 3/8 inches tall or tall.

CAUTION HEIGHT – The seat height is different from the overall height of the chair, but in most cases the seat height is not given and only the overall height of the chair is given or mentioned.

Finally, for fractions of an inch, it would be written 34 x 24-1/4 x 33-3/8.

Written by a furniture master, these measurements will help you when you need to purchase furniture or create a custom piece.

WARNING – Remember to always measure twice (or even three times) to ensure accuracy!

Use the right tools

When measuring furniture, it is important to use the right tools.

A tape measure

A tape measure is the most commonly used tool, but a ruler or metal ruler can also be helpful.

There are different types of tape measures. Here are some of them:

Check the furniture label for dimensions

Sometimes a piece of furniture has specific dimensions that are listed on the label or in the product description. If these measurements are available, it is best to use them as your measurements.

However, if no dimensions are given or you are creating a custom piece of furniture, you must measure the object yourself.

The most common units of measurement for furniture in the United States

customs service

The inch is used in furniture measurements and is the most common unit of measurement. It is divided into 12 parts called “inches”.

These small divisions can be useful when measuring smaller items like drawer handles or cabinet knobs.

Foot

Another common measurement for furniture is the foot.

A foot is 12 inches.

So if you need to measure something longer than a foot, you can simply multiply the number of feet by 12. For example, a 3 foot long table would be 36 inches long.

millimeter

In addition to inches and feet, you can also measure furniture in millimeters.

A meter has 1000 millimeters.

So if you need to measure something longer than a meter, you can simply multiply the number of meters by 1000. For example, a 250 centimeter long cabinet would be 2500 millimeters long.

How to measure with a tape measure

While it’s important to be familiar with the different units of measurement, it’s always best to use a tape measure when measuring furniture.

To measure the length of a piece of furniture, place the end of the tape measure on one end of the item and extend it to the other end.

Be sure to hold the tape measure straight when measuring.

To measure the width of a piece of furniture, place the tape measure on one edge of the piece of furniture and measure to the other edge. Again, make sure to keep the tape measure straight.

Finally, to measure the height of a piece of furniture, place the tape measure at one end and measure to the other end, being careful to hold the tape measure straight up and down.

Write down the measurements you want before buying or making furniture

When purchasing or creating a piece of furniture, it is always helpful to have written measurements to hand. You can also do this by recording it on your phone as a written note or as a voice message for your own use.

These measurements will help you evaluate your furniture when selling it or determine what size custom pieces you need to create.

Written measurements are also useful for customers looking for a piece of furniture of a specific size.

For example, if you are looking for a bed, you can simply write down the measurements and take it to different stores until you find one that suits your needs.

Writing down accurate measurements is helpful when making custom furniture or purchasing new pieces. Follow these simple guidelines to ensure your written measurements are easy to follow and understand.

REMINDER — Be sure to use a tape measure for the most accurate results, and always double (or even triple) check your measurements for accuracy!

To convert from cm to inches, divide the number by 2.54 (e.g. 8 cm = 3.15″)

Height is determined by how tall you want your furniture to be in relation to other pieces in your space.

If you’re buying online or through catalogues, make sure there are measurements for each item so you can compare them to what you have at home.

If you don’t know what units are used in your country, measure things using metric units like millimeters and kilometers so they can be easily converted to imperial units like inches or miles later.

If all else fails, just google “convert centimeters to inches” or “convert meters to feet”. There are many online calculators for this.

What 3 measurement systems are there?

The measuring systems used include the

Metric (International System of Units) (SI),

The modern form of the metric system, the British imperial system, and

The usual units of the United States.

The units used by each system are different, although they share many similarities. From the smallest to the largest, the systems are:

Metric (SI)

Base units of mass (kilogram), length (meter), time (second), electric current (ampere), temperature (kelvin), and amount of light (candela).

Imperial

inches, feet, yards, miles; pounds, ounces; pints, quarts, gallons; Fahrenheit.

Here are a few common inch measurements for furniture:

Common Imperial Measurements for Furniture Inches (used to measure) ==> Width, Depth, Height Feet (used to measure) ==> Length Yards (used to measure) ==> Width, Depth, Height

US customary

FAQ

How do I convert between measurement systems?

To convert between measurement systems, you need to know the equivalences between the units in each system.

Simple conversion methods selected To convert from inches to feet… …divide by 12 To convert from ounces to pounds… …divide by 16 To convert from cups to pints… …divide by 2

For example, there are exactly 12 inches in a foot, 16 ounces in a pound, and 2 cups in a pint.

To convert from inches to feet, multiply by 12.

There are also conversion tables available online that can make conversions between systems easier.

What system should I use when writing measurements for furniture?

The most common system for writing furniture measurements is the imperial system, which uses inches, feet, and yards.

However, if you are writing measurements for a project in another country, it is important to use the system most commonly used there, as well as any other applicable standards.

How to write measurements for furniture?

For example: the dimensions of this dresser are 30 inches wide x 16 inches deep x 36 inches high.

PHOTO CREDIT: Seahen, LGPL , via Wikimedia Commons. Note by Ugur Akinci

The dimensions of this dresser are 30 x 16 x 36 inches.

The first number is the width (W), the second number is the depth (D), and the third number is the height (H).

Another way to write the same measurements would be: 30″W x 16″D x 36″H. In this format, all dimensions are listed one after the other, separated by a space.

If a piece of furniture has a back or bottom, it is easiest to give the front and side measurements first, followed by the back/bottom measurements.

How do I write measurements in a drawing?

When writing measurements on a drawing, you should be as specific as possible about where the measurements are located.

For example, if you are drawing a dresser on graph paper, you can write the dimensions of each individual drawer across it, rather than simply writing the overall depth and width of the entire dresser.

This way, if there is any ambiguity between your customer or you as to where your measurements apply, they will already have them written out in specific places on the drawing.

When should I use fractions instead of decimals?

In general, you should use fractions when writing measurements for furniture smaller than one inch and use decimals when writing measurements for furniture one inch or larger.

For example: 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch, 5 1/4 inch.

In some cases, when measuring very small distances, it may be easier to use fractions instead of decimals.

However, when a fraction is too difficult to read or understand, it is best to convert it to a decimal.

For example, 2 3/8 inches can be written as 2.375 inches.

Looking for a new office chair? Are you trying to customize your current chair to improve comfort? In any case, the height of an office chair forms the basis for an ergonomic workplace, the importance of which can hardly be overestimated. So what is the standard office chair height, and more importantly, is there an ideal height?

Standard office chair height

This one is simple — unlike desks, which have a standard 29-inch height in North America, there is no standard height for office chairs. Different office chairs have different reach, although the typical reach from floor to seat is between 16″ and 22″ (41 cm to 56 cm).

We looked at 7 popular office chair models; Here are the height ranges each manufacturer has opted for:

Chair Model Height Supported Herman Miller Embody ‎16 – 20.5″ Steelcase Leap 15.5 – 20.5″ Steelcase Gesture 16 – 21″ ErgoHuman Eurotech 17 – 21” Haworth Zody Chair 14 – 21” Duramont Office Chair 17 – 20” Sihoo Office Chair 16.5 – 20”

Note that all of the above are standard ergonomic office chairs. Some office chairs for tall people can be adjusted in height over 21″. Other types of chairs such as B. Drawing chairs obviously have an even greater range of heights.

At the other end of the spectrum, there are office chairs for petite users that can be as low as 14.5 inches.

The ideal office chair height – does it exist?

So what is the ideal office chair height? Does it even exist?

It turns out that there actually is a perfect height where you magically begin to levitate and the meaning of life is revealed to you.

Ok, maybe not quite, but from an ergonomic point of view, there is an optimized office chair height that minimizes the negative impact on thighs, shoulders, neck and even arms while working.

To explain this ideal seat height, let me work backwards and first describe what it should look like when you are seated:

Both of your feet touch the floor effortlessly and your knees are bent 90 degrees.

When working at a computer, your forearms are level and parallel to the desk, with your elbows at an open angle of 90-110 degrees.

The two parts of the above equation don’t always co-exist in harmony, making it a little difficult (but not impossible) to set up.

Two parts to calculate the ideal chair height

Now that you know the two outcomes to look for in order to achieve the perfect office chair height, you can calculate each part as follows.

Two feet firmly touch the ground

This is easy if you’re already in the aiming chair. Simply adjust the height lever until both of your feet are completely on the ground and your knees are at a 90-degree angle. Do not lower the chair too far as this will have a negative effect on putting pressure on your sit bones or sit bones:

The ideal chair height is where two feet touch the floor completely

Another way to calculate the best sitting height where both of your feet touch the floor can be done while seated. So you can judge a chair even faster or when browsing in a shop.

To do this, simply stand in front of the chair and adjust its height so that the top of the seat is just below your kneecap:

Calculate the ideal standing office chair height – Photo credit: OSHA

Forearms parallel to the desk

The second part of the perfect seat height equation for anyone who works in front of a desk (especially if you do a lot of computer work) is making sure your forearms are at the correct height.

Raise your seat height so your elbows form an open angle of 90-100 degrees. Adjust the height further so your forearms are just above the desk, parallel to the desk, or slightly inclined to the desk:

With the correct seat height, your shoulders are relaxed and your wrists are in their neutral position. This greatly reduces arm fatigue and helps prevent a variety of RSIs such as carpal tunnel syndrome over time.

As you adjust your chair to fit your arms, you may find that your feet are now off the floor. The solution? Just use a footrest or even a stack of paper to prop them up. It’s always easier to adjust your foot position than your arms, which is difficult without a height-adjustable desk or keyboard tray.

Ideal office chair height chart

To quickly look up the best office chair height based on your height, refer to the following office chair height chart that we have prepared. It uses recommendations from BFIMA and other datasets to create a general working guideline:

Your Height (Feet) Ideal Chair Height (inches) Your Height (cm) Ideal Chair Height (cm) 4’11” 15.9″ 149cm 40.2cm 5’0″ 16.2″ 151.5cm 40.9cm 5’1″ 16.4″ 154cm 41.5cm 5’2″ 16.7″ 156.5cm 42.2cm 5’3″ 17″ 159cm 42.9cm 5’4″ 17.2″. 161.5cm 43.6cm 5’5″ 17.5″ 164cm 44.2cm 5’6″ 17.8″ 166.5cm 169cm 48.3cm 6’0″ 19.4″ 181, 5 cm 49 cm 6’1″ 19.7″ 184 cm 49.6 cm 6’2″ 19.9″ 186.5 cm 50.3 cm 6’3″ 20.2″ 189 cm 51 cm 6’4″ 20.5″ 191.5cm 51.7cm 6’5″ 20.7″ 194cm 52.3cm 6’6″ 21″ 196.5cm 53cm 6’7″ 21.3″ 199cm 53, 7 cm 6’8″ 21.6″ 201.5 cm 54.4 cm 6’9″ 21.8″ 204 cm 55 cm 6’10” 22.1″ 206.5 cm 55.7 cm 6’11” 22.4″ 209cm 56.4cm 7’0″ 22.6″ 211.5cm 57.1cm 7’1″ 22.9″ 214cm 57.7cm 7’2″ 23.2″ 216, 5cm 58.4cm

Don’t rely on it too much though because at the end of the day everyone’s body ratio is slightly different and what works for one person may not work for the next.

If your current office chair is too low or sinks, there are a few ways to make it taller.

How do you measure for an orthopedic chair?

Measure along the height of the backrest, from the (back) edge of the seat cushion up to the top of the backrest itself. The backrest needs to be tall enough to support the back of the client’s head when sat back in the chair. If possible, check what the best back angle is for the client.

Weekends Only Furniture

We always talk about the importance of having the right seat size – and that means measuring everything the right way. So follow this guide to measuring custom seats to ensure you get the best results possible!

The 5 main dimensions for special seating furniture

There are 5 key measurements that you should always try when specifying seating (a more detailed explanation of all seating can be found here). Here’s how to get the most accurate numbers possible and why it’s important to keep it that way.

How to measure seat height

The seat height is an important factor in everyday life. Even when you’re at a desk, you can adjust the seat height of your office chair to ensure that there isn’t too much pressure on the back of your thighs or buttocks.

To measure seat height accurately, note the distance between the floor (or footplate) and the top of the seat. You should get the knee-hip angle as close to 90° as possible and the person’s feet should be flat on the floor.

How to measure the seat depth

Incorrect seat depth can adversely affect posture and even lead to pressure injuries. If the seat depth is too long, the occupant may slouch, leaving insufficient support at the bottom of the spine, and may even slide out of the chair.

With the seat depth, we want to try to get a measure that makes the use of additional cushions or cushions superfluous.

The best way to measure the seat depth is to measure from the front of the seat cushion to the back of the chair. When the client is leaning against the chair’s lumbar support, the cushions should be deep enough to support the full length of the thigh without putting too much pressure on the back of the knee.

How to measure the seat width

This measurement is sometimes recorded incorrectly, which can lead to problems with the delivery of made-to-measure chairs that are much too large in quantity! The seat width should be measured from the inside of one armrest to the inside of the other.

There should be approximately ¾ inch (or 20mm) of space on either side of the customer’s buttocks to ensure arms rest comfortably on the armrests. If the client is windswept, you may need to allow a little extra space to keep them comfortable.

How to measure the armrest height

As you can imagine, the height of the armrests determines a lot about how comfortable a chair is. If the armrests are too high, it can cause significant discomfort in the customer’s neck and shoulders. and if they are too low, it becomes more difficult to get in and out of the chair.

The armrest height is measured from the center of the seat depth (between the front of the armrest and where the armrest meets the backrest). You then measure from the top edge of the seat cushion to the top edge of the armrest.

The client’s arms should be relaxed and comfortable with the shoulder in a neutral position.

How to measure back height

The back height offers the customer comfort and support wherever possible. This measurement is important as it ensures that lumbar or additional supports are in the correct place.

Measure along the height of the backrest, from the (rear) edge of the seat cushion to the top edge of the backrest itself. The backrest must be high enough to support the back of the customer’s head when leaning back in the chair.

If possible, check which back angle is best for the client.

Top tips for accurate measurements

You will need a tape measure that has both inches and millimeters on it. Because stand-up and relaxation chairs as well as care chairs often differ in the unit of measurement with which they are measured.

If you must use a cloth tape measure, always ensure that it does not bend around the person sitting in the chair as this can lead to measurement errors.

When arranging a home appraisal with a seating provider (like us), give them the customer’s information beforehand so they can bring the most suitable chair. You should include their height, weight, any medical conditions, mode of transmission and any other information you deem relevant. Side note: if your client cannot stand upright for a size measurement, have them spread their arms wide and measure fingertip to fingertip to get a better idea of their height.

Always explain what you are going to do before you start measuring or touching the customer. This will help them stay relaxed and cooperative throughout the assessment.

HOW TO ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS FOR A NEW SEATING CHAIR

Once you’ve determined that a Seating Matters chair is right for you, it’s time to measure up. And correct measurements at that.

Correct measurements are crucial to ensure you are getting the right chair – one that is comfortable and meets your pressure management and support needs. A chair that is too tight against a patient’s body could cause friction. A chair that is too large may not provide adequate pressure management or allow for too much body rotation.

Each Seating Matters chair is custom-built to meet the patient’s clinical needs and individual dimensions. It is therefore important that we get the correct measurements before we manufacture your custom chair. We’ve trained seating specialists around the world to conduct thorough seating assessments that include accurate measurements. If you live in an area that doesn’t have one of my local seating specialists, measuring may be your job.

Read on for our easy steps to taking accurate patient measurements.

General measuring tips for a therapeutic wheelchair:

It takes two people to properly measure someone.

The person to be measured must be seated.

Use a tape measure and write the measurements down clearly.

Consider bulky clothing.

The tape measure should be laid flat and not wrapped around the person’s body.

While seated, note any body rotation in the trunk and/or lower extremities.

How to measure the seat width:

The seat width measures the seat and determines the cushion size and the distance between each armrest.

When measuring the seat width, consider which part of the patient’s seat is furthest apart (hip or knee). When your hips are furthest apart, place a flat hand on each hip. Using a tape measure, measure the length from the outside edge of each hand. If the patient’s hips are abducted, the knees are likely to be furthest apart. In this case you need to measure from the outside edge of each knee. Be aware of whether or not the patient’s knees are “windswept” on one side, they may need additional accessories to help or correct this.

How to measure the seat depth:

The seat depth determines how long the patient will sit. It is the length from the back of the buttocks to behind the knee. To measure, place a hand on the back of the person to be measured. With the other hand, place two fingers behind the patient’s knee. Measure from the palm of your hand to the edge of your nearest finger, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) to the patient’s knee.

How to measure the seat height:

The seat height measures the length between the seat and the floor (or footplate). It is measured while seated behind the patient’s knee to the sole of the foot. It is important to measure this correctly as up to 19% of a person’s weight when seated is on their feet.

Just be sure to measure both legs as some people’s legs may be different lengths or have different support needs.

How to measure the back height:

The back height determines the length from the head to the seat of a person.

To measure, make sure the person’s body is fully weight bearing in their chair. Measure from the person’s head to the top of the seat cushion.

To measure armrest height:

The armrest height determines where the arms rest. You should ensure this measurement is correct as armrests help maintain good posture. You should ensure that the shoulder is supported but not unnaturally high. Hold the person’s arm at a 90-degree angle, as if it’s resting on an armrest. Measure from just under the arm to the top of the seat cushion.

Consider the back angle requirements:

You may need to accommodate your customers’ needs by opening the back angle on your chair. As a rule of thumb, the hip angle should match the angle of the chair back.

How do you write dimensions length width height?

It needs to be written Length X Width X Height. That is standard for measurements. It makes no difference in the order you have them listed. The end result is the same.

Excuse my 2nd question of the day but I just want to make sure potential customers understand the exact size of my product and to avoid any misunderstandings and possible returns.

Is it length x height x width

or is it length x width x height

Thanks very much!

How do you right down measurements?

Write down waist, bust, and hips in inches. For example, measure a person’s hips with a tape measure. If the measurement is 36 1/2, write down “36 1/2” or “36.5 inches.”

Experiment with writing down numerical measurements for different categories so that the next time you cook, sew, or measure furniture, you get the measurement right the first time. The clearest difference in measurement categories is between liquids – which are measured in cups, liters and gallons – and solids. Solids are measured in inches, feet, grams, and sometimes tablespoons, as is the case when measuring solid butter. Practice measuring in the different categories and remember the units for quick calculations.

How to Measure a Chair for a Joined Cushion

Connected cushions are ideal for patio chairs, porch swings and more and consist of a connected seat and back. Follow these steps to ensure your custom chair pad fits properly.

measuring tips

Use a rigid tape measure (such as a carpenter’s tape measure) rather than a flexible tape measure (such as a tailor’s tape measure) for the most accurate results. Remember that you must round up or down to the nearest ½ inch when ordering. Do not order new cushions based on the measurements of your existing or old chair cushions. Over time, pillows can become worn and the fabric can stretch. Using these measurements will result in cushions that may not match your furniture. Instead, measure the chair where you will be using the new cushion.

How to measure your chair

Steps 1: Dimensions

Width: Measure the overall width of the seat of the chair.

Measure the overall width of the seat of the chair. Depth: Measure the seat depth of the chair.

Measure the seat depth of the chair. Back Width: Measure the overall width of the back of the chair.

Measure the overall width of the backrest of the chair. Back Height: Measure the height of the back of the chair.

Step 2: Thickness

Determine the desired pillow thickness. Chair cushions are available in thicknesses from 2″ to 8″ (in 1″ increments) depending on the cushion type chosen.

Be sure to subtract the thickness of the seat cushion from the height of your bench’s back dimension, otherwise the back cushion will be higher than the back of the chair when it is placed in position.

Is your chair unusually shaped?

If the seat or back of your chair is in any shape other than rectangular/square, you will need to create and send a template (sample) for your furniture. To learn how to create a template, visit How to create a template.
